Chapter 2 Beta Update~

--Nearly all of Ch2 is available, EXCEPT: The "America" backstory when talking with Lottie (it's just half finished). Overall around ~22k words added, and a few thousand to Chapter 1.

--Reworked the Sex/Gender/Gender Presentation System.

--New and Revised MC Dialogue to Ch1, depending on what Occupation you choose. Not all has been changed, more planned later in the month.

--Various typo fixes, small re-writes and bug fixes.

I wanted to get more done, but alas ><;; 🙏🏽 some IRL came up that i really need to deal with. BUT! I managed to get Ch2 from beginning to end! I hope yall will enjoy the last half of Ch2, I'm very happy with it overall! :"))))

Under the Devil's Moon - 1.1.0

This is the final stuff I wanted to add before seriously drafting Chapter 2. Woo! That means I won't be adding any additional content until Chapter 2 is mostly done, only bugfixes.

Here's where you can play the update, the usual place! It's still an HTML file and super simple y'all - open it up in whatever browser you use on desktop or mobile. PLEASE DM or message me about bugs you come across, I'm still new to this!

Patch Notes:

Zib and Wick scenes have been added, both platonic and romantic. You won’t get all three in a single night! That’s alright  - plenty of time to meet them in Chapter 2.

Eveline has gotten a small, additional scene if you're romantically interested in her, as well as some text changes in general.

Zib and Atlas get themselves a tarot reading scene. Wick and Viktor will have to wait until you see more of them!

Filipino and Swedish have been added as culture options.

Some cultures (Mexico, Germany and Russia for now) have additional text in the Bringing Family to America deal; others will follow eventually. Mostly just some historical context because I really like reading and writing about it

Scars in general, especially visible and severe ones, have been reworked. A tin facial prosthetic (similar to those worn by WW1 vets) is an option if you'd like to cover up.

Cello and Saxophone have been added as instruments for Musician!MC.

MCs with the Baby deal can now specify what the child calls them (i.e. Mom, Papa, etc.)

Additional text and clarification in some places. Some dialogue has been changed to better suit the chosen Occupation/Personality.

Plenty of grammar fixes, typo corrections and bugfixes - Musician has been fixed quite a lot (oops) and gender is no longer rioting... For now.

1925. You work for Cecil Flynn, a ruthless high-rolling lawyer and gang-adjacent businessman based in Chicago. While not your first choice of employment, it's more than enough to support yourself or any dependents ... and he's made sure you can't leave easily. You made a deal with this devil three years ago, and since then you've turned into an excellent investment. 

In those three years, Chicago has been your home, but now your employer has decided it's time for a change of scenery. Alongside your fellow ne'er-do-wells Marius Beausoleil and Jack Paige, you travel to St. Louis, where a wildly popular speakeasy has fallen into Mr. Flynn's crosshairs. It's a shame what you may have to do on his orders, but that's just business, isn't it? 

Step right up to enjoy this interactive Lackadaisy fanfiction! Create your character with over 30 options, and enjoy the story, which will hover around ~20k for most readers.

How to read: Simply click that link and download the HTML file. You can open it with nearly any browser that recognizes HTML. On android devices, do NOT use HTML Reader.

Character creation features: Appearance, gender expression, culture, occupation, and most importantly - the deal you cut with Mr. Flynn. Choose your level of affection, and who you feel platonically or romantically toward - you can also go aromantic and/or ace!

Love interests: Only Rocky and Mordecai to start, with the latter being a very slow burn. Others will be added in future updates, and some characters already have romantically-inclined dialogue/text if you choose to be interested in them.

Under the Devil's Moon. Lackdaisy Interactive Fanfic made with Twine. Currently at ~29k words, while the beta has ~48k. A crime/gangster story set in 1920's St. Louis, in which everyone is a cute cat and the MC has a terrible habit of getting into trouble and also owes a debt to the sketchiest lawyer imaginable. Fully customizable Cat!MC with multiple backgrounds + personalities, ~8 official love interests and aro/ace options.

The Last Spring. ASOIAF Interactive Fanfic made with Twine. Currently at ~25k. A court drama story set in Pre-Robert's Rebellion book canon, the MC is invited to King's Landing for Prince Rhaegar and Princess Elia's wedding ... and in true ASOIAF fashion, has to juggle avoiding death, scandal and an awful marriage. Fully customizable Female MC, multiple backgrounds + personalities, aro/ace option not in yet, only three love interests so far (with more planned).

If your ocs were in the modern era, what would there favorite musicians be?

So im terrible at naming musicians and such, so ill go for genre and general taste!

