food trip with noir
after a long day of fighting criminals and beating down villains, you and noir had the tradition of going on food trips to recharge and feel less agitated from battle. it was your turn this week, and boy did you have a lot you wanted to show him. the first place you took him to was a local panciteria, you knew the owner, they always snuck you extra noodles and more meat on your pancit, you were their favorite customer.
noir loved the scents in the panciteria, and when he joined you to order, you asked him if you two could just... share a plate. "oh, y'know, it's to save on costs as well. besides, i might not be able to finish..." he said as he tried, and failed, to appear like he didn't have any ulterior motives with this whole 'sharing a plate' idea. you agreed though, and noir absolutely loved the pancit. you fed him some with your fork and even though he said it'd be better to get one plate to save money, he couldn't help himself, he wanted more.
after the pancit, you two got some desserts at a local chowking. you introduced him to the beauty that was halo-halo. and the minute noir saw the purple ice cream scoop of ube on top, he already knew it was gonna be good. he couldn't get enough of the gulaman and leche flan toppings on the halo-halo, to say he really loved it was an understatement. "love, this... oh goodness, i love the ube ice cream on this, and is this jelly? oh and flan? this is on the same level as egg creams for me, that's it, we're going here all the time now, please!" he'd exclaim with a dorky grin as he had some smears of ube ice cream on his lips.
finally, to end things off, you visited a local fries stand, the beloved potato corner. you ordered a small one since you guys already had dinner and some dessert, and you just knew noir had to try this. it was a staple of your childhood and still is a staple of your daily life, you hoped noir would like it, but when noir saw the cute little mascot doodle in LED lights, he already fell in love with it. you shared your fries with noir, and after a little while, it was gone in a flash.
"what? that was it...? aww, well, maybe we can get more next time. it's concerning how addicting these potato cuts are, but gosh darn it, they're amazing." he beamed as you smiled and pointed out how orange his lips and finger pads were, and he pointed out you had the same, even after he watched you lick it off!
noir loved the snacks and meals you showed him every time it was your turn to lead the food trip, it felt like he was sharing in bits of you, seeing as how you loved these foods ever since you were younger and how you still love them to this day. and yes, he did convince peni and ham to go with him to a potato corner with you guys and fought over the fries.

Take a Taste: with Chowking Spicy Chao Fan [Recorded: Mar 30th, 2024]
Hello! It’s time for another “Take a Taste”! The series is about delicious food with my two paper dolls.
Today, it's time to share my food thoughts from the past month of March 30th, 2024; "Black Saturday" on Holy Week 🙏✝️. Once again, I break the "Holy Week" ❌🥩 rules. From "Breakfast" with Chili Con Empanada and Sprite Lemon Plus 🌶️🥟🍋🥫, and now a Chowking Spicy Chao Fan, with nice refreshing Iced-Tea for dinner! 🌶️🍚🍋🧊🥤Yum-yum! 😋🍽️ Will the "Spicy Chao Fan" fried rice beat the "Chili Con Empanada" from before? 🤔 Let's find out, right now! 🙂
If you haven’t seen my previous episode, then please click → [CLICK ME!].
IMPORTANT NOTE: No #OnThisDay throwback post for this date.
