Another small peek into my sdv portrait mod in the works... plus a look at some of the sprite work i've been doing for it. Particuarly george's wheelchair and his face that's in a whole different style which has always been annoying to see but even moreso since I started using a wheelchair myself and have become more visibly disabled................ I guess i should just call this a visual overhaul for the characters at this point lmao

Random thing about James Somerton's videos since everyone is talking about them right now. I watched a few of his videos a while back and by a while back I mean like 2 years ago but I stopped watching because his videos just lacked passion I guess. Like they felt more like someone being forced to read off a script for a topic they didn't care about and now with the context of most of his work being plagiarized and about topics he sometimes knew very little about that vibe makes a whole lot more sense.

Are any of my followers wheelchair users and if so could you guys give me some advice or resources for writing characters using wheelchairs living in a more urban/country side and wooded areas? And the types of modifications for older houses and those infuriating three steps some homes have to get into the house.. mostly looking for tips for writing/illustrating how fast a character can go when having to run from something especially through a more terrain heavy area

After my first day of school I have come to multiple conclusions, especially from the view of a physically disabled person, which I wasn't last school year.

° Stairs, a lot of them, I don't even know if the elevator works

° You need a doctors note for ANY accomodations, this is especially bad because I can't miss school because of the same school policy

° You are marked absent even with a doctors note, effectively putting people who miss a lot for medical reasons (doctors appointments, getting sick) at a disadvantage for exam exemption

° Unless you have a good teacher you cannot get your accomodations in any class, even as simple as notes in a tablet instead of paper

° The school is not accessible in the slightest, they have 3 ramps, one which is full of holes and the door is always locked + heavy, to get to the 2nd floor of the school it's 3 sets of stairs and an elevator I have never seen work

° A disabled poc will be less likely to be accommodated than a disabled white person or anybody with a sports injury

I want to ask more about this even though I can still walk unsupported and climb the stairs (albeit a bit slowly). The school should be more accessible in any way, even if not disabled because it's a lot of walking every day with a 20lb backpack on your person.
