The fact that they deleted Jace kissing Baela’s cheeks pisses me awf. Like we can’t even get that? They are teenagers in love, only feel safe to truly confide in one another and they have never kissed once? They’ve known each other and have lived together since they were kids. They really expect us to believe that they haven’t even shared a chaste peck? They don’t even hug and barely have screentime together.

literally!! I mentioned the kiss scene here a while back but it’s still true. season two legitimately feels like filler outside of the rooks rest episode. and for a season that feels like filler, the writers are certainly focusing on the WRONG things to fill the time. the fact that alicent has more screentime than all of teamb and teamg kids… a season meant to be about the children yet all of them are given scraps. criston cole has more screentime than teamb kids! this alone tells me the writers aren’t serious about developing jacaela.

i had to suffer three consecutive episodes of baela not saying anything. rhaena doesn’t show or say much of anything (and it’s growing clear her storyline has now been swapped for nettles). jace clearly has grievances but the writers don’t follow through with them. baela is supposed to be his betrothed! its implied through harry and bethany’s body language that they talk about the dragonseeds… but would it kill ryan and sara to have scenes of jacaela actually talking? scenes where they aren’t constantly playing cheerleader for rhaenyra? scenes about grappling with rhaenys dying? daemon leaving? how they feel about rhaena not being with them? luke being mentioned in a way that shows how they BOTH loved him instead of luke being treated like a cautionary tale all season? moondancer and vermax scenes? even their handholding scenes are blurry and zoomed out, and all they do is hold hands lmao?? and it kills me because it’s not like they’re being completely ignored, their scenes just tend to either be short, a little one sided (as in jace seems to be the primary focus), or subtle.

i personally think the writers are gonna rush a lot of things when it comes to them in season three before you know what happens. like how before luke died we got those last minute scenes with him and rhaenyra. season two would have been the perfect time to truly develop jacaela, but the writers just didn’t go for it. it’s like they have difficulty writing meaningful dynamics lol. i personally also think the writers just don’t care enough about baela (and rhaena) to even develop their surrounding relationships… but i won’t get too much into that.

It was bad enough when Daemyra stans were trying to say Nettles was just a “plot device” and should be cut from the show or replaced with Rhaena, but now some Green stans are trying to reduce her characterization and significance to the narrative as well 🤦🏽‍♀️I can’t emphasize this enough, Nettles is not just some downtrodden teenage girl that Daemon screwed.

Nettles is the only canonically Black character in Fire & Blood. She’s possibly the only non-Valyrian dragon rider that we know of. She claimed a dragon not with blood ties or magic, but with her own cleverness. She tamed Sheepstealer, a wild dragon who had never had a rider before. Who killed numerous dragonseeds before her. She comes from absolutely nothing. She survives the dance, and she is worshipped as a freaking fire goddess. Her story begins and ends independently of Daemon.

At any rate, there is nothing wrong with Daemon and Nettles' romantic relationship. Fans are underestimating its importance to the story. Yeah, the age gap can be questionable, as well as the power dynamics, but Daemon does actually put Nettles first above everyone. Above everything. She helps him to realize the possibility that Valyrian supremacy is built on a lie. That there is more to life than power or the Iron Throne. You are more than your blood or your name and she shows that.

Nettles is his light. Daemon is not a morally gray character without her. Daemon and Rhaenyra was never supposed to be a love story. Rhaenyra was a tyrant(and yeah it’s partially Daemon’s fault) by the time Daemon and Nettles became lovers. Hell, he was already "cheating" on her with Mysaria. If he had stuck by his wife’s side what kind of man would he be? If he had gone back to Rhaenyra or let her orders for Nettles' head be executed in a bid to remain “loyal” to her and her cause, what does that say about him?

He would have have never progressed as a character. He would have remained a conniving overly ambitious man with a superiority complex willing to use and trample over innocents for a throne.

Daemon genuinely cares for Nettles. For the first time in her life, she has someone willing to do everything for her. He loves her. Unselfishly. In a way, I would say that they liberate one another from fear and dogma. So no, she doesn’t need “saving” from him. Nettles isn’t Daemon’s poor unfortunate victim.

You dislike Daemon or whatever fine, but don’t bring Nettles into it as a “gotcha moment.” Nettles can stand on her own. She’s not a good-time girl. She’s not some little girl being misused. She doesn’t serve to make Daemon look more villainous. She’s not some trivial character that can be replaced by another in the show just because they now happen to share the same skin tone.

She is an important character in her own right. She has her own story. Her relationship with Daemon is not one based on grooming or abuse. Let Nettles be complex. Let her be loved. See her as someone who is vulnerable yet resilient and capable. See her as her own force. Put some respect on Netty’s name👏🏽

Nettles is a demage to Rhaenyra's image, everyone is expecting Daemon to cheat, even the daemyras deep down they know it's likely possible it can happen in a season or another, and they fear that and deny and reject the idea with all their forces lol but they know, so if it happens, it's no big deal for Daemon's character, but it's demaging Rhaenyra's character. In S2 she's supposed to “shine” (she won't lmao) but point is that season 2 should be her season so they can't ruin her yet, and this is why they pushed Nettles to S3. It's early cause Rhaenyra will show her true colors gradually the war is going on. Rhaenyra will go down from S3 on, not now. It's Dany treatment again. Plus, we don't even know if is 4 seasons overall, cause they're planning to extend according Geeta. This show will last long cause they won't give us each year a season, they're alternating with The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. They're temporising on purpose.

She does make her look bad, but I hate that they are trying to limit her(y’all can argue with the wall, but there is no good reason for all the dragonseeds to be there but her) characterization just because she makes her look bad.

I don’t care how long this show lasts(and they won’t last long if it remains subpar) Nettles should’ve been there this season. Like don’t claim that your show is about girl power and diversity if you treat the only female and only like she’s dirt after you lit a pregnant Blackish woman on fire last season and called it empowerment and then proceeded to treat her kids like window dressing.
