You know Idol Tsuna’s fans love Reborn and Skull

Not only are they hot as hell, they make Tsuna happy and beat the shit out of people for being rude to him

I keep joking that Idol Tsuna is the people’s princess but I really do think he would have a devoted group of fans that adore him. To the point where pretty split at first because there’s no way anyone would be good enough for their Tsuna.

But the more and more pictures come out of Reborn leading Tsuna with a hand on his lower back or Tsuna laughing as he puts a pair of silly sunglasses on Reborn or Reborn protecting Tsuna from the paparazzi and people start to think that maybe this is it maybe there is one person that is worthy of Tsuna. (Plus the whole “forbidden” workplace romance of idol and bodyguard doesn’t hurt)

Then Tsuna is photographed at a metal concert and his fans go wild. That doesn’t seem like his scene why is he there of all places? But then Skull starts dedicating songs to some nameless person, and comes out with the most romantic rock ballads they’ve ever heard, and jokes about his good luck charm in the crowd of the same shows Tsuna is seen at and speculation goes wild. Its literally the skater boy/goody two shoes trope and people are eating it up. By the time the first picture of the two of them kissing outside a club hits the papers right around the time as Skull getting blasted in certain online circles for breaking a paparazzo’s camera the ship wars between the two factions are insane.

Then more and more pictures come out of Tsuna with both of them in increasing compromising positions and people are losing their minds trying to figure out who Tsuna is actually with. Most of all Tsuna tbh.

(Both factions of Tsuna’s fans can agree however that they will accept both of them if they keep punching people who upset their idol.)

Okay y’know something that annoys me is people complaining about how Tsuna accepts Mukuro immediately despite all the terrible things he’s done when

That’s literally the point lol, because Tsuna has decided against all odds that he likes Mukuro, because that’s what primo would have done

And it makes me think about the mafia at large’s reaction if Tsuna ever actually DID become Decimo, and the change he’d bring with him.

Because a return to Primo’s ideals is NOT what the mafia wants! A return to Primo’s ideals means many Famiglia would lose power and money

You think the mafia WANTS that? No! They, like every ruling class who idolizes a religious figure (because let’s face it Giotto is practically mafia Jesus to these people) have an idealized view of that figure that they praise and hold as the Perfect Being and allegedly use as a mark of morality, but hate anyone who actually UPHOLDS the ideals they’re enshrining!

War and drugs and human trafficking and weapons means lots and lots of money and lots of lots of little people to lord it over.

Helping the poor, the disenfranchised, the sick, the so called dregs of society, CARING about people like Primo did and like Tsuna WOULD, means the loss of that.

Tsuna, unlike Timoteo, is not a shrewd and experienced moderate who went into things with big dreams of a better future and ended up on a slow slide to further decay that takes everything he has to prevent from devolving into further bloodshed

Tsuna is the exact same type of hero as Vongola Primo, and he will be crushed under the weight of those ideals in exactly the same way.

One way or another, Vongola WILL end with Tsuna’s reign. Either he manages to destroy it like he promised he would, or Vongola destroys itself at the hands of his grieving family who burn the world to ashes for having the gall to make the Sky fall to a place they can’t reach

You want a non-cliché male (shounen) protagonist? I got it!

Something that I literally can’t get out of my head recently is how I constantly see discourse about the staleness of male MCs - especially shounen manga protagonists - always so ready and accepting of being the Chosen One. Always so ready to discard their “mundane” life and embark on some dangerous mission. Outspoken, fiery and with unbeatable charisma.

And while we are beginning to see (minimal) change with recent books/manga, do you know who was literally the antithesis of this a lot of years ago?

Tsuna.

Tsuna who was literally the last choice for everything, whose nickname was Loser-Tsuna, constantly bullied and harassed and whom nobody thought he would ever amount to anything. 0 friends, 0 abilities, 0 accomplishments. 

And when some guy to tell him “You can become the head of a mafia family. You’re gonna be respected, sought after.”, when Reborn serves him POWER on a silver platter... Tsuna says “oh hell no, fOck all that”, turns tail and RUNS. 