So, without further ado, let’s get started:
1st to 5th Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• [1st & 2nd Images] It's 9:35 PM 🕘🌙, and we've arrived home from a family province. 😊 Here, we've ordered a Chowking Spicy Chao Fan fried rice, a normal Chinese-style fried rice with spicy fruit! 🌶️🍚 Plus, a tiny cup portion of chili sauce if I want an extra kick (no pun intended). 🌶️💥🥵 And of course, I can't munch my "Spicy Chao Fan" without a refreshing Iced-Tea! 🍋🧊🥤 Mmmmm, my paper dolls are waiting to see what "Spicy Chao Fan" looks like!? 🤤
• [3rd & 5th Images] Well, okay then! Here it is! 😁 I've opened their lids to reveal the scrumptious "Spicy Chao Fan" (right), along with the iced tea (left), and a small portion of chili sauce (middle). Did I mention, that you choose Siomai Dumplings or Lumpiang Shanghai Rolls (4 pcs for both, by the way); steamed or fried? I went for the "Steamed Siomai Dumplings" over fried, but the Lumpiang Shanghai Rolls were also good as well. 🥟 Also, the scent of "Spicy Chao Fan" was straight from a Chinese wok, and it's pretty darn good from our nostrils. Can you smell it, you two? 👃😊 Ah yeah, and don't forget a packet of soy sauce, too. Don't worry, I'll put that on my spicy fried rice after my taste test without condiments. 😉
Did you know: For those who don't know about "Chowking" (超群 meaning "preeminent") 🇵🇭🍚🥟🏬, it is a Filipino-Chinese-based fast food restaurant operated by the Jollibee Food Corporation, since March 18, 1985. Previously owned by the "Chowking Food Corporation" itself before it was merged with the aforementioned JFC, in the 2000s. The Filipino-Chinese fast food restaurant still operates today in my home country, as well as selected regions like parts of the Middle East 🇸🇦 🇦🇪, parts of Europe 🇪🇺, the United States 🇺🇸, Indonesia 🇮🇩, and of course China 🇨🇳.

6th to 8th Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• All right, enough information let's have a "taste test"! 🥄😃 Let's start with their steamy dumplings! *munching* Not bad, but what would be better than dipping a chili sauce? 🌶️🥟*munching* Mmmm! That's better! I would say, it a pretty darn spicy. Not too high, or low, but just right. My paper dolls already tasted it, too. 😊
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
9th to 13th Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• [9th Image] Now, lets try with Spicy Chao Fan, this time! *munching* Not bad, I would say an average spicy fried rice, in a good way. 👌🙂
• [10th to 13th Images] However, if I mixed the chili sauce and soy sauce together, then this is a pretty sure a good "Spicy Chao Fan". 🌶️🍚 And it delivers through our mouths! 🥄🔥😄
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
14th to 17th Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• Well, paper dolls. Looks like our dumplings are gone, but we still have our delicious "Spicy Chao Fan" rice! And it was already spicy and delicious when I mixed two condiments (chili and soy sauce). 😊 As for the Iced-Tea 🍋🧊🥤, I've already sipped and its refreshing while I was eating, something that I need when I munch a spicy food. Otherwise, I might gonna buy a chocolate milk drink to ease my burning tongue. 🍫🥛→👅🌶️🥵 Nonetheless, we emptied our rice box because we enjoy eating "Spicy Chao Fan"! 😊 And that leads to...
Overall:
• Overall, we're satisfied our "Spicy Chao Fan" from Chowking without my complaints! 🌶️🍚😁👍 For the price? Only ₱139 (roughly $2) with regular size drink of choice. So, I would say a solid worth an appetite, including my paper dolls! 😊 We're definitely gonna order it again, whether the Siomai Dumplings or Lumpiang Shanghai Rolls for our toppings, fried or steam; they're both good options. 😋 As for the comparison between the "Spicy Chao Fan" 🌶️🍚 (for dinner) and the "Chili Con Empanada" 🌶️🥟 (for breakfast), I'd say they're "tied"! 🙂👍
Well, that's all for now. 😊

Road Trip: 6,000 Km, 7 States, 2 Plates Of Kolhapuri Chicken, And 1 Orange
Tumblr media
A short highway drive led to this blog post. Three of us drove down from Delhi to Goa via Udaipur and Mumbai. After getting sunburn for three days in Goa, we drove onwards to a town near Mangaluru to see the beaches.
No one gives a samosa these days, so this post will omit annoyances like scenery, sunset, wanderlust, the mountains-are-calling, and I-love-travel nonsense.
