QUANTUM LEAP : A HARRY POTTER MULTIVERSE RP

MAIN VERSE DETAILS

You would think something as tremendous as a temporal rift in space and time would occur by a bang or a clash or, at the very least, a crackle, but that’s not how it happened. There was no explosion. People went to bed in their respective eras, but when they woke up, generations had collided in a brutal clash.

There were wizards from 1980, an era well into the First Wizarding War, several months before the conflict would come to an abrupt halt. There were witches from 2001, an era still rehabilitating from the brutal traumas and horrors of the Second Wizarding War. And finally, there was 2029, an era that had been marked by peace and prosperity – until now.

People turned to the Ministry of Magic for answers – for solutions – but all they could offer were vows that they were doing everything possible to fix the situation, assigning their unspeakables with the insurmountable task of finding a way to reverse this mess. Until then? Everyone is simply stuck in 2029, expected to live their lives as normally as they possibly can right now.

But you know what they say: things never happen the same way twice.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Quantum Leap is incredibly member driven. This roleplay is intended to be based off of the popular concept of sandbox rp, allowing members to create their own universes and plots, giving them the freedom to roleplay whatever they want when they want. It is meant to combine the fun of indie roleplay (which allows for characters to have multiple verses) and the teamwork of a group roleplay. The era clash verse will act as our “main” verse (or home base). The AUs will be decided on and created together – I strongly encourage group collaboration and worldbuilding here. Members will be able to submit their own AUs as well, if they have a plot idea they’ve been dying to roleplay. As we will be roleplaying in all of the verses concurrently, participation in any of the AUs is purely optional; if one of our AUs isn’t for you, you’re more than welcome to opt-out and simply roleplay your character(s) in another verse.

Because there are characters from Marauders Era, Trio Era, and Next Generation here, characters might have different last names or backstories in many of the AUs. That being said, do not take that as an opportunity to ship, for example, Arthur and Rose in a verse. Simply put – do not be weird or gross.

Remember to still be inclusive with everyone, but some verses can also be smaller and involve less characters if members wish – for example, if you’d like to roleplay the Marauders as the Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m all for that.

You’re required to mark the timestamp and verse on all of your posts to try to avoid confusing people. Since we will be roleplaying in all of the verses concurrently, you must have a navigation and a proper tagging system, especially if you decide to make your blog a MUMU blog.

Our final acceptance date will be Monday the 19th at 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST / 8 PM GMT.

RULES

Although this is an informal small group, all of the normal rules of roleplaying still apply. These common sense rules include (but aren’t limited to): Don’t godmod. Don’t powerplay. Cut your posts unless you’re mobile to keep the dash tidy. Tag your triggers and keep smut under a read more. Do not use large 500px gifs on the dash as they can slow down computers. Keep your blogs and replies legible and accessible. (This includes no sub + small text. Small text is the smallest you can use, but make sure it’s readable on your blog as well.) If you need clarification on any of these, please feel free to ask!

This rp is likely to contain mature themes, and thus, I don’t feel comfortable accepting any muns or muses under the age of eighteen. That being said, while we might have some mature themes in this roleplay, this does not include taboo plots such as incest or pedophilia. This is probably another one of those common sense rules, but I just want to make sure we’re all on the same page! In addition, sensitive/important topics such as mental illness, disabilities, abuse, gender, race, sexuality, drug and alcohol misuse, etc. are not allowed go under-researched or poorly portrayed.

Remember to give your character flaws and weaknesses. It’s not at all expected that your muse should be fully developed by the start of the roleplay, but please try your best to give them depth and remain realistic. Just like we aren’t perfect, neither should our characters be. And while muses are certainly allowed (and expected!) to change over time and contradict themselves, major character and plot development should not happen overnight. Characters can certainly be unpredictable, but please do your best to stay IC and think their actions through. Even and especially in AUs, it’s important to keep them IC at heart, despite the fact that you’re roleplaying them in new scenarios and circumstances.

Deceased face claims, face claims who have committed a serious crime, face claims deemed highly problematic, and face claims who do not wished to be used are banned from this roleplay. Additionally, I have made the decision to also ban face claims that trigger any members, as I want this to be a safe place for everyone. If you are a member who is triggered by a FC due to their past actions, please don’t be afraid to come to me, and I will be happy to ban them for you. Your comfort is very important to me. Try to use your best judgement, but if you aren’t sure whether your face claim will be welcome here, please feel free to send in a message! I’d be happy to discuss it with you.

Our activity limit is two weeks, so if it’s been over two weeks since I’ve heard from you, your role will be reopened. However, I’m very lenient with hiatuses and semi hiatuses, so please don’t be afraid to ask for one if you need it! And if you are removed for inactivity, you’re always welcome back when you have more time on your hands!

I’m really aiming for a friendly OOC community. We will have an discord chat where members are welcome to chat and plot, and I’ll be watching the starter tag very carefully to ensure that no one is being ignored, so just know that I won’t tolerate bubble roleplaying. I understand that muses are finicky, but it’s always awful to be the odd one out, and I don’t want you to be afraid to come to me if you feel left out. I really want this roleplay to become a welcoming place.

To encourage a welcoming OOC environment, every member is required to reach out to at least three people you don’t already know to plot connections. I know it can be intimidating to ask if someone wants to plot, but in order for a group to thrive, we have to interact with each other! Everyone must also like all the character introductions that are posted – there will be a tracked tag, so it’ll be easy to keep up with them. In addition, you must respond to two open starters before posting an open starter of your own. If you reblog an ask meme, you must pay it forward and send out memes to the other people who’ve reblogged it. I will be reminding you of these rules once we start, and I might add onto them as well.

I know it’s hard sometimes, but please try to treat everyone with respect, kindness, and civility. In the unfortunate event that there is OOC drama or issues with another member, I encourage you to approach me, so I can help solve it! That’s what I’m here for, after all.

No racism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, antisemitism, ableism, etc. under any circumstances. It will not be tolerated. Neither will abusive behavior or plagiarism. You’ll be immediately kicked out of the group.

As of right now, you are allowed up to three muses. (If you choose to take up multiple muses, I would prefer it if they weren’t all from the same era, but it’s not a requirement.) Please remember that you will be held to the activity limit on all of your muses and try not to take more than you can handle.

At the minimum, every other muse you take must be a person of color. And of course, we will not tolerate whitewashing, so if your character is canonically a POC, your FC choice must be a POC as well. But remember that representation is not about fulfilling quotas; I expect research and care to be put into these characters to avoid playing into harmful stereotypes.

OCs and semi canons are allowed, but do not apply for the relative of a taken character without asking the mun first (unless the muse you’re interested in is already a canon character).

HOW TO APPLY

If you’re interested, please reblog this post to let me know. Or if you cannot reblog it, iming me is fine. (I will assume that likes are bookmarks unless you im me as well.)

If you’ve expressed interest in the group, I will message you privately asking who you are interested in applying for and then I’ll send you a private link to the application. Because I want this to be a simple process for everyone, I’ve decided to make this roleplay first come, first serve, so I won’t be deciding between multiple applications for a role. You’re more than welcome to reserve a character, face claim, and/or surname for 48 hours if you’re worried that somebody else might apply for the role before you get the chance.

We are semi appless/appless. Aside from OOC information, you will only have to write out three muse headcanons for your application. There’s no minimum word count for these headcanons, so don’t stress if they’re short – it’s meant to be a very simple application that should take an hour at most (but probably less).

Depending on the amount of applications received, I anticipate that the application period will last no more than two weeks. Once we are full, this group will become private and close for applications.
