Whumptober Day 1 - "How many fingers am I holding up?"
"-an? Stan, I need you awake right now mate!"
Piper woke to someone shaking her... but was woke the right word? She hadn't been sleeping. She'd been...
Her hand drifted to her chest. The movement was clunky in a way she couldn't fully comprehend, more focused on how the skin was undamaged. Not even any blood.
Someone snapped their fingers in her face.
"Come on buddy, I know this is a big deal but we need to make sure you're ok first. Look at me, how many fingers am I holding up?"
"I'm fine," Piper said, then immediately recoiled at her own words. They were deep and gravely without any of the years of work she'd put into training it. "What's happening?"
The security officer, and only one, weren't there two before? looked concerned. "Someone broke in, and you... you did what you were trained to do, ok? You're not going to be in trouble for this, I'll make sure of it. We'll be ok, Stan."
Piper's other hand tightened around the amulet. She would have thought she'd dropped it when she'd been shot, but it tingled in her hand. Her hand that was too big and calloused and wearing a ring that was so tight she wanted to tear it off with her skin attached.
At least it was quiet. Only two sets of breath and a quiet drip, drip, drip.
She slowly turned around.
"Stan no, look at me-"
And there her body lay. It was already growing pale, hair spread like a halo across the polished tile.
"You killed me," Piper muttered.
"Stan? Come on, get away from it..."
"I would have surrendered."
Her arm lifted the amulet without conscious thought, placing it gently around her neck.
The officer was pointing a gun at her. She was being threatened again.
"I don't know what's going on, but just put that back where it belongs and we can sort it out with the cops. I know you normally take the lead, can you trust me to keep us safe this once?"
He looked so hopeful, so sincere. Piper barely registered any of it. Only when he reached for the amulet did her emotions come flooding back, anger and fear and a need to get out.
Do you want a way to leave? something deep inside her whispered. You know how. It's part of you now. Embrace it.
Piper ran. Walking turned to a flat out sprint turned from two sets of boots to one turned from feet to four paws that carried her out and into the night.
And as she found a spot to lay down and sleep, Piper Danaus become Morph.

Note
oh we're putting your ocs in situations? EXCELLENT. i love them. let's do this
12 for hya (sorry hya ily) and then also 24 for piper! mayhaps :3c
HEWWOOOOO THANK YOU <3
12. Your character has to spend a whole day out in nature. What kind of terrain do they choose to go to, and what do they get up to?
PFFF RIP he really hates being out in... untamed nature. i say this because he doesn't inherently dislike nature, he just prefers if its in a well maintained garden or something like that not just like. out in the woods.
BUT assuming this question pertains to being out in the woods--so in that case, hya is finding somewhere relatively relaxed (ie: a clearing, by a brook/stream/river) and he's parking it. just absolutely doing fuck all. surprising everyone, he may either (1) sunbathe -- if he's by the water or (2) work out. i think he has worked out in secret by going into secluded sections in nature to do so, and while he doesn't Like working out and he doesn't Like being in the woods, it is something to do and so i can see him doing that until he was allowed to leave. but don't tell anyone i told u he works out even tho its obvious that he does LMAO. he likes to appear mysterious and effortless even though its clear he puts in effort. no one just knows when. or how. lmao.
24. Your character has been challenged to a duel by a skilled fighter. What incentive would convince them to accept? How would they prepare for the fight? Do you think they would win? (bonus: which other character do you think the challenger could be?)
welp it wouldn't be hard to convince her because piper NEVER turns down a fight. ever. every fight anyone ever challenges her to, she is absolutely doing it. its not really a 'moral code' or anything, she just likes fighting generally and sees every fight as a way to learn more and improve herself. she wouldn't really prepare for a fight (it is Slight cockiness, but also just because she's someone who just kinda. does stuff on the fly and the best way for her to learn since she's not really a formal per se training girly is to just let whatever happens happen and she'll adapt as shit comes).
whether or not pipes would win is based on an number of factors; she actually has a pretty healthy win lose streak. if its any person who relies more on tactics than brute strength its kind of a toss up because pipes is ABSOLUTELY a "keep beating them until they're a pulp" kind of fighter. so if you're crafty you can MAYBE get her to play into your hand a bit, but if you're just someone who needs time to conjure spells or something then it's the definition of "i won the wizard fight without knowing magic bc i just punched the guy." however if you're quick with magic or just fast in general, it might pose a problem for her. this being bc she wields an axe and tends to do wide, broad, heavy hitting attacks. which: not great if you get hit. but if you can dodge her attacks then you'll probably be able to best her. she isn't slow by any means, she can definitely lead people on by overextending to give them a false sense of security before having her own little "phase 2" of a battle to throw her opponent way off; but that kind of strategy is only something she learned from sparring with saith and keevan. so tl;dr, it can be a fair if challenging fight and tbh whatever experience someone has will determine if they win or lose. pipes is usually a good sport about it, unless you piss her off.
the people piper spars with the most are the aforementioned, keevan and saith; and this is because after she fails her guild exam the first time, she meets the two of them and they literally train her in a LOT of shit for like a year to help her pass the exam the second time (piper was an orphan and literally has no formal training in fucking ANYTHING). usually saith bc he is also keevan's protege, so saith was more the "practice dummy" for keevan's teachings. however, san and piper also fight (not spar. they are always fighting) a lot. and because they have such different fighting styles their battles get veryyyy uhhhhh inchresting lmao.

Chapter 5: the information No warnings
As I was browsing through Hannah's cloud, I found a medical prescription, but it was of very poor quality. I sent it to Jake, hoping he could fix the image to make it more legible.
Jessy: I have to tell you something else.
Rebekah: Tell me.
Jessy: Cleo was at the junkyard yesterday. Well, you could say she trespassed.
Rebekah: How? Why did she do that?
Jessy: No idea. I went out when I saw her and scolded her. Then she pretended to come see me.
Rebekah: Oh, really? Well, what a curious way to visit her friends.
Jessy: Oh, that's normal. Jumping a fence is what she does here in Duskwood.
"Have you found anything new?" I asked Jake.
"I'm working on fixing the resolution of the prescription, but besides that, nothing else. How about you?"
"Jessy told me the gossip that Cleo jumped a fence to get into the garage," I told him.
"That sounds very suspicious."
"Oh, yep. But I think Cleo likes to play detective, one who does things illegally."
Cleo started talking to me, and we discussed things about Hannah, hoping to find some detail that could be useful, but unfortunately, she didn't say anything new.
"You look disappointed." Jake observed.
"I had hoped to discover something significant." I sighed. "At least Cleo will go to places with rumors to see if she finds anything."
I kept browsing and found another photo of Hannah, but I didn't bother sending it to Jake. What infuriated me was the message Richy sent to Jessy.
"¿Ese conshesumadre es el que insistió en que los ayudara y ahora le dice a Jessy que tenga cuidado conmigo? ¿Qué mierda sabe ese culiao de mí? ¡Nada!"
"Bekah, I don't understand." Jake said, I take a deep breath.
"I haven't even talked to him. You can see it." I said.
"It seemed like he was going to tell her why he doesn't trust you."
"Yes, but, well, who knows? Probably Jessy will tell me."
"Yeah, that's likely."
"Do you trust me?" I dared to ask.
"If I didn't, you wouldn't be here, Bekah." he smiled. "Jessy isn't the only one who has connected with you from the beginning." I blushed.
"Is that a compliment?"
"It is" he blushed slightly.
We stared at each other for a few seconds until a message notification caught our attention. It was Cleo.
She had gone to talk to the motel owner, but since she wasn't there, she spoke with her son, and the response she got was "You're the friend of the dead girl."
"Dead girl?" Jake whispered.
"They found the body of a girl. It must be her, and maybe Cleo knew the person. But since they haven't revealed the name yet, it's hard to know. But if it's Hannah, Lilly and the others will know."
"You're right, and if they know, we will too" he whispered again, and I nodded slowly.
"Something interesting Cleo mentioned: 'The man without a face.' We talked about someone who wears a mask and apparently is part of a legend in Duskwood."
"Do you believe in that kind of stuff?" he asked curiously.
"When I first started doing tricks, I used that technique, using people's knowledge of mysticism, myths, and legends to make everything even more believable. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time someone commits a crime and pretends to be a character from a book."
"I'll believe you."
"Did you know that the Pied Piper of Hamelin's story is real?" I saw him raise an eyebrow.
"You better talk to Jessica about legends."
"Dan está mamadísimo" I whispered as I saw the photos he had uploaded to his profile.
I followed the conversation with Jessy until a point.
"Jessy wants us to have a group with Richy for the legend stuff. I know it's an opportunity to talk to him and get more information, but what happened before still makes me feel upset."
"Instead of accepting or rejecting the proposal, you could ask him why he wants the group with him and then decide" he suggested.
"Good idea" I smiled. A few minutes passed until something interesting happened. "Cleo's calling, Cleo's calling!" I exclaimed.
I put the phone on speaker, so Jake could hear everything Cleo was saying. Now that we had the medical prescription, it became our priority. It was an important clue that could be related to what had happened.
"Medical prescriptions always have the date they were issued. If they match, we could know what Hannah bought at the pharmacy." I explained.
"With the metadata, it should be enough" Jake said, going straight to his computer to check the file information. "The date is very close to Hannah's disappearance. We need to find out what Hannah went to buy."
I try to change words, cause I think I repeat too many words as “whispered” “I dare” or similar, but that is because in spanish is the same problem. I have favorite words JAJAJA I wish the translation is ok, is easier to me read in english than write. And maybe, I should to translate the phrases in spanish, but I don't know. I have to think about it, because maybe I have to explain that phrases and that's complicated even in spanish

If the Reader was Sick
Percy Jackson: -Percy would surprisingly be a pretty good boyfriend when you're sick. He would be at your side, watching you 24/7 and will do anything to keep you from getting worse. You want water? He's already got a glass. You want to sleep? He'll cuddle you all night. You want food? He's asking Annabeth how to cook. This man is not letting you go without any of your needs or wants. -Not going to lie, he's not perfect though. He does have some medical experience with wounds, but he's not Will. He can be a little clueless when it comes to how to take care of you. So chances are he would make you go to the infirmary for daily checkups. -Percy is also really likely to get sick with you because of how much you two are around each other. The moment you finally get better, a few days later your boyfriend is in bed with the same symptoms. -And last but not least, if Percy were on a quest and he found out you were sick, his quest group would have to remind him to stay calm and they will see you before they know it. And as soon as he gets back to camp, the entire process of him attempting to take care of you would start all over again.
Annabeth Chase: -Annabeth would immediately start coming up with a plan to get you better as soon as possible. She would make sure you visit Will in the infirmary every day, get lots of sleep, drink water and eat, and make sure you take your medicine. And if you let her help you, you'll be better in no time. -Like Percy, she would still have her eye on you. Like she would most likely spend time in your cabin reading while you rest so she can make sure nothing bad happens. However, she won't be nearly as suffocating. Sure, she can get worried from time to time and will want to be around you, but she is well aware that sick people do need space to rest. -She would also talk to Will, Kayla, Austin or any of the Apollo kids really. She would be asking for advice on how to make sure you're in less pain and are able to heal faster. She would also allow them to use their healing powers on you while you sleep so that way you can get better. -Once you're better, Annabeth would want to snuggle up with you while she reads a good book and enjoys your presence. She would never admit it, but she would've missed your touch while you were sick. And the fact that she didn't want to bother you or get sick herself is the only reason why she didn't cuddle you during that time. So afterwards, expect lots of hugs and kisses.
Jason Grace: -I can see Jason being a lot like Annabeth in this situation. He would want to take care of you but would still try to be rational about it. Afterall, he can't take care of you were both sick. The main difference between Jason and Annabeth though, is that he would not rely on healers to help you and would just take care of you himself. -Jason most likely has some skills within the medical field because of how many times he has had to take care of himself. So he would be far from clueless on what he's doing. He may not be able to give you medicine or anything, but he does make sure you get natural sunlight, eat healthy, get a good amount of water, stay active while still getting rest and whatnot. -Days that you are resting and just chilling in bed, Jason would pull up a chair and tell you stories about all of the amazing quests he's gotten to go on or what it was like when he was a praetor. And you guys also would have a good laugh over some of the stuff Octavian has said or done. -When you are fully healthy, Jason will mostly be relived. But he will also have a sense of pride and accomplishment because he had successfully taken care of you. Overall, he's just glad you're ok and would try to get back to you guys' normal lives as soon as possible.
Piper McLean: -Piper would be very unsure of what to do when she finds out your sick. However, she isn't completely clueless, so she knows to bring you to the infirmary. If anything, she would probably be a lot more comfortable knowing you're in the hands of the Apollo kids rather than her own. She wouldn't want to risk making it worse. -While you are resting up in the infirmary, Piper would come visit you every day with a gift. She would bring you flowers she picked or strawberries from the field. Or she may bring you something she made at the arts and crafts center. If she sees even the smallest thing that reminds you of her, count on Piper to gift it to you while you feel unwell. -Speaking of Piper visiting you, she would tell you all about the drama you're missing out on. Piper would tell you about Drew's "tantrums" and the most recent way Leo has tried to blow himself up. If she gets a smile or laugh out of you, she will consider that a win because she was able to take your mind off of the pain. And trust me, this girl will sit there talking to you until the Apollo kids have to kick her out of the infirmary to give you space. -Once you're fully healed and better, Piper's half-siblings already have a date set up for you two to go on. Usually, Piper doesn't like it when her cabinmates interfere with her love life, but she would allow this exception. Afterall, you guys have to make up for all the time you haven't spent together while you were ill.
Leo Valdez: -Let's be honest, this boy should not be anywhere around you when you're sick. If anything, he would look at you and be like "You're sick? So what? I still want to go rock climbing." or say something along those lines. Poor man wouldn't get the hint until he sees you crying in bed about how much pain you're in. -Once Leo realizes, he doesn't know what to do and panics. It's only when Piper asks Leo what's wrong when you get actual help. Piper ends up taking you to the infirmary and Leo tries to do something in there to help only to end up getting banned for the rest of the time you're sick. -Leo would try to find different ways to sneak in to see you. But he just ends up getting caught every time. And it eventually gets to the point when they have to have someone standing at the door all the time, so Leo won't get in and accidently burn the place down. And you do miss him, but it's understandable onto why they would do this. -As soon as your better and free to leave, Leo is clinging onto your side and following you everywhere you go like a puppy of some sort. He would want to do every activity you do for maybe the next week or week in a half before he finally goes back to normal. He's sweet, but moral of the story... Please for the love of gods, don't let Leo take care of you or you may end up getting worse.
Hazel Levesque: -Hazel is pretty much the same as Jason when you're sick. She would make sure to take care of you and would know exactly what to do. If she weren't so busy all the time, I would say she's one of the better demigods to take care of you despite being the daughter of Pluto. -Back to what I said about Hazel being busy, she is a praetor. So naturally, she has duties she needs to attend to. And trust me, she would much rather be at your side instead of dealing whatever problem they are dealing with at that moment. But I promise you as soon as she's done, she comes back like she never even left. -When Hazel does get back, she goes right back to before and takes care of you. She doesn't tell you about any of her work though because she's scared that she might stress you out. She thinks that it would be better to just wait to talk about drama when you're healthy again rather than bothering you when you need rest. -As soon as you're healthy again, that's when Hazel catches you up on everything that's happened. She would also make sure you get back to your everyday life as soon as possible. So overall, Hazel is a pretty good lover when you're sick. She's just busy, that's all.
