It's been a long time since I've done Pokémon Gijinkas. I think I started burning out from it after later down the line. I decided to make gijinkas for my all-bird team in Pokémon Violet, previously seen here.

Howard the Quaquaval: The fun thing about humanoid starters is that they're easy to humanize, but the downside is that it also leads to a lot of the designs for said humanizations looking kind of uniform. Hopefully mine stands out a bit more. I did give him top surgery scars, so that's something I guess.

Carmen the Flamigo: Flamigo is a lot harder to humanize, just because it kind of removes the traits that make it so charming (namely, the doofy look on its face). I decided to make her a kickboxer, to emphasize her Fighting-type.

Ogden the Espathra: I wanted Ogden to be Romani, since Espathra appears to be based on a Roma fortune teller. The main issue with that was that he's a male Espathra, and based on my research, traditional male clothing for the Roma don't tend to be as frilly as those of Roma women, and the frills are kind of an important aspect of the Flittle line's identity. I thought about just putting him in a dress (because it's current year, guys can wear dresses if they want) but it still didn't look right. I ended up compromising by sort of blending male and female attire into one, and I also gave him a scarf to represent his long neck. Also, he's a twink XD

BabyBoomer the Titan Bombirdier: The first thing I knew I wanted to do with her was make her look evil (or at least sinister). My main vision for her was either a badass housewife who rules her home with an iron fist or a nurse who you're pretty sure is secretly killing all of her patients. I think I succeeded on at least one of those things.

Storm the Kilowattrel: I immediately knew I wanted her to be a pirate. Frigatebirds, the birds Kilowattrel is based on, are often known as "pirate birds" because of their tendency to plunder food and nesting material from other birds mid-flight. Her wings became her coat, her tail became her bandana and her sword is supposed to partially invoke her beak.

King the Squawkabilly: Finally, we have King. He, like Howard, was easy to make a gijinka of because Squawkabilly wears its inspiration on its sleeve; I made him a 1950s greaser-lookin' guy, with the long jacket, the pompadour, etc. Pretty easy.
