Top 6 Steps of Iron Ore Processing

Iron ore is a type of mineral that is mined from the earth. It is used in a variety of ways, including in the production of steel. However, it can also be a pollutant. When iron ore is exposed to air, it creates rust. This rust can contaminate water and soil and make them unusable. For this reason, it is important to remove iron ore from these areas. After being removed from the mine, iron ore must go through a number of processing steps.
Iron ore processing steps are as follows:
Screening
Stockpiling and Crushing
Feeding the Crusher (Reclaim)
Grinding
Spiral gravity separation
Magnetic division

Jai Balaji Jyoti Steels implements CDE Asia's advanced Mineral Beneficiation Plant for elevating iron ore processing

CDE Asia partners with Jai Balaji Jyoti Steels, a leading private-sector steel manufacturer in Eastern India, to revolutionize iron ore beneficiation in the region.
Jai Balaji Jyoti Steels Limited, a unit of Jai Balaji Group, a trusted name in the steel industry recently installed CDE Asia’s Oremax Multi featuring the Prograde Double-deck rinsing screen with three discharge outlets at Raurkela, Odisha. The plant commissioned in 2021 has a feed capacity of 100 TPH and is designed to increase the grade of iron ore by removing unwanted impurities from raw materials, such as silica, thereby improving the quality of the final product. The inclusion of the Xtrill® lined modular Hydrocyclone for Turbo Dual Wash, along with the Attrition Wash Box (AWB), can significantly enhance the washing quality of the product. The plant operates fully automatically and produces three grades of high-quality products (Fe grade 60+) that are suitable for direct use in the steel industry.
The plant is equipped with a PLC-based automatic system that ensures seamless operations, high productivity, and uninterrupted performance. Its eco-friendly design includes Zero Liquid Discharge technology, which enables the recycling of up to 95% of water.
Prior to implementing CDE Asia’s Iron Ore beneficiation plant, the client had acquired raw materials (58 to 60-grade iron ore) at a high expense from a variety of mines in the Barbil region to replenish raw material stock. The absence of an in-house iron ore beneficiation plant posed a significant challenge in procuring raw materials from the market, leading to inconsistency in the quality of materials and frequent price fluctuations based on their availability. To address this issue, the client decided to invest in their own ore washing plant and awarded the contract for the entire iron ore washing plant to CDE Asia after conducting a comprehensive testing process.
The cutting-edge washing technology by CDE Asia is effectively eliminating all ultra-fines and generating a clean output, which is leading to a longer campaign life in the furnace for the customer. Furthermore, this is decreasing coal consumption during steel production, which positively impacts the economic feasibility of steel-making.
The 100 TPH Oremax Multi in Odisha produces high-quality calibrated lump ore by removing impurities from low-grade ores. The collaboration between Jai Balaji Jyoti Steels and CDE Asia enabled the former to achieve their sustainable mining goals while simultaneously increasing their productivity and profitability.
Mr. Joseph K Thomas, Project In-charge, Jai Balaji Jyoti Steels, says “the decision to choose the CDE Asia system was based on several factors. Firstly, it operates smoothly with minimal dust and noise pollution, ensuring a safe working environment. Secondly, its compact design requires minimal supervision, reducing risks and maximizing resource efficiency. Thirdly, it produces a superior quality product used in DRI. Lastly, after seeing the successful operation of the plant, we are confident with our decision and would definitely recommend this system to others. We are thoroughly impressed with CDE Asia for the successful commissioning of this project and would like to continue working with them in the future as well”.
CDE Asia and Jai Balaji Jyoti Steels champion sustainable steel production through their ground-breaking iron ore beneficiation technology.

success, everybody, i thought about something other than vampires for like a twenty minute stretch. the something was: electric arc furnaces
about 7% of us coal consumption is metallurgical coal, which is used (after being coked) as fuel for blast furnaces. blast furnaces smelt ore and scrap metal, usually to make steel. most coal in the united states is used for the power grid & must be replaced with renewable sources, but it's a little more straightforward to see how that swap needs to go; we need better batteries & genuine investment, there are questions about where & how those renewable sources should be generated, & i do think that our power consumption needs to fall. it's less obvious how we might replace metallurgical coal, though, because we still need steel. electric arc furnaces are efficient, cheaper, smaller, and more capable of running variable loads than blast furnaces, but almost all of them are for the scrap metal -> steel process, they're not for iron ore -> iron -> steel. but we are getting better at making them! so i read through part of a DoE powerpoint & glowered at links to mckinsey reports about it. i don't know anything really about metals mining, mostly i've just read about coal & all of that from a labor safety perspective, but i'm very curious about the, like. engineering problems (and also still labor safety & environmental problems) presented by trying to genuinely transition away from coal, which we absolutely must do, like guys even UMWA is out here like 'we gotta stop pulling this shit out of the ground' [official position of union president cecil roberts is that coal miners & their communities need a robust 'just transition' away from coal, although some of that is just noticing the way the wind is blowing]
#um. idk what i'm doing here. but if you know something about. um. processing iron ore? please tell me about it#us russia australia are the only 3 major exporters of met coal; china produces more but doesn't export. most us met coal is appalachian#but as the demand for standard coal falls producers shift to the met coal market; export prices are roughly double#ofc met coal comes out of smaller seams so higher silicosis risk; & even union miners get screwed cf. warrior met strike (2021-23)