Frank Zhang: -When Frank finds out that you're sick, he is a mix of sweet and worried. He would do whatever he could to help you but would also reach out to others who have more experience than him. Frank puts all of his needs and wants aside and you become his number 1 priority. -Like Hazel, Frank is also a praetor, so he knows that he has to be focused on that. But whenever you're sick, his mind just seems to wonder off of the task at hand. When Hazel sees this, she ends up giving Frank a little break so he isn't too stressed out and can pay attention to you. Frank ends up feeling bad about leaving Hazel alone, but at least now he can make sure you're properly getting taken care of. -If you ever get suspicious onto why Frank is with you and not doing his work, he just tells you that he's taking a break. The last thing he wants to do is make you feel bad that he had to leave to make sure you were ok. But you're glad that Frank is there with you. He is a really sweet guy and is easy to talk to. -Once your better, Frank will go back to doing his praetor duties and will make time so the two of you could have a movie night or something like that. He may also turn into a small animal like a bunny and cuddle up to you at night. Just hope he doesn't accidently turn into something like a shark or bear.
Nico di Angelo: -Nico's first reaction would be shocked. When the two of you got into a relationship, he never once considered something like this would happen. Poor boy would avoid you at all costs because he thinks he would just make it worse because he's the son of Hades. -But don't worry, Nico wouldn't leave you completely helpless. H would make sure you're in the hands of Will because he is convinced that he is the best healer, and he trusts him more than the other Apollo kids. Nico absolutely refuses to let anyone treat you. It has to be Will. -Nico would also give little notes to Will so that way he could still communicate with you. Poor Will ends up getting stuck as the messenger boy. But the way Nico acts when you're sick is actually kind of funny. -Nico really isn't big on PDA or really any touch in general. But as soon as your better, he might interlock his pinky or even hand with yours from time to time. And when the two of you are in private, he will give you hugs and occasionally kisses. If you ever told anyone though, he would straight up deny it and would probably never do it again. So here's my advice, keep it a little thing just between you two.
Will Solace: -Hands down best demigod boyfriend to have when you're sick. As soon as he finds out you even have the smallest headache, he already had you in the infirmary and is doing his best to make you feel better. and sometimes he spends so much time trying to help you that Kayla and Austin have to remind him that there are other patients and they can also help heal you. -Even though Will wouldn't mind if Kayla, Austin or any of his other half-siblings were to heal you, he would still rather it be him. That way not only he can make sure you're getting the proper care, he can spend time with you also. -And when I tell you this man doesn't have a single bad bone in his body, I mean it. He is able to help you and others at the same time. Plus, he never fails to bring a smile to your face, even if you are in pain. -As soon as Will fully heals you, which doesn't take long, he lets Kayla or Austin takeover his shift for the rest of the day and spends time with you. Even if you are healthy again, this man has his eye on you to make sure you don't get sick again. And with Will around, you won't be getting sick anytime soon.
Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano: -Everyone thinks that Reyna would be cool and collected if their lover ever got sick and needed help. And on the outside, she may seem that way... But that's not the case at all. Better start hoping you have some medical experience because she may be even worse than Leo. -Reyna would actually try to help you but simply just wouldn't know how. She has treated wounds before, and she's taken care of herself while she's sick. But she has never had to take care of someone she cares so much about when they are sick instead of injured. -Not knowing what to do, she would probably reach out to Nico. And like I said before, he wouldn't be much help either. You might have to end up going to someone else for help because dear gods, poor Reyna has no idea what she's doing. -As soon as you're healed, Reyna will feel so relieved that all of this is over. But at the same time, she would feel really guilty because she wasn't able to help you like at all. So, she makes it up to you with date nights and going to do stuff you enjoy.

(tw: violence) Sole's in really bad shape. They're limping, bruised all over, bleeding through their clothes, probably need medical attention, and they're seem really shaken up. How do companions react? Can we get some good hurt/comfort fluff with all the Fallout 4 companions pls
Hey!! Thank you so much for your ask!! <33 I just went with the base game companions for this since I haven't gotten around to playing much of the DLCs yet, so I don't think I could do them much justice, I hope that's okay!! (I have no idea how I've bought all the DLCs on Xbox and PC but haven't completed any of them on either, it's a mystery)
//
Companions React to an Injured Sole
(Includes: Cait, Codsworth, Curie, Danse, Deacon, Hancock, MacCready, Nick, Piper, Preston, Strong and X6-88)
Cait
Once she realises this isn't something you can just walk off, Cait's panicking. She doesn't let it show, instead her mind going to who did this to you and who she needs to kill, if you didn't do that yourself first. She offers you a beer in hopes that it'll calm your nerves - and her own, as she takes a swig herself. Living in the Combat Zone and having to look out for herself for so long, Cait knows how to deal with injuries like this, but she's a lot more stressed out by you being the one that needs medical attention. As much as she tries, she isn't exactly gentle, especially when it comes to giving you stitches and you find yourself biting down on the inside of your mouth quite often to avoid letting out any noises of pain. All throughout, Cait makes a point to add in comments of how "It's barely even a scratch" or "I bet the other bastard looks worse" She does it more so in an attempt to see you smile weakly. She'll stay up all throughout the night to keep an eye on you afterwards, but if you notice and ask her what she's doing still up, she'll brush it off without any real respond and grumble that you should go back to sleep because you need the rest. She cares, more than she'd like to admit, and seeing you in pain was genuinely terrifying for her.
Codsworth
There isn't too much Codsworth can do to help you himself - what with him being a robot. He immediately rushes to go find a doctor nearby that can, but he makes sure to stay with you the whole time. He tries to take your mind off of the pain with old memories of Shaun as a baby, but when that seems to only upset you further, he gently asks if you'd feel better talking about what happened. He won't panic you, but he does worry what might happen when you don't pull through, the two centuries he'd spent without you had been awful enough, he could handle being that lonely forever. While you're still recovering, Codsworth will make the effort to wash your blood-soaked clothes you'd stumbled in with, waiting for the day that you get better so he can give them back to you.
Curie
A doctor herself, Curie is the best person you could come to with your injuries. She's very calm, despite how shaken up you are, and is able to immediately tell you how exactly you're injured and what she can do to solve it. She's extremely caring, warning you softly if she's going to do something that might hurt and reassuring you that she's going to make you feel better. Curie will be hesitant, worried that you might snap at her and tell her to mind her own business, but she'll ask you what happened to cause such injuries. She'll feel terribly guilty that she wasn't there to protect you when you needed her most, but she's more relieved that you were able to find her afterwards and didn't succumb to your injuries then and there.
Paladin Danse
Danse has some medical training, from when he first joined the Brotherhood of Steel, not really anything more than what your average wastelander would know, but he's all too grateful for that training when he finds you bloody and bruised, hardly able to walk. His first instinct is to pick you up and carry you to a bed, to make sure you don't have to put any weight on your injured leg. For someone so professional - even in some of your most intimate moments - Danse is surprisingly caring as he speaks to you, insisting that he'll make sure you get better. (He still refers to you as "soldier" here and there, but that's just Danse being Danse) Although he wants to be as close to you as possible, he won't share the bed with you, wanting you to have as much space as you can whilst you recover. Instead, he'll set up a chair at your bedside, one that he won't leave, even to go to sleep. Danse doesn't shrug off his responsibilities to the Brotherhood for just anyone, but he doesn't want to leave you alone until he knows that you're completely better, no matter how long it takes.
Deacon
Deacon being Deacon, he wants to crack a joke at first, something that you might roll your eyes at initially, but a few days later, you'll find yourself chuckling to yourself about it. It's only when he notices how severely injured you are that all the jokes and teasing are thrown away completely. If anything, you've never seen Deacon look so worried before, as though he was the one covered in a pool of his own blood. If he's able to, he'll take you straight to Doc Carrington, wanting you to get the best medical attention possible - despite Carrington's attitude, he's one of the best medics that Deacon knows, and the one least likely to accidentally kill you. He doesn't ask you what happened, he wouldn't have wanted anyone to ask him if the situation had been reversed, instead letting you tell him if you feel comfortable enough to - if you didn't trust him, he wouldn't blame you. If you approach him afterwards to thank him for helping you, he'll shrug off his role in your recovery, instead insisting that it was all thanks to Carrington, but he will add on how glad he is that you're better.
Hancock
There isn't a doctor in Goodneighbor, or anyone Hancock could really trust to take care of you when you come helplessly stumbling into the Old State House, barely able to hold yourself up. As the Mayor of a town like Goodneighbor and just growing up in the Commonwealth in general, Hancock is used to losing his own people and he's used to dealing with the guilt of it now. He can't lose you though, he'd rather lay down and die himself first. Without thinking, he rushes you to the place he can think of with a doctor - Diamond City. He doesn't hesitate to swallow his pride, although he can imagine his own brother already gloating at him for coming crawling back. He might not be able to follow you in, but he doesn't care as long as you're okay. He might threaten some of the security guards to make sure they get you to the clinic, but it's worth it. After a few days, if you haven't returned back to Goodneighbor, he'll ask Fahrenheit to go to Diamond City and ask around for you - he feels awful that he can't go himself, but he knows he made the right decision by getting you to a good doctor.
MacCready
For someone with a young son who was ill, MacCready's bedside manner is surprisingly horrible. He tries to put on a brave face and act like he isn't worried for your safety, but as he stitches up your wounds and injects you with a dose of Med-X to help with the pain, you notice him wince and grimace at your injuries. Once he catches onto you noticing him, he'll apologise profusely and assure you that you're going to be fine, although he realises that his reactions may not be very comforting. He might even quietly swear to himself if he's worried enough, but he'll feel terrible about breaking his promise to Duncan almost instantly. When you eventually get better, he tries to play it off like he wasn't worried about you, which only earns the rest of the companions teasing him in complete disagreement - it turns out you'd told them all about how he'd reacted. He does try to sulk about it, but he figures he can't complain too much, at least you're still here to make fun of him.
Nick Valentine
Due to his line of work, Nick's had to deal with his own fair share of injuries, even if not his own. He's used to blood, bruises and broken bones, but seeing them on you creates a whole different kind of fear within him. Similar to Hancock, he figures his best bet is to take you to the Diamond City clinic. He's with you the entire time, reassuring you that he's not going anywhere and letting you squeeze his hand if you need to while Doctor Sun does your stitches. He'll also completely harass Sun with questions of what medicine is best for you to take or how long your recovery will be so he can bring you back home. Nick wants to make as much effort as he can to make sure you get better as soon as possible, he won't rush you though. Once he knows you're better, he'll ask you who caused your injuries - if anyone did - and if they're still alive, he'll be happy to go after you with them.
Piper Wright
Piper tends to worry about the people she cares about as it is, perhaps a trait caused by having to take care of Nat from such a young age. Sure, she'd dealt with her fair share of Nat's injuries, but those were colds she caught from school and scraped knees after getting into tussles with other kids her own age - but this wasn't a grazed elbow from a schoolyard fight. She knows she's completely out of her depth and doesn't trust herself to take care of your wounds, thankfully, she lives not even two minutes away from the clinic. In typical Piper fashion, she's asking Sun every question she can possibly think of. "Are the tools you're using sterile?", "Have you done a procedure like this before?", "Are you sure you know what you're doing?" It's to the point where she almost gets asked to wait outside - in a far less polite manner, considering how thin Sun's patience was growing. She's upset with herself that she wasn't able to take care of you from home, instead having to drag you out to the clinic. Afterwards, she convinces an irritated Sun to take part in an interview about the basics of first aid, an article she publishes a week after your recovery. She doesn't want to feel so helpless when you need her the most again.
Preston Garvey
A part of being recruited for the Minutemen when Preston was younger involved medical training, similar to that of Danse's. Of course, even before the faction fell apart, their technology and medical supplies still left something to be desired, especially when compared to the Brotherhood of Steel. When Preston finds you, his first instinct is to just hug you, realising how shaken up you actually seem. But he won't hesitate after to rush you to the nearest doctor and if nobody is nearby, then he'll help you himself. Minus Curie, he might be one of the most helpful companions when it comes to taking care of you, excluding the lack of confidence you notice he seems to have in himself. Once he's patched you up as best as he can, he'll ask if you want to see a more qualified doctor, just to check up on you and make sure you actually are okay, but if you refuse, then he'll respect your wishes - as long as you're okay.
Strong
Let's be real, Strong is the last person you want to ask for help if you truly are injured. Super mutants are far more durable than your average human, so Strong assumes that you'll be fine and doesn't bother trying to get you any help. You're fine once you manage to get yourself to a doctor, which Strong insists is unnecessary. Afterwards, if you mention that someone had hurt you, he'll happily go out of his way to bring as much pain to them, if they're still alive.
X6-88
He teleports you to the Institute without hesitation, knowing that you'll get better care there than anywhere else in the Commonwealth. Unlike the others, who are mostly putting on a brave face for you, X6-88 is completely confident in you making a speedy recovery and is more than happy to tell you so - besides, he'd tell you if he thought you wouldn't pull through too. If you're close enough with X6, then he will admit that he's relieved you're better now. With everything going on lately, he wouldn't want to lose the future leader of the Institute, especially now he's grown to respect and perhaps even start to enjoy your company.

Imagine (Son of Hades! Percy; Godswapped! Big Three's kids) (8/8) or (13/13)
Blood of Olympus pt.2 - The War
Hello! If you're here, it means you probably already know - but check the masterpost for both warnings and the other twelve parts.
I want to thank everyone who followed this fanfic? Imagine? AU? for the month it took us to get here. Tell me what you thought about it, if there's anything you are anxious to see in the epilogue - yes, we'll have an epilogue!
If you like my writing, you might be happy to know that I'm starting another AU - same style, no patience for prose - this time, a daughter of Zeus! Percy. Don't worry - it bares almost no similarities to this, and part 1 will be out before the epilogue, so stay tuned. For now, good reading :))
Maybe it was the death of Malcolm, but after that night, there was something different about the crew of the Argo II. Their journey to Gaea changed them.
Will notifies them as soon as morning rises, leaving Annabeth secluded in her room and Perseus to whatever was happening upstairs - they are told not to interfere.
No one knows exactly what happened on the deck between Perseus and whoever dared to attack them - there is nothing there but sea salt and dried ichor when Frank goes to take his shift.
The screams will haunt him for the rest of his life - they pleaded for mercy, but after this journey, no one in here is a merciful person.
There's an aura - an aura Frank recognizes well, for it clogged around Hazel in her first days in Nova Roma. An aura of death. Perseus is looking at the sunrise, cleaning his gold-stained ax.
He looks happy - for the first time since Tartarus, he is humming a melody to some song that Frank is pretty sure is from Disney. Percy grins at Frank.