He won’t manage to escape forever, but that’s beside the point. Tsuna is a coward, a plain nobody, so boringly normal that in any other anime he would be for sure one of the background filler characters. He isn’t cut to be a protagonist. He’s wimpy, weak and whiny, sometimes to the point of being annoying ever for me - and I love KHR.

But what fascinates me is this. A character so weak and bullied, usually would be elated to have that much power offered to him. I knew that he was the protagonist, so the first time I watched the series I was expecting him to accept the power and better himself, become a different person, a hero. (Or, if he was in another manga, a villain.) 

Instead, not only Tsuna refuses - again and again, until the very end - to become who he was destined to be, who everyone around him wants him to be; but the only time he uses the power he was gifted with is strictly to protect himself, his friends and family. And then he quickly steps away immediately after, like when you move a scalding pot without mittens. 

His guardians have become... his guardians, in order, because: 1) he saved his life, so he thinks he’s cool 2) mostly head empty, only vibes (also he saved his life) 3) a literal child bribed with candy 4) somebody else asked him and he just went with the flow 5) one crumb of kindness got them hooked (actually 2 psycopaths in one body and it’s not a metaphor) 6) doesn’t give a shit as long as you give him a good fight. 

Sure, at some point they all recognize his strenght, but apart from Gokudera’s blind idolization, for everybody Tsuna is just A Guy. He might be their “boss”, and they might come to respect him, but he gets treated nothing like a cliché male MC. 

It’s really a shame that Katekyo Hitman Reborn, as a series, was managed badly as it did. Even though it’s one of my favorite shows, it’s weakened by a lot of factors... but an uninteresting MC? It ain’t one!

I smell a reboot in the air. I really hope they will to the series justice.

I think a magical girl AU for KHR (i know ive made one but discard that) could work in hilarious ways with reborn arcobaleno being tsuna's magical guide. And he doesn't want to be a magical girl (or boy but to me magical girl is a genderless job term like doctor and mafia boss) but like, what's he gonna do when a monster attacks the school and kyoko-chan is in danger? Save her of course. He's glad PE got cancelled though.

Then once he gets a taste of being able to save people he starts doing more and more. Then you can have gokudera joining in like kyoko from pmmm, a rival magical girl from another town moving into the territory. Who is his magical companion? No fucking clue. You decide.

Hibari gets tilted that this fucking magical girl is IN HIS TERRITORY and DOING HIS JOB and FIGHTING THINGS WITHOUT HIM that he keeps trying to track MG!Tsuna down. Hijinks happen with Tsuna being able to assume his nondescript normal boy form and narrowly escaping hibari every time.

Yamamoto finds an idol in MG!Tsuna because she's always trying her best all the time! He joins the fan club. Thinfs get very awkward for Tsuna when Yamamoto finds one of the MG weapons in Tsuna's possession but incorrectly assumes its a toy version tsuna made because tsunas a fan too. They attend the fan club together.

Mukuro obviously is either a magical girl gone rogue or working for the nebulous magical girl enemies that gets converted to being somewhat allies against a greater threat. Likely mukuro's crew got targetted by the nebulous enemies, leading to mukuro and tsuna having to work together to rescue them.

Ryohei's just there. I dont really know what to do with him. He should have the funniest fucking crush on MG!Tsuna.

Lastly reborn and the other arcobaleno are revealed to be under a curse, as you do, and that they were the previously chosen magical girl group or something and this is the end result for every magical girl like pmmm or, well, khr

Except it's not just one individual it's the whole Black Bulls squad (and maybe even extra people)

Just imagine the Comedy™ of the Arco being Across and then we pull into Skull's head and start listening to every member of the bulls saying something at the same time with no one fronting .

Because yes they change who is on front a lot . Even if Asta , Finral , Vanessa , Charmy and Nacht front the most , and Zora if he is feeling vindictive .