Tumblr media
My mother is used to hearing unpleasant, unexpected things from people about me. When word reached her that I have decided to drive down south thousands of kilometres with some people from Delhi, with the possibility that I may drive back home alone for a few thousand kilometres more, she tried to change my mind.
"No, no, no," she said on the phone at night, far away from Imphal. "It's very dangerous. What if you get hurt in an accident, or worse?"
"Accidents happen all the time," I said. "But we will be fine," I told her, not entirely sure about that. Who can predict the future? After a while she agreed she would be cool about it.
Mothers are like that. But they will let you go eventually. They know that you, too, have been collecting years.
Tumblr media
We set out for Udaipur from Delhi at 6 am. A lab in Jaipur, a city that falls on our route, agreed to take samples for COVID-19 test. Any cop at state borders could ask for an RT-PCR report even if you are fully vaccinated. Whatever the cop says is final when you are travelling by road, so we decided to be well-prepared. The only chai-paani I like is the one I have myself.
Tumblr media
We reached Udaipur at 9 pm. For dinner, we ordered Rajasthani laal maans. This drive across seven states - Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka - opened up infinite possibilities of tasting the best food in each state.
Tumblr media
We entered the Gujarat border at 10 am. A police officer stopped us to check documents and asked, "Carrying any daaru?" We said no, of course, and he let us through.
Next came the Godhra bypass, a state highway with a smooth surface and proper markings that made driving quite fun. The state highways in Gujarat are better than some national highways.
Tumblr media
Baroda, Surat and hunger followed soon. We drove past dhaba after dhaba with "only veg" and "pure veg" signboards, until we found one with a poster that showed an omelette. This, we blamed the Bengali in the car.
Over 13 hours of driving put us right on the doorstep of Navi Mumbai. Pushing and fighting your way inside a coach in Delhi's busy Rajiv Chowk metro station is way easier than entering Mumbai during evening rush hour traffic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are two main routes from Mumbai to Goa. The first is a twisty old highway that passes through ghat roads, and the second is a straight run on the plains via Pune and Kolhapur. Many prefer the second route because why not? The old highway is full of potholes, back pain and feelings about taking a U-turn for home ASAP.
We stopped at Kolhapur bypass for Kolhapuri chicken. See for yourself in the photo below.
Tumblr media
The road from Nipani in Karnataka all the way to the Goa border is narrow. But it was on this stretch that we liked stopping for tea and filter coffee.
We reached Goa at night on Day 3 after we drove out from Delhi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some days later we prepped for the ride to our next destination - Surathkal, a clean, green, and quiet beach town 20 km from Mangaluru in Karnataka.
Fish thaali in Karwar, on the Karnataka-Goa border, and filter coffee in Udupi really charged up the drive to Surathkal, where we reached in no time and stayed at a friend's house, just a 10-minute walk from a white, sandy beach.
We chilled at Surathkal for two days, visited Mangaluru and enjoyed ghee roast chicken and gadbad ice-cream.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the time to return home came, a small but not an entirely unexpected problem presented itself like magic. See, I drove down with two friends all the way from Delhi, but they flew back to attend a wedding. A stern message came from home that either I find someone to ride shotgun on the return leg, or I give the car to Agarwal Packers and Movers and fly back. I cannot drive back alone, the serious people at home said.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only person who came to mind was an old friend from school, who in Class 12 taught me how to drive a motorcycle wrong and wreck it. By now we go back a quarter of a century. I dialled him and presented the plan - he would fly down to Goa, stay for a day, and drive back with me to Delhi with a night's stop each in Mumbai and Udaipur. "You can eat anything you like, stop anywhere you like," I told him. It did the trick. He took a flight to Goa within 24 hours with only a small backpack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The return leg did not play out any different than how we had come. We traced back the same routes. The Godhra bypass had excellent reflective markings that made driving at night safe. The Rajasthan-Gujarat border near Udaipur had similar safety features. These two stretches helped a lot in improving night driving skills.