"Hey, man."
Frank doesn't ask. He trusts Perseus - Perseus took a whip to the back, side by side with him. Perseus fell on Tartarus for his best friend. Perseus would give his life for any of them. The son of Mars Ultor is sure he did what he had to do.
It still spooks him a little when Perseus leaves, whistling what he now recognizes as Fathoms Bellow.
They're journeying to Delos - for more half a day - and then, finally, to Athens. Frank wonders if the monsters are too afraid of them - or if Gaea just told them to stop attacking.
The fact is that, for several hours, no monster touches them again. Might be the death air encapsulating the ship's bow. Might just be their reputation.
With nothing to do, Frank watches as the sun rises and his friends starting to walk around.
Leo has no fixed hours - so he might be either awakening or going to sleep. He crosses through Frank in his post and rambles for a second - the Legionis thinks it's cute.
Leo crosses Hazel - she never wakes past eight unless she had a night shift - who is probably going to breakfast. They exchange a kiss, and Frank's heart aches.
Hazel stops to talk with Jason - the last one awake, since Perseus and Will are probably sleeping, Annabeth still hasn't left her room, and Nico and Piper went to their room after the morning announcements - probably to grief.
The blonde is uncharacteristically serious for such an early hour, but with recent news, it's expected. Frank goes back to look at the sea - and wonder if any of them will ever be free of this.
The two of them retract to the war room - to plan the attack on Gaea. They are at a serious disadvantage. It might be better for them to ride back to Long Island and try to unit the camps and plan a war - just like they did with Kronos/Mount Otris.
It's very improbable that Gaea will give the same considerations to put Manhattan to sleep. Kronos wanted power - not to destroy humanity. Gaea is a nesting mother who lost her kids - she wants chaos.
But with all giants here - wouldn't be easier to do this here? Even if they have no support whatsoever? If they tailed back to Long Island, would the giants run rampant through Europe?
They wait until after lunch - when everyone is more or less up - to congregate and vote.
"There are seventeen giants - one for each Olympian plus Trivia, Proserpina, and the Fates, except for Dyonisus who has two and the twins who share two - and nine of us."
"Fifteen" Retorts Percy from his place opposite to Jason "I killed Aristaeus - the bane of Proserpina - yesterday. And the bane of Ares... Damasen... he was a good giant. He didn't reform."
Jason doesn't argue - Perseus was the one on Tartarus - even though he wants to ask who helped him kill the giant - and if he killed them afterward.
Fifteen is still a staggering number of giants. They have no chance alone - so after Delos, they solve to make their last stand on Camp Half-Blood.
Will, Perseus, and Jason are the ones to go down to the small island. Finding Apollo is exceptionally easy: it's just a matter of following the sound of the lyre.
He laughs at their request - full-blown laugh. Jason wants to punch him - the world is ending.
"There's no need for flowers. You already have the Physician's Cure. This is a name my son gave to his union to Zagreus - life and death."
Jason wants to scream. He wants to kill Nike - who is in her island, chilling after sending them in a goose chase. But Perseus and Will are already miles ahead of him - whatever happened last night unlocked something in him, even if the gloves never left.
"You'll come to Long Island. You'll fight - for as long as needed - against Orion and Gration." It's Will - defying his own father. Jason doesn't know if he has the courage.
"Promise - on your immortality, because I don't trust the Styx."
"I could still evaporate you"
"You won't. You need us too much."
Apollo promises - maybe because he sees everything and knows more than Jason about whatever will happen, maybe because that ax still bears gold in it - and exchanges some words with Will that neither of them hear as they walk back on board to tell the news.
Will and Percy disappear into a room - it makes something stir in Jason's stomach, as he remembers that he no longer knows this Perseus, but the one he knows, he loves.
Will and Perseus talk for hours - before being invaded by Leo - only to keep talking until the next morning.
"Change course to Athens. We have the Physician's Cure. Gaea will rampage through Europe. Hercules is on her side. There's no way we can go back now."
They agree - there's no crossing Hercules little island again.
An IM from Reyna cements their decision. A group of demigods serving Gaea - including the Censor that unjustly tried Hazel and was exiled - tried ambushing she and her sister - but the Amazons and the Hunters won against them. Thalia is alive - and she drove an arrow through Gwen's eye, the traitor in Nova Roma.
The Hunters called the Pegasi - and they all set course to Athens - while Reyna followed the statue who set course by the sea. Pegasus himself is going to Athens - he fought once against the Giants, he would do again.
They reach Athens in a little more than five hours. It's the last day of their time - and they are ambushed as soon as they cross the Parthenon.
They fight well - Gaea wants Perseus and Piper, so they rally around them.
Perseus is a fighting beast himself, but he is overwhelmed by the sheer number of monsters and unable to help others. He kills the Minotaur once again - the armies of monsters are almost endless - is the battle of Manhattan all over again.
Piper strikes against the three gorgons - Medusa can't petrify anyone without petrifying her own allies - and keeps the head as a prize.
Nico is in the sky - he looks like part of the storm. The flying monsters rally around him, but Nico doesn't disappoint - his sword cuts through them like butter.
In the end, the nine annihilate the whole army - Gaea has just her giants now.
But in the fray, two griffins escape - carrying with them Jason and Hazel. Now they have no option but to follow.
Perseus almost hits his head on the wall. Why was he so dumb? Gaea was playing them. Gender had nothing to do with the sacrifice - it's just one of the sea, one of the earth. And Hazel, as much as she is a daughter of the sky, her powers exist on earth.
He could deal with the bounty hunt on him. Even on Piper - just a person to protect - but not on two. He was not expecting this. Perseus thinks Gaea must be laughing right now.
He feels guilt creep on him. That was his plan, and now two of his best friends are gone in the sky. Leo looks even worse than him - he is weeping as if the two demigods are already dead. They probably are.
Annabeth takes the reins - and they fly to the Acropolis quicker than ever. The ship slams against the ground - it probably needs repairs. But they are here.
Jason doesn't remember feeling that much pain. He wakes up, chained in a sacrificial altar, Hazel just behind him. Their powers don't answer - the chains are as dark as Perseus' ax: stygian iron. In front of them, Porphyrion and Polybotes laugh.
"We'll be glad to offer your fathers your severed heads"
He wishes to talk back - but his mouth doesn't work. It's Clytius taking his voice away, right behind them - holding a scyther that is not unfamiliar. Is the same scyther that took Uranus manhood - the same one that cut him to pieces and reduced him to the sky.
"We take an arm from the daughter of the earth, blood and flesh, so that her connection with the ground is given to our Mother, so she is able to reclaim her dominion."
There's blood everywhere. Hazel's left arm is twitching on the floor, and she lets out an ear-splitting scream, before passing out.
"We take the ability from reproduce from the son of the sea, blood and flesh, so that his fertility will be given to our Mother, so she is able to reproduce again, the ability his father took from her."
Jason feels like the world is spinning. They will... they... they want to castrate him. He sees Hazel's blood staining the marble and the floor, running through his skin, and he wants to vomit - but something is preventing him from doing so.
Hazel is paling fast - she'll be dead in thirty minutes if they don't stop the bleeding. But he can't move. He can't help. A scream strangles in his throat.
If Hazel's voice was able to cut through Clytius magic, would his powers too? If he focused enough if he stretched himself enough.
Jason forces himself to stop thinking about the chanting, and focus. He imagines Nico - with no family, losing Hazel. Or Frank and Leo. Or Perseus. He pushes and pushes.
He doesn't find a source of water - but he feels her blood. He can stop it from coming out - just for a second, just for a minute, just until they rescue them.
They are going to rescue them. They are - none of them are dying today. They have to survive this war.
Jason focuses his thoughts on good things. After this, he is going to go to college. He is going to spend time with his sister. He'll work on greek-roman relations. He'll ask the male Praetor on a date. He'll punch Octavian. Everything will be just fine.
The scyther is just over Clytius head, ready to strike when an arrow takes its place in his eye. Thalia, mounted on Pegasus, barges in. The horse is bigger than Clytius - and he takes their chains, before flying off to the arena.
Thalia cuts his chains - throwing a gladius at him. Hazel is still passed out - curled into herself in the ground. Jason stands before her, still doing his best to keep her blood inside. It won't work for long.
The giants follow them - but to no effect. The ship crashes between them, the demigods jumping off - armed to the teeth. With a scream of war, the Amazons and the other Hunters come flying in their own Pegasi.
Reyna is not with them - Jason hopes, not for the first time, that the demigod settlements are in peace. That they won't have to deal with two battlefronts.
It's not the time for petty wars. They should be here, helping, if they were not caught up in past fights of over a hundred years ago. Gaea is much more urgent than whatever they are debating.
These fighters are not enough - they are fighting a losing battle. No gods are coming, and between immortal hunters and Amazons, no one is a deity.
Jason starts thinking he is hallucinating - wishful thinking - for the sky opens, and from there descents all the Olympians and Hecate. Nike is the first to appear, guiding the chariot of Zeus, a scream of battle in her lips.
Juno is in a chariot guided by peacocks. Behind her, Aphrodite - that's not Venus, but Jason has never seen Aphrodite so ready for war. There are no doves or flowers in her - just a giant bow and arrow and a spear, riding in a horse side by side with her husband and her lover.
All twelve Olympians, plus Hades, plus the Fates, plus Trivia, Nike, Juventa, Bia, and Enyo. Proserpina is not there - nor the court of Atlantis.
Jason can't help but think is too little too late. Why they didn't show before? Before Hazel lost her leg? Before Malcolm died? Before Perseus fell? Before this journey took everything from them?
The gods pair off with their children - Hades with Perseus, Athena with Annabeth, Aphrodite with Piper, Mars with Frank, Zeus with Nico, Hephaestus with Leo, Juno with Hylla, Thalia with Poseidon.
Before pairing with Will - who looks reluctant to do it - Apollo comes to them. Jason is good enough to go - but he won't leave Hazel.
"I can't regrow her arm - not here, not now. And never, if it has been amputated by a titan weapon. The best I can do is close it."
Jason is so tired of the gods being unable to do stuff they should be capable of, but he sighs and nods. Hazel's color starts coming back, even if she doesn't wake up.
It's Trivia who comes to take the place of Jason. He stalls - he doesn't trust any deity anymore with the well-being of his friends - but they are not much, and they need him to fight. He joins Ceres as she raises a sickle to go against her bane - Asterius.
The hunters follow their mistress and Amazons divide themselves between the remaining gods - Dyonisus and Mercury - and they attack.
It's not enough. They are stretched too thin. Clytius is the only fallen one after thirty minutes of battle - Trivia burns him down in rage for her acolyte and makes a still groggy Hazel make a little cut on so he dissolves.
Perseus fights alongside his father, mounting Mrs. O'Leary as he does Cerberus. Small Bob can't die unless struck by celestial bronze, so the giant's effort to kill the creature is useless. Both of them don't hold back. It's the first time he really remembers his training with the Lord of the Dead. But mostly, he remembers Persephone too, and the gardens of the Underworld.
Percy has to go back to her. To his stepmom, and his mom, and his other stepmom. He has to go back to his life - the life he can barely remember now, but that was everything for him.
He has to go back to the gardens and the lakes, to blue cookies and bare feet. At least one of the rulers had to be in the Underworld, so Persephone is waiting for them to come back.
It gives Perseus strength. They have to win, so the earth can prosper - so that they can go back to the Underworld. So he can meet Thanatos, and play with Cerberus, and debate with Charon. So that they can be a family.
They keep fighting, but even with Perseus renewed will, there's no winning. Alcyoneus retorts them blow for blow and they tire quickly. Hades turns to him - there's a grim expression in his face when he throws his helmet to Perseus.
Perseus notices to late what his father is about to do - and is unable to prevent it.
"FATHER"
It's the first time he recognizes it. Hades has always been the lord of the dead to him - he only ever called him father in mockery. But this time, it's yelled in anguish.
"Tell Kore that I love her."
A giant blow from the Lord of the Dead makes both of them stumble. The giant falls to the floor, but not before running his sword through Hades' neck.
It's the first god to fall, and when Perseus cuts Alcyoneus' head in return, he stays dead. But it's not enough, because Hades is dead.
He'll have to tell Kore. Kore that loves Hades so much that she leaves the surface for months on end to stay with him. He'll have to tell her that he wasn't enough to save Hades.
Cerberus whine loudly and tries to wake his master - he sniffs at the ground soiled by ichor. No giant is able to approach the body or Perseus - Cerberus growls at every enemy who tries. Small Bob stays by his side, fighting alongside him.
A tear escapes his eye. After so much time, so much resentment, he didn't think he would care. His father lies on the floor like a puppet with the strings cut - and Perseus rages. He closes his father's eyes but doesn't stop - there's still a war going on, so he puts on the Helm of Darkness and goes on to join Ceres and Jason.
A scream rings through the arena - is Poseidon, noticing his oldest brother is gone. He throws his trident at Polybotes head - between him and Thalia, the giant is gone in the next ten minutes.
The god of the sea runs through the field, stepping through dead bodies and avoiding the corner where Trivia is taking care of Hazel. He clutches his brother's prone body and cries, ichor staining his clothes. Cerberus whines at his sound - it's heartbreaking.
Across the field, all four siblings cry together for their fallen brother, but none of them as badly as Poseidon. There's a cold spreading through the field - and soon enough, the sky opens again.
It's Vesta. The last Olympian - the one who stayed behind to tend to the hearth. But now, she looked as fiery as her nephew - descending from the sky with no armor or chariot. The eldest child.
Family - that's Vesta domain. Perseus never saw her fight, but she does this time - throwing herself against the closest giant - Gration.
But Hades is not the last to fall.
Between Jason and Perseus, there's no match for Asterius. Ceres cuts his head off, still sobbing for her son-in-law and brother, sobbing for her widowed child. It doesn't help when her sister falls by her side - Juno, in full battle armor, is cut in half by Eurymedon.
Perseus thinks it might be a scene worthy of being painted - her lifeless eyes stare at the sky, as her crown rolls off her and stops at the giant's feet. Hylla keeps on fighting - now joined by her mother, who changes from Enyo to Bellona.
Zeus, in rage for his wife's death, kills Porphyrion before striking against Eurymedon with his general and her daughter. Nico, even if he never cared for Juno, follows suit - there's a path of destruction behind them, where lightning bolts hit the floor and filled the ground with craters.
Dyonisus kills Elphiates with his oldest daughter by his side, but his brother doesn't die as easily. Athena is still fighting against Enceladus - Annabeth striking the giant from all angles, in perfect synchrony with her mother, with help from Nike, who shields them both with her wings.
Mars and Mercury fight against Hippolytus - but he is faster than even the god of travelers, and evade them at every turn. Frank is a dragon, and then an elephant, and a snake - but nothing hits the giant.
After a blow on the arm by Bia, Periboea spears the still masculine body of Piper. Her blood falls from in-between her legs as Aphrodite - scarier than even Ares - runs her spear through the giantess's eye, killing her.
To save her daughter, Aphrodite shifts her completely into a girl - it's jarring, and something that takes adaptation, but the only way she can keep fighting without dropping.