And I can just imagen that every Arco has their favorite person for fronting :

Luce - Vanessa and Asta

Reborn - doesn't sticky have a favorite but prefers Asta and Noelle the most because of how he can teze them

Fon - Met Nacht once(while the bulls were new to the whole one body thing) and decided this is gonna be his personality from now on while everyone else is depressing because there is another one now

Viper - despite being amused and even somewhat friendly to Zora , Vanessa and Nacht actually has Charmy as their favorite . They are also the only one who knows and suspected that the Arco's Cloud is actually multiple people in one body (is not sure if it was a mist thing gone wrong , born with multiple souls or if Skull has multiple personalities)

Lal - can't decide between Luck and Magna (If Mereoleona is not here that is)

Collonelo - the favorite is Luck

Verde - Would be Zora if it wasn't for the facts a) Zora is fully on having a prank war with him and b) Verde is so prideful that he won't recognize Zora as someone of his level

Neither the Arco nor the mafia knew that Skull was actually multiple people until one fateful dinner bal in the Vongola mansion when the topic of cloud's being able to clone themselves came up . And immediately Skull asks very enthusiastically how to do it and gets shown how to do it .

At which point the black bulls (more specifically Gauche as he has experience in how to make clones) make a clone for each person of them and that is when shit hit the fan .

Finral and Vanessa immediately started raiding the cellar for wine .

Nacht started to insult everyone other than the children (aka Tsuna , Enma , Lambo , Ippin and Futa) left , right , up and down . In the background Fon is on the verge of tears because he recognized this smile that is his idol . While everyone else is deeply terrified .

Charmy is starting a raid on the kitchen .

Asta and Collonelo are having a full on screaming match while fighting . Bonus points if Yuno , Libei and Lal are looking at them cheering on

Zora continues being a menace to Verde .

Noelle raiding the nearest armory so she can kill Reborn for what he has said for her family .

Luck and Magna fighting and drawing people in the fight . Gray is trying to stop them while Gauche is cheering them on .

Nero is looking at this and recording it for later .

Gordon and Henry are babysitting Tsuna and the rest of the kids .

And at some point Yami (with a cigarette in his mouth as always) punches the nearest wall while telling them to shut up and to stop destroying things , only for the wall he punched to crumble . Of course that causes the true shinanagans to start .

While the Black Bulls are having their normal (for them) life everyone else is losing their mind because the Arcobaleno Cloud Skull just cloned himself and now there are like a dozen clones of him and all with their own personality and different flame at that . Serious what the fuck?!?

While all of this is going on Viper is having a poker face of innocence while giggling on the inside .

Do you have any other characters besides Iroha and Anri?

Hi! Thanks for the question. We have more characters, we're going to draw profiles for each one, it's just going to take some time. For now we can give you some information about them (read below)

Saiki Rinka

Gyaru of Namimori Middle School and Iroha's classmate. A popular girl, she can't be called a school idol like Kyoko, however, every guy wants to date her. She gives the impression of a bright and friendly personality, however, Rinka is the most real fan of the occult. Ghosts? Local urban legends? Demons? She need this! Her grandparents own one of the big temples in Namimori. Hell knows what goes on in that girl's head... Don't judge a book by its cover. By the way, she doesn't believe in aliens.

Motoyasu Kaede

She is a quiet girl who is a part of the study committee of Namimori Middle School. She loves to read, spends most of her time in the library helping the librarian, is modest and quiet. She is not good at talking to people, preferring to write rather than talk, and goes everywhere with her notebook in which Kaede writes what she wants to say.

Karasuno Seiji

That name will say nothing to anyone in Middle Nami. Why? Because that guy only shows up at school once a month. And he's a part of the Disciplinary Committee! It's unclear what he's doing there, but Seiji seems to have some kind of big debt to Hibari which he prefers to keep to himself. In any case, he only shows up at the school when Hibari needs something. Constantly acts according to his own whims and desires, often without regard for the opinions of others. The problems associated with this guy are compounded by the fact that he's not afraid to take risks and interfere in matters that don't concern him.

