altho, Knight has a good low center of gravity for it and Parker Does Not

but the man can keep his legs as straight as his face😑

so once they lace their boots and Knight gets Parker upright, he just, erm, needs a little push...😅

Parker can skate as long as nothing stops him and then he crashes

Knight’s not a solid teacher, tho, bc she’s too competitive and that’s canon

but she’s chill and happy going at Parker’s pace

so they deffo just skate along the perimeter of ponds or trails or wherever they’re skating❄️❄️❄️

the most important thing about ice skating outdoors is holding hands and drawing close anyway~

If you drive down the new jersey turnpike, right at Exit 10 you will see a billboard that says "Stop bigotry against Hindu Americans." The first time I saw this billboard I was with my parents, and I explained to them what I summarize below.

This past August, during the India Day parade in Edison, a bulldozer rolled down the street. 

It was decorated with pictures of Modi and Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The bulldozer is a known symbol of anti-Muslim hate, ever since Adityanath used them to destroy Muslims' homes in UP in 2014 and again as recently as April 2022. Adityanath is a known fascist who has blood on his hands. It's worth googling him.

After the bulldozer was seen in Edison, The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) and the Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) issued a public statement against the bulldozer and Anti-Islamic Hindu nationalist ideology, in general. New Jersey Democrats Bob Menendez and Cory Booker spoke publicly in support of CAIR. Then, a group called the Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee issued a resolution against "Hindu National Hate Groups Operating in New Jersey and Across the United States." In their resolution, they named specific tax-exempt organizations with "direct and indirect"  ties to the RSS. The groups that they named were:

Hindu American Foundation

Sewa International 

Infinity Foundation

Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation

Vishva Hindu Parishad of America

These RSS-affiliated groups responded to the Teaneck resolution with this billboard campaign and website. They re-framed the issue as the Democratic Party discriminating against "Hindu Americans;" completely obstructing their original anti-Muslim act, and their overall violent ideology. Soon after the billboards went live, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (what even are these groups?) issued an asinine statement about unity and inclusion that dismissed the Teaneck resolution without naming any of the relevant issues of Islamophobia or Hindu fascism.

It's gross seeing these billboards around, it's pathetic seeing the Democratic Party take a non-stance. It's also an accurate representation of how strong the grip of Hindutva ideology is on the Indian community here in New Jersey, and how out of touch municipalities and politicians can be. Just 10 days ago, for example, the Plainsboro library hosted the traveling exhibit "Darshana: A Glimpse into Hindu Civilization." I love the Plainsboro library. In 2022 they got rid of overdue fines, and they have one of the best, open spaces in our community.  I guess nobody told them that the organization responsible for the exhibit is directly linked to Hindutva groups. Or worse, the programming was intentional. Either way, creative, generative interventions, achieved through grassroots and collective organizing, are much needed as Hindu nationalism becomes more visible and influential here in Jersey.

The night had went on like any other night had at the Iron Angels Clubhouse. The guys, and gals, had all met up at TheCornerTavern-RP and had a few drinks. The group slowly trickling in as they all gathered in the same spot. After getting on a fair enough buzz, they’d all headed home for the night. Some followed Damian, the VP of the IAMC, and those who didn’t had split off and headed their own directions.

On the back of his bike was Avery Hiser; Twin and daughter of his pseudo-brethren. Damian was dressed in his usual Jeans and Tee, only covered by the thick leather of his cut. The toe of his boot slid under the gear shifter and he squeeze the clutch before shifting, revving the engine tighter, pushing the bike to go faster.

Avery laughed in his ear and he smiled. Her arms were wrapped tightly around his middle, her bare legs gripping his outer thighs as they sped down the highway to their collective home. Damian hadn’t wanted a relationship again, not for a good while. But then the rain came and the lightening struck, bring Avery into a new light. There was something about her that stirred him now. It could be the way she handles her own with the guys. He didn’t need to intervene. It could be the way she worked the wrench in the shop that caused him to take notice. Or it was the way her lips felt when they were pressed against the side of his throat like they were now. His heart did a flip inside the confines of his ribcage and goosebumps broke out down his arms. The night air had never even caressed him like that and he knew her intimately.