But it's too late, the damage is done. Gaea is awake, by the seed of a daughter of the sea. Perseus exchanges a look with Leo through the fray - Mimas is just defeated, as Hephaestus smashed his head in with his hammer, but he regenerates quickly as if nothing happened.
There's no winning anymore. The fallen giants don't rise again - the Doors are closed - but the seven remaining ones don't die either - Enceladus, Eurymedon, Orion, Mimas, Otis, Hippolytus, and Thoon - their mother healing all their injuries.
The gods that killed their banes rally together against Gaea - but it's futile. It's just like Perseus in Tartarus - there's no battling a primordial in their own turf.
Will leaves his father to battle Orion, with his sister and the hunters - as Gration lays, probably dead, across the feet of his brother, courtesy of Vesta - and joins the duo.
The three of them sprint through the muddy ground, and onto Festus. There's no winning from Gaea on the ground - but they might have one way.
"Don't let me die, okay?"
Will and Percy join hands across Leo's forehead - and try to bless him the best they can, without being gods themselves. A green sheen covers Leo - and this might be it.
Leo mounts Festus - now again a giant dragon - and rises to the sky. It is enough to attract the Earth. She leaves her battle against Vesta, Aphrodite, Bia, Poseidon, and Ceres - to go after the dragon.
"Trying to escape me, my little demigod?"
An explosion of fire rocks the sky. It's not enough to kill Gaea, but between Zeus' thunder and Leo's explosion, the primordial is unconscious.
Perseus focuses - on keeping Leo's soul in his body. Will, by his side, shines as Apollo himself - there's a sheen of sweat in his face. It might've worked
None of them have the power to kill her now - just the union of all the remaining Olympians would even be capable of rendering her asleep again.
They can't find Festus or Leo - Perseus renders this as a good sign, the sign that their powers were enough.
But for now, with her unconscious, she can't heal the giants. So the remaining gods do quick work of killing them - the last to fall is Eurymedon, with Zeus' bolt across his forehead.
The king of the gods falls on his knees and weeps. Juno is dead. Hades is dead. There are six hunters and twenty amazons remaining - from tens and hundreds.
Mrs. O'Leary died - from a stray arrow. Cerberus paws the ground where her dust is - Perseus can't even imagine his puppy back on Tartarus.
Nike - both wings pointing into different sides, spine broken by Enceladus foot - is sprawled on the ground. Her unblinking eyes stare at Athena, who is holding her hand.
"Did... did we... win?"
"Y-yes"
"Give them the... the crowns... don't forget..."
"I won't"
"There's no... no friends.... in victory. I wish I had... someone."
"I am your friend, Nike"
"My best one... don't let them forget.... champions don't die..."
"Never"
She gags in her own blood. It drips around her chin. It's the first time Perseus sees Athena cry. It hits him - they, all of them, have known each other for thousands of years.
Mars is crying by his mother's head, his spear broken on his feet. Juventa, burned blonde hair blowing around her face, hugs Hephaestus as he cries for their mother - the one that never cared for them, but that was their mother anyway.
Vesta has Hades head on her lap, while his body lays broken on the floor. Ceres is trying to calm Poseidon - but the god of the sea can't stop crying.
On the other side of the Arena, most demigods are together around Hazel - Will is explaining about Leo, but most of them look hopeless. Hazel is crying in Frank's arms.
Eight of them are here - Hazel is missing an arm, Piper went through a jarring body change and Frank has a broken leg - but eight of them are alive, and there's hope for Leo.
Perseus stands in the middle - not joining the gods or the demigods. He looks at the ichor stained floor, the upcoming battle against Gaea looming. Cerberus and Small Bob are together on each side of him.
Apollo - from where he is laying with his unconscious, but alive, sister - raises to help the demigods. None of them are happy about any godly presence - but they need treatment, so they let it happen.
Perseus is the first to break the silence after everyone is healed. Some gods are still crying - but there's no time for grief now. He doesn't look at where his father lays dead - he can't process this right now.
"We... we need to go. To Long Island. We need reinforcements - the war isn't over."
"We need to recharge" Is Hephaestus that retorts "There's no way we can fight right now. Maybe in a day or so but..."
"I don't think we have this time." Jason points "We could try and stall things, prepare... Can you send us there?"
"I can" Say Pegasus, who was fighting alongside Thalia.
Perseus wants not to care. To say that Juno or Nike deserved it. But it's not fair - not even them deserve to die, to go back to the void or Tartarus to reform or be lost for centuries.
Annabeth, however, sits in her corner with the ghost of a smile in her lips - so many demigod's lifes lost for them, for their petty struggles, and now they have to pay the price too. Everyone is paying the price now.
If they helped before, if they didn't spend months cooperating with Juno's useless plan, perhaps now no one would be dead. They could have united the demigods without waisting eight months on stupid missions to kill giants - just for them to come back.
If they stopped thinking about their "oh so bad" split personalities, maybe they could've made this journey quicker, instead of letting them spend two months going in side-quests, fighting minor gods, and retrieving useless information.
So yes, Annabeth is vindicated. This - all of this, those deaths, the ichor soiling the ground - it's their fault.
Piper feels tired. This - this body, this recognition from her mother - is all she ever wanted. But now that she has it, she can't even appreciate it. Was it worth it? She would give everything back for Perseus' leg, Hazel's arm, Malcolm, Leo.
She looks at their mismatched little family - and remembers that yesterday, they had lunch together - all of them. It was not the best moment, but they were laughing.
They could've been happy. If they weren't demigods, most of them would be in college by now. They wouldn't be broken.
Perseus solves to travel by shadows with Cerberus - he still has his father's Helm, and the immortal horse won't let him mount with it. He feels sick - that's his father's dog and his father's armor. But that's their chance of survival.
No god look at him when he melts into the darkness - it's too fresh, too painful. Part of their family is dead.
She jumps on the Pegasus, holding Hazel up - she can barely hold on to her brother in front of her. The wound is closed, but the daughter of Jupiter is off-balance - there's nothing on her right side.
Hazel closes her eyes and rests her head across Nico's back - she is so tired. Leo is gone - maybe forever - and she doesn't have an arm. There's nothing there - nothing. She goes to move and she forgets it for a second - but then she tries to hold tighter to Nico and can't.
Nico feels his sister's tears on the back of his shirt and holds tight to Frank - who is almost strangling Will in his efforts not to panic - he is flying over the sea.
Jason is behind Piper - he is the last one - and he is much more comfortable. That's his half brother after all.
They land in Long Island after ten painful hours - and Will seethes, because their journey could have been so easy, so small - but the gods were too occupied by their insignificant problems that they had to journey for months.
One after the other, they dismount just shy of the river - Jason thinks the naiads look mad when Frank vomits all over their water.
"Flying on a ship is a thing. Flying on a horse is another."
He stills looks queasy when they cross the Pavillion. There's no one there, which is weird because it's morning. There's no one anywhere.
Perseus - powered by the Helm - is the first to get there - almost two hours before them. And the first thing he listens makes him utterly mad.
"Give our soldiers back - or Nova Roma will strike back!"
It's Octavian's voice coming from the hill that harbors Thalia's tree - and Perseus sighs. He looks at himself - he needs a shower, and sleep, and food. They need traps. They don't need a second war.
He is in no condition to fight right now. So he'll have to put his diplomatic skills to use - just the reminder of his father's death sparks a dull pain in his chest - still covered in ichor and dust, his ax slung over his shoulder.
Cerberus stays by his side. Perseus sends Small Bob to Persephone through the old Labyrinth entrance - he needs the big dog, but the skeleton tiger would just be easy prey.
"TWELVE LEGION, STOP"
Perseus looks mightly tired as he takes on the scene - the greeks following Clarisse, Connor, and Lou, the Romans following Octavian and Mike Kahale. Reyna between them, with the gigantic statue.
The demigod looks between his first and his second family, none that he ever fit right, both of which he was the leader, and hold on to Cerberus.
"We - and by we, I mean nine of us, greeks and Romans, the Amazons, and the hunters - just defeated fifteen giants, with the gods. In Athens. We could've - and should've - had reinforcements."
"Percy-" Connor starts, but Percy raises a hand to stop him. There are shadows curling against his arms - his celestial bronze leg shines under the Athena Parthenos.
"I may have been gone for a while, but I'm still your leader - and their Praetor. You choose me to lead - both of you. Me, and Reyna, and Annabeth, and Frank, and Jason."
"Praetor Jackson-"
"Shut the hell up Octavian, this is all your fucking fault" Intercedes Reyna.
"I went through Tartarus - for a month - because of that damned statue, to close the Doors so you could be safe. I don't care about your petty little problems now - Earth has risen."
"IT'S A LIE, IT'S ALL LIES" Screeches Octavian.
"How can you know? You were here, raising trouble and creating unnecessary problems while we went on the freaking mission to save the world."
Octavian tries to reply, but Reyna's sword in his throat stops him.
"My father is dead. The gods are coming - but we need to stall Gaea. There's no time for this."
"I say kill him." Replies Reyna.
"I agree." Says Perseus, to the surprise of no one "We're the Praetors of Nova Roma. Our word is the law. For treason against our people, you're condemned to death, Octavian Simmons."
"Apollo will curse you for this!" Are his last words as Reyna cuts his head off. Mike Kahale backs down - no one would dare to go against them, not when Perseus is holding the symbol of his father in his hands and the Guardian of Hell in his side.
"Now that... that was solved, let's prepare for the true war. Gaea is coming - in hours from now. We have to hold on until the gods come."
They enter the Camp - the Greeks and the Romans aren't a unit, but at least they all trust Perseus, who sits on the top of the amphitheater with Reyna, and they wait until the others get there. Jason is the first to come to sit down by them - followed by the other six.
"I won't ask you to trust each other. I ask you to fight - with all that you can. Juno and Pluto, or Hera and Hades, are dead." Cries erupt from that, but silence quickly at Reyna's fulminant look "Nike, or Victory, has also fallen. Pray for your parents - burn food, whatever - so that they can take strength. They should be here in a few hours. We just need to hold on."
"Romans and Greeks - no one will survive if we don't fight. Together. For now, you take your orders from Reyna and Clarisse." It's Jason who completes.
Reyna and Clarisse sit down to discuss ideas - they don't trust each other, but are both daughters of war - and their objectives are simple. Lou goes to call her brother as Connor joins the table - Alabaster apparently refused to join the battle against the Romans.
While Romans and Greeks trade strategies and weapons, the travelers rest. Perseus is the first to fall asleep - holding his father's Helm of Darkness like a teddy bear, while most of the others keep their distance from it.
Cerberus makes the campers stay away from the eight. Two of his heads sleep and one keeps growling at whoever gets too close.
Annabeth is the last to fall asleep - she joins the strategy group for about thirty minutes before joining her quest mates behind the giant dog - it sniffs at her. She wonders if remembers the red rubber ball.
They have eleven hours to plan and rest. It's a miracle - Leo managed to knock Gaea down for 21 hours, almost a day.
At least is enough time for everyone to sleep and eat and plan traps. It won't be enough against the primordial, but it might just hold her for a while. They have no way of causing explosions to Leo's proportion - at least they have numbers.
Gaea rises from the earth like an evil mountain - she is the ground. Some of them - the ones on bare earth - die immediately, sucked into the mud as it turns to quicksand.
Frank takes the lead as the whole army charges against the goddess, striking again and again in every part they can find.
They last the three hours before the gods appear - but they lose two-thirds of their forces. Mangled corpses are everywhere on the battlefield.
The gods win - against a tired Gaea - without major losses for themselves. There's no need to recount their battle, for they will lord about it for many centuries.
What counts, however, is the deaths on the demigods' side - the ones who will be forgotten in the shadow of their parents' victory.
Connor sobs over the almost unrecognizable body of his brother, who died holding hands with Katie Gardner, being veiled by her sister, Miranda.
Hazel is helping Alabaster to find his sister, who missing somewhere in the rubble with the other 56 demigods, who are unaccounted for. The first they find is Clarisse - her still hot corpse trying in vain to protect Chris Rodriguez.
Jason holds Thalia's circlet - the only remaining thing of the Lieutenant of Artemis, who came into the battle with her mistress and died to save her. There are just two hunters alive. The sister he barely knows - and won't ever have the chance now.
Piper holds on to him - she can't bear to look as Mitchell and Ariel mourn little Lacy, killed by a fallen tree. Drew died taking a stone to the head for Piper - she doesn't know how to feel about it.
Will would help - but sadness devours him. Of his whole Cabin, he is the sole survivor. All greek children of Apollo are gone. His boyfriend is also dead - his metal foot caught on the quicksand, and he was swallowed by the earth.
Nyssa mourns her siblings - Jake, Leo, Thalassa, Kira. There's only six of them now - back to where they were just after the first war.
Reyna is alive - although with half of her face burned. Hylla - the last of the Amazons - hovers over her, tending to her injuries.
The smaller cabins help each other - there wasn't a lot of them at first, and now there is even less. Cabin 17 has no demigod alive - and won't ever house one again.
Frank is helping the legion to unearth the bodies and rescue the survivors - it's weird to see a giant mole with only an eye. He is the one who holds Hazel's hand as they have to break Lou Ellen's arm to take her from under a pillar.
Grover died protecting Juniper from Gaea's earthquakes. He became a little juniper tree, side by side with hers. Coach Hedge is the only satyr from Camp Half-Blood left.
But maybe the worst scene is where the Pavillion once was - Perseus Jackson is flicking in and off, large gashes in his torso. Hazel is the one to find him. Most of the survivors - and the eight travelers - stop to look. It's their leader, their savior.
Nico holds his head as blood pools under them - the irony, Perseus took a boulder in the chest for him, flying across the Camp at the end of the battle, and Nico was again unable to catch the hero.
Annabeth sobs over his body, screaming. She lost Luke to the gods. She lost Thalia to the gods. She lost Malcolm to the gods. She lost Leo to the gods. She lost Grover to the gods. Everyone is gone - she won't lose Perseus too.
"FIX HIM" She screams at Apollo "FIX HIM"
Apollo shakes his head sadly. In his benefit, he managed to save all demigods who still held on after battle - and most of their limbs - but Perseus is too far gone.
"FIX HIM! HE SAVED YOU. ALL OF YOU. HE DESERVES TO LIVE!"
"Annabeth, he is beyond-"
"YOU ARE GODS! WHAT ARE YOU FOR?"
"We can't, child"
Annabeth doesn't relent. She lost too much. She lost everything. They took all she was, all she had. She won't fail Perseus.
"Immortalize him."
"Annabeth, no-"
"Shut up, Nico" She barks. There's a mad look in her eyes. "You didn't let Heracles die, and he deserved it far less. Save Percy. Make him a god. You have the Fates right there."
Most of the gods look uncertain. Perseus denied immortality the last time - but they couldn't let the hero die.
"DO IT"
No one disagrees with her. Most of their friends - the ones who know Perseus better, who aren't blinded by grief - look horrified.
Nico would argue strongly - but he promised himself that no harm would come upon Perseus after Tartarus. So he backs off - better than he hates them forever than dead.