Tumblr media
That's all people. And about that orange, I forgot where I had kept it for the entire trip. When I finally reached home, it tumbled out from the magazine holder of the front seat.
Fin.
Tumblr media
The fine print:
Vehicle: Maruti Suzuki Ignis 1.2 petrol manual, stock tyres upsized by 20 mm to 195/60/R15, Continental UC6
Total toll cost: Rs 5,210 (as per FASTag statement)
Total fuel cost: Rs 28,000 (approximate)
Best roads: Udaipur to Gujarat border, Udaipur-Jaipur highway, Godhra bypass, Mumbai-Pune expressway, Udupi to Surathkal highway
Worst roads: 30 km from Amboli ghat to north Goa border, exit from Navi Mumbai to Thane, Gurgaon-Jaipur highway (road surface is relatively smooth, but it's really bad for night driving due to absence of lane markings on the road; you can get blinded with oncoming headlights and not find directional help since the white lines on the road are missing)
Recommended dhabas and restaurants: Shree Mahalaxmi Seafood Restaurant, Kolhapur bypass; Shetty Lunch Home, Mangaluru; Cafe de Voyage, Margao; Laxmi Family Restaurant and Bar, Morjim.
Thanks to Ira, Jayashree, Munmun, Stella, Rajib, Smitha and Jayant for the company during the road trip and taking these photos.

Background: Prior to entering the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1979, the Edmonton Oilers were established in 1971 as a member of the World Hockey Association (WHA). The team is called after Alberta's largest industry, which is the oil and gas sector.
Team past: With a roster that includes iconic players and a successful past, the Oilers have a storied history in the NHL. With players like Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, and Paul Coffey leading them, the team dominated the league in the 1980s, winning the Stanley Cup five times in seven years (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990).
Recent Years: The Oilers have gone through ups and downs in the previous few years as they attempt to relive their championship glories. The squad has made adjustments to player personnel, coaching, and management in an effort to assemble a competitive roster.
Current Roster: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Leon Draisaitl, and Connor McDavid are just a few of the NHL's best players on the Oilers' outstanding roster right now. These players, who are renowned for their talent, quickness, and scoring prowess, spearhead the team's offensive and help it succeed on the ice.
Prospects: The Oilers are regarded as contenders in the NHL as of my most recent report, and they hope to challenge for the Stanley Cup. With a blend of young players and seasoned leadership, the squad hopes to build on its achievements and become a consistent force in the league.

In conclusion, the Edmonton Oilers are still a major force in the NHL thanks to their illustrious past, devoted fan base, and unwavering dedication to both on- and off-ice success. The rhythmic clacking of my keyboard filled the sterile silence of the library. Deadlines loomed, research papers mocked me with their blinking cursors, and my brain felt like mush. A frustrated groan escaped my lips, sending a ripple of startled silence through the once-peaceful room.
Suddenly, a message popped up on my screen. It was from an anonymous user on the research forum I frequented. "Everything alright over there?" it read.
Startled, I typed back, "Just the usual student meltdown. Deadlines, writer's block, the whole shebang."
A moment later, another message arrived. "Sounds like you need a virtual shoulder pat and maybe some...dessert?"
I couldn't help but smile. "Dessert? Are you offering to bribe me with virtual cookies?"
"Even better," the message read. "Have you heard of Chowking Halo Halo? It's this amazing Filipino shaved ice dessert with everything from beans to ube jam. Trust me, it'll put a smile back on your face."
Intrigued, I Googled the dessert, the vibrant colors and overflowing toppings a feast for the eyes. "Oh my god," I typed, "that looks incredible. But seriously, who are you?"
The response was a playful, "Just your friendly neighborhood dessert dealer."
Over the next few weeks, this anonymous stranger became my virtual lifeline. We commiserated over research woes, celebrated small victories, and exchanged ridiculous memes. He, with his endless knowledge of obscure historical trivia and his unwavering optimism, and me, with my sarcastic wit and caffeine-fueled rants.
