Notes: Hi, this is a repost! I reread the original. and it was bad. even though I claimed to have already edited it. Gross. But, this was originally one of the first fics I posted to this blog, so I hope you enjoy this updated version of it <3

There was an incessant knocking at the door. It rang, loud and clear through your empty chambers. You let out a small groan, turning towards the door to give it a dirty look. “I already told you, please leave me alone.” You didn’t care to know who was at the door; your bets were on Sharena, or perhaps even Anna (you would loathe to see Alfonse there) but no matter who it was, you didn’t want to see them.

Whoever it was, they were wasting their time anyways. You weren’t worth the effort, and certainly, not worth their time or kindness. Given how things were around here, something urgent would push you out of inaction soon enough anyways...

Still, the knocking on your door remain. Polite, but firm. Whoever was there wasn’t going away with one halfhearted call, it seemed. You merely pull the comforter of your bed up closer, frowning now at the door as you consider all the mistakes and failures, made in the Order’s name. They deserved a better Summoner, a better tactician… Someone who could actually live up to the title of ‘Legendary Summoner.’ Despite your thoughts, though, the knocking remains, though perhaps a little louder. The hard rapts hitting your door making you sit up.

“Please, just go away. Don’t you understand the meaning of ‘alone’?” You call out again, rolling out of bed to finally answer the door. Your clothes were rumpled and your hair surely a mess from staying in bed far too long, but maybe if whoever was at the door saw the bags under your eyes they would reconsider bothering you. If they even spoke when you opened the door, considered they hadn’t even bothered to name themselves as they knocked.

At the next pause in the knocking, you answer the door.

“Zelgius...” Before him, you felt small. Your face with his armor, kept in perfect condition, only to look to his features-- put together and stern, but with obvious worry as he takes you in. You probably look as much the mess as you feel. You suddenly feel a little naked, despite being somewhat dressed. You don’t think he had ever seen you without your cloak. “What uh, what brings you here? Is it urgent?” You awkwardly look away from his perfect, pretty face, looking back to your darkend room, to the glowing shape of Breidablik on your desk.

“Summoner…” Your title leaves him in a small breath. Even Zelgius, known to hide his emotions rather well, can’t hide his shock at seeing you like this. “Commander Anna… along with Alfonse, and Sharena, have said you refuse to leave your chambers. Why?” At least he was candid, carefully taking in your pitiful form and surely trying to figure the best way to approach this.

“You know why.” You speak softly, still refusing to look his way. It’s not like he didn’t know. Not like it wasn’t the Order of Hero’s favorite rumor. Slowly, you opened the door wider to allow him in. If he wanted to try and help you, then he could try. Your problems could be his for a few minutes if he truly wanted.

“… You know I'm not used to this sort of thing.” He begins, entering into your dark room, having to duck under your door frame. The first thing he does is open the drawn curtains to let the light in, an action that has your turning away.

“I know.” You answer with a small groan, rubbing your tired eyes to try and get use to the sudden light. “I am curious, though,” You look his way as your eyes finally adjust. “What made you… want to do this yourself? There are plenty of heroes who are probably better at comforting people than you.” You also aren’t sure you want him to be the one to do this. He was a general, after all. Not really known for being kind…

“I’m aware.” Zelgius remains quiet a moment, watching you intently. You swear you can hear the cogs turning in his mind. “But.. I do not think they care as much as I do.” His answer shocks you, enough so that you find your mouth opening a little. It’s not as if you thought he hated you, more so that you thought you were rather… on neutral terms with him. That he cared, so much so to admit it to you and come down to try and get you out of this depressed stupor, brings a sort of warmth to you that you haven’t felt in a while.

“Well, its kind of you to take time out of your day to check on me, but really I’d rather deal with this myself.” You turn away from him, and his kindness. “I’d rather people not know I can get like this, in fact.” You add, sitting back on your bed and grabbing at your blanket. Zelgius takes the seat at your desk, pulling it out to face you. You didn’t know how to feel, seeing him sit down and watch your, waiting for you to finish. That he wanted to be here, even when you were still trying to push him away. “I can’t bare to think what everyone would think of me, seeing how I fail them… how I let my depression, just, take over and…” You shake your head, not willing to finish that thought and sighing instead.

