I am on Windows 7 with same game install from disc since 2010. I have a Lenovo Laptop with with Intelchip Graphics. Kiri assisted me a few years back with updating my graphic rules and since then I don't have issues with crashing unless something is conflicting within my extremely heavily modded game. I would say the most important thing to do is make a complete backup of your Game. Not sure what configuration you have. I have Sims 2 double deluxe (all games & stuff packs). So I also make periodic backups of my EA Game folder (includes folders for Sims 2, Sims 2 Store, & Sims 2 Double Deluxe folder).

I also make separate backup copies of my Downoads Folder, LotCatalog, Music Folder, Pet Breeds Saved Sims and zCEP-Extra folders because I often make periodic changes to these folders (adding and removing). Hopefully I've understood your question and this helps in some way.

I just reread your post .. I don't believe you can just copy the files you have reinstall the game and replace the game folders and files with the ones you saved. If I am incorrect somebody please help

Question about reinstalling/moving TS2

Hey friends, I’m gonna be downgrading my Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 cause of lots of driver problems and its constant badgering for me to upgrade to Windows 10. Have any of you done this before? Is this wise?

I’m using dual Intel/NVIDIA cards, would it cause more issues if I downgraded to Win7 compared to if I upgraded to Win10? 

Also, since that would involve rescuing whatever I have in my Local Disk C, I was wondering what are the most important components to retain so that I don’t lose the Sims in my Bodyshop and the houses in my lot bin? Cause when I copied my stuff into an external, some files were said to be ‘cannot be read from the source/disk’. Does this make a difference?

Hope some of you who are more technically experienced can help me. Thanks!

Why free Microsoft Windows 10 is "pain" of Intel?

Users can benefit from free policy Windows 10 by Microsoft, however, that could well be the sorrow of Intel, the company producing computer chips.

Microsoft is promoting a free upgrade for users of Windows 10 later this month, but this may be bad news for Intel – one of the longtime partner of Microsoft and are worth up to 140 billion market USD.

The reason is simple. Previously, every time Microsoft launches a new version of Windows, many customers will buy new computers to upgrade their PC. But with Microsoft’s free upgrade Windows 10, many people using Windows 7 and 8.1 will simply choose to upgrade the operating system for the current computer, no need to buy a new machine as before.

That also means that computer sales may slow down and companies make money from the production of computer components such as Intel – companies profit most from the production of processor chips for the PC – may have seen their sales decline in the coming months.

Gartner analyst Mike Hung, shared with The Business Insider: “Some computer manufacturer recently stated that they do not expect sales will soar in the coming time, the reasons Microsoft users a free upgrade Windows 10. The current view of the PC industry as effects from Windows 10 would rather quietly, at least in terms of promoting the purchase of new computers. ”

Market research firm Gartner predicted PC sales worldwide shipments will drop 4.5% this year. Earlier, the company posted sales of PCs have dropped 9.5% in QII / 2015 (compared with the same period in 2014).

This is bad news for Intel. Before the company reported financial results for the second quarter / 2015, the analysts have cut $ 0.5 for earnings per share (according to estimates) of the company. Intel’s quarterly revenue has been estimated only reached 13.06 billion dollars, lower than the figure of 13.2 billion that Intel had planned earlier.

Mr. Mario Morales, an analyst at IDC, said Windows 10 will gradually boost PC sales, but not immediately. “It will take some time for Windows 10 actually enters the market, especially in the enterprise market and I think that it would have come to bring good growth for the PC industry,” – experts this analysis.

Mr. Morales also said Intel is likely to cut staff in the coming months, as part of a plan to restructure the company’s operations. Last month, in a leaked email, Intel CEO, Mr. Brian Krzanich been confirmed that it will cut a few hundred workers “regardless of location.”
