Agneepath(2012) is one of those rare movies, I feel are better than the original. Like unpopular opinion but The original Agneepath was lowkey boring and too otp for me. The Hrithik one though, just felt so personal.
Like the scene where his sister comes to meet him for example. He is emotional yes but that moment when he sees her clearly, he sees that little baby he once held in his arms, the way his expression changes from teary to heartbreakingly disbelieving, that moment breaks me. It is everything his mother didn't allow him to have, right in front of him. And in that moment, his breath is stuck.
And then he walks towards her, as if in a trance, as if it is a dream that could break at any moment, because for all he knows it could be. It's too impossible to think that his little hope is with him, knows him, loves him. It's too impossible for him to hope but he wishes so hard for it to be real. So he walks without taking a single breath, afraid to break the trance.
And then, she lays her head on his chest, on his heart, her rightful place. And suddenly breath rushes into his lungs, he feels his heart beat, he is more than a little blown because it is real. His little sister, that little baby for whom Vijay wanted to live for, all those years ago when he still had his mother, knows him, loves him, is with him. A will to live returns to his heart after fifteen long years. After fifteen long years, Vijay feels alive.
Yeah anyway this scene killed me, one of Hrithik's best ever performances, enhanced 1000% by Sonu Nigam's voice going Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin Baali Thodi Si Hai Zindagi
Watching Agneepath is like watching a puppy die, it's so fucking sad, I need to stop rewatching it but Alas I'm a sucker of self inflicted pain.