Asahina Yuu

Yuu is the vice president of the student council, a guy who looks like a yanki but is actually a big supporter of order. He has bleached hair, which makes him look like a gangster, but he is one of the biggest nerds in the school. He keeps a close eye on everything that goes on in the school, reporting to Anri, and may be called the president's chain dog. He dreams of becoming a police officer, he found out about Vongola when he was following Gokudera in an attempt to find out if he was a criminal.

Li Fang

Anri’s bodyguard, her favorite "big brother". A professional sniper, a member of the Shui Zhi Xin faction since childhood, one of the orphans taken in off the street by Jason Han. His older brother Li Wen owns a fried noodle shop called "Bloody Tofu" while Li Fang is actually Anri’s personal driver, butler, cook and bodyguard in Namimori.

Yakushiji Chiyu

A member of the health committee, her parents own a small clinic. She dreams of continuing the family business and becoming a doctor, in many ways Chiyu is a typical "good girl". She studies hard, always follows the rules, and loves to nerd out and lecture any truant students like Seiji. However, she's terrified of literally everything and shakes like a leaf in the face of danger. Chiyu will be the first to scream that everyone is going to die. What's to say that she wants nothing to do with the mafia, but fate has its own plans for her.

Nagahime Akane

Half Japanese and half American. Moved to Japan as an exchange student, but is the daughter of one of the powerful American mafia families that is closely related to the Vongola. This fact makes her... Tsuna's fiancée, yes. What you wouldn't do for Vongola. Akane is her family's favorite and a slightly spoiled princess, she knows her own worth, loves herself very much and has an unrealistically huge ego. Totally unaware of how life works outside of her little world, so she sees no problem flying a helicopter into the school and getting the attention of all the students.

Caramel Purin

CEDEF agent, arrived in Namimori to test Tsuna by trying to kill him, but instead got lost in the city. The hand-to-hand combat master is actually completely blind, but that doesn't stop her from being a good fighter and performing her tasks perfectly, even if her spatial orientation is very poor. She likes to drink, and in Vongola it is said that not even her superior can overdrink her.

Mona

One of the few adult characters in this place. Owns her own store where she sells some crap. Antiques, lost items, you can buy anything you want there. Where she finds it all, however, remains a mystery, but Nana likes this store. She bought amulets there for Tsuna so that he can do well in his studies! He never did, but he got the amulets anyway. The friendly and sweet "big sister" is actually a very murky person who doesn't let anyone get too close to her. How she came to be in Namimori is a mystery, but one thing is certain: she is more connected to the mafia than anyone can imagine.

Astra Alice

Young genius of Varia, a year older than Belphegor, considered the youngest of the officers, and his close "friend". Head of the science complex in Varia, her passion is radio-electronic assembly. One of those who were able to understand and improve Gola Moska’s structure, she is considered its mistress, hates boredom and when her clothes get dirty. Despite this, is one of the best assassins in Varia, who followed the wrath of Xanxus in hopes of never being bored again

Dorothy

One of Varia's illusionists. Distinguished by unemotional behavior, rarely showing a wide range of emotions. Dorothy makes no conscious effort to understand people, and her level of empathy towards others, especially those she is not close to, is limited. She often ignores the feelings of others, especially if they are unfamiliar to her. Indulges in Belphegor's eccentric antics, perhaps because they are the same age they can be called friends?

Just having some fun and dumping some random headcanons on little things that I think would surprise people about Tsuna and his Guardians! I hope you'll enjoy my weird, random little headcanons!

Tsuna has a really hard time remembering passwords and pin codes. He uses the most guessable passwords (either his name, one of his friends names, or Kyoko's name...or just the word password and then 123). And when it comes to his pincode for his debit card? It's 1234 because otherwise he cannot for the life of him remember it.

Gokudera is actually really skilled at origami and he sometimes finds himself doing it in front of the television late at night, just as something to keep his hands busy, especially if he's had a stressful day.