“It is a disability, is it not?” Zelgius’s voice calls your attention. “Not quite like a broken arm or bleeding wound but… debilitating all the same. Should you not take the steps to take care of it like one would any physical ailment?” His question is simple, as if it were obvious. Perhaps to him, it was. Still, the thought causes you to pause and consider it a moment.

“I understand where you’re coming from, but I…” You grow quiet as you see a frown cross his features.

“It’s not a burden to rely on others.” His voice, his deep timbre, takes on a soft tone. “Your allies and friends have your back. And I,” He pauses, taking a deep breath. His vibrant green eyes close, only to open and focus on you with a renewed vigor. “I want to be there to support you as well. Tell me how I can help you through this.” Your heart can’t help but pick up at his words, embarrassment flooding through you as you see how sincere he is.

“Zelgius...” You pause, unsure if you should let on just how touched you are. How much it meant to you that he was doing this. “Honestly… I don’t really know what will help me.” You admit softly, finding it hard to look to his face. “But, it means a lot hearing how much you care!” Your next words come out rushed and loud as you see his features fall a moment. Still flustered, you continue. “That you’re trying to help at all, and that your here with me now.” Your turn to take a deep breath, to offer a smile that probably hasn’t genuinely met your lips in a few weeks.

“If you don’t mind and if its not a big deal…” You feel shy all the sudden, like a school girl with a crush. “But if you’re willing to just stay and listen to me? That could be nice….” You trail off, trying your best to read the look on his face. It could be nice, to have some to shoulder your burdens with. To maybe for once, let someone in.

“It would be by my honor to do so, Summoner.” His answer is quick, and certain, causing your heartbeat to pick up once more. He holds a gentle, armored hand to his chest and smiles, just for you. “Whatever you need of me, it is my pleasure to help you.”

“Zelgius…” You can’t help but speak his name, smile reaching your lips as tears prick your eyes. “Thank you. For everything.” You wish you had the courage to tell him how much this really meant to you. But for now, this would have to do. Maybe sometime soon, when you were feeling more yourself (with his help, no less), you would be able to find the right words to say. But in this precious moment, where you can’t help but smile, that will have to suffice.

[ she has something to discuss with you! ] She finds him in the classroom. Head peeks around the corner at a very familiar figure; she's careful to keep out of sight and be as quiet as possible. The second she caught wind of a rumor involving a very tall and brooding man, she went searching! Lo and behold, there he is, in the kind-of-see-through flesh!

Now that she's found him, she doesn't know quite how to approach. She was only able to speak to the Líf from her world briefly. (Kiran had him teach a skill to Alfonse, and then he was gone), and even then he barely made conversation.

Can't really be mad about that though. He's... gone through a lot. But it doesn't give him the right to be a big flake! She will talk to him and they will bond!

With a motivated exhale, she emerges and stands in the doorway. For a few seconds she stands there. He... makes her sad, and she cannot entirely decipher why.

Sharena's smile widens. She will lock that sadness away. For Líf's sake. She wouldn't want to burden him with her own sadness.

"Wow! Black Eagles," she chirps, hands clasping behind her back as she walks calmly into the room. "If I had known you were teaching here, I would have totally joined! But I think I look great in blue." She was also in the Blue Lions before.

When she's a few feet from him, she stops. Smile disappears when she gets firm. "And before you say anything. I'm not the Sharena you know. Different Sharena. Same Sharena but different." She blinks, confused by her own words.

A deep breath. "Same Sharena that you know but different, in that, like, I'm not from your world. Like not from the world you're in now and the world you're from, but, like, I'm from a different, different world."

"..." Her smile returns, this time a bit sheepish, and a pink dusts over her cheeks. "I kinda got lost?" Oops. "But it's fine. Totally fine. I'll find my way back, and in the mean time, I'm going to make the most of my time here!"

There's not a lot for Sharena to watch. Lif does not so much as stir as he enters his headspace. With nothing left to write on for the day, no lesson plans to draft up, and a likely-busy Thrasir not at his side, a lack of purpose stays his hand. His body knows neither hunger nor exhaustion, making little use of the monastery's facilities--and he would rather rip the lofty laurel from a god's head than offer them a single prayer.

So he anchors himself to his classroom, and resigns himself to wait for life to happen. Excitement is often tragic; he prefers silence.