One evening, amidst a particularly frustrating bout of writer's block, I sent a message, half-joking, half-desperate. "Oh my god," I typed, "it seems like I've killed someone at your level of anger. Can I send you a virtual Chowking Halo Halo so you can chill???"
His response was a single sentence: "Challenge accepted. But only if you agree to a video call so I can see the face behind the sass."
My heart hammered against my ribs. A video call? This was supposed to be anonymous! But the thought of finally seeing the person who'd become my confidante, the one who'd brought laughter back into my stressful world, was too tempting to resist.
Taking a deep breath, I typed, "Alright, you win. But you better be prepared to be amazed by my bedhead and procrastination pile."
The video call was a whirlwind of nervous laughter and stolen glances. He wasn't what I expected, not the stereotypical image of a research forum dweller. He had kind eyes, a mess of curly hair, and a smile that could melt glaciers.
Our conversations, once confined to text messages, flowed effortlessly in real-time. We learned about each other's dreams, fears, and the most embarrassing childhood stories. We discovered a shared love for bad reality TV and a passionate hatred of early morning classes.
Months turned into years, our online connection blossoming into a beautiful offline reality. We met for coffee dates that turned into starlit walks and movie nights that stretched well into the morning. The research forum remained our secret haven, a place where it all began, a constant reminder of the virtual dessert that led me to the real sweetness of love.
Today, years later, we stand in the kitchen, laughing as we attempt to recreate our first taste of Chowking Halo Halo. It isn't perfect, but the mess of colorful ingredients and the taste of accomplishment are a delicious reminder of our journey.
He looks at me, his eyes warm, and says, "Remember when you thought you'd killed me with your stress levels?"
I grin, leaning into him. "And you saved me with a virtual bowl of shaved ice? Best. Bribe. Ever."

Healing Process of Nasal Bone Fractures: What to Expect
A nasal bone fracture, often resulting from injury or trauma to the nose, can significantly impact both appearance and breathing. Understanding the healing process and what to expect following a nasal bone fracture is essential for individuals who have sustained such an injury.
When a nasal bone fracture occurs, the injury might cause swelling, bruising, pain, and difficulty breathing through the nose. The initial steps of treatment often involve assessing the severity of the fracture, managing pain, and addressing any accompanying injuries.
The healing process of a nasal bone fracture typically follows these stages:
Immediate Care: To reduce swelling and alleviate discomfort, applying ice packs and keeping the head elevated can help manage symptoms in the initial stages following the injury. Pain medications prescribed or recommended by a healthcare professional can also aid in managing discomfort.
Assessment and Stabilization: Seeking medical attention is crucial to determine the extent of the fracture and ensure proper alignment of the nasal bones. In some cases, a healthcare professional might perform a procedure called closed reduction, where they realign the bones without surgery.
Recovery and Healing: Following realignment or stabilization, the healing process begins. During this time, individuals should avoid activities that could further injure the nose and follow any specific care instructions provided by a healthcare professional.
Monitoring and Follow-Up: Regular follow-up appointments with a healthcare provider are essential to monitor the healing progress and ensure proper alignment. In cases where the fracture is severe or causes breathing difficulties, surgical intervention might be necessary.
Throughout the healing process, it's common to experience swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort. Breathing through the nose might be challenging initially but typically improves as healing progresses.
The complete healing of a nasal bone fracture can take several weeks, and the appearance of the nose may continue to improve over time. However, individual healing timelines may vary based on the severity of the fracture and the individual's overall health. Understanding the expected healing process and adhering to medical advice and follow-up care instructions are essential for a successful recovery from a nasal bone fracture. Consulting with a nose specialist near Geetanjali Chowk Nagpur can provide personalized guidance and ensure optimal healing and recovery.

Saturday. Sabbath Day. 🙏
Today is a very special day for me.