Yamamoto hates it when people roll their socks into a ball and he refuses to wear socks that have been rolled. He claims it ruins the elastic in them. It's just one of those weird little pet peeves he has.

Lambo is scared of Santa Claus. Not the actual Santa Claus, who brings him presents and candy, because he likes that Santa, especially since Lambo never has to see him. Shopping mall Santa's though, or the ones out on sidewalks collecting for charity?? They scare him and creep him out so bad and nobody, not even Lambo, fully understands why.

Ryohei can't help but sing along to certain idol groups. Kyoko has a few she really loves and plays often, and Ryohei has gotten so used to hearing them. And a lot of those songs are ones that get stuck in your head, ones that are super easy to just sing along to, and he'll find himself humming a few notes or singing along if he hears the song without even fully realizing what he's doing.

Hibari has a bad habit of riding his motorcycle without a helmet. He doesn't really like the way it feels and largely considers himself above the law anyway.

Mukuro gets really bad rage-fits when playing video games, especially if they're competitive. Even when they're not competitive, but are simply a little bit hard, like Elden Ring, he has a really bad habit of getting really pissed off, swearing under his breath and almost crushing the control in his hands or destroying the gaming console he's playing on.

Chrome can crack all of her toes. It's kind of gross but cool at the same time.

Social status: non-existent.

Rio is consciously average. You know why? Because it's the best way to avoid attention. When people hear Yamamoto, they always think of Takeshi. Is there another one? Never heard of them.

She makes sure her committee tasks are well done so there are no problems on her part; she does her homework well enough, but never perfectly; she keeps her grades not too high nor too low, so neither her classmates would be jealous nor her teachers would worry about her.

(Every rose has a thorn, and Rio's is P.E. There's no way she doesn't get compared to Takeshi or expected to be like him in that class).

She always makes this nice smile and answers when someone talks to her but doesn't engage in conversation deeply enough for people to recall her.

It's all a conscious effort.

Easier to manage during her first year, as she was in a different class than the rest, truth to be told.

But she can adjust pretty well to the new situation in her second year, with all the group and, for the first time in her life, Takeshi in the same class.

Social status: Yamamoto Rio

There's one exception, one who has known her name apart from her brother's and is painfully aware of her existence since almost day one.

Hibari can't explain why nobody else talks about what he considers an elephant in the room: the empty chair during the morning meetings.

That's against the rules. And if he has to stop by Takesushi at dawn to grab Yamamoto Rio by the hair and drag her to school, he might do it...

Or so he thinks, but Rio is lucky and she always manages to avoid or shut down Hibari's 'bite you to death' mode.

Answering this first because it's easier. Under the read more because it's long af...

☆▪︎Momina's Social Status in Namichu Hierarchy ▪︎☆

Due to Momina's friendly and bubbly persona, she is someone who is easily liked and can befriend others pretty easily as well. She's someone who can somewhat easily assimilate into groups, even if inside she is feeling very anxious, she tries her best to swallow and be a part of a community. This added to the fact she's from ~ The Americas ~ the students of Namimori Chuu become instantly interested in her, and she's readily accepted. They keep assuming she's American, though... honestly, had Namimori Chuu been a kinder school, there'd have been no real problems. However, Momina is: 1. Short tempered, 2. Has a strong sense of justice 3. Has a strong maternal instinct, so naturally seeing how folks can sometimes treat Tsuna would set her off. [Sometimes because by the time she did show up Tsuna was someone who occasionally was treated decent by his classmates. It really depended on their whims...] and whenever Momina saw that, she'd instantly get herself involved and call them out...! Much to Tsuna's [inner] protests and uncomfortability... this naturally led to some disruptions in class because while some would immediately back down, some would actually argue back [something that'd set her off even more... "You're arguing with me when you're being awful...!?"] She can actually be stern and strict at times, so this could also get her labeled as being "a nag." Like, for example... people leaving Tsuna or another classmate to do the classroom cleaning alone...? Not on her watch! She'll make sure she helps, but if she catches the runaways before their escape, she'll scold them into doing their part. Momina is not afraid to go to Hibari and the disciplinary committee...! So there's also some mutterings of her being "a snitch." Momina just rolls her eyes at that and says,"Do your freaking job then!"

