Spring and summer, along with warmer weather are just around the corner. And you know what that means? Festival announcements, followed by festival season. Presented by Bell and Coors Light, OSHEAGA Music and Arts Festival‘s 17th edition will take place August 2, 2024 – August 4, 2024 in Montréal‘s gorgeous Parc Jean-Dreapeau. Over the course of 16 previous editions, OSHEAGA has become a global reference for great music and top-notch festival experiences: Attendees come to the Montréal and the festival to experience something that they simply can’t find anywhere else. Located on two islands, one which is man-made, just off the shore of Montréal Island and Vieux Montréal, Parc Jean-Drapeau was the site of the Expo 1967. The park has one of the most stunning views of Montréal’s skyline and Mont Royal, and while in the park, you’re able to catch a wide variety of artists, both emerging and established across an array of genres. Festival organizers and books have curated this year’s festival with the explicit mission of appealing to fans of every genre, style and generation. Grammy nominated, rinsing folk pop artist Noah Kahan will be headlining the festival’s first day, August 2, playing what will be a rare festival set this summer. Fans of singer/songwriter pop can also catch Hozier, who played a sold-out show at Laval’s Place Bell last year; Teddy Swims, the genre-bending artist, who has dominated Tik Tok; Melanie Martinez, the alt-pop phenom, who has amassed over 12 billion streams and more; and singer/songwriter and actor Reneé Rapp, who starred in the Broadway production of Mean Girls — and played a much-talked about, sold-out show at MTELLUS last October. If you dig punk and alt rock — and you were a child of the 90s or came of age in the 90s, OSHEAGA has got something for you: 90s punk icons Green Day will be headlining the festival’s second day, August 3. Fully expect to hear tunes from Dookie, American Idiot and more. But personally, I’d love to hear songs off Warning. Beloved old-school punks Rancid, rising Los Angeles rockers The Linda Lindas, riot grrrl legends Sleater-Kinney and The Smashing Pumpkins are the day’s biggest names. The Smashing Pumpkins return to the OSHEAGA stage for the first time in 17 years. SZA, the biggest name in pop at the moment will be headlining the festival’s third and final day. And if you dig genre-bending pop anthems. T-Pain will be making his OSHEAGA debut. The festival’s bill features a wide variety of Afrobeats and Afropop including Grammy Award winner Tyla, who won the first ever Best African Music Performance Award for her global smash hit “Water;” Nigerian artist Ayra Starr; Haitian artist Michaeël Brun, who played a sold-out Festival International de Jazz Montréal show last year. If you’re a hip-hop head who digs both chart-topping and underground emcees from across the globe, OSHEAGA will have something for you: This year’s lineup will feature Denzel Curry; Bronx emcee Lil Jay, who played Place Bell back in 2022; Swedish, experimental beat-driven sensation Bladee; British emcee Skepta, who has made a name for himself for pairing UK grime-driven bars with Afrobeat influences; Belgian emcee Hamza, who spits bars in a silky French; and Moroccan emcee ElGrandeToto. If you dig electronic dance music, OSHEAGA will have something for you: Wildly popular Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix, who headlined last year’s îLESONIQ Festival will be playing; acclaimed French electronic duo Justice will be playing OSHEAGA to support their first album of original material in seven years; British electronic music artist and producer Labrinth, best known for the music in acclaimed series Euphoria will be making a rate live appearance this year, too. Additionally, there’ll be live performances from Overmono, Iréne Drésel, Confidence Man, The xx‘s Romy and DJ sets from Uncle Waffles and Mochakk. This year’s edition will also proudly showcase homegrown acts. Roughly a third of the 2024 lineup features artists from Québec and C...