Zeus is the one who finally takes a step forward. Perseus soul is almost leaving him - it's now or never.
"All in agreement?"
The gods nod and raise their hands over his prone body. It burns so brightly everyone has to look away
When they look again, there's Perseus - still missing a leg, but better than ever. He looks like his father - uncannily so. There are tears in the corners of Ceres's eyes. Poseidon can't look.
Juventa brings the jar of nectar - she is the one who can grant eternal life, the one who guards over her mother's apples. She puts the jar to his lips, and the boy - the god - wakes up, disoriented.
"W-what... h-how am I here? I-I was with Charles and... and Ethan..." He mumbles under his breath, looking lost.
The Fates look at him - but there's no pity in their eyes. He sees again the blue line being cut - is his life. It's gone. Even before they speak, he knows what happened.

Dean drives into the parking lot of a roadhouse just after dusk and Sam looks at the marquee shaking his head in disbelief.
“Are you serious? Dean, it's late, I’m exhausted and..and.. and starving.  And this place. I mean, even Swayze wouldn't come to this roadhouse.” Sam groused.
“First of all, never use Swayze’s name in vain, okay. Ever.” Dean chastises his brother for such a sacrilege, “Second, you don't remember this place? You don't remember Heather, the hunter we worked the wendigo case a couple years ago?”
“Oh, yeah,” Sam partially smiles, remembering that night of fun.
“Yeah, exactly” Dean taking the same trip down memory lane.
“What, she’s here tonight?” Sam asks, perking up a bit.
“I texted her, she's working a rugaru case in Texas.” Dean says.
“Actually, she never texted me back. That's not the point, the point is that we have a ton of driving left to do just to go to a town where it's not probably a case.” Dean points ahead, “But in there, good times.”
“Uh...” Sam hedges looking at the building.
“But time heals all wounds, especially good times. What do ya say?” Dean looks at his brother hopeful.
“I say... knock yourself out.” Sam answers with his usual reply and Dean looks away, “I'm gonna find a diner and dig into the lore like Cas did, see if anythings ever happened where we’re headed.”
“Ah man, you really got to learn to have fun.” Dean’s reply was full of disappointment in his little brother.
“Seriously. It’s pathetic.”
They both climb out of the Impala. Sam grabs his bag from the backseat and starts walking back towards town as Dean heads into the roadhouse.
***
Sam had walked over a mile looking for somewhere to eat. Being Saturday night he thought there’d be more open but that’s small town living, the streets roll up at noon on the weekends.
He was about to give up and hike back to that mom & pop gas station he passed for a microwave burrito, preferably bean to get back at Dean, when he happened upon a small, local place, Mak’s Diner.
Hitching his bag up, he pushed open the door expecting the usual greasy spoon Dean's unerring sense navigates towards and stops just inside the front door.
It was an older establishment, obviously one of those passed down from generation to generation places but to his surprise it was well maintained, despite the C on the marquee being burnt out.
“Evening, have a seat anywhere and I’ll be right with you.” A woman’s voice called out from the kitchen. Sam walked past the counter smiling at only other occupants, an elderly couple having coffee and dessert, heading towards the back where family seating was located.
As he passed the next to last booth he noticed a closed laptop, several open books with notes scrawled around their margins, highlighted paragraphs and a few notebooks scattered on its tabletop.
He dropped the bag on the seat and shed his jacket before sliding into the booth, fishing out his laptop and the legal pad that he had started making more notes on earlier.
“Hey there, what can I get you?”
Picking up the menu laying by his elbow Sam glances through it, “Coffee and the Cobb salad, thanks.” He orders closing the menu and looking up to hand it to the waitress. She is differently not what he would have expected to find in a backwater burg like this one.
Her makeup is understated, nails painted a neutral color and her copper hued hair is pulled back in an elegant chiffon, not a high ponytail or hastily bobby pinned up-do, held in place with a real silver clip, the type that’s handed down as an heirloom.
“Just the Cobb salad?” She asked looking under the tabletop, taking in Sam’s long legs somewhat stretched out under it, boots bumping against the other side of the circular booth. Her blue/grey eyes slowly travel up appraising his body till they meet his.
“Big boys like you need more than a few leafy greens for stamina.”
Sam felt himself blushing like he was seventeen again. Waitresses blatantly flirt with Dean and vice versa all the time so he’s taken aback by this woman's more than blatant appraisal of his physique.
“I, um, yeah, ju..just the salad.” Sam stammers out.
“Okay, be back with that coffee.” Her smiles genuinely, not that faked for the customers sake one he’s used to.
Sam appraises her retreating figure like she did him. She’s not wearing the nurses white or black rubber soled shoes that’s usual waitress gear he’s seen but a brand of tennis shoes he knows are out of the typical income of career restaurant staff.
The fifties style, yellow uniforms color is completely unflattering, not fitting her right, way too tight around her bust and hips and far shorter than it should be, her mile long legs on display.
Sam shifts in his seat and tries to discreetly palm down his spontaneous erection but not so little Sam is putting up a fight, making it known it's been way too long since he’s gotten wet and he wants to enjoy her junoesque attributes.
***
While he is waiting for a page to load Sam hears the elderly couple preparing to leave. He watches as the husband helps his wife into her jacket and gently takes her hand, resting it in the crook of his arm as they slowly make their way to the exit, feeling the pang of loneliness that’s his constant companion.
“Mr. Reynolds’s, hang on a sec,” the waitress calls from the kitchen emerging with a white cake box tied shut, “Auntie wanted me to make sure you got this before leaving. She’s sorry she missed your anniversary party.”
“You tell her we missed her, needs to hurry up and get well.” Mrs. Reynolds remarked as her husband took the box with his free hand. She glanced back towards Sam, “Sweetie, you gonna be okay here with the likes of him?”
Sam kept his expression neutral, waiting to see how this plays out. He knew people found him intimidating because of his size and being a stranger in a small town, he definitely stands out but not many were that blatant about it.
“He ordered a Cobb salad, I think I can handle him,” she jested winking at him.
The couple bid her goodnight and she went back into the kitchen, Sam realizing they were now all alone. Sighing, he starts reading the info again trying to figure out what exactly their hunting is. Or not.
He was so focused on his research like usual he didn’t acknowledge the waitress standing there with his order.
“Kmm hmm,” Sam’s head snapped up, “must be something really good if you don’t notice the likes of me.” She chided him setting down a coffee decanter and cup.
“Sorry, guess I was kinda caught up.” Sam moves the laptop and notepad over as she sets down his salad and two types of dressing. “Figured you might not be a ranch type of guy so I grabbed the vinaigrette too.”
“Thanks, I prefer vinaigrette, don’t usually get offered it.”
“I’m pretty good at reading people which is why I also brought you this,” she set down another plate with a lettuce wrapped, curiously colored and, by the smell, not meat burger with all the fixings, a generous helping of baked sweet potato fries and a green colored milkshake.
“I didn’t order this.”
“I know but it cooks night off and I’m trying some new recipes. Seeing as you're the only other one here, you've been conscripted as my guinea pig.” She slid into the other side of his booth where an identical plate rested, “I wasn’t kidding about you needing more than just a salad. Besides, I hate eating alone, you wouldn’t believe how often it happens. Fuck, where’s my manners, I’m Piper.” She stuck her hand out across the table.
He takes her preferred hand amazed how it fits perfectly in his, “Sam.”
“So Sam, figure out what you're hunting yet?” She asked nonchalantly as she picked up her burger, “Cause, not being judgey, but that’s some really random shit you got there.” She takes a bite, watches as his expression bounces between startled and incredulous.
“How…”
“Saw your Tarsus 99 when you took off your jacket. I had one as a kid, then daddy got killed on a hunt and I got sent here to live with Auntie, she doesn’t cotton to hunting.”
Piper picked up a fry pointing it at him, “But what I really wanna know, where the hell did you get that demon blade, ‘cause I’ve never seen one like it before.”
Sam hesitates, “That’s a long story.”
“Don’t close till one and I’ve got nowhere to be after.”
Sam decides to deflect instead of answering. “So what is it you do, because you're definitely not a waitress.”
“Officially, I’m an antique appraiser. Unofficially, I’m helping a wayward hunter who graced my door with something he can’t figure out.”
***
Sam and Piper, after closing the diner, stayed another three hours hashing out the research for his case were now taking their time walking back towards the roadhouse.
“I’ve been wanting to ask, what’s with that name tag?” Sam noticed early it read Maggie.
“Came with this god awful uniform. Auntie insists that we all adhere to how her daddy ran the place. So when I came back to temporarily help out after her surgery, Maggie decided she was not gonna take orders from someone younger, quit and I got stuck with this. I told Auntie it wouldn’t fit, even with letting out the hem. Maggie was like five-four and I’m over five-ten!
Ugh! I keep popping these stupid top buttons and can’t freaking bend over without showing everyone my C U Next Tuesday.”
Sam smiled that nervous smile he got when unsure how to respond to an answer he wasn’t expecting.
“I normally wear this to cover it,” moving her pocketed hands in the light weight, knee length sweater she had put on when they left the diner, “but I have to confess,” Piper turned around, walking backwards, “I took it off when I saw you come in, thought what the hell, been long time since a really cute guy has walk through my door so...” She bit her lip, turning back around as they continued down the lane in companionable silence.
Sam mused over her confession admitting to himself he was interested in her too. He enjoyed sharing different theories and bouncing ideas of what they might be hunting back and forth with her, surprising him with her unique take on things.
Piper might not have been the type he consciously steered towards since Jess but she was comfortable to be around, didn’t feel his usual awkwardness he normally had around most women.
They arrived at the roadhouse a few minutes later and Sam led her towards the Impala.
“Damn, you brother is a fucking artist, how many times has he rebuilt her?” Piper asked walking around the car, running her hand over the Impalas pristine exterior.
“To many.” Sam replies, putting his bag on the front seat. “Can I have a look?” He turns to see Piper standing by the trunk. “Um, sure.” Strolling over he unlocks it and lifts the interior wheel well exposing the car's hidden armory.
“Is that a grenade launcher?”
“Yeah, Dean found it at the bunker.” Sam laughed remembering how excited Dean had been when he discovered it.
Piper shook her head shutting the trunk and hopped up on it, “What’cha wanna do now, go in,” gesturing at the bar, “or hang out here for a while longer?”
“I think I’m good hanging o...”
Piper grabbed his jacket dragging him between her spread legs and kissed him.
It took Sam all of five seconds to process what was happening before his hands grabbed her hips and tugged her to the edge of the trunk, her short skirt riding even higher as she wrapped her legs around him, pulling him closer.
Sam jerked back as headlights flashing over them, a patrol car drove into the parking lot. He lifted Piper off the trunk and led her to the car's back door dragging  the green cooler out of their way.
Piper climbed in as he hauled it to the trunk and grabs the army blanket Dean keeps then gets in depositing it and his jacket over the front seat.
“Where were we before being rudely interrupted?” Piper asked, sliding onto Sam’s lap and leaning in to resume kissing him.
Sam tangled his long fingers into her now loose hair pulling to halt her, “What about that patrolman?”
“Won’t be back till closing, around six A.M.”
“That means Dean won’t either,” he says closing the space between them, heatedly attacking her lips.
***
Piper ran her hand over his bare chest, “How long is your refractory period?”
Sam shifted to look down at her, “umm, around twenty minutes.”
“Hmmm, I’m gonna have to see what I can do to shorten that ‘cause we are so doing that more than once again.”
“And how are you gonna do that?”
Piper stared at him slowly trailing her hand down his torso. Sam’s breath hitched as she lightly teased her fingers across his lower stomach, running through his treasure trail and over to his hip.
Shifting further down his body she continued running her fingers over the top of his left thigh feeling the hard muscles flexing under the skin. She placed both of her hands in between his legs shifting his left one off the seat and bending his right leg back placing his foot flat on the bench seat.
Piper kneels in the space between Sam’s spread legs continuously moving her fingers in random patterns over the insides of both tights, touching him everywhere below his waist.
Sam closed his eyes groaning loudly, dropping his head back against the window as her fingers played over his balls feeling her other hand travel behind them teasing over his...
“You fell asleep in the fucking car!”
His eyes snapped open startled. Blinking rapidly he sees Dean leaning through the open car window looking at him.
“Dean what...where’s Piper?”
“What’s a Piper?” He growled out, “Dude, we wrapped twenty minutes ago and I’ve been looking for you, got worried cause you weren’t answering your fucking phone Jay!”
He took a good look at Dean. His foggy brain finally realizing its mistake, taking in the headset hanging around his neck and the ball cap he likes wearing when directing. “Jen, sorry, guess I’m still in Sam headspace, got disoriented for a sec.”
Jensen laughed, “You find one grey hair and suddenly you're getting memory loss and needing naps? I’ll have to remember to have you in bed by nine, old man.”
“Your fucking hilarious Jack.” Jared shoots back sliding across the seat getting out, “Man, I had the weirdest dream.”
“From the happy noises you were making that was far from weird. And speaking of happy,” Jensen's eyebrows went up as he pointedly looked down.
Jared glances down thinking he’s drooled all over himself only to see the prominent bulge in his jeans.
“Bob’s called a meeting in five but I think we’re gonna be late.”
***
“I’m telling you it was so real! She was tall with coppery blond hair, tasted like chocolate peppermint and has this tattoo above her...” Jared paused grinning, keeping that specific location to himself, “I’ve never in my life had such a vivid dream like that.”
“Dude, you like petite brunettes.”
“I know..so why would I make her a redhead?”
“Hell if I know, it’s your giant melon. Maybe all that sugar ribbon you eat is finally getting its revenge.” Jensen snarks as they enter the meeting room.
They were greeted by Bob’s gruff voice, “About time you two showed up. Alright, now that everyone is finally here, we need to get everyone up to speed. We’re having to make changes to the filming schedule.” He pauses looking at him notes, “Jared, don’t need you to come tomorrow for those new promo shots with, what was that new character again?”
“Y/N Y/L/N, Sam’s new love interest.”
“Right, anyways, writers scraped that idea. As some of you heard, several of our exterior locations got flooded with that last storm and it’s taking time to find new locations so instead of doing blocking we're gonna do a quick read through of the new episode.”
Jared opened his copy of the new script to episode 4: Baby.
Reading the opening scene he experiences deja vu, quickly scanning the first two pages: bunkers garage: Dean washing the Impala, Sam having a possible case in Oregon. Next scene: interior shot Impala, Sam gets a protein shake out of cooler, Dean wants to know about the beer. Next scene: pulling in roadhouse parking lot, Dean trying to get Sam to join him, goes to eat instead, shot from Impala view watching Dean walking. Next scene: daybreak continuing from the view of the car...
“Fuck me.” Jared whispers, catching Jensen's attention. “What’s wrong?”
“This is how my dream started.”
Jensen pulls a yeah right face.
Jared shifted in his chair leaning closer to Jensen, looking directly into his green eyes, “I’ll prove it. Next scene: Dean gets in the car at daybreak and a naked waitress pops up in the backseat with a voice-over from Sam. Dean gets out peeping in the driver's side back window at her getting dressed. Cut to next scene: Sam climbs into front seat buttoning his flannel as he apologizes for having sex in Dean’s car. Dean, happy his brother finally got laid drives off quoting Bob Sager lyrics, playing Night Moves and Sam changing a lyric.
