Tips to consider while preparing for bank interviews
Bank jobs are one of the most competitive jobs in India and the competition for getting this job is already high. Everyone is trying their luck to get a bank job in one of the most recognized banks in India. After years of preparation, some aspirants able to score high mark and crack the written exam. But, even after scoring highest marks in the written examination, each bank will go through a personal interview round. There are many aspirants who score good marks in written but fail in personal interview round due to lack of confidence. Reading the minds of the panelists is not easy; therefore, we have come up with some helpful interview preparation tips for all bank aspirants. We cannot predict the exact questions but can predict certain topics on which panelists might ask questions. So, let’s find out what to prepare for the personal interview round?
1.Personal details – In every sector, the process of the interview started with the personal information question - “Tell me about yourself”. So, just get prepared with your quick bio wherein you will be asked about your family background, education and work experiences. Always remember that you have to start your intro with just 2-4 lines on family background and then emphasis more on your skills, strengths, and achievements.
2. Study your resume – Resume is an official document of you and it carries many questions, so make sure that whatever information you are adding on your resume is factual. Know what you have written on your resume so that you won’t give any wrong answer to the panelists.
3. Understanding of banking – So, you are preparing for a bank interview and it is obvious that you are going to ask unexpected bank related questions. Therefore, it is important to research about banking and financial sector.
4. Current affairs or latest bank news – Bank panelists will not just test your knowledge about banking but also test how much you know about national or world events and other bank-related news. Reading general knowledge books and newspapers daily will help you to stay updated with all the information.
5. Proficiency in local language – Generally public banks look for the candidates who are proficient in the local language of the state so that they can easily interact with the customers. Bank employee needs to be good in communication skill because it is a job where you have to deal with the customers’ every day.
6. Know the bank organization – It is very important to know about the bank for which you are going to be interviewed. Yes, do extensive research right from history to growth, achievements and so on. Moreover, you can also check the website of the bank and go thoroughly the website to know the bank more.
7. Lastly, why bank job? – This question is often asked during bank interview. So be ready with your best answer and show how much you are interested to work in a bank sector.
Don’t forget that first impression is your last impression, hence be presentable and wear formal outfit. Be calm and answer each question one by one. The panelists will ask you different types of question and if some of the questions you don’t know, don’t panic. You can go for the next question; they don’t want you to answer each question, so don’t lose your confidence.

So, when was the last time you interviewed? How did it go for you? My guess is that it went poorly for you and that is no slam on you personally it’s just that most people fear interviews and lose a lot of jobs as a result. I read something like 85% of people in the work force right now had to go through 5-6 interviews before they landed the job that they are in right now. Now there may be multiple reasons for this figure but let me tell you the overwhelming majority of people, if they knew the secrets of successful interviewing skills would land the job they want every time. Instead of getting turned down, they would be turning down job offers

Interviewing is a two-way street.  Obviously, the organization is using the interview process to evaluate you and your credentials to determine if you are a solid fit for the company’s needs.  But the interview is equally important for the opportunity it affords you to evaluate how well the company and the position match what you are seeking.  Formulating a series of well-thought out questions in advance of the interview will not only help you draw out pertinent information form the interviewer, but also demonstrate your intelligence and sincere interest in the position at hand.

1.) Smile
A smile is a magic thing, and in addition to being seen in person it can be felt from a distance. When doing a phone interview, don’t think that because the person on the other end of the phone can’t see you that smiling and other positive body gestures are not important. The best interview tip that anyone was ever given was to smile and make positive gestures. In fact, many people talk with their hands. If you do, consider a head set to free your hands up.