You know, I went into the anime adaptation of the Swordsmith Village Arc knowing it just wasn't going to have the same punch as previous arcs due to the pacing (primarily being a vehicle for flashbacks as opposed to slowly building tension), lack of impactful villains (Hantengu's back story simply does not have the impact or emotional draw of Rui or the Shabana siblings, and Gyokko is... he's just Gyokko), and incomplete-feeling character arcs (this is all set-up for pay-off on Mitsuri, Muichiro, and Genya, whereas Uzui & Rengoku had more satisfying arcs contained within single story arcs).
I knew this, and despite not totally sticking the landing with filler, I think Ufotable did a fine job with the material they had to work with.
I do have one criticism, though.
IT NEEDED MORE SWORDS.
Swords!!! Are!!!!! Beautiful!!!!! And!!!!!! The craftsmen!!!!!!! Are!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!!! And!! Nichirinto!!! Are!!! So!!!! Special!!!!!!
GIVE US MORE SWORD LORE, GOTOUGE!!!!!! GIVE ME ALL YOUR TAISHO SECRETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#SWORDS SWORDS SWORDS#can you tell I've been doing sword research again? I have.#i am just... so enamored with how a mountain of sand and clay and trees and water and so many hours of physical labor are necessary#for even producing the iron ore in the first place#so much fire#SO MUCH FIRE#and THEN the swordsmith works a totally different magic on it#so much patience#SO MUCH FIRE AGAIN#and charcoal is ever-present along the way#It's just#beautiful#I want so badly to know more about the sword sharpening process#to better appreciate Haganezuka's personal battle#there are knife sharpening classes I could sign up for but I don't know that I'll learn stuff applicable to swords#even if Japanese knives do stem from the same traditions

It's so funny to see journalists speaking out on mining supply chains now - particularly being considered experts - on stuff the mining industry has been screaming about for years.
Yeah man, we've been trying to get the USGS and EPA and DoE and DoD to do something about Chinese smelters and supply chain shortages for years. Have fun with that.
#They'll only do something when China starts shutting down its rare earth element REE smelters. And I guaranfuckingtee the#US government will tell the CIA to put a foot on Vietnam's neck or some other SE Asian country and tell them to build smelters.#The government shat a brick two years ago when China floated the idea of not selling REEs to the rest of the world. And now#they're desperately pumping money into resources but not where it actually matters: Processing.#ptxt#mining#If there's one way to get me riled up it's mineral processing and geopolitics and public education.#There's actually a hated mining company that just bought a iron ore mine in the middle of the jungle and it's AWFUL. But if they#didn't buy it the government straight up said they were going to sell it to China and they kind of looked at each other and said#Well if it's going to get mined anyway... I guess we can at least be environmentally friendly about it? Do it right?#But the public doesn't fucking see that. It' SO difficult to understand that this is not a 'don't touch it at all situation' most of the#time. Like we just don't have that option because you don't run the government that's being funded by three nasty people.#So the best you can do is the least worst option. It's Something man. It's Something.

