this gets its own masterlist because my shared canons one is getting way too long and there are five billion characters here. no one is reading this but it's for my own organization lol.

MAIN:

Caius Revan, once known as Ezari Katreos. a human, he has been the lynchpin of the galaxy's fate for three hundred years, and he wants to build his empire again.

Taristi’ver’ianico, Cipher Nine. a chiss, they were forced to take up their twin brother's identity when he betrayed Imperial Intelligence, and their position has done little but intensify the need to know why their family really died.

Nehiri Xalim, Champion of the Great Hunt. a togruta, she is a clanborn Mandalorian with a strict code of honor and a need to prove herself against the galaxy's scorn.

" Jinx, Jinx, let down a scarf, or however the saying goes! "

Having the gaul to stand on his white horse, Ilam cups his hands, shouting out towards the errie towers of Diasomnia. Ilam was plenty frightened by the dorm's housewarden, but it was highly unlikely he would show up now, right? Ringing Jinx's phone, but hanging up before anyone could answer, Ilam plops back down, impatient.

" Let's get a mooove, on! We're wastin' daylight, here! "

Jinx heard the muffled yammering of an impatient nuisance, and figured it must be Ilam finally there to pick him up. He opened the front door to Diasomnia and walked out, immediately met with a man on a white horse, a gross facsimile of a fairy tale prince. He rolled his eyes, and strolled to the horse, taking a moment to vault himself up so he could seat himself securely behind Ilam. 

“For the record, it’s ‘let down your hair’ and her rescuer didn’t actually say any of that,” he said, “Pick up a history book.”

" Heyy, Jamil! Just heard it was your birthday, an' I wanted to give ya' a little somethin'-somethin'. "

That was partly true— he was determined to get a good gift for his vice housewarden, but it had been a long time he'd been planning this. He needed his gift to stand out, but not to much. Wouldn't want to look like a suck up. But it also needed to have thought. Nothing to meaningful, but personal. Some part of it needed to be handmade, to remind Jamil of Ilam during this instance of kindness whenever it was used.

What Ilam had managed to come up with was a leather messenger bag. Big enough to carry labtop and other trinkets, but not large enough to become a bulky pain. On the front, was a simple stitching pattern in black thread along the edges, with Jamil's name carefully stitched in a small, nondistracting font along the bottom. The inside is lined with black fabric, with a couple of pockets, perfect for such a busy vice housewarden.

" Hope you can make good use of it. "

Customised items hardly qualify as the type of gift someone will get for a birthday they just happened to hear about, that much is a self-evident fact. Unless, of course, that someone — like Kalim — possesses an obscene amount of wealth one can dispose of at a moment’s notice. 

But for all his lively disposition and outward recklessness, Ilam is a far cry from being as guileless as Kalim. He is a member of Scarabia first and foremost, and Jamil isn’t so foolish as to believe that gestures like this are born out of spontaneous, genuine goodwill and appreciation.

There are plenty of reasons to feel suspicious, and Jamil feels justified in his apprehension. However, he will admit that it isn’t a bad gift, all things considered. It is practical, not too gaudy and, most importantly, nothing too personal or intrusive.

« Thank you Ilam, I really appreciate it, » Jamil says after inspecting the bag, offering a polite smile.  « I’ll make sure to repay your kindness in turn. »
