touch starved anon
Hi! I’m an anon already but I’m kinda shy to admit this as my other anon,
But, I think I’m touch starved? I don’t get the “feel good” endorphins when I hug my parents (usually because I’m not allowed to say no) but like, when my friends hug me and stuff it feels so lovely that I could cry. I don’t actually know how to be less surface level friends with my friends so I can stay stuff like this, but I really care about them all so much. I just want to hang out with them more. I just want to hug them more.
Hi!
I think the thing with touch is that like...it feels the nicest when it comes from people that you trust. So maybe it's that you trust your friends more than your parents? Which makes sense, seeing as the touch with your friends is a choice.
If you're not comfortable talking with your friends about it, remember that touch doesn't just have to be hugs! You can just sit close together, rest a head or hand on someone's shoulder, share a seat, link elbows, hold hands....that can all be platonic, and be physically grounding. Maybe try initiating some small touch and see how it's received? (pay attention to their reactions to make sure they're okay with it, obviously) You can also just ask "hey, can I have a hug?" without explaining the why. It's okay to ask for a hug :)
___
thoughts anon to exam results anon (slight TW...mentions of SI, unhealthy coping)
Hi Cas it's thoughts anon and I don't know if you even remember me but I'm writing about exam results anon
I think the exams they are referring to is the CBSE/ICSE Boards Examination for standards 10 and 12 (majorly Indian education boards) and I took the exams this year myself and the results came out 13th May. I was in tenth standard when I took the exams (like a sophomore, I think) and now I'm in eleventh (junior). And yes for us these exams are a pretty big deal (the twelfth standard ones are an even BIGGER deal). They, like, decide our future with no retakes or refunds. (I mean you can retake them... After a year of sitting with 10th standard students that are younger than you, learning the syllabus ALL OVER AGAIN and that's only if you fail... So.) The exams are designed to help you pass but the rest is your battle. Strangely though (as is the case with exam results anon) I got higher marks in subjects I'm not terribly good at and lower (than my usual grade) in my best subjects.
Also parents are pretty strict on this matter. My parents are different (my dad is non-existent and my mom is a college dropout). They literally expected me to fail lmao but no I got an average of 85 percent which isn't really good but I have to live with it now so :/
Anyway the situation is that parents in India are really strict about boards and it's like. Those numbers do define you. To a certain extent they define the love you receive from your family and your friends. If you get less than 80 percent then you're toast (ie you'll never get into good colleges and you'll basically never get a high-paying job) and if you FAIL... It could mean disownment. I've literally heard of people within my old school who offed themselves over these numbers but it was all covered up in the news as 'mysterious but tragic deaths'. I know. It's fucked up. It's a horrible reality. The exams themselves are simple but high stakes (like I said, they help you pass but passing is not all that matters) so there is a LOT of toxicity within the existing society about getting good grades.
There are only two types of parents in this aspect. The kind who pressurize their kids to an unholy they-can-barely-keep-up-with-it degree (like hitting and shouting at them and pushing them into too many private tuitions) and the ones who don't (because of work and all that) but wish they did. They pin their frustrations on their kids and say cruel things in the heat of the moment and you can see it, in real time, that those words register in their heads and they will remember it forever. Exam results anon seems like a pretty good student from what I can tell and they don't deserve what their mother is telling them. Feeling like everyone would be better off without your existence is something I understand. Feeling like your mother should have a better child is also something I get. For advice the only thing I've really done about my nastier emotions is shove it way down but I don't think that's very helpful (as advice but in practicality it works really well) so I'm just sending them love and support!
Hi! This is so kind of you <3 And wow....this absolutely sucks and I feel like the way people approach this isn't healthy at all...I can't imagine the pressure. And the fact that PARENTS act like this...it's frustrating. I get that there's a societal and cultural aspect involved, but I can;t imagine pushing a kid that hard.
I get what you mean about the tests being so high-stakes, but I do want to stick with my opinion that you are worth so much more than a test score. It's awful that people don't act that way, but as a PERSON, you are so much more.
Don't bottle up your emotions, though! Please talk about them <3 Vent in my inbox if you need to!
___
rainbow hearts anon
Hi cas rainbow hearts anon here! You were 100% correct with me needing a space to vent and yes I sorta do know that it will get better so I'm just really holding on for when that day comes. About the talking to someone I have thought about talking to our school counselor but I tried to earlier in the year for other issues (ik my life is so easy and problemfree) but it just ended with them telling me they would call me later and they never did and I went like three times. And he's also just really focused on the people he already knows and people he's talked to since forever so it's just another place where I feel like I don't fit so I've sorta removed that as an option unless I'm really desperate and feel like I absolutely need it. I've been doing a bit better since I sent the ask obviously none of my problems have gone away but I'm in the part of the cycle where I just had a breakdown and am now ready for more stuff to hold onto untill I eventually break again. But fun stuff now because my life isn't really all that bad my friends want to go to the fair and they invited me to go so I'm super happy but at the same time not because it is 35 dollars and I wanted to give more money to my mom or use it to buy their presents but I think I'm just going to go to the fair and give my mom some of my birthday money. And while I'm on that topic my birthday is like a month away and I am sooooo excited because I will finally get my hair dyed purple which has been my dream since forever so I'm super excited and really happy that all the work I did to convince my parents is soon going to pay off. So yeah thank you for responding to my last ask it felt so nice having someone listen to my problems and not feel judged 💜🩶🩷🧡💙🖤🩵💚🤎🤍💛❤️
Hi <3
Ugh, I'm sorry the guidance counselor wasn't very good. I hope you know that has nothing to do with you. Sounds like they don't do their job very well. Please know you're still always welcome to vent here <3
The fair sounds so fun! And purple hair, too? I have purple hair, it's the best :D If you have the money, can I suggest getting some purple pigmented conditioner (different than purple shampoo/conditioner for blondes)? It helps the purple stay longer. SO worth it.