Today, he would not be getting silence.

Sharena glows at the entrance to his class, and at first Alfonse is unsure of what to think. His eyes rip through their worn appearance so that his shock may truly be displayed. And as she speaks, time crawls to a standstill. Where there was a void of thoughts there are now thousands. They swarm him, circling and buzzing like an impossibly thick cloud of locusts. He wants to feel everything--despair, relief, envy, happiness--but as she mentions her chosen house, they fall flat. Everything converges on hope.

Hope that this Sharena is faring well. Hope that her optimism lives. Hope that she is the same Sharena he once lost--that the gods have finally shown him some pity, that they honored his deal. Hope that the bright beacon before him is the first of many swells within his undead chest, and Lif rises from his seat to meet her.

But hope is crushed by the harshness of the truth. Whatever embers of his past she had lit behind his crimson die with her next few breaths. Breaths of life, which he envies, and he mimics with the eitr beneath his mask.

Lif's shoulders fall, along with every last wing and compound eye belonging to one of his thoughts. He raises a gloved hand, as if to say that she need not explain, but there is no stopping her. He should have known as much, seeing as how this is still Sharena. But time has made him grow distant. He feels a blade twist into his side as the useless endeavor achieves no goal, knowing it is a greater indication of how far he strayed from his humanity.

This, too, eats at Lif.

"I... Do not know what to say," he admits, solemnly averting his sister's gaze. He cannot smile like she does, and even if he could, it would be marred and ugly--and concealed by his monstrosity of a face. "I wish you well, Sharena. Please... Do what you will with the precious time you have."

Lif's voice shudders, for he knows, greater than all, that there is no going back once it's used up.

"If I may assist you in any way... Do not hesitate to ask."

Thoughts about Marth's resplendent?

Ah... I feel like this is a Resplendent that could have been done better. I apologize to anyone who likes this Resplendent, know that it's just my opinion and I'm a really picky person.

Incorporation... I want to go over some key points on this outfit that really end up dragging this whole Resplendent down, because I feel like Tobi took TOO many creative liberties. For starters, the pattern on the front of Marth's outfit is incredibly simplified and looks nothing like the usual Askran patterns on the Order of Heroes outfits, like Anna's. And I GET it, drawing those patterns is a major pain in the ass. But it really makes it feel like there was no attempt to incorporate Askr visuals. Plus the blue gloves and red cape aren't really reminiscent of standard Order of Heroes outfits; Marth does not look like he's wearing Askran garb. The badge being the Fire Emblem is a cool touch and I DO like it, but that's also not Askran/Order of Heroes regalia, it should be the Order badge. And I KNOW I normally say "Push the feathers" on most Askr and Embla outfits but in this case? The feathers should be shortened a bit. This is not Askr garb, this is the equivalent of a Halloween costume.

That being said, Tobi's art is still good. Nice posing, great color work, though expressions could be pushed a bit more, and anatomy checks out.

And I think Askr easily fits Marth, it's in his nature to help people so it makes sense that the face of Fire Emblem would dress in the garb of FEH's faces (Alfonse, Sharena, and Anna).

I honestly and very sadly have to put this Resplendent at a 5, maybe 6/10. This one baffles me a little because I KNOW Tobi can do intricate armor designs since they drew Clive, and their original costume designs for alts are always good. But this one was such a huge miss and part of me wonders if it's because of the specific design requirements that come with designing a Resplendent. I'm not against creative liberties in these Resplendents (I've said before that the liberties with Resplendent Amelia with the clothing color was totally fine), but you need to put priority on the design first, THEN some changes next.

About Alfonse and lif. There is something I'm curious about and your answer to this since I like your stuff relating to lif.

What do you think about the Alfonse and lif paradox ( this is something I give a name because too lazy to come up with something creative)? This is how it works thanks to book 3 we know lif can exist at the same time as Alfonse because lif is from the doomed askr. This implications mean Alfonse is capable of becoming lif which personality evidence exist after book 3 like the whole I will kill you too or something from that line in book 6, Alfonse literally implying he wants to kill kvasir If there is no other options and the character in the room have a shock response in book 7.

