I really dislike it when people make wei wuxian dumb in fanfics just so other characters seem smarter
Ofc it's fanfiction so it doesn't really matter and I firmly believe anyone is allowed to write even the most ooc bs ever because that's what fanfics are for, to do whatever the hell you want, so that's a slight to no one and just me putting my thoughts out there
So yeah, I'm not saying wei wuxian has to be the smartest, the genius and the prodigy, especially if it's not about him, but he IS very intelligent and making him act stupid and not in a playful way but in serious situations where he is making things worse or depending on others to explain obvious things to him is really weird and feels as if an author either didn't understand his character or just doesn't like him
And again, it's weird for me bc all the time I'm saying that fanfics are for writing whatever you wish but at the same time... sometimes I just want to complain a bit about things I hate 😅

every1 that voted rinne as worst husband is so wrong... its literally canon that he cares SO much and fakes his insane persona hes just awkward and embarassed when he gets noticed
i have so many things i can say about this but im really bad at words but theyre stewing around in my brain explodes
what were your thoughts?
i do agree with the ones that mention niki haha those are true rinne is absolutely smitten but the ones that say its like. because hes rinne amagi. and others thay were probably filtered out by the OP... people that either didnt read the main story or just dont want to look further lmao
(cracking my fingers) okay. this may or may not be long. i fear you have struck a bit of a nerve with this (NOT YOU but just as like. a general statement. i feel like u dont know what ur asking. but that is ok)
this whole thing might seem really aggressive at times bc this situation did get me a little heated... plz keep that in mind going in! AGAIN IM NOT ANGRY AT YOU ANON ILY AND THANK YOU FOR ASKING you just happened to ask abt smth i feel very sourly about – not the poll itself but the answers to it – but i tried to be as. tactful as i possibly can while talking abt this
overall im very disappointed in a lot of the answers given for the voting so ive stayed off twitter almost all day today and yesterday. i fear like with stuff like this a very silent population of eng side shines through, the one that specifically Doesnt actually engage with the story and goes off fanon interpretation. look, im not saying its necessarily a bad thing. but when it comes to stuff like this, where people grossly mischaracterize a grand majority of charas or narrow them down to be the butt of a joke, or use it as an excuse to be plain racist/ableist, i feel like people really need to reassess where all of this is coming from. like. not rinne, but KANAME couldnt even be included because the answers used for his votes were, in their majority, apparently ableist, and op (definitely in the right, i think this was the right choice to make) chose not to post at all because they feared the qrts would be just as bad. because for some reason people seem to think that because they're fictional characters that being ableist is somehow ok, that saying they would "pull the plug" on charas like him and eichi is fine because theyre not real people – as if there werent disabled or chronically ill people in this fandom, in every fandom, or hell, around you?
and lets not mention tatsumi and people blatantly misinterpreting his christianity as something he would force upon others – first of all, western christianity does not apply to tatsumi. at all. i understand that people might find it easy to just associate him with that and make "haha, he would make me convert" or "haha he would be a homophobe" quips, and obviously its not necessary to have extensive knowledge on kirishitan history in japan and how they are, to this day, a minority that was persecuted for a lot of japan's modern history. LIKE, EVEN FROM HIS DIALOGUE IN ANY STORY.. when has he given off that impression? cite your sources, he's literally one of the most inclusive and accepting charas in the whole cast! not a prejudiced white christian middle aged mom...
i think that if you absolutely must reduce a character to tasteless jokes, stereotypes that arent even funny to begin with, and you refuse to even read the source content at all to correct yourself, you really need to think about how you engage with any media, not just enstars. if you want to look at the pretty characters just say that! but dont be like this, and don’t speak on things you don’t fully understand as if you did just to make a point or be funny!