I started my day with full of chika bfast with my brothers. Nag talk lang kami about life namin nung una tsaka kung ano na kami ngayon. Puro throwback tawas and memories.
Sabay na din kami pumunta ng church maliban kay Ir since may lagnat st sipon sya. Dahil na din to sa init ng panahon kaya medyo not feeling well sya today.
After church, nag change na ako damit since may plans kami ni Julian today. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Nag meet kami sa kcc since plan namin mag watch movie. Naghanap muna kami makainan since gutom na kami dalawa.
I am very happy for him kase bumalik na sya ulit sa isa sa mga childhood hobby nya which is playing Magic cards with his friends.
Siguro it took us 30 minutes para lang mag hanap ng gusto nyang organizer. Very mapili talaga to sya sa gamit.
Next we went to dept store para mag hanap water tumbler for me. Kaso wala talaga akong nagustuhan. Puro colorful tumblers lg meron. Mas bet ko kase yung plain lang.
Medyo nagutom kami sa lakad lakad namin so pumunta kami ng DD for coffee and donuts. Grabe, ngayon ko lg na discover na may iced choco pala sila dito hahahahahahahahaha. All this fcking time, hot choco go to order ko dito. They have new stuffs on their menu din, yung waffle and cookies nila.
Nag stay muna kami for a while kase busog pa naman. Gi show nya saken cards nya, and gi explain nya pano sila ga play neto. One of the things I love about Julian is that he always make sure na hindi ako behind sa mga pinagkaka busyhan nya. It gives me a very huge level of assurance and also may na le-learn din ako new things.
Nung di na masyado mainit sa labas nag visit kami sa japan surplus, likod lang ng DD so nilakad lang namin. Maka happy kase mas matagal na na-gina hold na ni Julian hands ko sa public hahahahahaha. Nung una medyo shy pa sya pero ngayon he holds my hand like he's showing off to everyone that I am his girl.
We ended up trying shoes sa surplus since very old na ang tumblers nila. Like yung sign of usage nya is not acceptable na. 😬 May nakita kami vans shoes for me pero may mga flaws sya so di na lang namin gi take risk money namin.
After nun, pumunta ako sa katabing botique. Hanap hanap lang ng mabudol pero walang bet soooo umalis naang din kami. Di na rin masaya mukha ni Julian sige sunod sunod saken hahahahahahahah.
We went to Stir na lang for Gab pero sadly sobrang busy sya that day so sila Yves and Pau lang ang naabutan namin sa shop. Nag order lang kami nung avocado and banana smoothie nila. Ngl it tastes good. Very nutritious pa talaga. Happy tummy talaga. 🥰
Nag stay na lang kami dun while waiting mag start ang event for Southcore post anniversary celebration.

My Trip to USA
youtube
January 8 – 25 was the time I visited the USA with the family. I wanted to go during Vidcon Season in June but you know what they say, grab what you can. This trip, I visited 4 cities: San Fransisco, Seattle, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, and 3 states: Washington, California, and Arizona. Sadly, this trip didnt allow me to meet any online friends because either:
California is overrated to them
They can’t afford to meet me
Over the trip, I’ve shared my experiences over in a forum site where most of my online friends who live in the country could see them and now, here is a polished entry about my trip.
The Plan
Schedule: San Fransisco (Jan 8 – 12) Seattle (Jan 12 – 17) Las Vegas (Jan 17 – 20) Los Angeles (Jan 20 – 25)
Budget: $1000 spending money
Accommodations: Motel, Relatives, Planet Hollywood Suite, Marriot Hotel (Anaheim), Air BNB (Hollywood)
First Impressions
Visiting the USA is like if the Philippines and Australia were merged together. Reasons for this is because the Philippines has some historical ties with the USA and some of the places I’ve visited just reminds me when I visited Australia for the first time. Everything I’ve seen so far just felt similar to a certain extent yet different at the same time.   Nevertheless, it’s an interesting country.   Just… not like how its described in the movies.   Also it’s really… really cold… but slowly getting warmer as the days go by.
