Books I Am Reading: where do I even start with this? I’m currently reading through another box set of m|m romances, in the middle of some old opera-based m|f romances by Mary Burchell, have just sobbed at the end of the Adrian Mole books by Sue Townsend (because it paralleled her own loss to cancer - the books are funny but the knowledge is bittersweet), have just bought the Homecoming box set by H.J Welch,  and my son has promised to loan me his Richard Ayoade books.

What made you decide to create this blog? I already had a blog, but I started to post a lot of Kate/Ghostbusters stuff and I just felt like it was weird because it was more of a Swan Queen blog. Besides I share it with my straight best friend and she was done with all my obsessing about Kate haha ;) Anyways, I also started to write Holtzbert fanfiction and I just really needed a place to talk and post about Kate/Ghostbusters :) Soooo I guess that’s why! :)

So right now I'm loathe to post some questions because I'm not in the best of internal moods. I haven't been for a while now, which is why I've been putting these answers off, sorry m'dear. On the whole I've been having a wonderful break, but I'm just… Well, I'm fighting it off. That's the important part.

1. Describe your favourite aroma? (Need Help? Close your eyes and think of its texture, colour, sentiments…) Favourite aroma. This is slightly embarrassing. I'm going to have to go the slightly-scrathy-but-soft, limp-but-tangible-and-hanging-on-by-bare-threads, always-comforting-and-standard-in-any-bed-I-sleep-in-for-longer-than-two-weeks aroma of my bear. Yes. That's right. I still have my bear from when I was younger, and he smells like home-comfort-tears-sweet-sweat-cuddle-safe. He's usually lost in unknown places on my bed, unneeded, but he is always there when I do. Faithful companions are hard to find.

2. Ballpoint or Fountain pen? For every day use, ballpoint. For when I feel like I want to write nicely, or if I have a bit more time during everyday, fountain. I need to practice a lot more before I'll be able to use my fountain pen in everyday stuff.

3. What is your biggest fear? Currently it's a three-way tie between failing university, completely failing to get in shape on time for archery competitions and failing to find a job (both short term and long term). Wonderful stuff, fears. Let's also not mention fears that people I love will die or decide for whatever reason that I'm not worth loving and all of those sort of things that exist under the thoughts of near everyone.

4. If you could live in any book/tv show/film what would it be, who would you be and why? Ooh. It's a tie right now between Harry Potter and Sherlock (though Narnia is a close second with HP). Harry Potter because it incorporates the adventure and fantasy into current-day life situations. And really, who doesn't want to live in the world of magic, Hogwarts, and so on? The one to truly win this would be Sherlock, dependant on Sherlock finding me tolerable enough to tail/accompany him (and John, of course). The combination of adventure and forensics alone is a huge draw, not to mention the general fascination I have for his personality. I'm not saying I'd be able to handle his acerbic nature and insults all the time, or even most of the time. I'd like to think that I would though; that I wouldn't mind. Having his brain to bounce ideas off of would be a gift beyond everything. Also, one of the foremost reasons I'd love to exist in that world would be because I'd want him to deduce me, and to tell me what is wrong with me. The wrong way to go about things, I know, because I should evaluate that for myself, but one of the reasons I tend to gravitate around shows that have a brilliant-outcast character is because I like to try and think of what they would say to me. Perhaps a balance of good and not good, I don't really care. I'd just like to know what, exactly, I should be working on to fix. I often imagine myself to be in an exhaustingly foggy street with a lamp that illuminates the windows only a few of the stores closest by. To be able to see through more of that fog would be lovely. Not to mention the fact that he is quite content with being different, and after many years of being alone in that way, I love to see someone who accepts and EMBRACES that difference.

5. Describe your favourite place? I don't know that I really have one, if I'm being honest. There is not one place I enjoy beyond all others that radiates comfort and home and safe to me. I'm a firm believer in making "home" to be wherever you are at the time, due to extensive traveling through my childhood because of archery. Certainly any one of my favourite places must have an internet connection, as thenI can connect with the people that I love and the environments that I enjoy, such as Tumblr. It has to be a little isolated, or at least not full of people where I have to make conversation. My loved ones are allowed, as are those I trust, but other than that… No. Being alone, or away from unknown people, is something I enjoy immensely.

6. Are you not a paradox? I feel like this is a reference that I should know/do know but i can't place it. If it isn't… Aren't we all, to some extent?