But I will continue to be on topic, since we know alfonse can be lif because of the whole hel invasion, along the fact Alfonse personality become similar to lif minus the whole blue jelly skeleton. Does that mean that under different circumstances of Alfonses fall a official fallen alfonse will be similar to lif or way worse

Never really thought about it too much, but yeah you do see the hints of that in story. But yeah when you think about it, depending how the story goes a fallen Alfonse who might similar but somewhat different from Lif might be possible.. Lif became what he is his gamble to try and stop Hel led to him losing everything and he's desperate to try to fix it.

I do wonder if would be hard for Alfonse to have Lif around when he's summoned because he's the reminder of what could happens if he fails. So if our Alfonse ended up going down a dark path it would probably be in the name of trying to prevent tragedy from happening. Though I think Alfonse is less likely to fall as long as he has Sharena, Anna, and the Summoner to keep him grounded. With out them he would probably become something about the same or worse than Lif.

"Oh...!" Ena startles as Sharena scrambles closer to her, excitment glowing in the other girl's eyes, "Er... yes, you could say that I know him."

It felt odd to say that it was simply that when they had kissed before, though only fulfill that tradition of mistletoe. (Ena would be a fool to say it had meant anything more; right?) He had comforted her in the dark bunker last month, holding her gently against him as she had cried.

It didn't seem right to say that she just knew him. They weren't exactly friends either; were they? She doesn't think she knows a word to describe what they had come to forge in the short time they had known each other.

But she can certainly say that she would consider Alfonse to be... very dear to her.

"I understand," She smiles soflty, "I'm sure my own family worries about me in such a way too. Your worry shows... you care."

And ever was her grandfather a worrier, when it came to her.

Her cheeks burn brighter as she says, "... I am glad he is not alone too..."

Personally I hate Henriette more than Gustav. Base version Sharena tells us how she and her mother write each other every day/weeks and I imagine she writes how many times they were almost killed, not to mention Gustav and Henriette being perfectly fine with sending their children to war instead of trained soldiers with far more experience. I imagined Henriette would at least showed up to stay with her children or talk to her husband and tell him to "forgive them" for abandoning royalty, instead Henriette shows up only when the war towards Hel starts how strange...

I swear if Intsy give us the possibility to adopt heroes (a S support but platonic) I will take Alfonse and Sharena and give them all the love they deserve

That's entirely reasonable! I don't...really think I can say I hate one more than the other, though, because frankly both of them have handled this situation terribly, just in very different ways.

I'm actually willing to write off Henriette's letter writing with Sharena and general absence as having duties of her own to perform: a queen isn't necessarily just there to look pretty, she can have her own matters to attend to either separate from or related to her husband's work. The diplomatic situation with Embla is in a terrible state and has been since before the game began: although we have no idea what the Askran king and queen are up to, we do know that Embla has a council that helps guide policy, so it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to be trying to use diplomatic channels to sort out the situation while the Order of Heroes and the rest of the Askran guard handle the country's defense; then in Book 2 when we start forgetting about Embla in favor of Muspell, it's similarly reasonable to think that the king and queen are managing the Emblian front while the Order of Heroes gets pulled into the Nifl/Muspell side of the conflict. Just like Sharena and Alfonse aren't able to get away from their duties with the Order of Heroes to sit down regularly with their parents, it's unfair to assume that Henriette could but chooses not to. Writing letters doesn't require schedule alignment: it's something both she and Sharena can do when they have the time to spare to keep in touch, and honestly it can be a sweet gesture -- especially when compared to Gustav freezing his children out for their decision to join the Order of Heroes.

(Also, I don't think Sharena's going to tell her mom that she almost got killed. If she wants to stay in the Order of Heroes and keep making friends, she's probably not going to make it sound like her life is in immediate danger -- if she brings up any risk at all, she'd probably immediately downplay it by saying that she took care of it or that Alfonse/Anna/one of her Hero friends saved the day.)

It also bears mentioning that Gustav and Henriette aren't 'perfectly fine' with their kids engaging in the conflict against Embla/Muspell/Hel (at least not through the first few books). It's stated explicitly in Book 3 Chapter 1 that after Alfonse went against his father's wishes and joined the Order of Heroes, Gustav told his son that he never wanted to see him again:

Alfonse: Mother...why have you come? Henriette: To bring you back home. Your father needs to speak to you. Alfonse: He does? Last we spoke, I understood that he...he did not wish to see me again.