The Trip
My trip is pretty much like any tourist trip you could think off, mashed up with visiting relatives that I’ve never met or barely remember. A lot of my days were waking up really early (especially when going to the Grand Canyon) but overall, it’s worth it in the end. I pretty much went to the most suggested locations such as Alcatraz, Twin Peaks, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Space Needle, Universal Studios, Disneyland… etc, but I was able to visit other places as well like the Place of Fine Art and a Ski area around the mountains of Seattle.
For accomodation, I was able to stay in different kinds of places. From Motels to Hotels and Suites to Air Bnb, and relatives, all were comfy and accomodating. I guess my fave accomodation was the Air BnB due to how close it was to Chinese Theatre and the Walk of Fame… also Netflix.
Most of our travelling was done by relatives, public transport, and Uber… lots of Ubers… like a lot.
Photography
The entire trip was a giant photography fest (except for Seattle).
Every landmark and place I’ve visited, there was an opportunity to take great pics. Some required tripods. However, there was one shot that I was unable to achieve to capture due to weather — a sunrise shot of San Fransisco over at Twin Peaks. It was 9 degrees and very foggy, not ideal weather conditions.
I was able to use a mix of 3 devices, my Canon 70D, Canon M6 and my iPhone X. All to which were used in different conditions. Where my 70D was to capture giant landmarks in San Fransisco and night photography over at Vegas, my M6 was used when I was in amusement parks or when I’m on the constant go, while my phone was used as back up and panoramic shots.
Food
Tumblr media
The food varies from place to place. In Seattle, there was a Westfield which has a mini Philippine section and sold Jollibee, Chowking, Red Ribbon and a supermarket filled with products from the Philippines. The Jollibee literally reminded me of my old home country. It tasted really good.   Other foods were interesting as well. A friend told me to try a corn dog over in Disney’s California Adventure since “It tastes like Freedom”. I tried a Pork Cutlet Obento Box over at LA Japangeles because of Yuri!!! On Ice (I wanted to try the bowl but my folks wanted me to stick to the Obento just in case I wouldn’t finish it).
But my fave meal of all time… was my dinner over at Hexx in Vegas.
instagram
The rib eye steak w/ fries was really good and they were willing to make me Mushroom Sauce after I enquired if they had any (they didn’t). This was the first meal where I was alone, no adults to pay… just me. I had a good view of the water show over at the Bellagio Fountain. The bill totalled around $64 USD and I tipped $25 since it was really good.
My friends and family were shook when I told the tale.
Fun and activities
Vegas to LA was where the fun actually began.
Over in Vegas, I tried the Slotzilla zipline which was amazing. It felt like I was flying and they provided GoPro cameras which allowed me to film and capture the moment. It was thrilling and it reminded of that one scene in Divergent where Tris was flying down Chicago. It was amazing… but it was when you’re about to stop that made me feel like I was going to fall off and die.   The came the amusement parks.   Everyone who has visited and lived in the USA would give me tones of info about the amusement parks over in LA. That they’re the most amazing place, with tiny flaws, but are worth going. I will admit, I did have fun. All 3 parks I’ve been through have their quirks and sorts but there are also some flaws.
Disneyland
instagram
Disneyland is a good start. Its a must go since… well… it’s Disneyland! There was a mix of thrilling and calm rides and it’s a place for all ages. Sadly, due to construction, no parade. Disney’s California Adventure is very limited in rides but its very… grand. Radiator Springs was really cute and my fave ride of all time is there… the Guardians of the Galaxy Breakout. So much 4th wall breaking and screaming. Sadly, I couldn’t see the World of Color due to time restraints. Yeah, couldn’t be there the whole day since after asking advice from relatives who went and a friend who was just there months ago, Cali Adventure has so many significant closures that it was much more worth going to Disneyland first.