OKAY RINNE SORRY LOL i hate it. i hated all of it and judging by the ratio many people seemed to dislike it as well (god bless!). if you havent seen it i wont link it bc tbf i dont feel like looking at it again (peace and love) but the answers summed up are like "oh he would steal my money" "hes selfish and would take stuff from me and not gaf about my wellbeing" "hes married to niki already" the last one being the only one i agree with. and it makes me think about a lot of issues with how a good portion of the fandom sees rinne. ive seen a lot of people read rinne in bad faith, regardless of whether theyve read main story, hot limit or any story rinne is in. and i dont get it, genuinely. YES he can be upsetting! he can be an asshole, he can be rude, he DOES steal money from niki! but these people neglect to see or mention that he gives it back and then some. they fail to talk about how he spends a lot of his time trying to make niki see his self worth!! since hiiro was BORN he's been trying to get him to understand that he's deserving of love!! that YES he can be a dick but ultimately treats crazy:b and his friends with love and wants what's best for them! these are the same ppl that think he's abusive or something idk i can only assume. like yeah rinne has a carefully crafted persona where hes a complete dickhead and ig some players cant really bother to see past that act
unfortunately rinne himself is built on a few harmful stereotypes of ainu culture irt the drinking, being portrayed or viewed as more 'uncouth' by other characters, etc which is why the initial more explicit ties to ainu culture were removed altogether from his and hiiros design and background. it is understandable, which is for example why it's not really my place to say whether he can be interpreted as ainu or not, and even so, i try not to rely on those aspects of him because it still veers into sensitive territory. and its an unfortunate part of his character, but undeniably, rinne amagi DOES drink, (he's one of the only characters in main cast of drinking age anyway) does partake in harmful behaviors, but fsr suddenly that means hes nothing but a drunkard, to a lot of people. when reading rinne you really have to take these things and ofc, consider that theyre relevant to his character, but it's not all there is...? in the slightest..? there used to be a tweet thread explaining this link further but it's either been taken down or the account has been locked. either way, just a bit of googling goes a long way. i'd rather not go into too much detail here because i don't feel informed enough beyond pointing these issues out, and i personally feel like it's not really my place. if anybody wants to add onto this post to cite more specific sources please feel free
he's such a fun loving, cunning, caring guy who helps people get jobs (dance of the white tiger), who volunteers to play with kids at a daycare (asobi), and wishes so badly to become an idol and grant everyone the same opportunities if theyd like to be, as well (main story, sudden death SUDDEN DEATH IS MY FAV STORY AFTER HL BUT THE TL IS DOWN....SORRY. but i really really think it's one of the most important ones when it comes to rinne's character and motivations. also if u can read it in app it's even better bc it's voiced and theres a line where he's like "oh this guy's [niki] is engaged to me" when talking to kohaku's sister AND HE SOUNDS FULLY SERIOUS TOO....)
don't get me started on people who dumb him down as if he wasn't one of the most clever characters in the game. and unknowingly, people that continue to make rinne's character out to simply be a gambling flirty drunkard who doesn't know how to control himself, as if there weren't other facets of him – they lean into stereotypes, bordering on racism, even if its not malicious or theyre not aware. and it makes me so sad. a lot of the time these interpretations are spread around and then liking characters like him becomes some sort of moral debate, esp in current fandom (which is one of the reasons i think this stereotyping? happens? b/c ive found that fandom sometimes has the tendency of grabbing characters and mischaracterizing them so BADLY that liking them makes you a bad person..? not necessarily villains either! i promise it's okay to just dislike characters without making stuff up!)