7. What expression/gesture do you have/do as a standard? I couldn't say for sure (though I could probably ask a few people  and they could tell me), but I'd rather say that I have a couple? My eyebrow raise, for one. Hiding my mouth behind my hand. My hip-checking. I do that a lot, if that counts as a gesture. I cross my arms as well as join my hands either in front or behind me, so I'm not sure if I have a standard listening/at ease pose. Oh. When I walk, generally I have my left arm raised in sort of the stereotypical "gossip-girl-with-a-purse-in-hand/hanging-off-arm" pose. This is due to many years with an archery quiver (the thing that holds the arrows) that was made for adults, not children, and thus to avoid swinging my arm into my arrows I had my arm lifted to directly under breast-height. I look like half a dinosaur. xP Though I don't need to have my hand lifted while walking with my quiver anymore, it is a habit that has stuck, and often occurs in everyday life as well. I often catch myself doing it. :3

8. With what do you relate most: hot, warm or cold? Hot. Mainly because my internal temperature seems to run at a much higher temperature than others as I sweat like a pig. This causes my hands and feet to be cold as they are eternally clammy. It is a rare time when my hands aren't clammy. This will be too much information, but I sweat while reading a book, for Christ's sake. I don't know what that says about how I process exciting or stressful events that I read/witness (happens for movies/TV shows too), but all I'll say is that it's exceedingly annoying. I wear sweaters, not long sleeves. Layers I must be able to take off. I wore my first long sleeve in over two years this past Christmas. (Not counting the long sleeved under-armour I wear to counter cold weather for archery - that counts as layering, like a sweater, only sweaters are too bulky to shoot in so long sleeves it is.)

9. What’s your favourite fanfiction at the moment? (please state the fandom and otp if it exists) Oh. God. Sherlock. Anything Sherlock, preferably either Johnlock or Mystrade. My favourite right now? … I don't… Hmmm. One I ALWAYS go back to is The Blog of Eugenia Watson, by MadLori. I reread that one monthly, if not biweekly. There is such a WONDERFUL combination of things in that fic that I can't even begin to express my love for it. A Study in Winning (JupiterAsh) and Performance in a Leading Role (MadLori again) are tied in second. Both are outstanding. I read nearly all fanfiction except explicit BDSM, torture, rape, and so on. Omegaverse is generally alright, but it has to be a good author or written somewhat innocently (in that the… squicky-ness of omegaverse must be said to be a nature of the omegaverse, and not the fic. i.e., it must be consensual, and generally involving a relationship where they sort out any problems that may occur). BDSM is not really my thing, and I generally avoid FF tagged as such, though light BDSM is generally acceptable… I just don't enjoy reading it very much. Give me a fluff fic any day.

Supernatural fics (magic!verse, potterlock, etc - not SPN-fics) are among my favourites as well. Empath/Mage!John is just… Ngh. Gender-bent either John, Sherlock or Lestrade (LEAST OF ALL POSSIBLE MISTAKES by rageprufrock!!! for the best fem!Lestrade) is a joy as well. I'd love to read a really long-extended verse of either femJohn or femSherlock. In those cases I generally enjoy het rather than femslash, though I do enjoy femslash. Wing!lock is also a favourite. Music!lock is wonderful too. Dancer! or Ballet!lock is outstanding. Parent!lock (Mpreg included) is an amazing thing if written well - the previously mention Eugenia, earlgreytea68's wondrous Nature and Nurture, prettyvk's amazing Crazy For Love come to mind. Titanic!lock is aljdfhladjs worthy (flawed amethyst's recent foray is stunning). Pride & Prejudice!lock is wonderful too. Retirement!lock is fucking amazing. Bunny!/animal!lock holds a special place in my heart. To be downright honest, I read almost ANY possible verse of Sherlock fanfiction. So long as it's written well, I will love it. Quite literally, (almost) anything goes.

10. Could you please share something you’ve wanted to but haven’t got the chance, please? Hmmmm. I can't really think of anything? Sorry, nothing immediately comes to mind. I'm pretty open on here, so most of what I hide from people in real life (barring my trusted ones) is readily available to find on here. :3

1. Describe your favourite aroma? (Need Help? Close your eyes and think of its texture, colour, sentiments…)

Probably either the smell of Lavender because it reminds me of staying at my Nan and Grandad's house when I was little or that crisp, clean scent of a new book when you first open it, it's difficult to choose. 

2. Ballpoint or Fountain pen?

Ballpoint every time, Imma leftie so fountain pens make my work look like someone gave a pen to a monkey... 

3. What is your biggest fear?

I have lots of little phobias (clowns, touching feet, etc) but I've always had a fear of closing my eyes in showers, probably not the biggest but definitely the weirdest I'd say...

4. If you could live in any book/tv show/film what would it be, who would you be and why?

I want to say the obvious of being the Doctor to travel all of time and space but he suffers was too much heartache for my liking... I'd love to be in the show 'Medium' as Allison (a psychic who works for the NYPD and spirits come to her to help her solve their murders) because her job is so interesting her children are gorgeous and her husband is perfect so that would be pretty good. 