Which. Uh. Not a great look there, Gustav, disowning your son for doing something you don't like, rather than...oh, I don't know...talking to him and explaining why it's not a good idea? Maybe actually teaching him about how to lead Askr instead of washing your hands of your heir? So it's not that Gustav personally ordered his kids out onto the battlefield, it's that he basically decided "let them die, that'll teach them to go against my orders." Henriette might not have stopped them, either, but she's clearly more amenable toward her kids, willing to let them make their own decisions while still being there to support them -- hence the letter writing, and being so eager to spend time with her children when she gets to (such as personally tending Alfonse's wounds after a battle).

Personally, my big issue with Henriette is that she's basically an enabler of her husband's neglectful and abusive behavior. If she was in any way trying to mend the rift in the family after Gustav turned his back on Alfonse, she wasn't willing to go against him in order to do it. When Gustav chastises her for telling Alfonse that his father missed him, she immediately bows out and says it was "her mistake." She specifically warns Sharena before that not to "disrupt the conversation" between her brother and their father, and later when Gustav tells Sharena off for defending her brother Henriette makes no move to defend her daughter (and while I'll admit that we don't know with certainty whether she was there for that moment, since she doesn't have any lines, she is in the camp since her bandaging Alfonse's wounds happens shortly afterward). And then on top of that, telling Gustav that he did the right thing in that Forging Bonds...that's the epitome of the enabling behavior. She tells Gustav that he was right in the way he chose to mistreat his son, and that he was a good person for what he did. It's frankly disgusting to me, because there might have been an argument that she's as much a victim as her kids, given Gustav's abusive behavior...until she jutifies his actions with three years of hindsight, having watched her children continue to struggle to fill roles they were never prepared for because Gustav neglected to do so, preferring to berate them for not knowing what he never taught them. She tells a dead man that his cruelty was in fact justified, and that I cannot forgive.

FEH: Mid-cutscene + new banner

Here it is again guys, since going back to the Askr vs Embla conflict after several books - we finally got the gods!

Bish literally said dilf energy for Askr and I'm living for it.

It's lowkey odd to see him seem kinda and carefree? Considering his two descendants (Gustav and Alfonse) are so serious for their own good, remember - I think we have an answer to where Sharena kinda got her carefree attitude from. We can say it's in their blood.

He's gonna be the father of memes in the FEH community now, I can feel it.

Now a lot of cows vs bats were happening on Twitter when this all came out but hey, Embla does kinda look devious and I am hoping that there would be personality between Lady Embla and Lord Askr - but this is Nintendo and we have a few chapters remaining, so all we can do is hope.

If, let's say Embla is corrupted considering that they worked together centuries ago before the cursed thing - I guess we can see it in the design of Lady Embla. She's corrupted, like her descendants from the imperial royal family.

I'm happy that the Embla and Askr gods are close to what designed we've seen prior. Unlike Nifl and Muspell who... kinda look like they came from a completely different game. Still confused as to why they're bats and cows since I remember reading somewhere that they're dragons - unless... there's something else in there that needs revealing.

Ascended/Legendary Veronica?

The design is nice, and considering Letizia being a playable character in the next few days on the new update, maybe we can finally get the default Veronica and Bruno/Zacharias unit we've been waiting for.

This bish. I love Ash's design. I like her character compared to Reginn from Book 5. But yeah she doesn't have enough screen time to the point where I just don't see her usefulness in the story. Elm is doing his damage as he was told to by Lady Embla, but Ash? Yeah, I don't see her importance and hopefully, I.S. will give her something in the next few chapters before it ends, especially now that Lord Askr has recognized the threat and went down to Zineth himself.

As Askr's retainer, she should have an idea about the Emblian blood curse - correct me if I'm wrong, or maybe we'll get them in the next few chapters, but we don't get that sort of confirmation yet?

We can argue that Letizia is on the verge of breaking because of the curse since she is of royal blood, ninth in line. We saw Bruno cracking in book 1 and were reminded of that curse in book 4 in the realm of dreams. Veronica has yet to be cracked.

