More Barley sketches! Sorry I haven’t been posting as much lately, life has been busyyy buttt the sketches will always continueee. I really wanna draw Guinevere 2 as well hahaha!

Hey! I'm sorry to be so inactive here, but I'm working double shifts from Monday to Sunday and I don't have time :) Anyway, here I present the first sketch of what my Onward AU is.

In this AU, the one who got sick was Laurel. Having a weak body, she died while giving birth to Ian. Until then, Barley would have been as we know him, lively, a lover of magic and a rocker, but when his mother died, this lack of maternal presence affected him, causing a setback in his personality. As time went by, he began to be more confrontational and lazy, more realistic. On the other hand, Ian would adopt that love of fantasy and magic that his brother abandoned after losing their mother.

Wilden, on the other hand, would have remade his life with a certain police satire that would occupy the role of a certain mustachioed man.

Barley would have dedicated himself to music and would have a rock band in which he would be the guitarist and lead vocalist. Ian, however, would drown in a world of magic (and mathematics, of course) that could only be found in his books and games. Barley would have developed a certain contempt for his brother, because deep down he blames him for his mother's death, so he would never miss an opportunity to humiliate or bother him.

When I was looking at screen caps for Onward, I noticed how here Barley actually looked a little bit annoyed with Ian for a moment. This is probably one of the very few moments we see him get like this, but even so he managed to restrain himself pretty well and just jumped in to take control of the situation.

I just thought it was a pretty interesting detail.

Any Mothers Day headcanons?

I would see them always appreciating their mother by spending quality time with her while the Bois try their best to make breakfast/dinner.

It would also be neat when the Bois were younger they gave her sentimental gifts like handmade cards or a cool rock that looks like a Phoenix gem. Laurel would definitely save all of those gifts for years as priceless gifts from her children.

one of the many things i love about onward is just how fully and sincerely barley loves ian. like when he realizes that ian has the innate ability to do magic and he doesn't, you might expect him to be a little annoyed given that ian had zero interest in magic and didn't believe it ever existed, while barley was always the one who absolutely loved magic and would've been way happier than ian was to find out he was not only right about it being real, but that he could do it. but if he is annoyed or disappointed in any way, he certainly doesn't show it. instead he encourages ian, guides him, and shows how proud and excited he is that his little brother is a wizard!!