Marius: "whatever's on the radio", and old French music his parents would listen to. He probably likes any music that gets him pumped and has a hard beat. Willing to listen to any genre and is terrible at describing what he likes! Doesn't have a spotify or itunes, just types the song into youtube and blasts that from his cracked phone. Loves a handful of French radio stations he streams on his phone; the quality is fucked and it drains his battery but he doesnt care.

Jack: Exclusively oldies bluegrass and gospel bc thats all his parents would play. Modern pop country and christian rock confounds him. He could swear his pa said something about drums being the devil's instrument. Metal is scary until he reads the lyrics and has a small mental shutdown. Just like him fr fr... thinks Marius' French stations are incomprehensible but he says nothing bc he doesnt have a better suggestion.

Lottie: A huuuge pop girlie, as well as jazz and 90s r&b. Yes jazz is a very broad genre, but she'd like so much of it, especially more unique or weird sounds. Doesnt "get" hyperpop or tiktok music and worries she's getting old bc of that. LOVES musicals and would likely be a professional in the modern times, and if not that, she'd be in local theaters.

Eveline: Still uses cassettes and CDs, and theyre all classical, opera recordings and vocalists, mostly European. Enjoys some musicals. She thinks she's kinda up to date on modern pop music, but when you ask her what's the last pop album she listened to, she'll say Celine Dion's Falling Into You. She'd start sobbing if she got to see Natalie Dessay.

Máire: Huge punk and rock girlie, especially the Irish scene. Probably exclusively listens to punk tbh. She'd frequent the clubs and smoke too much in the corner while appearing disinterested but is actually vibing so hard w the music. Really loves making mixtapes and recordings, never got into vinyls or cds. Wants spotify to burn and die.

Malwina: LOOOVES pop and is a massive Britney Spears, Selena, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson fan. 90s-2000s pop is her favorite by far and those are the only CDs she owns. Probs has a beatup little red Ipod she's had since middle school; it was a hand me down from her oldest cousin and she treasures it even if it's "old". Queen of pirating and burning music but by god she paid for her Mariah Carey and Britney Spears cds. She wanted the pretty inserts and lyric booklets.

Slyvester: Loves a lot of swing and oldies from his parent's day, and Italian vocalists his wife adores. They played Andrea Bocelli almost exclusively at the wedding. Finds the music his sons listen to bizarre but doesn't mind the rock and alt rock too much.

Hello, I'm having a hard time visualizing the body types and when I search on google it give me a list but with different names, can you help ? I know this problem is minimal and you are free to ignore the question, hope you have a good day :) (sorry if there are spelling mistakes, english is not my native language)

oh sure! some arent drastically different from each other but i added lots of adjectives for peeps who have a specific look in mind for their character.

Slim - Basically, skinny.

Lanky - The same, but someone whose limbs are a bit too long for their body, especially if they're tall.

Lithe - Slim and elegant, kind of like a dancer.

Athletic - Just as it says; a fit body that's used to exercise and movement.

Burly - A larger body that's also athletics and strong.

Curvy - I associate it with an hourglass or pear figure. Can be any weight but I imagine someone whose bigger.

Stout - Usually associated with shorter people, being short and big.

Husky - Fat and strong, usually associated with masculine people.

Plump - Fat and round, I kinda picture apple or pear shapes for this.

Heavy - Also fat; could be with or without muscle. Generally just a big person.

🌑UtDM 1.1.7 + Beta🌕

I have no idea how to label this, LOL. I've been fixing a lot of silly bugs thanks to some awesome people, and drafting on Ch2 is going v. well! 40% done, and it's only the first week of August... .... Kind of unnerves me 😅

Because Ch2 is shaping up to be much longer than Ch1, I'm going to code each scene as I finish rather than doing it all at once and melting my brain. It'll be a separate beta version for those who want to read the story and don't mind the wonky bugs - if you'd rather read everything at once and have a much neater experience, wait for 2.0 at the end of this month :>

Anyway, you can get the beta version where you find the other version. Version 1.1.4 is all of Chapter 1, with bugfixes and only a small Ch2 preview. It'll stay that way until Ch2's full release 👀

This Beta covers:

Multiple Scenes in Chapter 2. So far it's up to four: The phone call, a chat with Malwina, your first job with Mordecai and Viktor, and a long conversation with Lottie.

There's also a few additions to the Character Creator - I am not taking suggestions for new content here. It's very low priority compared to drafting the actual story.

Being able to skip directly to Chapter 2! You'll still get to choose your Tarot reading. Please note if you chose a Tarot that normally wouldn't be available to you - i.e., choosing Star if you don't have a kid - text won't make sense. Chapter Selection is going to look nicer in 2.0 (ideally, lol).

