I'm reading a review of the hundred line and while it does not exactly inspire confidence in me about the game (just because I know 100 "meaningful endings" is hell to write and I cannot imagine keeping up the quality for all of them, not to mention the hit-or-miss kodaka-isms of kodaka games), it's definitely what I expect kodaka to do lmao

and yeah, sure, he's obviously done post-dr games already before this one (rain code, tribe nine, etc) but. it is funny to think that the most visible successor to ndrv3 (the game that asks if the ending is fiction or reality and which one is "true") is a game that just gives you 100 endings to choose from. who cares what the "true ending" is

First and foremost, thank you so much for sending these in. These are great headcanon ideas to think about and makes me wanna rewatch the movie for the 045984534 time. I'm gonna go in order!

How does being turned into a llama strip Kuzco of not just his power, but his identity and what parts of his personality remain intact?

Up to this point in his life, Kuzco's entire identity (at least, the negative aspects that Yzma has ensured he focused on and encouraged) has been that as the Emperor, he is a descendant of the great Sun God Inti, and as such is the human personification of perfection-- and therefore, his needs come before EVERYONE ELSE, at all times. He receives produce and grain rations before his people, the Royal Stables get the best of the stock from throughout the Kingdom, any supplies or wants that he can think of are to be delivered immediately, regardless of where it's from in the Empire or who he has to send for it. Whatever he wants is hand-fed to him on a GOLDEN platter, and he's never heard the word NO in his life. Any 'problems' that may arise, or anything that could otherwise throw off his 'groove' are dealt with SWIFTLY and usually before he's even made aware of them, to keep him satisfied and happy. Kuzco was abrasive, manipulative, sarcastic, egocentric, arrogant and selfish beyond words-- because he has never been taught to be anything else, and he's never needed to be, before. But as a sheltered child, Kuzco was also naive, gullible, overly trusting, and dependant on others, which in the end, was his downfall.

Being turned into a llama is the complete and total OPPOSITE of that. The llama is the 'workhorse' of the Empire; arguably as important as the Emperor, but for vastly different reasons. Llamas provide food, clothing and are the animal most villagers use for labor in their fields, travel throughout the empire and trade. As important as they are, they aren't invaluable. There are nearly more llamas than there are people, so as a llama . . . Kuzco was NOT special. Not only had his beloved appearance changed, something he cherished above all else; but he had to completely re-learn the basics, such as walking and eating, and you have no idea how often you use your hands until you don't have HANDS to use.

It was humiliating. Going from the supreme being of the land to a lowly, common llama, and worse yet-- relying on a peasant for survival. . . it felt like a cosmic slap in the face. Like Inti had it out for him personally, and that everything he had accomplished up to that point had meant nothing.

His personality remained largely intact. Kuzco spent most of the 'journey' still of the mindset that he was the EMPEROR, and that all of this, including the peasant who sacrificed himself to help him, was beneath him. As a peasant in his Kingdom, it was his duty to serve Kuzco, so of course he would help him-- which was exactly why he was so stunned that Pacha didn't initially agree. Throughout the journey he's haughty, and only cares about getting himself back to the palace, with the assumption that as soon as he gets there, everyone including Yzma will fall all over themselves to right this catastrophic wrong and put things back to normal. He's manipulative, convincing Pacha to help him with plans to throw him in the dungeon. He's gullible, assuming that he can get back to the palace on his own when Pacha initially insists that he won't help, and in believing that Kronk and Yzma are there to find him to bring him back. In reality, he's a scared little boy who has just turned 18, and has never dealt with hardship in his life, let alone being ousted by his trusted advisor, the only person he could truly consider 'family', and he has no idea what he's doing, but is determined to save face as much as possible.

What lessons does kuzco learn from pacha that he couldn’t have learned in the palace?

The primary lesson that Kuzco learns from his journey is humility, which is something he could have never learned in the palace. While he didn't rule with an iron fist, everyone in the palace was afraid of him in the sense that they knew how he would act if he didn't get his way, and were afraid to cross him or throw off his groove. He would have never learned humility in the palace because he was never in a position where he could be so vulnerable, or would ever have to face it. Like I said before, as a llama, Kuzco was almost entirely dependant on Pacha. Without hands he could use his mouth and hoofs with somewhat human actions, but he was reduced to walking on all four legs. He was cold throughout the night with only his fur to warm him, and while it was a shared idea between him and Pacha, without his help he would have never been able to eat in Mudka's, and would have been forced to remain reduced to the degrading need to eat grass to survive.

Besides all of that though, Kuzco had never worked a day in his life, and was helpless without Pacha's guidance and KINDNESS throughout this journey. Pacha showed him kindness out of the goodness of his heart, not because he was the Emperor and was required to, but because he was a good person, and saw the scared little boy that Kuzco actually was, instead of the uncaring, selfish Emperor he portrayed himself as. Pacha also knew more about basic survival than Kuzco would have ever learned without his help, and of course knew the land better than he ever could have in terms of actually finding a way back to the palace once the bridge gave out. Kuzco learned from the peasant what it mean to be cared for and protected, leaning on him as a father figure before he realized or accepted that he was doing it. Where Yzma was cruel, cold and conniving-- teaching Kuzco many of his negative traits, such as manipulation and indifference to anything that didn't allow him to get his way, Pacha was warm, kind, knowledgeable and fatherly, and was willing to be patient with the young Emperor, despite how difficult Kuzco made it on him.

HEADCANON. in the beginning, when he first lost his eyesight due to the war, daichi had tried using potions/spells to help him see ( ie. having his cane laced with a spell that once its tapped on the ground he can see things nearby or very basic seeing spells that give him more shapes to work with ) but as time went on, the more he digest/used it the more side effects came ( headaches, nausea, fatigue, etc ). while the cane does do a good job, there's often issues with it as well ( ie. it getting stuck or him dropping it/forgetting it somewhere ). so ? ozemir offers up to try and train a hellhound the same way humans train dogs to be guide dogs. ozemir gifted him a properly trained hellhound named iris. she takes the form of a black standard poodle with bright purple eyes and will often be at daichi's side in any interaction and helping guide him while he's out and about.
