[Nothing Like a Home-cooked Meal, Link x Reader]

Request: Could you do a headcannon/imagine where Link is getting ready to cook but reader beat him to it? And it's delicious and how do you think he'd react to that?

           The sun was rising across the vast land of Hyrule as the bright morning light sent beams penetrating through the foggy, dew-covered windows. Your small Hateno home was still, seemingly unbothered by the Calamity that corrupted the Castle each passing day. Slipping out of the warm bed, you were met with a wave of cold air as it rushed to encapsulate your sleepy body. Shivering, you brushed off your wrinkled cotton shirt and delicately escaped from the bed.

           The walk to the general store was a short one. Bolson and company waved as you passed by, the three men already lounging around on the silken grass. East Wind was just opening for the day, Ivee was outside beckoning every passerby to stop in. The shop was as you remembered, goods lining the walls, a large grand staircase to the left, and the counter to the front. Pruce stood with his hands positioned on the countertop, eyeing you as you strolled carefully around the room, examining each item before placing it in your bag.

           “You’re up early.” He stated, a smile now growing on his face. “The boy not up yet? He’s usually the one here.” He chuckled to himself, seemingly recalling a past conversation with Link.

           “He had a long day yesterday!” You began placing your items on the counter. “Guess a trip to Kakariko wore him out.”

           “That’s quite a way away.” He mentioned as he added the total of your purchase. “That’ll be 20, please.”

           You dug through your bag, collecting the rupees and handing them over the counter. Without verifying the amount, Pruce threw them into the drawer and waved you off. By the time you got back to your home, you noticed that nothing had been moved; Link was still sound asleep. Sneaking into the house, you snatched up a wooden cutting board from Lurelin Village and a knife from Goron City, then returned to the cooking pot outside.

           Omelets were the easiest breakfasts to cook and Link absolutely loved them. Then again, he liked most any food put in front of him. He allegedly ate rocks once to satisfy Goron Champion Daruk. Strange boy. The fresh eggs from the East Wind were perfect, whisking into a frothy mixture in no time. Chipped rock salt was added in, as well as a good splash of milk. There was just enough Hylian rice and mushrooms left from the other day, that you decided to use them as the stuffing.

           With steaming plates in hand, you crept back into the home and gently laid them down on the table. A groan could be heard upstairs, and the shuffling of feet alerted you to Link’s awakening. Heavy “clomps” came down the steps as the Champion rubbed his sleepy eyes. He stopped upon seeing you, a small smile beginning to line his lips as he approached with his arms spread.

           “Good morning.” You giggled, accepting his hug and returning the favor. He hummed a response, chin resting on your shoulder as he swayed back and forth in a clumsy sunrise dance.

           “You made breakfast?” He eyed the two dishes sitting at the table, hot steam still rising from them.

           “Pruce was surprised too. Guess I need to cook more often, huh?” You said jokingly, knowing good and well that he typically woke before you.

           Link was the chef of the house, he loved cooking possibly due to his love of eating. It was rare for you to cook when he was around and even when he wasn’t he would leave small recipe cards or ingredients he had picked up from across the land. When traveling, he’d enjoy seeing all the small restaurants and rest stops, but homecooked food was always on his mind.

           “Well, go on. Try it.” You unclasped your hands from behind him, freeing his body to stroll over to the opposite side of the table. He examined the dish, scooped up a spoonful, and happily ate it.

           Suddenly, he keeled over. His hands were wrapped around his neck as he put on a theatrical display as if he was choking, whining about how absolutely “putrid” the food was. Groaning, you stared at him, slightly amused. This act went on for a few minutes before he poised himself and returned to his plate.

           “If it was so bad why are you continuing to eat it?”

           He shrugged, a smirk evident on his face.
