Prompt 22 - Paper
@wolfstarmicrofic May 22, word count 451
Previous part First part
It took a while to get to the eye. The first bus said he didn’t have room for the wheelchair, so he drove off. The next grumbled and groused that he had to get down from his seat and flip the ramp out. Remus tried to thank him, but the driver just scowled at him and told him to make sure he put the brakes on, as he wouldn’t be held responsible if he rolled away if he had to brake suddenly.
“Your behaviour is disgusting,” Sirius growled, his hands shaking on the back of Remus’s chair. “How dare you berate him for something he can’t help?! He has every right to use public transport like everyone else in this country.” The driver scowled before a smug little smile crept over his face.
“I refuse to allow you to travel on account of your disruptive and aggressive behaviour. So, get off the bus,” Remus twisted his neck to look at Sirius, but he needn’t have bothered as Sirius moved out from behind his chair and stepped closer to the driver.
“I don’t think so,” he said softly.
“And what makes you think you have a choice?” the driver replied, folding his arms across his chest.
“Well, I, for one, have been recording you since the first grunt about getting the ramp and about eight teens right over there have been doing the same,” Sirius told him pleasantly, pointing at the phone peaking out of his top pocket. The driver's skin paled. “That, and are you aware of who owns this bus company?” The driver nodded silently. “Then perhaps I should introduce myself. My name is Sirius Black,” the driver turned green. “Perhaps you’d be so kind as to take us to our destination without any more unpleasantness?” Sirius leant in and hissed words Remus was sure only they could hear. “And if I ever get wind of you mistreating any customer again, I will make sure you never drive professionally again,” Sirius moved back behind Remus’s chair and carefully manoeuvred it into the space designated for it. He clicked the brakes on and sat down beside him on a pull-down seat.
The driver got back into his seat and pulled back out into the traffic. Sirius opened his bag and pulled out a newspaper. He dug out a pen from his bag and began filling out the crossword on the back of the paper. Remus left him to it, needing a few minutes to collect himself. It was stuff like this why he rarely left the house. He was just glad Sirius had been here, as he would probably have wheeled himself straight back off the bus if he’d been alone.

"I hope you like coloring as much as I do!", he said once. Well, luckily for him, he found someone who shares that passionate hobby of his!

Yes, butterflies live a short life
But how they dance without apology
Wings kissed by sun
Unburdened by expectation
Never asked to stay in one place
Or make themselves smaller
To fit into someone else's sky
I wish I were like them
Not for the colors
Not for the wings
But for the freedom to drift
To land where I please
Without guilt trailing behind me
Like a shadow too heavy to shed
They do not beg to be understood
They do not explain why they fly away
They just go
Soft, sudden
Graceful
In their vanishing
And I am stitched to the ground
With all these years before me
By rules, by silence, by fears
Too old for my age
Sometimes I wonder
Is it better to live briefly and freely
Than to endure a life
Where your heart
Has no room to stretch its wings?