Navigating the vast expanse of the EDM realm, there emerges a name echoing with the promise of fresh rhythms and compelling storytelling: Impact Mat. Originating from the picturesque town of Leuven in Belgium, Mateusz Blommaert, who we now fervently recognize as Impact Mat, has crafted a niche that masterfully blends heart-tugging lyrics with infectious beats. A musical prodigy, Impact Mat's journey commenced with the soulful blares of a trumpet at the tender age of eight. Stirred by the sonic genius of icons like Armin van Buuren and Martin Garrix, he wasn't just content to play. With the vast expanse of YouTube as his tutor, he sculpted himself into a formidable producer, stepping onto major stages such as the Antwerp Night Marathon and Perkpop Festival, and clinching titles in numerous DJ contests. [caption id="attachment_10966" align="alignnone" width="1080"] Impact Mat's Electrifying Rise With A Symphony Of Personal Tales In 'Hugs And Fights'[/caption] His transition from being an awe-inspired clubber to an esteemed club DJ and eventually a celebrated producer is nothing short of mesmerizing. But what truly sets Impact Mat apart is his innate ability to translate the depth of his life experiences into beats that resonate, making listeners not just move but also feel. If you're seeking a taste of Impact Mat's musical prowess, look no further than his latest single, "Hugs and Fights." It's a euphoric anthem of love, laden with an irresistibly catchy chorus that stays etched in memory long after the song ends. A testament to its brilliance, "Hugs and Fights" catapulted into the top 10 of the prestigious NRJ DJ/Producer Talent Contest, brushing shoulders with the best in an arena steered by the renowned French radio entity, NRJ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo2OV6fPcfM What's particularly enchanting about Impact Mat's sonic canvas is the presence of his signature trumpet sound, weaving a unique thread of continuity across diverse tracks. This adds not just a distinct flavour but also authenticity, a testament to his staying true to his roots while exploring the vast horizons of EDM. Impact Mat isn't merely another artist in the EDM constellation. With a reservoir of ambition and electrifying energy, he's a comet, blazing forth with the sole mission of imprinting his name among the pantheon of music legends. As fans, all we can do is tune in and let ourselves be swept away by the force of his musical tide. https://open.spotify.com/album/0makXzYOm7ncAW7u17yKdZ?si=qfwfH3bITYO9xbu8qE0IZQ

okay for song recs ermmm.......one sec lemme go shuffle my playlist rq
okay im back, here you go:
icon by shuba
cross my heart by marianas trench
in my mind by lyn lapid
hero by martin garrix / jvke
stray italian greyhound by vienna teng
Icon: Sorry I couldn't finish this one :((( Not big on pop culture reference lyrics and this song is too one dimensional musically. Very safe chord progressions and patterns. ABABAB.... BORING! At least give me interesting sounds like major sevenths. Cross my Heart: Me when electric guitar 😍😍🔥🔥🔥 Fine song! If it came on the radio I wouldn't feel the need to change the station. Feels safe though in that Disney Channel movie way. Very High School Musical. Not really my thing but I liked it enough. In My Mind: This song is such a mood. I think my mom would like this song! A bit too spacey sounding for me but I REALLY liked this one. Not iPod worthy but a song I will probably listen to once in a bit! Hero: Uh oh, I dont' like the singer's voice at all. Feels Imagine Dragons inspired, and sadly I'm not a fan of their music! I do like the sliding strings in the background and the techno parts are really cool! I like a mix of sounds and genres in songs. Stray Italian Greyhound: I love piano and strings! But the stop and start style of music isn't my thing (That sort of thing happened a couple times) when the rest of the song is much more blended together, which works more for me. I LOVE SLIDING STRINGS that was a cool viola solo. I feel like I'd like the song more if it didn't have percussion or "What do I do-ah-do-ah" parts.

Deltiimo has announced a new release. “Let’s Get together Sunshine Again" (A remixed version of a 90s gem!)
Featuring vocals by Maria Louca Aged 4, and Lisa Love Barron.
May 2023 - Deltiimo is no stranger to making catchy and one-of-a-kind music with a very distinctive flow. The pair, consisting of Gary Louca and Brandon Grobler has been active ever since the early 90s, and he has been celebrating a rich and diverse discography with some amazing remixes and re-releases of original materials from the golden age. Deltiimo’s most recent release, "Let’s Get together Sunshine Again" is the next in a series of remixes of classic songs by Gary Louca, which will be released throughout 2023. In this particular case, the original version dates back to 1992. The world was so different then! Not everyone had a phone or even an internet connection for the matter, but one thing’s for sure. They knew rhythm and melody, and music left an indelible mark in culture. "Let’s Get together Sunshine Again" is a perfect example of that. The original song features Lisa Love Barron on vocals, as well as Maria Louca, Gary’s own daughter, which at the time was only 4!
