#Enamelling Sunday progress 😊 Still a lot more to do. I think it will have to be enamelling Monday tomorrow as I still have more bits to enamel and finish. The once a month kiln sessions are working well for me at the moment. I am building up stock for my #onlineshop & upcoming in-person shows. New in my online shop today: Double-sided Copper Disc Pendant | OCTOPUS’S GARDEN 03 The first pendant I made in this series was an experiment in melting crushed glass on a bed of enamel when I first started enamelling. When it came out of the kiln I wasn’t sure but once it had cooled down it looked like an underwater scene to me. Hence Octopus’s Garden. For this piece on Side 1 I started with a base of clear enamel and crushed glass then added different shades of blue to the piece and fired it again. Side 2 is for when the Octopus goes on his holiday in the Mediterranean. NEW! Gorgeous Orange and Green Enamelled Pendant which looks like a VOLCANO Erupting above a lush green valley. This Pendant has two main colours, Orange and Green. Some red and orange enamels get black spots if fired in the enamelling kiln for too long or too many times. I think that creates amazing effects. I gave the copper disc and extra thick layer of bright orange enamel powder and put it in the kiln for a bit longer than the usual 2.5 minutes I fire these pieces for. I love what this process achieved. The back of the pendant was enamelled has a plain grass green enamelled finish. Sharing a picture of something new I taught myself recently - I made these Wonky Measuring Spoons without looking at any instructions or tutorial videos. I worked it all out by myself! 😀 I have neglected #MarchMeetTheMaker this week... Today is Day 11 and I am still on Prompt 9: Learning curve. I am self taught and everything I do is on a #learningcurve. Whether it is making copper things, promoting my businesses or selling my work. For my craft I am always looking at new tutorial videos by people much more knowledgeable than me, I buy books that teach me new #skills, I try to #practice and #improve what I do all the time so can make better. Just having a website is not enough, it needs to work properly across all kinds of gadgets. So I have to keep updating my basic knowledge of #WordPress, #woocommerce etc. Just having #Facebook, #Instagram etc is not enough... you have to keep up with how things change, how trends change and how you maintain your profile. That is a whole different learning curve! All I will says to anyone reading this is Keep Learning Keep Trying Keep Doing Thanks @joannehawker for setting this up. New Toys! 😀 Treated myself to a couple of piercing saw frames, 4 & 6 inch deep. My trusty saw is 2.5" deep which is great for smaller things but if I want to work on a big sheet without waste then it fails. I enjoy sawing so it is a good idea to have the right tools for the job. Happy with the finished piece 😊 I decided to make it into a necklace. I had enamelled these and many more copper circles for my very popular earrings. These 10 were a slightly different size to all the other circles so had been sitting in bowl for almost 3 weeks. Thought I'd have a play and this piece just came together. I am very happy with it. Should I make more? Maybe I will... Next job is to get the #necklace photographed and added to my online shop. Hopefully later today.