time to learn a little bit about the Yells. i've been writing a few lore posts for a while and instead of continuing to let they grow and fretting over them, i think i'm just going to throw a few out there and try to finish up the rest this week.
The Yells
Despite their imposing size, strange behaviors, and mysterious keepers, the Signallusc (or The Yells as most rabbits call them) are considered just another part of the island landscape. These towering faux trees serve as the island version of radio towers, and make all radio communication above and below ground possible.
Though the 2 largest of the naturally formed Yells are still upright and active (and heavily protected so that their natural life cycle can be properly studied), these days rabbits prefer to cultivate the towers so that they don’t grow in problematic areas or do…other things.
Wild or free growth Yells make their homes in dead rotting wood as natural decomposers, and many live out their lives as simple slime molds (or as simple as any slime mold can be). Certain conditions must be met to trigger the drastic color change and vertical growth that make them viable for communication use, and so wild Yells are usually found growing in small clusters in or around the resources they need to sustain their new forms. Dead trees or stumps with roots still in the ground are prime hosts for these slime molds and they’re actually seen as beneficial since they stabilize potentially dangerous dead trees and kill diseases or especially destructive insects that might harm surrounding living trees. Once inside these dead trees the slime mold eats them from the inside out, taking the branches first, and then devouring the mass from the top down.
Compared to other slime molds they can handle direct sunlight quite well, but wild yells still tend to favor hosts in shady areas and from the way these trees are devoured they seem to try and keep some sort of shell around them for as long as possible. This wooden shell not only serves as food, but also gives the growing Yell a moist, dark, home until its outer membrane is thick and strong enough to handle being constantly exposed. When wild Yells “die”, it’s usually because they’ve run out of host tree long ago, and have stiffened into a rigid structure that eventually cracks (usually due to being struck by lightning) and crumbles, releasing clouds of spores. The remains of a Yell dissolve in the first rain after they fall and tend to leave the area around the strange lotus pod-ish pit in the ground where “roots” used to be spotless, but smelling very metallic with a hint of foulness. Almost like not so fresh blood.
Through the observations recorded by island botanists and the specific botanical sect known as the Antenna, rabbits (and hares, as they were the first to investigate and made great strides in understanding the process before they left the island en masse) have learned exactly what triggers Yell vertical growth and have used this knowledge to cultivate Yells quite successfully. A combination of owl feathers, metal ore (mainly bog iron), charcoal sticks and or ash (best if created by lightning strike, wood preferred but animal remains like burned out hawks are perfectly acceptable), and a little starter wood are fed to the slime mold, and after it’s broken everything down it begins its transformation. It is then introduced to a host plant sprout, a type of fast growing, woody, creeping vine in the Grasp family bred specifically for this purpose (wild cultivars work fine but they’re half as hardy and the bond has a greater chance of triggering very upsetting mutations. These are different from the upsetting mutations, which are fine and harmless). From then on the slime mold seems to guide the host plant’s growth, forming a shell from the vines that is constantly growing and shedding. This serves as both a home and an ample food source.
The botany world is torn on whether this forms a mutualistic symbiotic relationship or whether it’s straight up parasitism. And yes, plant nerd blood has been spilled over this argument. Not a ton of blood, it’s not like this is the great lichen wars, but still.
The Antenna
All yell care-taking is done by the Antenna sect. This is a mysterious group of witchy botanists and engineers who, like the previously referred to upsetting mutations, are harmless despite their entire vibe. Well. Harmless enough for botanists anyway.
Not a lot is known about them by the general public but they keep things working smoothly and show up quickly when something isn’t.
Members of this sect haven’t had a set “look” or uniform for about a generation and a half due to the ending of a lot of the the founding member’s bloodlines, but each Yell site has it’s own culture that attracts certain kinds of people. Despite their differences, there are a few things that make Antennae easier to pick out of a crowd if you know what to look for. The skin of their inner ears develop thin branching markings or wave-like ripples depending on how they interact with Yells. Some have obvious hare ancestry and sport roughly branching horns that grow quite long and shed every year (these shed horns are fed to the Yells). Newer members wear a lot of lightweight ear jewelry to help pick up important signals and behavioral quirks from the Yells, but the longer they stay in the Antenna the less tolerant they are of this. Things get…loud. Behind their eyes. Inside their teeth. Seasoned members usually can’t stand wearing any metal jewelry at all. The head botanist of one of the most remote Yells wears ear plugs almost 24/7 because of left behind shrapnel from an accident in his youth.
He is deaf.
He says he’s not really blocking anything out, just sorting it properly.
No one really knows what he means. It’s fine.

The Peaks Resound, Golden Veins Gleaming

"Hey there, Xilonen! So, about the sunglasses you made me last time... Got a couple of details I'd like to adjust, especially with the temple tip patterning... Hmm? Where'd she go? It's not even time for her lunch break yet... Hey! Xilonen! You there? C'mon, let's go over the particulars of the glasses manufacturing process again—"
—Thus exclaimed Mavuika at a high volume in front of Xilonen's workshop
◆ Xilonen
◆ Ardent Flames Forge the Soul
◆ Nanatzcayan Smith
◆ Vision: Geo
◆ Constellation: Panthera Ocelota

Xilonen's skill with the forge is renowned throughout Natlan.
Many come from far and wide to pay homage to her superb skill. Some hope to commission her to forge them weapons, while others only seek to see the visage of this great smith, such that they might have information of great interest to talk about.
But Xilonen couldn't care less about what all her customers are thinking. No matter what kind of ridiculous, fancy titles others give her, before all the honors and accolades, she is first and foremost an artisan. All she need do is refine the ore, and surely and steadfastly hammer it into its final shape one blow at a time, in accordance with the customer's requirements.
Reputation will not strengthen the blows of her hammer upon the anvil, nor will slander cool the coals of her furnace.
However, when a customer steps into her workshop, it is not the heat of the furnace that welcomes them, but rather a long form filled with blanks needing to be filled in.
"I'm happy to take the commission. But first, we need to iron out the details."
"Effective communication means efficient work. Come on, let's talk about just what you want."
