kashvi was born in the middle of a thunderstorm, practically delivered on the side of the road as her mother recalled many times growing up. the crunch of her father's plastic covered taxi seats was a detail that was never forgotten, but never without her father chiming in to remind them all about how often they'd argued over the plastic and how useful it was when the water broke. luckily they'd make it, and they praised fate. her parents would have claimed it to be some deity but her parents always held a foot on each line despite the tugs of their parents to fall back into their roots and traditions.

they were first born immigrants and with that came a pause on how they wanted to raise their daughter as the reminder of how hard it was to feel like an outsider in a country they were born into. while kashvi was born with certain parts, holidays and beliefs that kept her attached to her culture, a lot remained stories and memories spoken around the dinner table. the one that stayed was the intent for her to be a good human and a successful daughter.

they'd born worked hard to save up for her education and that remained a constant with the young girl. she was given the best tutors and put into all the extra curricular activities in order to get a good scholarship. when the letter came, she couldn't remember ever hearing her mother squeal so loud or her father cry but the acceptance letter paired with the scholarship to medical school was copied and framed in their living room.

the stresses that followed weren't anything she was prepared for, especially when many of her friends shifted her attention from school but to parties and drinking. soon enough, she lost her scholarship and was placed on probation.

kashvi pulled herself out of school before she could be removed and promised her parents she would return when she was ready. a year off turned into five, and now almost ten later and she's finally found herself saving up in order to return.

substitute teaching is her hell and she is the nightmare of many of the students in the school. she shouldn't be in a position to be teaching anyone but the money is too good to pass up and the children find her amusing. ( if you can think of the movie bad teacher ). She has been working on returning to medical school and trying her best but the bad tendencies and temptations are never that far off.

a core memory of mine is that when i was around 10, i got a really, REALLY bad fever. i didn't do anything except laying in bed watching tv, and i was also kind of delirious. my parents left me with my grandma, which was a BAD idea because she gave me unsupervised access to all their videocassettes. for two days straight, i watched all the (at the time available) two seasons of this tv show that permanently changed me as a person. it started off as a standard crime series: a young girl was murdered, a quirky detective gets on the case, starts to uncover the secrets of the town, blah blah blah. but then the quirky detective starts to have these weird ass dreams in this unsettling room and starts to see the dead girl and these weird men, and then apparently the dead girl was being haunted by a demon but the demon was actually her father but he was possessed?? i was obsessed with it. it was, to my 10 year old mind, so absurd that when i got better i thought it was all an hallucination of my fever ridden mind.

i think that was the most fitting introcution i could have had to twin peaks: confusing and unsettling and i loved it

Another vent post

It's frustrating when I actually decide to sit down and work on my thesis but it just doesn't... click. So I get nothing done even when I wanted to get something done, it's so disheartining and also stressful because it kicks my anxiety of not managing to finish into overdrive.

I just need one additional paragraph and then I can add all my sources with my citation program. Afterwards I can send it to my supervisor for proofreading (I already dread that because I know I will still need to work on the introcution, it's just a draft but still).

Also my supervisor told me he will send me a schedule when he will need me in the lab and guess what he didn't send? The fucking schedule! I'm just so sick and tired of him saying he will do stuff but in the end he will never actually do it and I need to remind him, because I actually need to know that shit. Yes you have a lot on your plate, but you are my supervisor! I'm dependend on you! SO FUCKING TELL ME THE THINGS I NEED TO KNOW THIS IS IMPORTANT! I will need to ask him because I need to know when exactly I will need to go back. Also I just rememember that I don't have a fucking train connection to my dorm during August which UGHHHH WHY GERMAN PUBLIC TRANSPORT??? WHY DO YOU INSIST ON FUCKING ME OVER IN MY LAST MONTH??

Annnd I just checked my mail just in case he did in fact send me a schedule but yeah still no dice. And I realized I missed the orga meeting because I have not checked my mail frequently enough... I cannot be fucked to care tbh, I will be in lab max five more times and then I will be gone. Nobody send me a text either so yeah don't think it's that important. It was very short notice too? In case anyone asks I just had an appointment during that time 🫡

Honestly today was just generally shit, I was feeling antsy the entire time, I still feel it right now and I don't know why. I went for a walk but that didn't really help and none of my other distraction methods really worked.

So yeah hoping tomorrow will be better.

I know this is hardly the blog to post this but anyway...

Every january, my favorite online yoga teacher, Adriene Mishler from “Yoga with Adriene” and her dog Benji post a series of free new yoga videos to her youtube channel called “30 Days of yoga” for the whole month of January. I’ve been doing this january series of her for almost seven years and I highly recomend it. Every year has a theme and january 2022 is Move.

It’s free, not sign up or anything. In the video she says something about sign up but that’s only to get the printable calendar and a daily email about the yoga video of that day, but you don’t have to, the videos get uploaded to her youtube channel daily nonetheless.

I’ll be doing it, as every year, so if anyone wants to join too, here you got the introcution video.

Besides this, you can find the 30 days of yoga from previously years in her channel, along with lots and lots of free yoga videos that I love, and she uploads a free yoga video each month (she also has a an app with more content but that’s a pay one but it’s very affordable even for me, if you want to check there’s a free week trial thing i believe).

I know it sounds like I’m trying to sell something but it’s just that I adore Adriene (even though she’ll never know who am I haha) and her dog Benji is the cutest dog in the world and the best yoga dog, and through this seven years of daily yoga with her videos, she’s brought so much goodness to my life, specially from all my chronic injuries and body pains and aches and weird body injury stuff, and to workout with a sport that for once I don’t hate (I can stand only yoga and dance...and the wii fit lol).

So if you feel like giving it a try, we can do it together!

I used to reenact the English Civil War. I joined Historia Normannis in September, it's a Reenactment group for the period between the battle of Hastings and the signing of the Magna Carta.

I'm 28, gender non conforming, and bi. I study Social Policy. I speak Welsh and English fluently, and speak passable French, and Norwegian, and I'm learning Polish and Japanese. I'm learning Polish because that's where one branch of my family comes from.

I joined Historia Normannis for the fighting, and stayed for the sewing and the memes.

These pictures are of my female impression. I like having the choice and I was so grateful to be a woman that day because I'd injured my leg in a foursome. XD