This one broke me. I'm not saying it's not expected but based on the pattern of the books starting from book 2 - a sibling will die on the opposing side. Gunnthra and Legjarn died in book 2, Gustav died in the classic Fire Emblem father dying formula plus Lif and Thrasir, kinda-ish? Book 4 had both Freyr and Freyja dying. Book 5 had Otr, Nott, and Etri dying - but Etri had us questioning our life choices before she died.

Following that, Letizia might surely die as she's the major antagonist and if she lives she's gonna spend the rest of her years of lifetime imprisonment unless forgiveness saves the day. Hopefully not though.

If Veronica dies who knows what Zacharias/Bruno might think. He might give in to his sorrows break completely and go against Alfonse. Accepts the fact that there was no way to save Veronica. Or he dies. Like in true Fire Emblem fashion.

She's either on the verge of breaking or she's already broken.

What do you think of the FEH OCs?

Alfonse is fuckin nuts and I love him, Sharena's cool and I appreciate her optimistic outlook on things, Anna is... there. Veronica is hilarious because she evolved into tag-along kid, Bruno's hot and that's enough for me.

Fjorm... is nice? She was great in Book 2 but I'm kind of indifferent to her in Forging Bonds and in that TT storyline. It's the same way I feel about Corrin in FEH and Warriors, when they're not the main character making hard decisions or whatnot, the appeal of the character is lost to me (at least the base forms, the feral Corrins were great). The Nifl siblings I feel didn't get enough individual time for them to stick, though Ylgr is fun. The Muspell sisters were good antagonists, and I liked their bond. Killing off Helbindi was a mistake I won't ever forgive. Surtr was like Garon but with no underlying substance or secret machination controlling him to justify his being like that, so he's kinda weak to me. Nifl and Muspell themselves are just quarreling gods and I lack interest in their story/feud besides imagining their potential feelings for whoever they gift power to.

Book 3 has been my favorite of the FEH stories so far, and Eir has a really interesting character regarding her conflicting feelings with her mother, as well as her perspective on death. Lif and Thrasir had a really good tragedy to them, though the latter got pretty shafted compared to the former. Hel herself is full gung-ho evil, and in a way that I find more entertaining than Surtr, since the book was about rejecting death's supposed inevitability.

Book 4 came close to Book 3 in terms of story, if only because the 4 alfar being mistreated human children wanting to save people really is a heartwarming underlying plot thread. Peony is sweet, Mirabilis is pretty funny, Triandra's cool and Plumeria is pretty neat. Freyr and Freyja crack me up, honestly. It's like they took the Eldigan+Lachesis tragedy, made them into gods and made the sister go crazy over it.

Book 5 was fine. Reginn has a pretty typical "lost princess reclaims her rightful homeland" but the story beats were there and executed well enough; nothing spectacular but certainly not terrible. The Jotnar twins kind of felt... a bit shoehorned in? I liked their inheritance feud and their opposite personalities, but honestly I feel like they should've been saved for a different book. Fafnir, the poor sap, he really got fucked over huh. Hope we get an alt of him where he's happy and reunited with his family. Eitri brings an interesting conversation about the "Morals of Summoning" but out of story it doesn't really matter since, y'know. That kind of aesop barely matters irl since summoning doesn't exist in real life and unless you really project yourself into the FEH avatar, it probably won't matter to you for the game's story after a minute or two. Otr? Brocon who really needs sleep, those eye bags are crazy.

Ash is pretty endearing so far, and Book 6 looks like a neat story given they're going back to Askr and Embla. I have hopes for where the plot goes with that.

I will start caring more about Thorr's and Loki's characters once they do something meaningful in the plot besides talk about Alfaðör's business.

...And if you meant how the Book 5 OCs look in their New Years getups? Ignore all of the above lol. Reginn's pretty cute, Fafnir is supreme eye candy in his damaged art, and the Jotnar twins look nice.