that aside also suggesting he'd be an awful, neglectful spouse is simply incorrect. i very firmly believe that if rinne is devoted, he will drop every vice, every pretense, to make the other person happy. he's Like That in the story and towards niki because they keep tiptoeing around the subject but the second he gets an inner monologue, or is truly being genuine, you can tell he would do anything for him, if niki would just let him. to say that rinne isn't capable of being a good partner because he'll treat you badly or not care about you just proves to me that you're not reading any scene he is actually in. if rinne loves you, romantic or not, he will go big or go home. read hot limit btw
im not about to pull the story caps out no wait yes i am lol rinniki4ever ✌️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these arent in order bc i had to scroll up like 2k pictures because i take caps of this game every time i blink. i was considering adding hiiro caps, to show his dedication to him as well, but given that this is for like a marriage poll id rather not. either way he cares about his family and loved ones a lot. read chapter 155 if you want to know the exact scene i was thinking about/referring to while typing this
um ok (breathes out) im fine now. theres things i didnt address because it's 1 am and i want to go to sleep. congrats kuro on getting #1 most marriageable tho u deserve it KURO NUMERO 1 CAMPEAO DO MUNDO 💯💯💯🔥

pls elaborate on arthur and ludwig being misinterpreted!!! bcos we might agree on some things 😼 love ur writing n ur energy soo much :*
hello anon my beloved! sorry i was grocery shopping when i saw this 😭 thank you so much for saying you love my writing and energy that's very sweet 🥺 i'm trying to crank out this mf easter chapter and update my main WIPs!!
hmmm this is a brilliant question and i appreciate this opportunity so much bc HOOOO boy do i have Things to say about Arthur Kirkland. but it's also difficult bc i might be controversial here. like i fully expect to be taken to the stakes. also, i'm not much of a ludwig expert but i will make an attempt. disclaimer, these are my personal opinions and everyone is entitled to their own. also i don't mean to sound angry here, just passionate!!
so i was here MANY years ago. Artie here is kinda my main man, and i have strong opinions on him. and let me start by acknowledging that in canon, everyone is depicted pretty twinky or a twunk at best. i mean, it's an anime. that being said, there are many different fanon interpretations, but in my opinion there doesn't seem to be enough variation on Arthur/England's character. Blanket Statement Warning; Arthur woobifiers lack nuance. simply put, i find that he's often needlessly feminized, and i could not agree with this less.
i'm not glorifying colonization, but presenting a simple fact; he represents one of the most powerful nations/empires on earth. i believe he is and should be allowed to be masculine. yes, he can be a catty bitch. and no, in general, at least in canon, he is not the most macho guy on earth. (do i have overtly macho characterizations? yes, for example, when he's a punk. i write him several different ways!) but my point stands that this is a grown ass man. we need to allow him to look like one; have broad shoulders and a bit of hair on his chest. i cannot believe this is controversial to say.
i can't really see him as feminine whatsoever, and i don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but i don't understand why this portrayal is so popular. i can't see him as a "mother", or presenting femininely, or being receptive in the bedroom. to me, he's Grandpa. he's a grumpy old man. and a rat bastard. he's a ruthless pirate captain. he can also be Just Some Guy, a posh gentleman, a stern and doting father, or a feral forest imp. whether or not he's particularly "nice" (i have written him as a nice guy as well!) he's a control freak with a hot temper, but a stiff upper lip. he's very guarded, invulnerable, and possessive. his personality is an inherently dominant one. even at his most raw, even with that prickly shell stripped away and showing his most genuine emotions, he's a strong and proud man.
i also would go so far as to say macho-ness and femininity are misunderstood concepts themselves on this Hell Site. but i digress.
now, as is evident, Ludwig is a deeply repressed man. i haven't written much of him nor are my opinions very strong, but he's such a classic character, and GerIta has a special place in my heart. correct me if i'm wrong, and i do notice that the fanon interpretation is indeed changing, but overall i recall him being interpreted as a very one dimensional, mean, cold, loud, and bossy killjoy. is this warranted, because he's like this on the outside? perhaps.
Ludwig strikes me as the sort of lad who has been forced into a certain role of rigid stoicism to the point where he loses himself in the process. he is an order follower, an authority pleaser, in the worst of ways. in the context of WW2 era Germany, he strives to be a image of perfection, of rugged, propagandized masculinity. he's certainly a man, and a big one at that. i'm not denying that, he's definitely a dominant figure! but he hides his vulnerability because he believes he's not allowed to feel emotions or enjoy anything outside of the prescribed perception.
does Luddy himself have a sweet side? totally. he yearns to let his guard down. he longs to give love. was Germany (the third reich, you all know what i mean) ruthless, disgusting and evil at the time? absolutely, and we should not make light of that. does he have anger issues? maybe not as much as it might seem. i believe at his core, he wants to be gentle. he needs to learn how.
thank you again for the ask, and if you read this long. i do hope this clarifies things. my inbox is open for any further questions. haters to the left please 💖💅

Release the Harpocrates!George analysis??