Happy early birthday!
___
ace qpr anon
hi!! i'm here for advice and to rant :3
so i'm a high school freshman, i'm fourteen and i have no gender (afab). i'm in a qpr with my bestie who's also nb and fourteen, and we're both ace. the idea of anything yk sexual grosses me out, like even kissing and i have kind of a hard time with physical touch i don't initiate. my partner is really touchy tho and i'm kind of an angry person by nature (i blame my dad) and i'm worried that i'll blow up on them by accident if they try to press me for anything. i'm worried about it solely because i have been known to blow up at people i love and be really nice and kind to people i don't purely because i feel comfortable enough to actually express myself with people i love. i really love them /p and i don't want to lose them but i'm worried. yk. sorry to make you read all this and i hope you have a great day :)
Hi!
Okay so it sounds like both of you have some work to do here. First, if you set a boundary about not wanting to be touched, your partner needs to respect that, NO EXCEPTIONS. Your body is your body, and if your partner isn't respecting that, it might be that this partnership isn't healthy. Make sure you set those boundaries, and don't back down. You deserve that respect.
As far as getting angry...I'm gonna be very loving here when I say that just as you have control over your body, you have control over your actions. I ALSO can get angry easily, so I'm not judging you at all, please know. And recognizing that is a great first step! But now it's time to work on it. Your dad may have taught you anger, but you're old enough to not continue the cycle. If your partner does break those boundaries, you need to practice ways of saying something that's firm but KIND. Because you're right, your anger could cause you to lose them, but that responsibility is on you, as well.
I think two things I'd try is first: if you're feeling angry, step away. It's okay to take a moment to step back from the situation, knowing you might say something you regret. I do it all the time (taking a step back) and it makes a HUGE difference.
Second, practice what to say in that situation. Have the words ready. That way, it's easier to find them in the moment.
Sending you love and luck!

exam results anon
hey cas! This is exam results anon....
I talked about getting less-than-expected marks in English. To answer your question, wwe can only retake the test if we fail the subject, so i can't retake it.
But good news is, I glt into one of the most prestigious college in my state. Like it's super hard to get into it without recommendations and stuff. I had that college as my second choice but they called me for a test and personal interview a few days back. They were very impressed with my writing ability and I kinda told them that I write poetry and stuff, so they were pretty happy to offer me a merit seat in the morning batch.
So I pretty much shut people up by getting into a college without depending on anything other than my talent. My mom finally told me out loud that she's proud of me.
Thank you for your kind words in my last anon ask. I actually made that ask shortly after I got my results, so when i got into that college i was excited to tell you that everything worked out.
Thank you soo much cas.
With love, exam results anon<3
Oh my god this is AMAZING! I am so proud of you, and I hope you're proud of yourself!
As far as your mom being proud...I'm glad she is. But remember that pride in yourself is most important. You worked hard the whole time, and you should be proud of your test results AND your talents. You sound like an amazing student and an amazing person.
I hope you have a great time in college!

Hello Latte ! :) I am currently a student in ICSE and will be switching to IB next year. But the problem is I'm quiet literally unaware of most things about this curriculum. I know about TOK , EE and CAS and other general stuff. I was curious as to how the exams are conducted and how are they graded. I am having trouble understanding how my marks will get converted into points 1 to 7. Could you help me out ?
Hello! So the exams are still out of a lot of marks. Teachers are supposed to show you criteria to get a desired grade for each subject. The grades (1 to 7) depends on the percentage. Say for example, a test is out of 25 marks. If you get over a certain percentage ex: 55%, then you get a 5. (I'm using an example from some of my business tests)
Getting a 5 is easy if you put in a regular amount of work, but getting a 6 and a 7 is pretty hard and only gets harder since you have the entire syllabus to cover. Especially if you have subjects which give you essay questions on the test, because then a 7 depends on the quality of your essay.
I'm not sure if you know about the Internal Assessments so I'll just mention them here. IAs do contribute to the overall grade in the subject (most IAs are 20% of the final grade). My only advice for those is: don't procrastinate on those, get it done on time. Each subject also has at least 2 papers, sometimes 3 papers. Languages will have 4 (Reading, writing, speaking, listening). These papers also contribute a certain percentage to your final IB score.
