Light Me A Lantern Chapter 38

Rating: T Pairing: Inuyasha/Kagome Summary:  Picking up the pieces after being separated for three years isn’t as easy as it may seem. A quiet, burning kind of chaos sweeps through Feudal Japan, and it’s going to take a lot more than a fairy tale ending to put things back together. They defeated a man who would become the Devil. Can they survive a man who would become a God?

Excerpt:

From the ruins of the fortress on the mountain, the Dragon broke free and soared up into the sky. Kagome watched it with the warm summer breeze on her sweaty skin and the scent of smoke burning her nose. The Dragon twisted and paced in circles as it surveyed the Demon Horde. Masao, suspended in its body, did not move. As the Dragon writhed with uncontainable fury, Masao was its mirrored opposite, dangerously still as he hung in the core of its body. For just a moment, Kagome was reminded of the curls of smoke rising off the tip of freshly lit incense, as she watched the movements on the Dragon, how gracefully it twirled in the air. In the brilliant sunlight of the day, high above the bloodshed and war, it could have been beautiful.

And then there came the came the roar - but it was not the Dragon’s. Masao’s voice, pitched high and breaking in his throat, echoed down the mountain and across the valley toward the village, rumbling through the seas of green treetops and rice paddies and rolling hills. His back arched with the strength of it as he bellowed into the sky. Kagome turned her body in towards Inuyasha on instinct, stepping closer against his side, her knuckles in a white grip around her bow. Down the mountain face, the horde touched down, thousands of demonic voices raising high as if in an echoing cry to the enraged God soaring overhead. An answer, a challenge, a dare.

This chapter is going to be a trust fall. You’re going to have to trust me. 

All that aside, I was close to shaking in anticipation and anxiety myself while I was writing this. It’s taken me seven years to get to the zenith of this story. I cannot thank everyone who’s stuck around after all this time enough. I promise it’s going to be worth it.

Tadokoro: Then when I looked at the documents, I saw that Moroha, who I was auditioning for, was the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome. After getting excited like “They had a child~!”, I saw Towa and Setsuna and screamed “I will be upset if they’re not XX’s children!” (translator’s note: they’re referring to the mother)

Komatsu: I really like Kagura, so her final scene (volume 38 chapter 6 "The Wind") is the best. I was just bawling, thinking how beautiful, fragile and sad it was. I wanted Kagura to be rewarded, but Sesshomaru had Rin, so I felt indescribably sad.

  Based on Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha manga and TV anime, Yashahime: Princess Half Demon is directed by Teru Sato and Masakazu Hishida and features animation production by Sunrise. Crunchyroll describes the story of the series as follows:

  Set in feudal Japan, half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family. Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a demon slayer working for Kohaku. Work In Progress Wednesday

Hi everyone, this is a long time coming WIP Wednesday, but hopefully updates will be back to being a LOT more regular.

So, there’s this little (hah) story I’ve been writing, and I haven’t updated it since May (sorry about that, life definitely got in the way), but I am actively working on the next chapter and moving towards completing the story!  

Thank you for your patience, and I give you a Work in Progress Wednesday snippet from Chapter 38 of Guardian!!

“…can’t believe you never took this into consideration!”

“Yeah well, it never seemed to come up before!”

“Are all canine yokai idiots? I swear, you all seem to think you can swing a sword and fight everything, how you have survived this long is beyond me.”

“Sounds like Kagura and Koga are at it…” Inuyasha muttered, and Kagome let out a small laugh.

“She’s right though.”

“Keh, rub it in, why don’t you?” Inuyasha grumbled, and Kagome squeezed his hand.

“Hey, don’t lump all canines into that!” Shippo interjected, his face red as Inuyasha and Kagome entered the room.

“Fine, then, I will limit it to dogs and wolves… at least the kitsune’s have some self-preservation skills.” Kagura’s burgundy eyes were flashing at the bristling Koga and silent Toga.

“At least we aren’t trying to hide behind some damn computer screen, directing others to do our work for us.” Koga snarled.

“And even with being behind that computer screen I was able to learn more in a week than you had in months.” Kagura shot back. “You keep snarling and baring your teeth at me, but let me make it simple for you, just say ‘thank you Kagura.’”

“Thank you Kagura.” Kagome’s voice was soft but carried through the room, stopping the bickering yokai in their tracks. “He may not be able to say it but thank you.  Without you and Shiori I…we…” Kagome swallowed, leaning into Inuyasha who released her hand to wrap his arm around her shoulders.

The wind sorceress smiled, her eyes softening as she looked at the pair. “I’m just glad we made it in time. At least I know there is one dog that knows our value.”

“Oh come on, you bitch at us then go all soft on the mutt?” Koga grumbled only to be blown back with a precise swing of Kagura’s fan.

“Unlike you, Inuyasha actually has a brain in his head.” Koga scowled as Kagura spun on her heel, dismissing him as she walked away.

“She’s useful once and thinks she fucking owns the place.” He mumbled as he pushed away from the wall.

Let's talk about Kouga's Sword It's time for an Inulysis

Kouga, the Leader of the Wolf Demon Tribe has incredible speed and physical strength. Besides acquiring Goraishi, why didn't Kouga use his Katana?

In the InuYasha Profiles Book Page 154 it states that "Kouga has a long sword at his hip, but he has never used it. Even when he was injured and surrounded by swords in a serious crisis, he managed to fight without using his sword. This is because his Wolf-Demon clan instincts do not rely on weapons." Of course this explains why Kouga didn't use the sword. Keep in mind the profiles book was released before Volume 35, as in Volume 35 Kouga does use it once in chapter 340 - on page 31 and 32 against Moryomaru On page 38 he explains that he stole it from a human once for decoration, and that he never thought he would have to use it.
