So I don't have 'the book of bill' yet, but it's making the gf tag trend so i poke my head in once in a while when the tumblr search preview promises and denies me an art i might be interested in

I am fascinated by the discourse. Although one particular post seemed like it was trying to suggest Bill is entirely aroace - and therefore billford shipping is Unwarranted - based on quotes from the book where bill makes a whole point of being all 'eww humans and their relationships are gross or whatever'

And like. As someone aroace. Y'kno what he absolutely could be. But I feel like... after a point a) it goes against the text of all gravity falls material (and more importantly, Sub-text) to assume that he's being entirely 1000% honest and is not even a teensy tiny bit lying or In Blatant Denial because like. Lbr, it plays into his crafted untouchable villain image to take his hokey 'lmao humans Gross and Foreign and Silly' words at face value;

and b) him being aroace doesn't go against any of the stuff that's leading to people hyped on the ship train either, in this case. Specifically because there's a LOT of cues, implications, so on and so forth, that make it clear Bill had some sort of possessive fixation on Stanford. Romantic, platonic, qpr, whatever.

Was it healthy? Obviously not, kind of the whole point of the events that were the basis of everything we see onscreen in the show. But that doesn't mean it's not there either. Whatever it is.

And honestly even if he were aroace he's clearly some sort of favorable, if only because he used his own goddamn romance advice on Ford in the series finale. Even if you argued he's trying and failing to manipulate ford using romance tactics and doesn't feel it like. He obviously is not as repulsed as he's trying to sound if THAT'S the angle he played. Which again calls the veracity of his words into question, just a bit.

(Also a note on another quote I saw - in a section titled "exes" - yeah he claims he has none, wants nothing to do with it etc. But there is also BLATANT lines blacked out above that. That should kind of tip you off that maybe. He's not being honest with us besties.)

Idk. I may be taking the intent of the aroace post out of context and/or misunderstanding tbqh, part of why I'm making my own post. But that and the people screeching how the dynamic is toxic - as if that prevents it from being there in the text, and makes it unexplorable - just had me thinking.

My issue with lloyd x the other ninja ships is with the previous seasons and the fact that he was so much younger than them at that time, I understand that he’s older now, probably about 15-18 idk, but shit dude he’s still like all the others’ little sibling, they’ve already got that kinda relationship, y’know? Ive got all the tags blocked n shit, its whatevers.

I’m alright with lloyd x ocs in healthy relationship cases, where they’ve either met after the tomorrow’s tea episode and/or were similar ages before then (eg, lloyd and harumi had no issues age-wise because we know she was about 10 before the devourer attacked ninjago, as was lloyd. This is just an example tho im not a particular fan of lloyd x harumi either lol he got trauma from her and all yknow).

As for Lloyd x Morro, i dont really have any stronggg opinions on it, like sure u can interact and all esp if you’re doing it in a ‘fuck canon, it didnt happen’ kinda way, its not really my fave tho ngl, u do u in that case tho ig.

For me I think it comes down to specific ships and how stuff is handled, where stuff is posted and what intentions are.

Like. Ugh mmn I really don't want to get too into it but like. For example, a sexual relationship between Roy and Ed being portrayed positively by the narrative gives me Bad VibesTM.. Ed was 10 when they met...... Like. No. Yikes.

The worst trope that can be so so harmful and that's so often fics like that is the whole "ohh no people judging the age difference and warning the younger partner are so oppressive and you should cut them out this is equal to homophobia" please put the pen down, think about your life choices and read about grooming.

Then again. A sexual relationship between them being portrayed positively by a POV Character while being treated as a serious issue and causing problems is Interesting And Real. I've never seen this done at all in fanfic and geschweige denn done well. I don't doubt it's out there. I'm just saying point one is something I've seen a ton of and point two like. Nothing. (A book that did this incredibly well was Der Vorleser. Read with caution it's. Super real and there's Nazis and all that. It's a lot. I would not have touched this if I hadn't been forced by school. But it's really good and interesting and I have Opinions on it)

We need to examine the media we consume critically and that includes fan works. And we need to call out dangerous tropes like the one I described cause they can seriously fuck with people, especially vulnerable groups that are absolutely the majority of the consumers of these works.

We also should hold off on making blanket statements such as "if you write about x relationship you're fucked up"

That being said, with the prevalence of these relationships being handled awfully in fan works i don't blame anyone who distrusts people who write about them.

Honestly most of anything so long as it’s appropriate since Kil’s 15 in most of my verses and even though I’m technically old enough to do nsfw now I don’t want to asdfghjj.

How  large  does  the  age  gap  have  to  be  to  make  it  uncomfortable? 

Honestly I’m less focused on age gaps (within reason) than I am the context of it? For Kil I don’t mind a gap of 1-2 years but it really depends on the context. Like with Sinbad he’s a year older and it’s chill but I wouldn’t ship her with like, Ja’far, since he’s still a kid basically? 

Are  you  selective  when  shipping? 

I mean kinda??? Like I’ll ship her with anyone that has chemistry with her and isn’t too young/old but with as many aus as I have there’s a lot of opportunity still so *kinda shrugs* I guess.

Just nothing sexual, cuddles and kisses and hugs only lads. She’s baby. And even in verses where she’s not baby I’m baby in major key so no sexual stuff for her. (Some like. jokes are fine I mean putting her in sexual situations)

We’ve got Sinbad, Kaz, Morgiana, and I’m still considering w Kougyoku but so far I haven’t been able to get that to work since Kougs isn’t much her type. (The last three of those are all in aus in case it had anyone confused ahifdogh)

Honestly just let me know if you do want to ship I wouldn’t say you have to ask necessarily though letting me know is good if you want me to like. Actually write shippy stuff since I can sometimes be slow on the update.