As for how the exams are conducted, I think that depends on how your school decides to conduct it. But it will be rigid. A lot of people in my school focused on their DP year 1 exams because those are the grades many people apply to uni with (they're only the predicted grades, not the final).
Good luck for the IB and good on you that you did your research! It's the world's toughest high school programme for a reason :')

Factors to Choose Best Schools in North Bangalore and Schools in Yelahanka
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions for any parent. In a city like Bangalore, where education is highly valued, there is no shortage of excellent options. Particularly in North Bangalore — a fast-growing, well-planned area — parents will find a wide range of reputable institutions to consider. Among these, schools in Yelahanka are drawing considerable attention from families, thanks to the region’s improved connectivity and excellent residential communities.
But with so many choices, how do you pick the right school for your child? In this guide, we’ll discuss key factors to consider when selecting the best schools in North Bangalore, with a focus on top schools in North Bangalore and high-performing schools in Yelahanka.
Why North Bangalore and Yelahanka Are Preferred Schooling Hubs
Over the past few years, North Bangalore has transformed into one of the most sought-after regions for families. With infrastructure improvements like the Kempegowda International Airport, Outer Ring Road, and upcoming metro lines, more families are moving to this part of the city.
Schools in Yelahanka especially benefit from this development. Yelahanka offers an excellent blend of modern residential townships, green surroundings, and top-tier educational institutions. Many top schools in North Bangalore have set up branches here to cater to the growing demand.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a School
Whether you're choosing between best schools in North Bangalore or reputable schools in Yelahanka, here are the key factors that can help you make an informed decision:
1. Curriculum and Academic Track Record
The first thing many parents look for is the academic strength of a school. In Bangalore, you will find institutions offering various curricula: CBSE, ICSE, IB, IGCSE, and state board.
If you are looking at top schools in North Bangalore, check their academic record over the past 5-10 years — including board results, competitive exam outcomes, and higher education placements.
Many schools in Yelahanka such as Ryan International School, NPS Yelahanka, and Canadian International School boast excellent academic programs tailored to meet modern standards.
2. Teaching Methodology and Faculty
It’s not just about the syllabus, but how the school delivers it. The best schools in North Bangalore often follow progressive teaching methods — moving away from rote learning towards activity-based, experiential, and inquiry-driven learning.
When evaluating schools in Yelahanka, speak with the faculty, attend demo classes if possible, and check reviews from existing parents to gauge the quality of teaching.
3. Infrastructure and Facilities
A good learning environment requires more than just a classroom. Top schools in North Bangalore are investing heavily in state-of-the-art infrastructure:
Smart classrooms
Science and computer labs
Libraries
Sports complexes
Music and art rooms
Playgrounds
Many schools in Yelahanka now offer comparable facilities to the leading institutions in other parts of the city, making them highly competitive choices.
4. Extracurricular Activities
A well-rounded education must go beyond academics. Many best schools in North Bangalore offer a variety of extracurricular programs — arts, music, dance, sports, debate clubs, leadership training, and community service initiatives.
Schools in Yelahanka are known for their focus on holistic development. For instance, Canadian International School has excellent art programs, while Chrysalis High Yelahanka places strong emphasis on athletics and performing arts.
5. School Culture and Values
Before shortlisting a school, parents should understand the school’s philosophy and culture. Does it promote inclusivity? Is the learning environment nurturing and supportive? Are students encouraged to express themselves and think critically?
The top schools in North Bangalore are those that focus not just on academic excellence, but also on developing character, leadership, and social responsibility among students.
6. Location and Commute
While considering schools in Yelahanka and best schools in North Bangalore, location is an important factor. A long and stressful commute can tire children and affect their learning experience.
Fortunately, Yelahanka’s well-planned layout, good roads, and upcoming metro connections make commuting easier for students. Many residential communities in Yelahanka are located close to top schools, making them attractive for young families.
7. Parental Feedback and Reviews
Before finalizing your choice, consult with other parents whose children are already enrolled in your shortlisted schools. Reviews on Google, parenting forums, and neighborhood groups can give you a real-world picture of the school’s strengths and challenges.
When evaluating top schools in North Bangalore, word of mouth often carries more weight than glossy brochures or marketing pitches.
8. Affordability and Value for Money
Finally, consider the fee structure and whether the school offers value for money. Remember, the most expensive school is not always the best.
Many schools in Yelahanka provide world-class facilities and experienced faculty at a more affordable fee structure compared to central Bangalore schools, making them a smart choice for value-seeking parents.
Conclusion
Whether you are looking at schools in Yelahanka, exploring the best schools in North Bangalore, or comparing top schools in North Bangalore, the key is to evaluate what fits best for your child’s learning style, interests, and your family’s needs.
North Bangalore — especially areas like Yelahanka — is fast emerging as a hub for top-notch education. With modern campuses, high academic standards, and a balanced approach to student development, many schools in Yelahanka now rival their counterparts in other premium parts of Bangalore.
Take the time to visit schools, interact with the staff, and get honest feedback from other parents. After all, a good school can set the foundation for your child’s future success — both academically and personally.