resplendent sanaki has this voice line, she's 13, therefore, veronica's also about 13. easy enough

and for the askr sibs, we have this from book 4! sorry i didn't open the game to screenshot this, i figured grabbing a screenshot of the script from the wiki would be fine

anyway this is a little bit of math, but assuming they mean you stop being a child at 12 (makes enough sense even by real world standards since that's when people are considered teens)... "at least 10 years" would put sharena at 22 or even a little older in book 4! alfonse is the older of the askr sibs, but he doesn't seem MUCH older so he's probably around the same age as sharena, like within a year or two

i don't think any other feh ocs have approximate ages implied in-game? at least i'm not remembering it coming up anywhere tho i could very well be wrong about that. we know bruno's older than veronica (and significantly older, if he's childhood friends w/ alfonse and sharena), we know that in order from youngest to oldest the nifl sibs are ylgr, fjorm, gunnthra, hrid, and we can assume ylgr's about veronica's age. we ALSO know fafnir is old enough to have a wife and a daughter but that doesn't give us a lot of info about his age, though we also know he's the oldest of the nidavellir sibs (otr's the middle child and reginn's the youngest)

Book VI (And Awakening Banner) Thoughts

Well, since I did this for Book V, may as well do it for Book VI. And I'm not really covering Summoner Duel. It looks cool, but I've never been big into the PVP aspect of Heroes, or gaming in general. So let's just focus on the important stuff.

Starting off with my first impressions of the new characters:

I really hope this was just for a joke and to showcase her clumsiness, because I don't need another main female lead who's in love with the summoner just because.

And yeah, I was hoping we would get a male lead as much as you, but I'm willing to be optimistic about Ash. She's mega cute and the trailer helped to establish her personality right away. And with how great they did with Reginn, I think they'll do well with her.

Da F*ck is this transformation?!

I thought the dream goats were weird, but having the retainer of a God who's a beast unit, yet still carries a staff (seriously, why do you have that?), that transforms into a cow who shoots lasers from her tail? What the f*ck do these designers smoke to come up with this?!

Ok... I can't be the only one who gets major NB vibes from Elm. That hair and facial structure. The V-neck exposing all of the collarbone. The body shape. The one thigh being exposed for no reason. I legit couldn't tell that this was a man until they straight up said it. Like... Damn. Talk about saying "f*ck it" to gender conformity.

For real though, he looks like he's going to be the sassiest twink ever. And I'm probably gonna end up loving him. I can't help myself. These kinds of characters just click for me.

Ma'am!!!

Joking aside, I am wondering what Letizia's connection to Veronica is since they already said they're "like sisters." My current theory is that she is part of the royal family, but doesn't have as much influence as Veronica. And it seems like she's enacting the will of Embla and forcing Veronica to turn against the Askr crew and stop being friends with them. We did learn a while back that she and Zacharias are bound to this God to become a mindless destructive, so it seems like it's finally coming into play.

It's pretty surprising to see only 3 new characters teased for this book. I'm assuming they don't want to spoil everything out of the gate, but I am hoping they keep the new cast small. The fewer newcomers are introduced, the less bloated the cast will feel. Though I am expecting an appearance from Askr and/or Embla. Oh, and Zacharias has to show up. You can't put this much focus on Veronica and not have her brother play a role in the story. And have Xander as well, he's basically her brother at this point.

On the note of Veronica,

I really am happy to see her again. I've begun to like her more over the past 2 years, and it's nice to see her story getting a possible resolution. I just want her to be happy. Like, if this book ends with her and Alfonse becoming besties, that will be enough for me. Just... My God, this child deserves it.

So yeah, pretty excited to see where this goes. And given that Book V was a MASSIVE improvement over Book IV, we're definitely in the clear.

And yeah, obligatory mention of how little Sharena matters at this for once more not appearing in the trailer or poster. And this time, there isn't even a similar-looking character to keep me guessing. Like, wow. They really know just how pointless she is!

Onto the Awakening Banner!

And... yeah, let's just get through this first one.

Oh boy... Him. I have several problems.

One- why that pronunciation? Did anyone before today ever call him Pry-am? No! Of course, you didn't! Every person I've ever seen say his name has always said Pre-am. It rolls off the tongue better and sounds significantly less stupid.

Two- of the Awakening characters not yet in Heroes *cough*Laurent*cough*, why him? Has Priam ever been a highly requested character? I've never seen him be commonly brought up when it came to characters people want to summon, and while I'm sure he's on some people's wish list, it's never been to the extent of having a blog dedicated to him.

And third- Wow, the amount of straight washing with this character! Radiant Hero? Descendant of Ike? Wielding the Ragnell? Like, way to say "Ike's not gay" without directly saying "Ike's not gay." The fact that people are already dreading what his forging bond events will be is a pretty big sign of how unenthusiastic most fans are for this.