So I don't see her as someone super popular, but I do see her as someone who is generally well liked. I like to think she's middle ground level popularity, maybe even below average to some with the "nag" and "snitch" allegations but she's frankly super cute and friendly so of course she'll generally have an easy time.

If I had to guess another thing that'd cause her issue it be her friendships with both Takeshi and Hayato. Momina has other scattered friend groups but there are some she orbits around more than others [Kyoko/Hana, Miruku, Tsuna/Takeshi/Hayato, and later Chrome] because she adores them especially and has lots of concern for them. [Yeah, she's a Worry Wart.] This would have been fine had that not meant that she wasn't spending time with both Takeshi and Hayato. :) it doesn't help that Hayato and Momina are often seen heading to and from school at one point, have the same lunches, and their relationship is so close? [Hayato has a tendency to rummage through her bag for food or money...] meanwhile with Takeshi their relationship seems too friendly...! Too much laughing/giggling, joking, playing and touching...! As a result, their fangirls find her to be a homewrecking scumbag...! Where does she get off being so close to them? And both of them!? Talk about being greedy...! She is clearly a pick-me girl best friend. 🙄 Momina has gotten cornered multiple times by a group of them. Honestly, Momina used to be someone who'd get into fist fights, but she's trying to do that less, so she actually just clenches her fists and angrily glares at them. This leads to a standoff because, of course, they don't want to actually risk being hurt, but it is usually broken up by someone coming along. Either the disciplinary committee [which, tbh has led to them all getting beat up], a random classmate, teacher, or one of her friends. The latter can be an issue if it's Takeshi or Hayato themselves. Hayato, especially because he gets angry and aggressive at the scene...which only worsens things in his fangirls' eyes. [Not that this matters to Momina, who is staring at Hayato with starry eyes and thanking him profusely or Hayato, who is now feeling shy and trying to hide it.]

This was super long fjjf, but yeah...! Momina is well liked enough to be treated well for the most part but has some annoying titles. Another reason I like to think she's actually well liked is how despite how she can be... she...is... well, she loves helping people...and frankly if it's her, she can be easily manipulated into doing things. Something Namimoru Chuu students have picked up on and take advantage of. "Momo-chan, can I have some money? I'll pay you back!" [Never does], "Momo-chan, can you help me?" [She does, no matter how often asked. In fact, she'll go above and beyond! Like, if she cant help you, she'll find someone who can. Unprompted.] One of her secret titles at school is "Sucker." Ibaraki-Douji (Assassin)

I’ve been mulling over an incarnation of Ibaraki in a hypothetical Grail War, and I realized I barely had to change her skills to suit this class.

Ooe Massacre, Ibaraki-Douji has succeeded in becoming more similar to her idolized compatriot - a result of her endeavors to discover what it means to be a true oni. Yet, it feels much more has been lost in exchange…”

I don’t know if her Noble Phantasm is grammatically-correct, but I’m taking a page out of Nasu’s book and using it anyway. Mashiba is the name of the disguise Ibaraki took to infiltrate Tsuna’s estate to retrieve her arm - the face of his aunt/foster mother.

I will never quite forgive Amano for is not fleshing out her main character. Nearly every other character has something they want but Tsuna is characterized mostly by what he does not want: Tsuna does not want to be a Mafia boss. Okay, my man, then what *do* you want? This is honestly perfect for early series Tsuna who is so unmotivated that he literally has zero aspirations, but at some point it would have been wonderful for him to have been characterized by a personal desire that informs his identity. Wanting the class idol to like him is about as character defining as fearing the school bully.

Same complaint about Byakuran as a villain. What was his perfect world? What did he want that he could not achieve without the powers of a god? He's a delicious character I love creating fanon for, but being dissatisfied with the way the world is is not descriptive enough to inform who he is as a person and what he values.