😳👉👈
OOOOOH ANON U HAVE UNLEASHED THE FLOOD GATES YES. YES I SHALL.
im kinda copy-pasting this from google docs so sorry if any formatting fucks up, and its incredibly selfserving and specific in an attempt to find any and all possible links (do i really believe that they investigated this hard into the mythology? no. would this still be cool as shit? yes!)
so anyway disclaimer i am no mythology historian so if any of this is wrong uh...... artistic license.?. also its kinda long. sorry in advance lmao
okay so harpocrates is a greek interpretation of horus (the ancient egyptian god of the sun). hes the greek god of silence/secrets, but the greeks sorta misinterpreted the egyptian symbol for child (because horus was often depicted as a child/child god) as a symbol for silence, and i kind of relate this to fanon mis/interpretations of georges character being naive (''Naive and weak, George usually doesn't know what to do'' via dsmp wiki.) when he's just as much a seasoned warrior as the others, he just doesnt get involved with it much.
additional meanings/symbols of harpocrates is that he was ‘the distant one’ or ‘the one who is above’, which i think relates directly to georges apathy (regardless of its fanon or canon misinterpretations). also possibly something about his developing relationship with dreamxd & his developing lore to being /more than/ human so to say.
so if we accept that george really IS harpocrates, there are several links - and here is where it becomes distinctly intricate in an attempt to find as many similarities as possible, and youll have to forgive me for it - one may draw between harpocrates, george, and their symbolism.
like that Horus is the form of the first sun, and george is one of the founding members of DSMP.
harpocrates is commonly represented by a sheaf of corn. George was desperate to get back to his wheat farming during the loreman streams
bad told george in those streams to 'ask the sky' if he should take bad's items' when dreamxd killed him. horus>sun god>the sun & moon are commonly referred to as his eyes. this could also be some sort of hint to dreamxd being an omniscient sort of being tho. or both. who knows
Harpocrates (at least, his egyptian form as the young horus) was often depicted on a lotus flower. Lotus flower symbolism seems incredibly relevant to DSMP. they symbolise purity (innocence, childishness, naivety; bad referred to his items as ‘infected’, and george has never been to visit the egg - perhaps he’s pure of it?), enlightenment (there is a lot of emphasis and continued references to knowledge, curiosity, and ‘knowing the truth’. Karl, dream, quackity, and fundy seem to currently be the main purveyors of this and ¾ of them have relations to george), self regeneration and rebirth (resurrection book).
like idk maybe its a huge reach (probably is tbh) but theres a lot of underlying symbolism???
lotus flowers are also used as symbols of the union of higher/lower egypt and the union of two kingdoms, which makes me think of, like, the inbetween and the other-side, or life/death, and sleep/awake, greater dsmp/lmanberg, i could probably go on.
in egyptian mythology, young horus’s parents were osiris (the god of the underworld/death) and isis (goddess of death/magic/healing). There are a few moments where george tries to make amends/healings (like telling dreamxd to apologise after being excessively violent, ‘we’ll make amends’ in his lorestream). also (this part is bullshit and selfserving because i just think its cool) but wilbur playing loreman, being georges dad, and wilburs canonical character being an omen of death and destruction and the fact that (young) horus’s father was osiris.
the fact that egyptian pharoahs were seen as reincarnations of horus to the king george arc but maybe this is pushing it a bit (as if the rest of it hasnt been)
SO. horus is commonly depicted with a falcon or a sparrowhawk head. falcons symbolise freedom and victory, and were also often related to war gods in egypt. Spiritually, a falcon symbolises wisdom and protection (again, another mention to knowledge/wisdom, and george is presumably desperate for protection as seen in his desperation for netherite armour from dreamXD). Sparrowhawks symbolise the need to tap into a warrior at any time; like george calling/inviting dreamXD to the SMP whenever he's online which im fairly sure was discussed in georges lore stream too?