A proper, multiple save/load system! (It can be weird sometimes!)

for those curious abt progress on Devil's Moon, I've added 5k to chapter 1 (bc im adding a new Deal and Occupation wheeeee) and 15k to Chapter 2 so far ...... I probs need another 5~7k before I'm fully finished with Chapter 2 (!!!!!). Scary to think about ....... I wanna draft it all before I code it. I wanna finish before Feb 1st so baaaddd

Hey, this might be a bit specific but i was curious

What is the financial situation of the MC, like what kind of standard of living can they afford/how much do they spend on clothes, food and their apartment?

Id say it depends on the occupation and deal! All MCs have to pay off their debt to Flynn, but some have it harder than others.

An MC having to support their family, especially if their family was in debt, has it rough. MC who has the baby boy is slightly better off, while MC who got stuck with the murder charge has no family to support but steep lawyer "fees" ... All backgrounds can at least pay rent and get food, and their apartments are fairly clean and in good repair, which is saying a lot for some families/people in 1920's Chicago. They have running water and electricity, a telephone, and a modest radio that was likely bought secondhand. MC has choices for what to wear (and repairs the clothes in lieu of buying new ones), and a good winter coat. Family!MC was able to provide winter coats + good shoes for their mother and sister, and Parent!MC can afford to pay Larochka for childcare and housekeeping, as well as toys and books for the tot. An MC without dependents would have more choices in clothes, eating out, going to clubs etc even with Flynn's debts - and sudden bills are easier to deal with.

Saving money isn't always possible, but every MC attempts to do it. And technically the car isn't their's, but they're still paying for the damn gas, so ... at least Flynn covers repairs. Sometimes. If he remembers.

Accountant is arguably the best at finances. I can see Musician being more frivolous, and Callgirl has to keep up appearances for her job. But ofc yall headcanon your MC's personal expenses and spending habits to be whatever. Like yall can HC anything; the above is just what Im considering what I write.

For the curious, Jack has a shit concept of money and struggles w what things are worth. Marius understands the latter (mostly), but likes to spend on dumb things and steals a lot anyway. Never used a bank in his life. Eveline's finances are handled entirely by Flynn; anytime she gets cash she stashes it. She gives to Marius as he needs it. Lottie thinks she's good with money but she loves buying pretty things and having fun, so yanno.

Ive been steadily plugging away at both interactive fictions this week; writing for Lackadaisy, and coding for Asoiaf. Here's a little update for those that are curious. The projects actually have names now!

The Last Spring is my ASOIAF interactive fanfiction. You can customize your Lady's appearance, her House, her personality, and pick between three love interests (so far): Ned Stark, Stannis Baratheon and Ashara Dayne. It's set a year before Robert's Rebellion, when Mad King Aerys was still in power.

This update will add House Mormont, as well as the Playful & Disarming personality and many text changes.

If I have the energy, I'd love to add the beginning of Chapter 2 to the update as well; aka the aftermath of your outburst with the King. And! Improve the character creator now that I'm (slightly) more knowledgable. Also, hmm, whose the next love interest... ~

Next! Under the Devil's Moon is the Lackadaisy one. I haven't mentioned anything about the plot, so let's do a fancy summary:

This was another challenge for me: A way more advanced character creator (30+ options) and getting to choose which specific characters you feel platonically or romantically for (you can be aromantic and/or ace too!). Rocky and Mordecai are my focus in love interests, but I'm absolutely planning for more. Devil's Moon has a very different story structure than Last Spring, one that's more forgiving of additional love interests and time skips (my betas picked up on this quick).

So, that's the 411! I'm just proud of my progress and wanted to share. Once I pretty up the html I'll post some pictures. It's been lots of fun to learn more and challenge myself :>

Which type of mc do u think mordecai and rocky would prefer the​ most?

Hmmm i tried to make them all kinda compatiable/interesting but there's probably standouts (and some that arent so great ...)

Musician probably meshes best with Rocky, for obvious reasons - same interests, creative spirits, playing fast and loose with the law... and they're more forgiving to his faults. Callgirl is also a good one; being more patient (but not as much as musician) to his down sides and finding the good side endearing bc of all the other shit men she's dealt with. Low bar and all that. Gunman is just a bad influence lol.

For Mordecai? I actually like his interactions with Accountant, but perhaps their personalities are too similar so it's a lot of snark-to-snark combat instead of more heartfelt stuff (or as heartfelt as he can be, lol). Distiller and [redacted] are probs someone who would be even more of a slowburn to his already-slowburn-scenes, BUT im a sucker for that.