5. Describe your favourite place?

Everyone has the place they go to when they feel out of control or just to escape the world, mine is this little wooden sea hut that I sit in after I go for a run or a walk along the coast when I'm on holiday, it overlooks the sea and it's just so lovely to sit at, I could spend my entire day there. (wow, getting a little bit cheesy... moving on...)

Hmm... Isn't everyone a paradox at one point? 

7. What expression/gesture do you have/do as a standard?

I'm not actually sure... I have a tendency to use pet names for absolutely everyone... I once called my maths teacher "my dear" that was awkward...

hot because i'm smoking hawt... jkjk

Cold because my hands and feet are always freezing. 

9. What’s your favourite fanfiction at the moment? (please state the fandom and otp if it exists)

I recently read 'Smirk' by StarsandHarts which is based around HartSquared (my Holy Trinity OTP) and that fic is absolutely fabulous 10/10 would recommend but NSFW so read with caution. 

I am also loving We Wear Plaid Now by noblydonedonnanoble which is based on Tatennant my RLOTP to end all RLOTP's (srsly they're my bbs) the storyline is unique and brilliant and we always need more Tatennant fics in our lives, amirite?

10. Could you please share something you’ve wanted to but haven’t got the chance, please?

Music Shuffle Meme

First of all, I have to say a massive apology for the delay in posting a reply to this; since I actually carried out the task as soon as I was aware I’d been tagged. Well…. I say that, but my laptop decided to crash as I was done doing this, I had to wait for my little IT man to sort it all out; and then the migraines bit back with their usual vengeance that gives me only one day off from all that (my day off was Monday but then the upsetting news kicked that one out the window). Plus, when I have a migraine my memory does that “go back to default mode” thing and I clean forget what I was in the middle of if I haven’t been prepared enough to leave myself copious notes. Apparently an open Notepad on my desktop isn’t enough *sigh* so the task wasn’t completed immediately.

18: When do you feel truly at peace?

All sorts of times spring to mind for when I feel truly at peace. Like now, as I hear children playing outside in their garden and someone far off mowing the grass. Or late at night when I have the house all to myself as everybody else sleeps, knowing they have to get up for work in the morning and I don’t. Or walking over to the town centre and taking the time to stop and admire the small but beautiful garden outside the church that proudly sits nestled amongst all the grandiose brickwork of the town square. Or at night when I walk home from the station in the dark, passed the very same church and see the modern glass bell tower all lit up as the bell-ringers practise their pieces in the tastefully illuminated space.

Peace can come in all sorts of places, and sometimes when it does, it surprises you. For instance, I was once on the verge of a panic attack, sitting in the middle of George Square, Glasgow, because my husband had to leave me on my own to get something I desperately needed. So I tried out a visualising technique I had recently read about, imagining someone holding my hand as I sat with my eyes screwed tight shut. And I felt a strong hand holding mine, easing aware my panic and calming me right down. By the time my husband got back I was completely at peace, enjoying the scenery before me.

So peace occurs when you can look at the things before you and truly enjoy that moment; whether it be by a river, greenery, buildings, other people, or just your own living space. Peace occurs when you let everyday worries ebb away and let hope in as life carries on.

20: Do you believe happiness can exist without sadness?

We can all hope for and strive towards happiness. It is such a fleeting experience, after all, true and utter happiness. There is always something only all too ready and willing to come along and mar it. But in order to recognise, understand, and deeply appreciate happiness, unfortunately you do have to experience sadness. Happiness and sadness are like good luck and bad luck; in that I believe we are all apportioned our fair share of each throughout our lives. Whether you notice at the time is another matter. Some forms of happiness are fiercely fought for, so logic says that there has to be sadness along the way to achieving that. And happiness often helps us cope with sadness; like in times of grief when we are reminded of the happier times spent with a lost loved one.

So no, I don’t believe happiness can exist without sadness, because our state of being makes us ponder what is, what was, and what can be. Happiness and sadness have their parts to play in all this.  And more importantly, how we deal with them defines who we become.

24: What do you find most beautiful in people?

Beauty is skin deep, they say. And they are perfectly correct. Our attention may be caught by someone being visually attractive, but it is their words and actions that keep hold of any attraction, otherwise they just become visual bubble gum. One of the benefits of talking to people over the internet is that physical beauty is never used as a guard or a weapon. Instead our words, intonation, and personality have a greater chance to shine. Isn’t that wonderful? I think so.

The qualities I find beautiful are kindness, honesty, intelligence, talent, respectfulness, acceptance and tolerance. Some of these things put me in awe; others make me love people even more. Anyone who can add depth to my existence are beautiful in my eyes, always and forever. That’s an awful lot of people when you think about it. But who said there was a numerical limit?! :)