Nevertheless, he’d taken the step and claimed her as his. Not without a lot of regard, a lot of liquor and a lot of self-reflection had he begrudgingly agreed that she’d stolen the fragments of his heart and between her shards and his, they’d managed to piece together a small semblance of happiness together. Over the past few weeks Damian and Avery had grown closer and closer, until they’d begun to get comfortable in their shows of affection.

Alone on the bike together, though illuminated by the headlights behind them - spotlighted front-and-center - things were good. He had his girl with him, his Club behind him every step of the way.

Pulling to a stop, Damian and Avery got home first and slid off his sleek Black Road King. “I need another beer.” Damian said to his girlfriend, draped his arm over her shoulder and aimed to head across the lot to the Clubhouse porch. Avery tilted her head up to him, an act of her usual defiance, and he pressed his lips roughly to hers. His way of bribing her. “C’mon toots.” A name said playfully as she’d slid her arm around his waist and they took the first few steps.

“Toots? Did you just kiss my fckin’ sister D??” Damian’s head snapped up from his view of her face to land on an enraged Zeth Hiser standing in the doorway. “You mackin’ on my sister? She ain’t one of your club wh0res!” Zeth roared and came down the stairs heading in their direction, controlled by the concoction of drugs he’d been given while held hostage and the healing ones he’d been given since being rescued the chances of this man seeing reason or even feeling pain were slim to none. “What? No” Damian lifted his arm from Avery’s shoulder and stepped forward; right before meeting Zeth’s right hook.

POP!!! Zeth’s fist smacked against Damian’s face and it didn’t matter that he was the VP of their club. In this moment it wasn’t member vs. VP, it was Brother vs Boyfriend.

Damian’s head snapped to the side with the force of the unexpected blow. He should have anticipated the man’s fury, the two were usually inseparable and as far as he knew she’d never even had a boyfriend. Let alone a seasoned one like him. He’d probably deserved that one.

“I WAS BEING TORTURED YOU SELFISH PRICK AND YOU WERE HERE! FCKING MY SISTER!” Zeth screamed into Damian’s face as the assault continued. Swing after swing, blow after blow, Zeth punched, scratched and smacked at every part of Damian’s body he could reach as the two rolled on the ground in a fit.

“-Zeth-no. Fckin’ stop!!!” Damian ground out between his teeth between held breaths. His nose would probably be broken, blood ran down his lips as he yelled back at his MC Brother. “We didn’t fuckin’ leave you!” Damian continued.

“YOU LEFT ME FOR DEAD YOU LOUSY SONNOF A B!TCH!” Zeth accused, his head digging into Damian’s ribs as they grappled.

The world around him was a blur as he vaguely made out the sounds of Avery’s screams and the approaching motorcycles. Sure she stirred a lot of attention, unwarranted attention. But he always kept that sort of trouble at bay. No one went near here. Not without his say. Z growled. "Toots? Did you just kiss my fckin' sister D?" Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Avery catch her breath, wide eyed she took a step forward. But his hooded gaze warned her back. D was tall and sturdy and it didn't matter one bit if he wore the same colors as him. It didn't matter he was the iron angel clad. It didn't matter that D was his brother. The only thing that mattered was this blast of hatred coiling inside his chest and the need to hurt him and hurt him bad. "She ain't one of your club whores." Z rushed him. His huge fist swung out connecting to D' right jaw. He snarled for Avery to get back. Like a blast, he charged again, pounding and punching through the brittle bone and flesh. In a twist of bloody knuckles and elbows, they crashed onto the pavement, breaking on a bad fall. Still it didn't stop him. He continued to show no mercy with each anvil blow. Cursing and spewing words under his breath with every hit. This wasn't just a beating a brother did on behalf of the love for his twin sister. No. This was full blown pent up aggression, months of emotional anguish and enmity of hate. There was no stopping him. He nudged me out of the way and growled, “Toots? Did you just kiss my fckin’ sister D?” He took a step forward as I tried to decide if I should try to intervene, or back away. Then the rest happened so fast, and I didn’t know what to do. Zeth roared and rushed at Damian, “She ain’t on of your club whores.” Then all I see are Z’s fists flying and blood spewing. They are both on the ground, the sound of fists pounding flesh making me nauseous and my head spin because my mind is trying to send me back to the past, to a different time and place. The sound of other bikes roaring up brings me back to the present, and seeing Chucks and Siri, I hope he can help.