Damn, I nearly forgot how hot Basilio is. And I don't even mind the name pronunciation, cause it still works and makes him feel even grander.

I don't know why it took me until now to realize how great Flavia's design is. It's a perfect mix of powerful, elegant, and tasteful. Man, Awakening really had a lot of great designs we've been sleeping on.

Case in point! I knew we were bound to get Yen'fay once Say'ri was added, and I'm glad with how he looks. Another really great design I haven't appreciated until now.

Overall, I'd say this banner is... Good. I'm not gonna be pulling hardcore for any of them (especially Priam), but they're welcome additions.

And that's that’s my thoughts on this trailer and banner. Not anywhere near as much of a mindf*ck as Book V's trailer, but I'm looking forward to what will happen.

Alfonse probably shouldn't tell Matthias that he wasn't actually worried about Sylvain in particular. It wouldn't do them any good at the moment. Alfonse scarcely knew the Gautier heir. He'd seen him around Askr plenty, that much was true, but the Sylvains he had met didn't seem particularly interested in talking to him. They had eyes for Anna and Sharena instead. Again, probably not the best information for Alfonse to offer at the moment.

"Ah, no, I'm not really... particularly acquainted with him," Alfonse mumbled, stepping back and folding his arms behind his back. He really wished he were wearing an outfit that weren't mostly white right now. He hadn't had a chance to wash it since the battle, and it was quite clearly stained red-- whose blood was on which part, though, even Alfonse wasn't certain. There had been quite a lot of blood flying around during their time trapped in the Golden Deer classroom.

"I moreso was-- I wanted to make sure you were doing alright," Alfonse explained. "If tracking him down or knowing he's safe would help put you at ease, then I would like to do what I can. If nothing else, we ought to make sure everyone here is able to perform their best. It's a cynical thing to say, but I think people would buy me worrying about that more readily than that I truly care about everyone's mental well-being here."

...He did, though. He couldn't bring himself not to care. Any downtrodden face before him would immediately tug at his heartstrings, and in a situation like this, those who didn't look as affected by what occurred were those he worried about the most. They were probably only putting on a strong face for the others. That was what he was doing, after all.

Okay, thoughts on book five so far!!

I like it!!! I'm really digging the magic and weapon thing being combined. It's fun!! I love Reginn and I will personally beat up her brothers if needed. I also like the music. It be a bop!

Okay, now this person?? The strange summoner without the gold on their cloak??

I'm thinking is maybe why Otr sent Reginn to get the summoner. Im also thinking that this odd summoner has something to do with Fafnir's headaches (just going off the strange creation of theirs and Fafnir both suffer from those odd headaches). Maybe Fafnir needs the summoner to help with something related to this odd summoner.

Okay next! Alfonse! Baby boy right off the bat asks where the summoner is. Which I'm still confused by. As it seems they were right near either him or Sharena.

So I wonder why he seemed so worried. So far he's just seemed very protective of the summoner. Which is fair, given that the enemy wants to take them. He's also seemed very anxious about them too, I wonder why.

Also just, sjdkdhdmdh, we love one prince and it's Alfonse

I love how he just, trusts them so much now. Very different from how he was back in the first two books. He's gone and done exactly what he warned us of: getting close to a hero.

Okay, thoughts on Fafnir and Otr

Fafnir creepy, Otr a little creepy but cute. I do wonder what exactly made Fafnir turn from kind, to being a corrupt leader. Seems hard to believe that someone kind enough to take in orphans and to raise said orphans as family, and then turn into a tyrant and invade other lands while neglecting your people. Perhaps he was invading other lands in search of the summoner, but who knows! Fafnir also seems very pale, the same deathly pale as Eir, who is the princess of the dead. While Otr and Reginn seem to have more life to their skin.

Okay, so, Alfonse and the others, along with Reginn, are making their way to find a sage who lives in a forest. And based on what Otr said, of how the summoner is visiting her by choice, makes me wonder what this sage could be like. Is she possibly someone who also wishes to take the summoner?? I also wonder if she's the girl with the big white witch hat in the poster

And speaking of the poster. Alfonse being on his own up top, looking very ready to fight, makes me a tad anxious. It looks as though he's trying to protect something or someone.