Jared continued to lay out the entire episode from memory as Jensen flips through the script following.
“Bullshit Jared, someone snuck you a copy of this script, you're totally fucking with me.”
“Jensen, not this time.”
***
Jared walked back to his trailer aggravated that Jensen won’t believe he didn’t get an advance peek of the script. He can’t shake this unsettling feeling that he was forgetting something important.
He was two steps into his trailer when his phone vibrated. Chad left a voicemail instead of texting, weird.
“Jay man, you gotta do me solid. A friend of mine got the part of Y/N on your show and I don’t know what the fucks happening up there but she flipped the fuck out on me! Need you to check on her, she’s outside one of the guest trailers. And have her call me back after she’s calmed the fuck down!”
Jared snorted, another woman pissed off at Chad, shocker. “The fuck you getting me into this time Murray.” Jared mutters to himself as he heads over to the guest stars trailers and hears a somewhat familiar voice outside of one.
“What do you mean there’s nothing you can do? I get here and now they're telling me they’ve dropped the story line.”
There was a pause in conversation as Jared walked closer to hear more clearly over the lot's noises and was shocked when he saw her sitting on one of the trailer's steps.
“But I signed a contract...what? I don’t remember seeing that in there. So they can just arbitrarily drop the part with no notification, that’s bullshit! I’ve never had a clause like that in one before. I gave up my job and apartment for this!” She gets up and paces around not noticing him.
“They're giving me the bit part of the waitress in this episode, have a five am call for hair, getting a blonde rinse so I look more like a Dean type girl. I don’t know what the fuck is with these writers, it’s like they don’t get Sam, should’ve left him like Kripke originally created him.” She paused, “paying me what? At scale! That’ll just cover my petrol for the drive back to L.A. Wait, what about my six month lease? Could you check on it.”
“Oh, giving me two nights at the Hilton. How magnanimous of them,” she sarcastically replies, “can I still get that part on Arrow...cast someone else.” She abruptly ends the call and sits back down on the step slumping over her knees.
“So, how much of that fucked up conversation did you overhear?” She asked not looking at him.
“Um, almost all of it.” Jared confesses, “I wasn’t intentionally eavesdropping but I got a voicemail from Chad,” she looked up staring in disbelief at Jared, “he’s worried and wanted me to check on you.”
“Fanfuckingtastic, can this day get any better? I’ve completely humiliated myself in front of Jared Fucking Padalecki!”
Jared can just make out her blushing in the still dimming light. “I wouldn’t say completely, I mean, you could drop your pants and yell Pudding.”
She blinked at him before doubling over in laughter, “Alright, point taken. Still, it’s a crock of shit you don’t need to be bothered with.”
“Chad’s kinda made it my problem. Look, I don't know all the details but maybe I can help, I can call casting..”
“Oh hell no! Thanks but no thanks. Bunch of assbutts on social media were already speculating about how someone like me got the part in the first place. Last thing I need is more ammo for the haters, they’ll tweet something like I had a three way with you and Ackles because I was desperate to get the part back.”
Jared cleared his throat, running a hand through his hair embarrassed to feel turned on by the imagery she conjured up in his mind.
“Mmm, that’d be my wet dream come true, but not the point, they’ll just come up with some random shit.”
Jared understood being all too familiar with the anti whatever’s having been the target himself.
“Okay, how about we go to my trailer,” she gave him a skeptical look, “where you can have some privacy to call Chad back. I’ll get de-Sam’d and we can talk some more or grab a bite if you're hungry.”
“You don’t know me from Adam, what if I’m some psychotic serial stocker nut job?”
“If your friends with Chad, you absofuckingloutley are Ms. what's your name.” Jared sarcastically remarks given her a mischievous grin.
“Touché, and it's Piper,” Jared froze at her name, “and you’ve been friends with Murry longer than me so I know you’re straight up batshit crazy.” She smarts back standing up, “lead on, oh gallant knight.”
***
Jared walked out of the bath toweling his wet hair sees Piper lounging on his couch still on the phone with Chad.
As he crossed over to the kitchen's fridge he couldn’t help but notice her low rise jeans had ridden lower, revealing the top half of the tattoo just above her..
“Dude, should’a told me Padalecki has a tattoo kink,” Jared tripped over his feet before catching himself embarrassed at getting caught, “Yeah, that was your boy.” She winked at him, “No way in hell I’m ever showing it to you perv.” Jared loudly laughs at that. “Hey, when I get back I’m PA’ing for you till I get another gig. Don’t you dare argue, you got me into this so it’s that or I’m on your couch for a month,” Piper rolled her eyes at Chad’s response, “Yeah, yeah, talk to you later.”
“Is that how you met Chad, working as a PA?” Jared inquired coming over to sit down next to Piper handing her a beer.
“Yeah, paid the bills while doing auditions, was starting to pick up a few bit parts around LA.” Piper starts nervously fiddling with the bottles label, “I heard about the casting call for a new Sam girl and Murry talked me into trying out for it, so I figured unless I kiss Crowley I don’t have a shot in hell and holy fuck, I got it.”
She stopped talking but kept playing with the label.
“Hey, whatever it is you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.” Jared says gently touching her shoulder in a reassuring manner.
She took a long pull of her beer before continuing. “My Auntie died and I inherited everything, including her debts. I negotiated a smaller settlement but it wiped out all my savings.” She paused draining the rest of her bottle. “I figured it was serendipity..”
Jared is half listening, feeling that uneasy sensation again at that last word.
“...gonna be Sam Winchester’s...”
“If we’re meant to meet again,”
“.. weren’t killing her off after three episodes but then they decided to drop that story line...”
“we will.”
“...I should be going. Thanks for the beer and letting bending your ear, I’m gonna get out of your hair.” Piper gets up heading for the door.
Jared finally remembers.
“I believe in serendipity..maybe you can too.”
He quickly jumped up moving between her and the door blurting out, “I know you said you didn’t want my help but you can’t go, not yet.”
“Okay, why not? ‘Cause any other time I’d be up for some wham bam thank you ma’am but so not in the mood right now.”
Taking a deep breath he goes for it, “So, get this, after we finished filming today, I fell asleep in the Impala and had this dream…”
***
Jared sat on the couch nervously chewing on his thumb watching as Piper paces back and forth mulling over his story.
She abruptly stopped and sat down on the table in front of him. “So here's the deal, I will believe everything you've told me,” Jared opens his mouth to say something but Piper reached out laying her fingers on his lips, “if you can answer one question.”
Jared took her hand remembering how it felt so right in his, “Okay.”
“Since you’ve seen it in your dream, what does my tattoo mean?”
“In Japanese, it means happy coincidence,” Jared confidently says sitting back as Piper climbs onto his lap, “but that's the first line, the second one is chance discovery.”
Jared pulls her in, brushing his lips against hers, running his tongue across them so she’ll part them , allowing him access. He can taste the beer they’ve been drinking but there’s that sumptuous flavor of her underneath he finds intoxicating..chocolate peppermint..thinking to himself..
Serendipity.

INFINITY
Summary: QUEEN AU where Rog (aka Rowan Queen) is young single dad struggling to make it into music industry.
Warnings: Fluff, Fluff, Fluff, and swearing.
Word Count: 1926
Okay so this is the closest picture I could find to Row's state in the next two chapters:
Chapter 2: PIPER
Row has a lot questions to ask himself, and he knows it's on only his own future at stake, but also The Prune's, who may be getting a name.
Of all the things Rowan Queen might have aspired to be, -a Rockstar, a Roger Taylor level drummer...- a 19 year old solo dad wasn't amongst them.
All he knew was that since he had first held that small Wrinkly being and her eyes had met his, she had stolen a part of him, and that the only way to feel completed again was being with her.
Ridiculously sappy, he knew.
"But that's what makes best parents" Callie, the nurse who had introduced them assured him one day when he confessed his thoughts out loud, while he watched her sponge bath the infant "Don't feel stupid, or embarrassed for feeling that way, Row. In fact, that's exactly how it should be. Always. And those fathers who deny it or fight that connection, end up estranged from their kids as they grow up. Take it from a daughter who hasn't seen her father in 5 years"
But, alas, there he was, living between his flat and the Hospital's newborn aisle, because he just couldn't get that one girl out his head, despite don't knowing how he had come to this.
"Well I haven't seen mine in 9"
"And that scares you, don't it?"
He gasped, and nodded slowly.
"Is better having no father figure at all than having a bad one. Just like I think your Prune is luckier having one brave dad than a coward mom"
"And two fit parents?" He asked, eyes flicking to the untouched pile of adoption papers
"Well that's the ideal situation, isn't it? But the weight always ends up relaying more on the mother, you know? The father always steps back, because society still thinks it's more acceptable for us women to raise the children because, of course, we have deeper connection with 'em for carrying them around for nine months and blah blah blah." She got the towel and handed it to him before laying the squirming 2 day old In his arms.
He carefully wrapped it around her and sat down so he wouldn't drop her, then started to stroke her soft delicate skin with the towel.
"But that's bullshit." Callie continued "That's an excuse you men came up with to sneak out from changing nappies. But I believe you guys are just as capable of taking care of children as us. And that you might be the ultimate proof of it." She gathered her hair in a ponytail, and smiled at father and daughter, as Row was now
leaning back on the rocking chair with the Prune, -as all the staff had begun to call her- laid on his bare chest.
"So forget whatever prejudices you have. This kid needs you, she doesn't know nothing about what's going on, she misses her little warm oven, the voice she was so used to hear and that she'll never hear again because that world has left her behind the first chance she got and she's very confused.
But also, She doesn't know about gender stereotypes, or that she's a girl. But she knows you're here. And her instincts tell her you're safety, and warmth, and love. Sure, I'm around a lot too, but soon you'll be discharged and everything she'll have will be you. A d then she'll grow up and will be forever grateful for everything you will have done for her"
The teen nodded, taking in all the words but remaining silent. Quiet moments like this -when she was calm and content- were quite meaningful.
"I just want the best for her. And I'm not sure I am"
"Well, from where I'm standing, you're pretty much up there. Nobody gets her to settle down as quickly as you do. That has to mean something, right? Newborns have this amazing instinct of detecting sources of love and protection. And you are hers. She trusts you: trust yourself"
Days went by, and Row found himself getting up early in order to go back to hospital. At home he was restless, as questions filled his head.
Was she better off with him?
Was he ready?
How could Callie be so much more sure about the whole thing than he was?
What if be wasn't good enough
What if mom was right?
Why did he want to become a dad in the first place?
Should he just sign those papers before it was too late and forget the whole thing?
The sixth day, he made his way to the hospital as usual, but something felt off. What it was? He couldn't put a finger on it, so he shrugged it off and entered the NICU area where she was.
"Hey, lovely one, look at you, a bit bigger each day" he cooed at his yet unnamed daughter, as he put his hand through the incubator hole to let her know his ore6 "So strong and so beautiful" he smiled brightly as her small hand closed around his finger.
"Yes, this way please" he heard a male voice and turned his eyes to see a doctor and a man and a woman who were probably in their thirties
"Oh my gosh she's so tiny!" The woman exclaimed, walking towards the glass
"Who are you?" Row asked, stepping defensively in front of her before she could reach the baby.
"You must be Rowan Queen?" The man held his hand out "We're the adopting couple..."
"What?" He basically slapped it away "No! Who told you she's in for adoption?"
"Mister, you signed the adoption papers" the Doctor said
"No I didn't!"
"Yes you did. Here" the doctor looked through the pile of papers on his hands and showed him.
He snatched the file from him. That was his signature but he didn't remember signing anything. He may have doubts about being a dad, but Callie was right, the little prune and him needed each other. They belonged together And he wasn't gonna give her away. The only way was through.
"There must be a mistake. She's not up for adoption"
"Err... Yes she is" the man said
"No she's not! I should know better than you, huh?"
"We've heard about the mother. So sad. But babies need their mommys, don't they?" The woman cooed from the other side of the incubator
"You can't take her" if looks could kill, Row would have murdered her right then and there.
"Mister..."
"No! He's my daughter!"
"Sir, signing this you gave up your parental rights"
"And what the hell does that even mean?"
"Legally, she's not yours anymore"
"But I don't remember signing anything!"
"But this is your signature"
"Yes. But I... I didn't mean it"
The woman scoffed "Well you clearly did."
"Mind your fucking business!" He snapped, before turning to the doctor "Look, I really don't know how my signature is there but I need you to... I don't know, forget it, okay?"
"Forget it?"
"Yes! Whatever that stupid paper says, I'm keeping her. And I will do everything you want me to"
"Sorry. There's nothing we can do about it now. You could take this to court but... It's a lost cause"
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"A 19 year old against a healthy, stable marriage?" He used the same arguments mom had
"But I'm her dad..." His voice quivered, as his baby started to cry.
"Don't worry sweetheart. Mommy and Daddy are here now" the woman said "Our Judy"
"Judy? What the fuck, you're not naming her Judy!"
"What we do with our daughter is our business, sir" the woman said "Now please, leave us alone"
"No! She's not Judy. She's my prune, I'm gonna prove to all of you fuckers wrong, because I can fucking do this if I want you. Not because I wanted to at first, or because I can't have my own kid like you; she's my own kid and she belongs with me. And I may not be a middle upper class, or drive a goddamn Mercedes, or have a huge house and a stable boring job at whatever office. And she may not have a goddamn mother, or her own room. So what? She has me. Because I'm the one who's been here for the whole bloody week worrying about her. Not you, not her mother. So fuck off and choose another kid!"
Two men who Row hadn't even seen arrive took him, as he fought and called his crying daughter "PIPER! PIPER! DADDY WILL GET YOU! I'M YOUR DAD, DON'T FORGET!"
Then he woke up with a jolt in that same hospital room, as his newborn baby awoke too beside him
He quickly sat up and leaned over to place a hand on her tummy, to check that she was real, letting out a sigh of relief when feeling her warm skin
It had been just a dream. Well, a nightmare rather than a dream. But she was there, safe next to him
"Hey, baby girl. Yes, hello darling. You had a good night? Gave trouble to the nurses?" he asked, stroking her torso "Are we hungry?" He offered his little finger, and she began to suck on it as response, which made him chuckle. "Alright, I'll call so they get us a bottle okay?"
3 minutes later, he was sitting on the green rocking chair, Baby Prune on his bare chest -because apparently skin to skin helped parents and kiddos bond or whatever- as he gave her the bottle.
He had to admit, ever since he had learned how to properly hold her, he looked forward to feeding, because he had grown to love these little moments, and by the end of them, be always felt closer and more in love with that tiny, wrinkled human being which he had helped make.
Who was a part of him somehow, and who he couldn't imagine his life without despite having only known her for 6 days.
She was so amazing. So mesmerizing. With her clear grey eyes and her peachy skin, and her adorable ears.
He just couldn't get his eyes off her.
