I also do have an itsy bitsy bitty problem with casting mostly actors of color (Ares is the exception) to play the more antagonistic mythological beings in the series. Like, Medusa was played by a Black actress, Zeus (arguably the shittiest of the big three) was played by a Black actor, Hermes (who isnt a big bad but is framed as being a bad father) was played by a Latino actor, and a Japanese actor was playing a character who seems to be Kronos. Meanwhile, Hades, Poseidon, and Hephaestus are played by White actors. And while Christopher Judge and Sam Claflin are just fancasts at the moment, I think it's worth noting that we have to be more reflective on why we fancast certain actors for certain roles becos implicit biases are a thing, like fancasting a Black actor for an antagonist role and a White actor for a more heroic one.

That or I'm overthinking and Walker Scobell has simply been rewatching Catching Fire over the weekend 🤷🏻‍♀️

saying that santos being right about langdon is the easy way out for the show in terms of their storyline is so laughable. no actually! it isn’t! the easy way out is allowing the white man everybody loves to come away clean while a woman of color everybody hates potentially gets fired for a false accusation. the hard way out is forcing the audience to deconstruct their unconscious biases when it comes to caring more about langdon than santos because doing that is a matter of life or death in the emergency room. y’know. what they’ve been doing the entire show.

i don't know who needs to hear this today but the jedi would not be body-shy

especially during the war. some would be uncomfortable, sure, or even heavily dislike being nude and/or bathing around others, but the point of that is that would be respected as a choice. there is a very large difference between preferring not to be nude around others, for cultural religious or personal reasons, versus being ashamed. nothing you can do can convince me jedi would be ashamed or embarrassed of their or others' bodies.

why. why would the jedi think nudity undignified. why would they turn their noses up at it as unseemly, rather than a choice and preference

Gonna say it again, "Just stop consuming the genre" is THE WORST POSSIBLE RESPONSE to someone complaining about the lack of representation in their preferred genre!! And "Consume other stuff too" is not much better!!! I don't care how much you think varying media consumption is a Good and Holy lifestyle, not everyone wants to do that! There is no obligation to do that and there should not be! Because it's fucking entertainment. It's not a college major.

watching kas on the traitors talk about being ostricised genuinely made me cry. the man did NOTHING wrong and was nothing other than sweet and people hounded him. he seemed done by the end and I genuinely think certain (joe) people should reconsider their racial biases...

it’s also not a very intelligent take bc like, it’s barely even true? horror movies are imo a very effective mode of propaganda bc more often than not these themes reflecting cultural anxieties are not loudly announcing “this is about [insert topic here] btw”. they’re using metaphors that work as subtle scare tactics and leave little fragments of ideas in the mind. a huge amount of old horror movies are built on the idea that immigrants are evil, but even today a lot of people watching them don’t notice it. it’s not outright telling you the idea it’s priming you to hear some propped up asshole politician recite the point and go “oh, that makes sense” because media has conditioned you to believe the fear tactics they’re spewing