Tip of advice for anyone who plans to go: Master the Fast Pass System… trust me, it will save a lot of time!
Universal Studios
This has gave me lot of mixed feelings.
It’s a good park but I rather be in the one in Singapore. Most of the rides here are screen-based, meaning you’re sitting on a rocking chair whilst there’s a giant screen infront of you. It’s ok… but if almost every ride is like that… kinda a downer. Even the non-screen rollercoaster ride over in the Harry Potter area was also a downer. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was really cool though. The Walking Dead attraction literally scared the shit out of me. Like if you go there with me, you will hear me curse in both English and Tagalog due to fear. Everything else were ok… but once again, giant screen being shoved at your face while sitting on a rocking chair. The shows and tours however were interesting for those aspiring to be filmmakers as it explains how production work and so forth.
Special Mentions
Alcatraz (San Fransisco)
Alcatraz was an interesting sight to see as it’s a prison on an island but also national park. The historical context about the prison was something that gave me interest since it was known as ‘the most inescapable prison’ in the USA. I’m aware on who Al Capone is, the famous mobster in the USA. But I didn’t know he was eventually caught and sent to that slammer. It was nice to hear stories about the place from people who used to work/lived/be arrested there via audio commentary.   In the end, I got a book signed by one of the ex-convicts, William Baker. He was arrested for car robbery and when asked on of his fave moments in Alcatraz, it was leaving the place (Go Figure).
Pokemon HQ (Seattle)
instagram
Whilst in Seattle, I was able to visit the Pokemon HQ since I have a relative who works there. It was really cool seeing the place and I got some cool Pokèmerch in the end. It was a new building so not much decorations (but there will be soon). It kinda reminds me of old Club Penguin BTS videos back in 2011/12 since the building is really ergonomic and environment-friendly.
Also… SO MUCH PIKACHU PLUSHIES!!! It was really cute and I wanted one but I couldn’t (and they cost $90 – 100+ AUD on eBay).
Bellagio Water Show (Las Vegas)
It was spectacular. It goes in 15 minute intervals at night and the performance I saw, they played ‘My Heart Will Go On’ by Celine Dion and it was like seeing a ballet show done by water. It was very pretty and worth watching. Near the area are a bunch of people dressed up in costumes for photo ops (if you give a tip ofc).
Grand Canyon & Hover Dam (Arizona)
Tumblr media
I went to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, and if I could be completely honest, Hoover Dam looks better in the Transformers movie. But Grand Canyon is something that it’s hard to describe. It was very scenic, but the weirdest/most morbid thought came up to my mind which I won’t say here. Climbing up small mounds of rocks were a challenge since I had my DSLR on me but it was worth it.
The Anaheim Convention Centre & LA Japangeles (Los Angeles)
I just saw where Vidcon gets held every year… and despite it not being Vidcon season, I can just imagine and picture based on vlogs that get uploaded and photos shared on social media, that it’s a pretty jammed packed event. This place reminded me why I wanted to pursuit YouTube… to be like my fave content creators with my own little twist. It reminded me why I enjoyed being a fan and why I worship YouTube as a growing new form of entertainment. This made me denounce my ‘LazyTown’ interest for one day (or a week) and I wanted to return to my ‘Demon Phannie’ phase of my life… GetLazy wasn’t happy.
LA Japangeles is the first ‘mini Japan’ I’ve ever seen. I wanted to go to the one in San Fransisco but time contraints prevented us in doing so. It was small so don’t expect it to be grand as a Chinatown, but it was worth visiting due to aesthetics.
Overall Thoughts
I could add more into this but there is so much to talk about that occurred in 18 days that its’ hard to condense it down into one blog post. But I had a lot of fun and it was worth going to. I do hope I get to go back (especially during Vidcon Season). I also want to visit other states as well such as Utah, Texas, Denver, and etc just to meet some online friends… shame they couldn’t visit me.   But I enjoyed my trip and it was worth going to.