"You're gonna come home with me in a couple days, and..." He realized he hadn't really thought about a plan. He had just moved out mom's, and the apartment was still empty. He'd have to start getting stuff. But anyway "... And we'll figure something out. I'm not gonna renounce to you. No ma'am. You've got me. And I've got you. And I'll look after you and make sure you're always happy and safe and... loved. I fucking love you so damn much and I don't even know how did this happen. I mean you're not even a week old and you've already turned my life upside down just by bloody existing. You can't even understand what I'm saying. But here I am, making all this plans and Shit... I, who never thinks ahead, who never knows his future beyond what meal he's gonna get. But I... Damn. Do you babies have like special powers or something? Do you like... Is it a defensive instinct? Like you manage to make us go nuts about you by casting a spell it whatever so we'll stay enchanted? Because this is fucking ridiculous."
She finished the bottle and he put it aside.
"Speaking about plans, we can't keep calling you Baby Prune. We're gonna have to choose a name. A pretty unique gorgeous name for a special, perfect little princess like you. So, let's see" he changed his hold on her so they were face to face. Something the nurses had called.. ? He wasn't really sure but he had got hand on it "Yes, hello" he smiled helplessly at the sight of her "Baby girl. Baby girl" he cooed absentmindedly as he analysed her features
Then he remembered his dream. He had called her Piper. He wasn't even sure if he had heard that name before but he liked it. It was original, cool, rare enough people would associate it with her but not awful, like other names he had heard.
"Piper" he whispered, tasting the word while contemplating her face. It sounded good to him. "Piper Queen" he said, a bit louder this time as her tiny hand closed around a strand of his blonde hair. "You like that? Piper?"
She just blinked, but he interpreted it as an affirmative answer
"It's settled, then. Piper. Pips for short." He smiled, and brought her back to his bare chest so he could lull her back to sleep with his rambling, which had worked the previous times.
"My Piper" he kissed her head and began to rub her back "I'm so scared honestly. I won't lie to ya, I have no idea what I'm doing but you can rely on me. I'm good at improvising so I'll figure it out. Don't worry. But you gotta take it easy, hm? If you have a bit of patience, it'll be just fine. And about this?" He reached for the papers -which were unsigned- and ripped them off "Fuck it. Just fuck it."

Hey Super Rad! Howre ya? Hope you're well! Can you please do fallout 4 companions finding out they may be a synth via stumbling upon a recording of themselves in their dying moments (except Danse) and also please bonus for dogmeat? Thank you!
I’m very good thank you! What about yourself?? And I gotta say, I love this ask – super angsty! Although you could’ve spared the doggo because…well…my heart XD
P.s. I excluded Codsworth, Curie, Nick and X6 because obviously they already know they’re a synth or in Codsworth and Ada’s case, a robot. Maxson was also excluded because I did a react not so long ago as to what he would do with the same revelation ;)
Enjoy!
Cait – She glares at the screen, wanting the kill the imposter herself because there ain’t no damn way that she’s the synth! After all the fucked up shit she’s had to go through, she damn well knows it wasn’t just programmed memories implanted by some limp-dick egghead in the Institute. There wasn’t a night that went by when she didn’t relive the past or a morning where she wakes up panting because it felt like only yesterday when her ma and pa sold her to those fucking slavers. Cait has no doubt in her mind that the bitch who died on that screen was the synth. No doubt whatsoever. If anything, it pisses her off to no end.
Deacon – “Well. There’s one mystery solved. Now, where’s my pack of bubblegum…” He’s not at all phased by it. So what if he’s a synth or the real deal? Both of them were bald so it’s not like the other had an advantage over him. Although he will remain adamant on the fact that he is the better looking of two and that it’s damn weird watching yourself die on camera.
Dogmeat – He barks happily when he sees another dog just like him on screen, his tail wagging furiously as he paws at the monitor, wondering why the dog is so small and why he won’t come over to greet him! How rude! But then he sees the dog being forced over to a man who holds one of those things that makes loud noises and suddenly he realises that he must help his new canine friend. So he starts furiously scratching at the screen and whining, watching as his friend is being forced to lay down while growing frustrated because he can’t seem to help. When the loud BANG erupts he leaps back and whines softly, whimpering at the loss of his new friend with his ears pressed to the back of his head and his tail between his legs as his little brown eyes watch the other dog being drag away. He turns from the horrible sight and hurries away to go find Sole, needing their comfort now more than ever.
Gage – “Well that’s just fuckin’ strange.” He grumbles, scratching the stubble on his chin as he watches with mild amusement. Why the hell would the Institute bother trying to replicate him? Ain’t no synthetic bastard gonna replace Gage. Ain’t no way they got him right anyway, so he’s got nothin’ to worry about. The only thing that really bothers him – and that’s only slightly – is seeing himself kick the bucket without putting up so much as a fight. What a wimp. The Institute’s gonna have to step up their game if they wanna pull it off with him.
Hancock – He feels…odd when he watches the video. The part where he’s totally freaking out because holy shit he’s a synth is pushed away in favour of the part of him that is wondering just how the freaking hell the Institute has managed to pull off a ghoul so flawlessly. As far as he knows, he’s always been true to himself, whether ‘himself’ is actually the real Hancock or not is something to be disputed, but hell. Not by him. He decides to live his life the way he sees fit and refuses to allow the possibility of him being a synth to ruin the rest of his days.
MacCready – He was never really afraid of the Institute that much. In fact, he thought it was a load of downright crap to be brutally honest, but his tune quickly changes when he watches the video of another guy who looks exactly like himself being killed on screen. It wasn’t pretty and it certainly wasn’t reassuring because there was no way to tell if the one who died was a synth or the real deal. For the sake of Duncan and his own peace of mind, the mercenary soon after sets out to try and hunt down someone who can definitively tell him whether or not he was the imposter or the real MacCready who grew up in DC, sired a son and the man who had the straightest shot in the ‘Wealth.
Old Longfellow – A single, bushy white eyebrow lifts in surprise at the sight of a fella who looks just like him being killed on a working television screen. Now he’s seen it all. From the weird crap he’s seen out on the Island to the even weirder crap that’s happened while out in the swamps, this by far is the weirdest thing he’s ever witnessed and leaves him contemplating whether or not he was the one who won that jaeger bomb challenge a few years back or if it was the guy who just bit the big one on the screen. Either way, he can still drink, walk, trap and fuck, so it didn’t matter much to him if he came from his ma or the big bad boogeymen from the Commonwealth.
Piper Wright – She is distraught beyond belief. There she was on video, dying, and there was no indication of whether the now dead Piper was the real thing or if it was a synth. Immediately, she starts panicking. The Institute had obviously found her, taken notice of her, because one of them is a synth and that means they were either planning on replacing her or already have and little Natalie could be in the crossfire. What if they take her and kill her to only replace her with a child synth? What if they already have? Is it safe for her to be around Nat now? Should she stay and try to protect her? Or would she end up hurting her in more ways than one? The reporter is left confused and distressed beyond repair, from then on she always second guesses herself and assumes the worst has happened. It doesn’t end well for Piper Wright.
Preston Garvey – He’s more than a little disturbed by it. On one hand, the Preston dying on screen might be a synth which could only mean the Institute were planning on taking him soon or he was the synth and the Preston he just watched die in that cold metal room was the real Minuteman himself. Either way, he can’t go on as Preston Garvey, Lieutenant of the Minutemen, so he stages his death and goes under the knife. Years later, he is found rebuilding Quincy under another name, wearing another face but dressed in the same uniform and serving under the same person’s leadership. His identity may be gone, but his beliefs and his values will never change or ever be forgotten.
Strong – He thinks it’s really cool that another super mutant looks so much like him, even going so far as to think how funny it would be to trick the little humans by switching Strong and this other super mutant around and playing pranks on them. When he sees them die however, he gets incredibly angry, furious that such a weakling could look so much like himself. He picks up the monitor that the video was paying on and throws it as hard and far as he can in a fit of rage.

Dancing In The Dark or Jealous Rage
Quick Tag List: @kuruumiya @spacelizardtrashboys @stupidbluegirl @enigmaticandunstable @nattinngrst
This Passage contains potentially: swearing, violence, blood, angst, whump, fluff and smutty content.
Summary: Kirby goes with the girls out to a night club while Roddy is away, jealous escapades ensue after he gets back and hears about her antics.
Kirby's POV:
I woke up the following morning (The 24th) alone, no sign of Rod, I was confused until I saw the clothes laid out and a note on top of my leather jacket.
'I've gone to do some work in Pennsylvania. Don't worry, I'll be back later this week. Love You, Mo Chridhe. Roddy.'
"Mo Chridhe, that's, that is Scots for … yeah, Scots Gaelic for my heart … Aww, Roderick you romantic eejit."
I went about my usual morning routine and the rest of the day was thoroughly uneventful, but the night, oh the night was fun, or at least it was when it started.
Billie had suggested we go out for drinks and have a good time, and so we did.
About three Espresso Martinis in I started to loosen up.
"So," Vickie inquired, "How's Piper?"
"I'm not sayin' nothin'"
"Oh, c'mon Kirbs," Sam begged, "Tell us."
"No, mind your own business."
"Kirbs, ya gotta tell us at some point." Holly added, the alcohol making her New Jersey accent thicker.
"Alright, fine, but don't tell anyone." I warned
They nodded in agreement and let me continue.
"When we came back to New York, we started dating and one thing led to another and we 'made love' but regardless of all that, I think he's the one."
"So, you'll marry him?"
"If he asks, Vic, if he asks."
Holly butted in, "I need to get you around other men, you know, to see if Piper's the real deal."
She took me by the arm and dragged me, drink in hand, over to a gaggle of men, all of whom looked like they were either construction workers or American football players. Holly let go of my arm and sat on one of the guys laps, whispering something I couldn't hear before getting up and walking off.
I felt like a piece of meat being thrown to a pack of tigers, it didn't take long for one of them to take the drink from my hand, place it on the table and lead me to the dancefloor.
Now, you must know, I'm not one for dancing, I'll sway to a relaxed beat or head bang along to some rock but, dancing with someone who I don't know in a provocative way isn't my thing, but without hesitation this guy started hitting on me and trying to get up close and personal.
It took all of my mental strength not to sucker punch the guy in the face and walk back to the hotel, I held out for as long as I could. hours passed without me realising and I had gotten quite tipsy, Vickie walked me back to the hotel and dumped me on the bed in the pitch black of the room, closing the door behind her and her footsteps quickly faded out of hearing range.
The next day (25th January 1984) was much like the previous, get up, morning routine, grab some coffee, wait to see if I had any matches booked, hear nothing from Damien, go out with the girls that night for some 'fun' but to me that 'fun' was ever so slightly turning into heart-breaking torture.
Any time I danced with these random guys in clubs, I wanted to be able to slow dance with Rod, to hold him close to me as the music played in the background. I didn't get as drunk as the night before and got back slightly earlier, trying to call Roddy to hear his voice, but he didn't pick up. I went to sleep alone again and had a nightmare once again.
I woke up on the morning of the Twenty-Sixth to the sound of the door opening and closing, hearing a distinctly Scottish voice whisper out the phrase 'Mo Chridhe'.
"Rod, is that you?"
"I didn't mean to wake ya, it's just, well," His voice faltered, as if he didn't know what to say, "Billie stopped me in the hall and told me everything." He sounded hurt.
"I tried to call ya. I tried to be the first to let you know what we had done." I got up and took my sweat-stained shirt off, tossing it to the floor and heading to the bathroom, still half asleep.
"Ya did? Ya went out and danced with strangers two nights in a row while I was gone and thought a phone call could patch things up?"
That set me off, I rushed out of the bathroom to confront him, "I fucking hated doing it! Both times! I wanted to reel back and sucker punch those bastards in the face! Roderick Piper, would you fucking listen to me! I am your girlfriend! I am YOUR fucking woman! Would you just fu-"
A rough but passionate kiss broke the stingingly lonely silence from him, his hands caressing my arms and holding me close. I hadn't realised I was crying until then, I hadn't realised he had let a few tears slip himself until he pulled away and wiped his eyes.
"I'm sorry I ever brought it up. I know ya wouldn't do anything without a good reason and I'm so, so sorry I left without telling ya before I did."
I sat myself down on the edge of the bed, wiping the tears from my eyes and feeling Rod put his arm over my shoulder.
"Schultz told me to buy you roses, ya know. An' I told him I didn't think ya liked roses, I told him that I thought ya would like chrysanthemums instead."
I let out a small 'uh huh' and Rod continued.
"I also told him that when we got back I was gonna take you out for some blueberry waffles and a hazelnut cappuccino, cause I know how ya like those an' we could be together and just relax an-"
"Roddy?"
"Yes, baby?"
"Can you dance?"
"I'm not a great dancer, why?"
"Well, can you just sway to the rhythm of a song?"
"With you, absolutely."
"Thank you, f'anwylyd."
"Anytime, mo chridhe."
He kissed my cheek and my temple, whispering out a gentle 'I'm sorry' before using his other hand to make me face him and kissing me gently but lovingly. He got up, pulling me off the bed and turning the clock radio on and increasing the volume.
"And now, a big hit from last year, this is Big Country with 'In A Big Country'."
'I've never seen you look like this without a reason'
Rod twirled me around in his arms, a smirk already on his face.
'Another promise fallen through'
I could hear Rod mumbling the words in unison with the radio.
'Another season passes by you'
He twirled me back around, stepping closer and intertwining his fingers with mine and curving his other arm around my back.
'I never took the smile away from anybody's face'
Rod had stopped mumbling the words and started humming along.
'And that's a desperate way to look'
The sweet smile on Roddy's face made me smile lovingly in return.
'For someone who is still a child'
He cleared his throat, spinning me away from him before pulling me close to his chest.
"In a big country dreams stay with you" Rod sang in unison with the radio.
"Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside" I joined in.
'Stay alive, here we go'
"I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered" We sang in unison with the radio.
"But you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered"
"I'm not expecting to grow flowers in a desert"
'But I can live and breathe'
Rod misstepped and fell backwards onto the bed with me landing on his lap.
'And see the sun in wintertime'
"Are ya alright Roddy?"
'In a big country dreams stay with you'
"I'm fine, sweetheart, are you okay?"
'Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside'
"I'm okay. Everything's fine in the world again."
'Stay alive'
I stood up and helped Roddy off the bed, turning the radio down slightly and humming before singing along.
"In a big country dreams stay with you"
Rod soon joined in, going back to a simple two step and trying not to stumble again.
"Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside"
"Stay alive"
"So take that look out of here it doesn't fit you"
"Because it's happened doesn't mean you've been discarded"
"Pull up your head off the floor, come up screaming"
A knock at the door quickly silenced the two of us and Rod turned the radio off completely, giving me a quick kiss on the lips and walking over to answer the door. Upon seeing the frame of the guy leaning against the wall, I sighed heavily and Rod looked between me and this nobody.
"Hey, I was told this was Miss Kay's room, who are you, her brother?"
"Wrong, Idiot. I'm her husband."
I wanted to interrupt Roddy but held my tongue, trusting that he knew what he was doing.