also roses are sometimes symbolic of harpocrates. they are sometimes used to show guests that any topic discussed in the room receiving them is not to be repeated or discussed elsewhere: where have we seen roses recently? the syndicate. (also the in-between and the quackity art, if you want to pull it into other lore avenues. All of these thrive on secrecy; karl keeping his time travel a secret; the syndicate remaining secret; and quackity not telling anyone about much of what goes on las nevadas/his prison visits with dream).
anyway: this was like all just for fun and i dont think it’s going to come true at all, it would just be cool as anything :> apologies again if any of my facts are wrong im just trying to tie knots in the lore with wet spaghetti
also a lot of this was aided by help from @insert-cleverurl bc we spent like. a while brainrotting this on discord. :D maybe one day ill make more lore theory/analysis posts because i have a cool dream/dreamxd one bubbling away

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
oh, it's actually hard to answer bc pretty often my otps can work as brotps for me as well. it also means that when i can't ship some characters they don't work for me as friends either. not to mention that in asoiaf i'm open to many ships, and if i'm not very passionate about some it's not a sign i can't see them in romantic light.
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
may i say any sansa ship? 😭 as well as sansa herself lmao. idk generally i can't ship characters i don't like because i'm just not interested. and it's not to say i don't like book!sansa (show!sansa is another case 💀), i just don't find her arc as intriguing and epic as arcs of some other characters. however, it's absolutely her obnoxious fandom's fault that i don't want to touch anything about her now, pairings including. sansaery? pass. sansan? i used to have a soft spot for them in my heart but now? nah. sansa x anyone? pls have mercy, she's already a fandom bicycle.
and jonsa ofc. i would never mind some crack ship as i do this one if not for their obnoxious stans that did way too much to list there right now. but this burning desire to persuade every rock on the street that your crack ship is canon will never stop being ridiculous lmao
also braime. tbh i used to low-key like them but some of their stans weirded my away lol. i get that not all of them are like that but still. it's generally my great pain when i see braime/brienne/jaime stans who are also dany/targ antis. every time i see them i cackle and run away as fast as i can crying from disappointment lmao. it's really a pity because i'm either very neutral or like in my own way all three of them.
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
jonrya it is! i never hated them, you know, but they never were more than siblings and brotp to me. however, later i encountered the deluded crack ship fandom that shall not be named and understood that if there is any possible romance for jon with any of his sisters-cousins we all know which one it will be lmao. also their stans are very sweet and i really like many of their takes on arya and jon! i generally love relationships of jon and arya very much so it wasn't that difficult in practice to see them in a quite different light.
7. Is there anything you used to like but can't stand now?
meta culture lmao. reading different analysis and interpretations of the text used to be very interesting to me (and still is tbh but in other fandoms) though asoiaf is a different case. imo many people aren't honest in their so called theories and analyses. i get that all of us are biased but some "meta writers'" denial of their own biases influence fandom in a bad way. it looks like too many people run to them to get answers to their questions about any minor detail as if they were grrm himself. yk instead of using their own reading comprehension lmao. you see how this meta culture ruined fandom just looking at the most delusional stans and shippers who spread their agenda by writing endless text posts full of nonsense and bullshit but styled as oh so intellectual and thoughtful analysis. it's insane how many people actually buy it and don't check canon accuracy of such claims themselves. it got to the ridiculous point when random people try to argue with you with some far-fetched embarrassing "theories" as if they were canon facts or quotes straight up from a fanfic because they read somewhere some other confused soul's post and got from a context that this quote is canon (despite the fact that it wasn't written in grrm's style at all but some people can't use their brains even if their lives depended on it it seems).
anyway it's become too long and rambly already so tldr. because of such "neutral unbiased" analyses i got the habit of fact checking almost everything i see in such posts. there's only a small amount of meta writers from targ/dany/jon/arya stans that i trust because i know by practice and following them for some time that they don't pull anything out of nowhere, back up everything they say with canon quotes, don't decontextualize anything and (that is the most important thing to me) are reasonable and open to discussion unlike so many bnfs nowadays.
