Thinking about future Percico....... Like, I can just imagine them not seeing each other for a few years, then they meet when Nico is like 22 or something and Percy is just so enamoured with him.... Everyone loves to talk about how Percy gave up godhood for Annabeth (false, he did it himself and seeing Annabeth reminded him of Luke's last request), but no one likes to talk about how Percy chose the great prophecy so that Nico wouldn't have to bear it? He did that for Nico. And when he hears the actual prophecy and finds out that he's going to die, he doesn't back pedal and try to get out of it - because that would mean Nico would die. He sticks true to his decision to take on the great prophecy and die for Nico. And then when he doesn't die and gets one wish from the gods, he makes them give Nico a cabin at chb so Nico could have somewhere he's welcomed and safe. I-

Oh, I desperately need this Hades-Percy-dynamic in regards to Nico/Percy though.

This Hades? Who saved Sally Jackson, instead of danging her as a bargaining chip right away?

This Hades? Who offered Percy sanctuary and protection, instead of antagonizing him?

And this Percy? Who accepts the quest to retrieve Hades' helmet for him?

This opens the door to such a positive spin on their dynamic - and now imagine Hades' reaction when he learns that his son is hopelessly, obsessively in love with Percy Jackson?

Nico and Percy have so much in common with how they deal and cope with everything. I feel like if they could ever just sit down and talk about everything they would see that they understand each other better than anybody else in the universe understands them.

Because Will doesn’t understand Nico at all and doesn’t even try to, all Will does is try to gaslight Nico to think that the ostracizing he went through didn’t happen, and doesn’t understand when Nico acts accordingly with his ptsd, and doesn’t understand that Nico does not need to he “fixed” and that Nico was never “broken” — I could go on and on so I’ll leave it at that

Sally and Annabeth and maybe Paul kinda understand the surface of what Percy’s got going on but they know they’re missing something they know Percy’s not telling them everything because Percy doesn’t want to scare them, doesn’t want them to be worried for him, doesn’t want them to be afraid of him (and they already kinda are afraid of him especially Annabeth).

And I feel like Percy would truly understand most of what Nicos been through because he also went through something similar at some point in his life and Percy has never been afraid of Nico like so many people are and Percy tried to include him in things especially when they were younger. Percy sees that Nico is not “broken” he does not need to be “fixed” or “healed”. He just needs understanding and time to get used to something new.

And Nico wouldn’t be afraid of Percy either and Percy could finally let down his guard and tell Nico everything without worrying about Nico being afraid of him or for him. Wouldn’t have to worry about Nico thinking he’s crazy and too dark and too angry. Because Nico understands that Percy’s crazy dark and angry feelings are very much justified and valid and has alot of the same feelings and they have similar ways of coping.

It’s crazy how much they mirror each other. I want them to be friends so bad but I know they wouldn’t really spend time with each other unless they were forced to. I wish Chiron or Sally or Annabeth would lock them in one of their cabins for a few days so they can actually talk and make a bond.

Percy: Jason, wh-what (looks around and notices that Nico is gone) I'm totally capable of that...

Jason: you lost him, didn't you?

Percy, running around the grocery store frantically: no no no, he's right next to me.

Jason: I can hear it in your voice. Look in the dairy case.

Percy: sees Nico standing in the dairy case and trying to pull it open.

Thinking about how in tlo there were 4 people in love with Percy: Annabeth, Calypso, Rachel and Nico.

Also thinking about how Percy used one wish from the gods to help Calypso, Rachel and Nico, but not Annabeth. His wish did nothing for Annabeth. It had nothing to do with her at all.

Calypso: he asked for her release. She's been imprisoned for eternity and he makes it that she can be free. Literally the #1 thing that she wants.

Nico: he has no place where he feels accepted. His sister is dead. His mother is dead. His dad hates him for freeing Percy (before the end of tlo). Percy knows chb would make Nico an outcast the way they made him one until botl. So he uses his wish to get Nico a cabin so he'd feel welcome and have a safe home and a picnic table to eat healthy meals. Percy gave Nico a home.

Rachel: Earlier (I think) she dumped Percy to be the oracle. Percy knew from his dreams/visions that Hades had cursed the spirit of the oracle, so he uses his wish to fulfill the terms needed for Hades to release the spirit of the oracle from his curse, therefore saving Rachel from a cursed half-life (like May Castellan).

And I know what you're thinking. "Percy turned down godhood for Annabeth!!" So they could be together!!

No.

Percy knows Annabeth would've loved to be immortal/a god, with him. She was hella tempted to stay immortal with CC in SoM. She wanted to become one of Artemis's immortal hunters in ttc (despite being in love/crushing on 2 boys). Her deepest desire (as shown by the sirens in SoM) is to be remembered forever. What better what to ensure that than by being a god?

Percy also knows the myth where Dionysus married a princess and upon her death, brought her to Zeus to make her a god so they could be together forever.

Percy could've easily asked for Annabeth to become immortal/a god with him. So they could spend eternity together, immortal. Instead, he turned Zeus down because HE doesn't want to be a god. He doesn't consider Annabeth. He just wants to fulfill Luke's last wish and help Calypso, Rachel, Nico, and the unclaimed demigods.