"Yeah, right, small fry, and I'm the Pope, move outta the way." the guy's mood shifted from confusion to anger.
"No really," Roddy pressed, his voice getting more gravelly with rage, "I'm her husband ya slovenly low life, now fuck off before I hurt ya."
The guy got further into Roddy's face, "What are you gonna do, limp dick."
Rod smirked, "Limp dick, huh," He mocked before poking the guy in the eyes, "Bye-Bye, asshole," He finished, slamming the door in the guy's face.
We could both hear the sound of the guy saying 'fuck that' and running down the hall.
"'I'm her husband'?" I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Well I'm not gonna say 'She's my girlfriend'. Being your husband has more impact."
"Ya could've just called me over and kissed me, Roddy."
"Who was that guy?"
"Some fuck from one of the nights you weren't here. Ugly motherfucker too, surprised he knew where to find me…" I trailed off, knowing exactly who had told him where I was, "That little Greek bitch."
I stormed my way up to the door, only being stopped by Roddy mere seconds before I could leave the room.
"Woah, woah. Calm down there, Giantess. We don't want a massacre now, do we?"
I breathed out a heavy sigh and Rod pulled me into a hug.
"C'mere baby girl," He rubbed his hand up and down my back to soothe me, "Calm down baby, I know it may be aggravating to have someone ya trust try to split up a good thing, but just calm down."
"But she told them where we, or at least I am, Rod. I can't trust her after that. Especially after her trying to set me up with one of the ugliest motherfuckers I've ever seen."
"What about me?" He said pulling away and sitting on the edge of the bed
"Well, you're," I stopped, searching my mind for the right words, "Well, you're just, you are so handsome. You've got the most amazing blue-hazel eyes, and your hair is such a rich brown, and you're built, y'know, your musculature makes you look strong but not intimidating, however that may just be a giant to normal person thing. Oh, and your voice is calming to me, except when you're cutting a promo. I mean I would object to your choice in shirts, but only because the idea of other women seeing how muscular you are through the way your shirts cling to your body gets me a little pissed off."
"I make you get jealous, really?" he teased.
"Don't you dare." I warned, trying to stop him from aggravating me further.
"Does the idea of women fantasising about me gets you riled up with fury?"
"Rod, don't do this."
"Does the idea of me posing with another woman in my arms anger you?"
"Roddy, shut up."
"How about the idea of me kissing another woman while drunk?"
"Roderick. You shut your mouth or I'll shut it for you."
"What if I laid on the beach with just a towel coverin' my crotch, in full view of a bunch of ladies, how does that make you feel."
"I warned you, three times now, don't you go getting me angry, boyo. You'll see how vengeful I can be, Roddy," I pondered for a moment before changing into a knee-length amber coloured dress along with my spiked black heels, my leather jacket and a thin layer of apricot scented lip gloss and headed out, "Bye Roderick."
"Wait no, baby, come back."
I closed the door and fast-walked down the corridor, heading towards the stairwell, hearing Roddy open the door just as I started down the stairs.
He caught up with me about five minutes later, while I was waiting outside, handing me my wallet and pressing a kiss to my cheek, before whispering in my ear.
"I'm sorry I got you jealous, now can we please go out to somewhere, nice."
"If you're so sorry, you won't try that trick again, right?"
"Oh absolutely, I don't want you to do that again."
I kissed him and started walking down the street, Piper's hand just above my ass and his plethora of sweet nothings once again flowing from his lips. We headed out for the evening and by the time we got back to the hotel, a now drunk Roddy laid down and passed out before I even got the chance to kiss him goodnight.

Wake up Call, Infinity Ch.3
Summary: QUEEN AU WHERE ROGER (ROWAN)IS A19 YEAR OLD SINGLE DAD TRYING TO FIND A PLACE IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC
WARNINGS: iNTENSE FLUFF AND SOME SWEARING
Chapter 3: Row has to start stepping out of the bubble him and his daughter have been living in while in the safety of the hospital, and break the news to his best friends.
John- Rick
Fred-Len
Bri- Terry
Rog- Rowan
When Row had hung up on Len mid sentence, the boys had been confused. Then again, he was at his mom's house and they had heard her infamous shout of <<ROWAN EUGENE QUEEN>> that always preceded an argument, so they let it go. But then he didn't turn up to rehearsal, or called back for the rest of the afternoon. Or the following afternoon. Or for rest of the week. And that was unlike him. He always called back. (Well, most of his former one night stands would disagree with this). Let's just say he always called his band mates back. Sometimes drunk, at 4 AM, Thus leaving  a wakeful Terry with 2 hours to spare nothing to do but to start revising for whatever exam he had ahead.
So, when they didn't know of him, they went directly to the village's police station, to see if he was locked up, and if not, to report him missing.
"What if we ask Gina?" Rick suggested
"I'd rather check the morgue first, thanks" Len said.
"Well, what else can we do? Huh?"
"Audition new drummers"
"Seriously boys. Let's go."
They knocked on Row's childhood home. Gina opened, with messy hair, a dressing gown and slippers
"Oh, hello boys. He ain't here" she took a drag of the 4th cigarette she had smoked that day despite it only being 8:30 AM.
"Where is he?"
"He isn't at home?"
"We've checked and there's no track of him. We haven't seen him in 7 days"
She sighed "in the hospital, I think. If he hasn't left already"
"Hospital?" All three said simultaneously
"What happened?!" Len added
"You don't know?"
"Know what?"
She smiled, mockingly "Wow, father of the year isn't so sure after all"
"What?"
She laughed bitterly. If he hadn't told his best friends yet, it maybe meant he was reconsidering the whole thing. Maybe common sense had hit him after the first stinky nappy.
"You know what? Come in."
"Oh we were actually in a rush..."
"You wanna find him or not? Come in, I don't bite
"Alright" all three musicians entered somewhat awkwardly in the house where so many sleep overs had taken place, back in the day.
She led them to the kitchen, where the phone was, and dialed.
Callie was the closest to the phone "Row? Yes, I'll get him"
She made her way to the room where the Prune had been moved in the previous evening, due to her favourable evolution and the need of free incubators.
She grinned at the scene: the 6 day old infant was dozing against her dad's bare chest, supported by his hands -which seemed huge in comparison to her small figure-. His eyes were closed, but Callie could tell he was awake as his left hand was stroking her head. It was adorable, and they seemed at such peace -poor Row had spent his first whole night on night watch and was exhausted-.
"Row" she called softly
He opened his big blue eyes in acknowledgement.
"You have a call"
"A call? From who?" He whispered back, before looking down at the baby to make sure she was asleep
"Didn't say. But she was kind of irritated"
"Oh, that's mom then" he smiled sarcastically, but didn't move a bit.
"You aren't gonna get on the phone?"
"I don't know. She doesn't deserve our attention does she?" He cooed
"How bad can it be?"
"You don't wanna see my bad side. And I don't ever want her to see it either"
Callie smiled "Go. I'll stay with her"
He groaned in annoyance. He was so comfortable, and he didn't want to get up.
"C'mere darling" he mumbled, detaching his daughter from his lap and carefully lying her on the cot
He exited the room and walked to the phone "What?"
"Row! Where are you?" The three voices of his best friends greeted him from the other side
"Oh, hi guys I... How did you get this number?"
"We're calling you from your mum's. She says you're in hospital" Terry's soft voice said worriedly
"You've gone fucking AWOL! Where are you man? We're worried as hell" Len scolded
"Oh yeah, hehe been..."he scratched the back of his head "been pretty busy" He glanced in the direction of his daughter's room, where he saw Callie readjusting the yellow teddy bear he had bought her the second day.
"Busy? With what?" Rick inquired
"It's... It's a long story."
"Well we've got time"
"Shouldn't you be in uni?" Row said in hopes they'd have to run into class
"It's Sunday, Row!"
"Oh is it?" He had lost track of time, honestly
"C'mon! Spit it"
He sighed "Alright, huh..." He tried to think of where to start. He couldn't really think much tho; his brain was pudge at that moment. "I met a girl in..." He counted nine months back from February "June?" No wait Piper was premature so it could be July or... Then it hit him. "No, remember that afternoon when we set up that Live Aid session in your parents backyard, Len?"
The boys nodded. July 13th. How could they forget? It had been dubbed the best Summer Party of 1985 in town. The four of them had tried to get tickets, but they couldn't even afford a ticket to London in the first place. And so, They watched the whole show with four TV screens around the yard instead, and the whole village had joined them, arguing on which performance had been the best.
Of course, all four members of Symbols agreed that it had been Queen.
"But they signed up late" someone said
"Yea, they came late to the party" another agreed.
"So what? They rocked the party! You just say that because you like U2 better"
 "Like you prefer Queen!"
"But we've got a point! Regardless of how much we like them, they were, objectively, the best performance" /
"Objectively? Bullshit!" Anne Williams snapped "They played the same shit they always play! And Bono was a true gentleman, helping that girl who was getting crashed by the crowd."
"Yea, I'm sure Freddie wouldn't have given a shit, so full of himself and his teeth up his~" /
Dennis Phelps couldn't finish his sentence as a  someone tossed him a Converse, which hit his head. A young woman, with Bowie-like orange dyed haircut approached, with  a bare left foot and the matching shoe on the other
"You know nothing about putting up a good show then. Also, you mess with Freddie Mercury again and next time the shoe will be stuck up your ass" she told Dennis, retrieving the item "I mean, it's clear who I'm rooting for but Queen really did what had to be done. Geldof told them all to play the hits, because that's precisely why they're hits: they work. Other artists, like your boyfriend Bono and his band played new material, as if this was their concert. And it's not. Even though they signed up on time and whatever. They took a risk, crowd didn't know the song, they lost interest. But Queen had common sense: they played the hits, the anthems, and people connected with them. And it's not about Freddie or him hypnotizing Wembley. It's having some common sense. And not even you two knew the lyrics of U2s new song. So shut the hell up"
Row had liked her instantly. That's a girl who knows the stuff.
They exchanged a smile, a wink and a complicit nod
"We must join our forces to help out our friends under pressure, don't we?" She said
"Oh yes, Bowie girl." Terry remembered
"Yep."
"So what's with her?" Rick said
"Well, that.. she..." He cut himself off when a cry echoed in Pip's room "Gotta go, guys. I'll call you back"
"No! Row!" Len said, but the line went dead
"Shit"
"What happened?" Gina, who had watched the scene from the door frame, -and was about to finish her 6th cigar in a row,- asked
"He rambled about that Live Aid day, and a girl he met there"
"Did he say her name?"
"No. He had to go suddenly. It's all weird"
"Yea, well... Life is weird, boys"
"I don't understand. What's going on? Can't you tell us, Mrs. Queen?"
"Oh no. No. It's not my story to tell. Nor my business. I tried my best, but that stubborn bastard didn't listen. I'm sorry" she said
"But is he okay?" Len asked, concerned
Gina grinned, at how despite it all, the four boys would stick up with each other to the end of the world "Yes. He's fine."
"Row, are you okay?" Callie said, as the drummer wordlessly took the bundle from her
"Yes, yes. Why wouldn't I be?" He said, sitting with the fussy baby
"You're a bit pale"
"Oh I... Nothing. Just... I'm nervous honestly. Because we're about get discharged and I'm gonna be alone with her and I'll have to dad around all by myself and... And everyone will know..."
"Know what?"
"About her"
"And is that a problem?" Callie crossed her arms
"No, I mean... No, of course not. But everyone will ask questions and judge me and... I'm worried I will end up believing them more and fuck it all up"
"Believing what?"
"They'll start telling me it's a mistake, that I'm gonna screw everything up and that I won't be able to be a good dad and I'm afraid it will become true"
"So you're saying that how people think of you is gonna affect the way you... How you called it? Dad around?"
He nodded "Well, answer me these, will you? Have you, in this moment or at any point during these seven days, thought you are making a mistake?"
He looked at the tiny bundle and shook his head.
"Are you willing to always do your best for the shake of Piper?"
He nodded, noticing he was unconsciously rocking her back and forth.
"Then what's the problem?"
"Look I haven't exactly been a role model in... Well anything. One thing my mom's proud of is that I'm not into drugs. Everyone who has a daughter in the block hates me. So how am I supposed to raise one?"
"Exactly how you've been doing the last six days"
"Yes but I have you guys. And the medics, and the equipment. But there I'll be all alone"
"You will never be alone. You have the friends you've told me about. And your mum...Maybe the little darling is gassy"
"Oh stop about my mum" he carefully changed the Prune to an upright position and began to rub circles on her back without even hesitation. Wow he was actually getting a hold on the burping stuff.
"Yes. Your mum will eventually come to terms with the lil'raisin. I'm sure." She said, whist handing him a muslin to place on the baby's range of accuracy
"Oh you don't know her"
"I know she's a mum. Your mum and mother's rarely ever turn their backs on their children for good"
Row looked at the baby, then raised an eyebrow at Callie
"I said it's rare. There are obviously exceptions" she said "And believe me you're better off. Also, she did call. That's gotta Mean  something"
"I didn't speak with her. Just the band. They were at her place, yeah but... I don't know. I'm not gonna beg on my fucking knees..." He was interrupted by a burp I his ear. Damn, that was a big one. He'd need 2 beers to produce such a loud one.
"Easy, tiger." He laughed "Goddamn it, where did that come from, huh? You're unbelievable" he praised, while getting the muslin out his shoulder and handing it to Callie
"And a neat one too. 10/10." She chuckled
"Atta girl. That's my lil'raisin. Yeah, good girl" he cooed, bringing her to face him, before she started fussing and he nested her again on his chest "Aw, don't cry honey. Please. You're alright. C'mon" he begged. She settled down quickly, and he sighed in relief.
"The point is, that here is like... I feel safe, you know? It's like another world. Another life. And now I have to fit her in my every day, and be in charge and stuff, and... I'm not sure I'm ready"
"Parents are never ready to take them home. Not even those who had 9 months of preparation, and parenting classes, and a nicely decorated and supplied nursery. No one feels ready. But nerves are good. Nerves mean that you care. Worrying and doubting about your ability to be the dad your child needs is precisely what's gonna make you raise your game. Just one last question: are you 100% that you love that lil one with all your heart?"
He looked at his daughter, who had gone back to sleep with the rambling of his voice, as his hand still caressed head and grinned "Hell yeah" Otherwise, how could he explain the way his chest seemed to be holding two hearts whenever she was in his arms? Or how, when he had to leave for the night it felt as though both those hearts were ripped away from him? Or how else could he have turned this goddamn sappy? Yep. That was the proof.
"Then that's all the two of you will ever need. She won't care if you two are rich or live in a cardboard box, or if she wasn't in your initial plans, or that she doesn't have a mom. As long as you love her and make her feel like it."
He nodded, and rested his lips on her soft scalp.
"Right, I Gotta get to another patient. Call'em back."
He stood up, this time taking his Prune along, and went to the corridor where the phone was. Making sure her head was safely cradled along with the rest of her small body on his left arm, he tucked the phone between the right shoulder and neck and dialed their shared place's number
Rick picked up "Yes?"
"I'm a dad" he said simply, and waited for his reaction.
