5. What is a character you love, but don’t think you can write? — I’ve tried Rom several times, and he always fizzles. I adore him but I just can’t quite get his voice.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your muse/muses. — I love how smart he is, and how deeply talented and resourceful he can really be. I also love how despite that he can be so... so dumb at times. And I love his stubbornness, how when he’s convinced he’s doing the right thing he will hold on no matter what.

7. What is one overrated roleplay trend? — If I get on my Google Docs rant again we will be here all day, so have the short version. I hate Google Docs. They aren’t nearly as accessible as a regular page or post, they’re a nightmare to open on mobile, they’re impossible to read half the time, and if you already have a theme set up there is no reason not to just put your info right there.

13. Is there one trope you can’t stand? — Not sure how often this comes up in roleplay, but in movies and shows I haaaaate when a character overhears only part of a conversation, and out of context it’s enough to sound really bad and give them the wrong impression. And instead of asking for clarification or realizing that they missed something, they will hold onto that misconception for a long long time. Plots born from miscommunication irritate the shit out of me.

18. What is one thing you’d wish to see more in the rp community? — Serena uses the phrase “generous assumptions” a lot, and I like that. It means instead of assuming the worst of someone, you try to assume the best first, and give people chances to amend and work things out. I’m tired of seeing everyone implode because a headcanon was taken out of context, or an offhand remark had implications someone didn’t consider, and no one was willing to just sit them down and have an honest conversation.

22. Are there any red roleplay flags for you that make you back off immediately? — Answered. But also, I’ve noticed more and more lately that anyone calling people “freaks” in their rules should probably be avoided.

25. One thing you’d like new roleplayers to know? — The most important thing is to just be kind, understanding, and communicative. The next most important thing is the quality of your writing and characterization. You don’t need to worry about how your blog or your icons or your formatting look (unless you genuinely enjoy that, in which case go for it), and you don’t need to stress about matching all the latest trends. If you’re a nice person and a decent writer, you will find good partners.

Also, you don’t need a ton of followers, and frankly the more you have the more stressful it will get. Find yourself a small handful of committed, long-term partners and you will be so much happier.

we’ve been doing it on Discord and, actually, Dukat mun and I switched over from chatzy. It saves your log without having to pay for premium, which is really nice.

I kind of like the way Chatzy doesn’t require you to log in or sign up, so you kind of have a constant stream of new people, but I’d love a Discord group, too, if you know a good one!
