FOTH Bombirdier
Lot of thoughts about this
1) there are lots of standalone bird pokemon this gen huh
2) might use a sharpie on the underside of the tail and feathers because it's hard to do two-tone colors on flat crochet pieces and I know embroidering it is gonna be so Much to get to look right and for some reason it feels less like cheating to use a marker than felt lol
3) wingspans are so hard for me to gauge correctly. Can never tell if the wings are the right proportions or not
4) muttering to self that these are all prototypes they don't gotta be more exact just yet

Have you reviewed Bombirdier?
Bombirdier has a fantastic concept, because GameFreak basically looked at storks and folklore stating they deliver babies to people and were like "yeah but what if it was fucked up and evil and dropped rocks on people", which I respect.
Visually, it's fairly straightforward as far as storks go, but I love the design of the eyes—pitch black and with just the right amount of malice in them. The colors are also good, just simple high-contrast black and white with a few orange accents.
The main feature of the design, and what keeps it from being overly bland, is the distinctive "apron" on the front, which is a clever nod to the blankets storks are often shown carrying babies in. When it's flying, it holds the tip of the apron in its beak to seal the deal.
My only issue with the design is that the execution of the apron feels a little off. It's supposed to be made of "shed feathers", but Bombirdier doesn't have any feathers long enough on its body to use for it. Also, the apron's shape doesn't make it look like feathers at all, instead often coming across as some kind of strange skin flap. I kind of feel like the apron should just be naturally occurring long feathers, like a peacock tail but under the chest, and should've been rendered in a way that reflects it. Still, not a huge deal or anything.
Overall, a really good bird with both a solid design and great premise that radiates terrible vibes (in a good way).

I apologize for being uninformed, but what are baby Bombirdier like? With their reputation and habits I’m curious how they are as hatchlings.
very small and fuzzy at first, but equally inclined to test gravity. by the time they're a week old, they're dropping twigs and small pokemon bones over the side of their nest. a very well-documented behavior in them is actually pretty vicious...the oldest nestling will often pick up the youngest a few days after it hatches and drop it to its death. sibling rivalry can be intense in the pokemon world!
it's really funny to watch them learn to carry things while flying. they do a lot of somersaults while they figure out how to hold their aprons. it also takes them a while to collect enough feathers to make an apron big enough to hold things, so the poor guys pick up more than they can carry!

Some more of them <3
Papavero's team. Bombirdier considered dropping him as a kid 🤧
Their nicknames are:
Purrloin: Cat - Bombirdier: Thing (usually called mom on accident) -Absol: Dog- Murkrow: Bird- Cranidos: Tiny- Purugly: Ugly ahh (affectionate)
Papavero wasnt allowed to have pokemon as a kid, but he usually snuck out to play with a very affectionate Bombirdier. He used to sleep on her apron like an hammock. Nothing changed. She'll be his first poke, later catching the others when taught by Orchidea :p (me giving lore to 3000 Aus and never explaining their og publicly)
