I think... people should cultivate a skeptical, questioning mentality towards news reporting, and perhaps especially if that reporting confirms your worldview.

Honestly who was that show for? I can't think of a worse 00s teen show to reboot and "rehab" on the representation front than Gossip Girl. That show was straight recession era nihilism and bitchiness. I really don't care to defend that or excoriate it, but it made some sense at the time. Not any more.