The sound of this release is light-hearted and catchy, highlighting Deltiimo’s ability to create engaging melodies and uplifting atmospheric tones. The vocals are smooth and melodic, perfectly complementing the energetic instrumentation. It's a feel-good track that's perfect for dancing or just enjoying on a sunny day.
The song has a truly excellent build-up, with an all-embracing arrangement that is vibrant and electrifying. The drum hits with pulsing rhythms that seem to build in intensity as the music progresses, leading to a climax of melody and groove. The sound of the saxophone is another prominent element in the mix. This makes Deltiimo a very organic piece of music, which immediately adds a human quality to the mix due to the extra texture it brings to the song. The remix clocks in at 2 minutes and 42 seconds, but there is a lot of punch to this track! In addition, the change of rhythm that happens at about 1 minute and 36 seconds in kind of gives the music a different flow, opening up the groove and allowing the vocals to breathe for that particular segment of the song. This is the part where you really get to appreciate the bounciness of the bass line, which is warm and powerful, adding so much extra heft to the mix. The way the bass moves throughout the track creates a sense of power and fluidity, like the sound is alive and pulsating.
Overall, "Let’s Get together Sunshine Again" is a fantastic remix and even if you haven’t heard the original version from the 90s, the track has something to offer to all fans of EDM. The track is fun and dance-friendly, but there is a part of it that is absolutely mesmerizing. The deep atmosphere draws you into the music and keeps you there. "Let’s Get together Sunshine Again" is also quite a charming track if you consider the nostalgic factor. It must be an amazing and lively memory for Gary and his family to enjoy their then-4-year-old daughter’s voice in such a fresh and lively way! In addition, the combination of 90s flavors and modern remixing touches is truly outstanding. The fusion of contemporary and retro sounds makes the music outstanding and Deltiimo did a fantastic job on this remix, rendering "Let’s Get together Sunshine Again" into a colorful and iconic piece of electronic music. This is an example of how music can bridge the gaps between generations, if it’s made with passion and positivity!
Give this one a go if you enjoy the sound of artists like Martin Garrix, David Guetta, YUME or The Chainsmokers, only to mention a few!

Ice Spice Makes a Cameo During Zedd's Ultra Miami Set Ice Spice is everywhere — even at EDM festivals. On the heels of her recent Nicki Minaj endorsement and North West collab, Ice Spice made yet another iconic cameo last night at Ultra, the electronic music festival in Miami. The surprise performance came during a performance by Zedd, who welcomed the 23-year-old breakout rapper to the stage during his set. Related | Nicki Minaj Officially Endorses Ice SpiceAs seen in a video posted on Twitter, the "In Ha Mood" rapper appears on stage with "The Middle" DJ and producer as he says, "Everybody make some noise for for the one and only Ice Spice." It makes sense, knowing that Ice Spice's song "No Clarity" uses a sample from Zedd's 2012 smash single "Clarity." While it's unclear if the rave community is tuned into the rise of Ice Spice, whose real name is Isis Gaston, she has previously spoken openly about being a longtime fan of DJs like Zedd, Skrillex, and Martin Garrix — whose song "In the Name of Love" she has also sampled. In a January interview, she told NME that she enjoyed EDM music as a middle schooler in the 2010s. "At a point of time in the early 2010s around middle school, I started hearing it more when it became more popular. I was hearing Zedd and Skrillex a lot," she told the publication. "Do you remember when Skrillex was super big? That was a whole era. People went from emo to Skrillex like that." Proving that she's willing to experiment with genre, she added, "The samples were just very different, you know? It sounded so fresh, and it took drill somewhere else. It became about love and feelings."See the clip of Ice Spice and Zedd's performance below.