8. Have you received anon hate? What about?
ah, not in this fandom yet, god bless! i think i'm not loud enough for the needed amount of time to deserve it lol. but since i'm not going anywhere soon maybe one day i will 😂
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
robert baratheon and tywin lannister, obviously. tbh it's pretty hard for me to hate any characters because you know. they're fictional lmao. just lines on paper, they can't hurt you. and even such dudes as tywin or robert don't get real distaste from me if they're written well enough. my problem with them lies not only in their canon crimes and shitty consequences of those but in fandom's (or at least some parts of it) unwillingness to acknowledge that they're canonically written as shitty, not as stan/pity/worship material. tywin isn't as clever as some think and robert is a coward outside of battlefield, not to mention some absolutely disgusting denial of his nature from targ antis only because the man happened to be the most vocal targ hater in-universe so these folks feel like he is their main book representative and whitewash him completely lmao
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
uugh idk even. i'm either low-key interested (or used to be at least so i can stay pretty neutral for the sake of nostalgia lol) or too indifferent to really care.
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn't? Why?
all my faves have their own crowd of haters i'm afraid 😭 but let me say rhaegar. even among some dany/targ stans my man is so misunderstood lmao. it's not even his fault i dare say it's fanon about his half-imagined crimes that somehow got widespread to the unbelievable degree. and when i say they're half-imagined i'm being very generous actually. ofc he isn't perfect, no one in asoiaf is. and yes, he's a pre-series dead minor character but almost all little information about him is actually positive, not to mention the narrative itself that doesn't paint him as a villain or just a shitty dude. on the contrary, he's an idealized to some degree dead prince who could've been a good king (like some other historical targaryens, jacaerys, baelor breakspear, aemon son of jaehaerys, etc.), a mysterious yet tragic figure. i have much to say about why it's so popular to shit on him in fandom but yeah. his haters should send their complaints to grrm instead, no one forced the man to write him like that lol. and i mean that no one has to like him ofc. but it's misinterpretation of the text to claim he was intentionally written as a villain or smth by grrm.
12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn't? Why?
i don't know if it counts as unpopular but i would say tyrion's arc as a whole because i enjoy his character and like in my own way. i can get why some people don't like him but this man will always have his own place in my heart i must admit.
13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
is this unpopular tho?.. ok but renly wouldn't make a terrible king. i dare say he would be better than both robert and stannis. yes, he wasn't shown as perfect and i don't claim this. he wouldn't be the best or the most brilliant or the most just or noble. yet still better than his brothers. his flaws weren't anything other high lords didn't have, his mistakes weren't anything other lords and kings didn't do. in many ways he would make a better job than robert or stannis, too bad he died so early, even though i get why it was important for the narrative.
26. Most shippable character?
well generally for me it's the ones i love the most lol. jonerys/snowstorm is my never dying otp but i admit my sins, sometimes i just see dany with other characters (often from other fandoms pls don't @ me). however, since dany is THE fave of mine it means i would rather twist the other guy or girl to fit into the good match for her than twist her for another character in my new born crack ship lol. and i never stay for too long with the ships with which i feel they don't really fit and don't do justice for each other lol. maybe that's the reason i'm not much of a rare shipper / crack shipper afshdjdb
27. Least shippable character?
everyone i don't like? 😭 as i've said sansa for the reasons above lol. you can insert many others in her place lmao

i had a thought about bnha fandom stuff and accidentally rambled oops
i think one of my biggest issues with bnha fandom (besides it being overwhelmingly white, which is my main issue with all fandoms at this point) is that, more than any other fandom i’ve seen, they are the most dedicated to sticking characters into a specific box and being resistant to any way they may grow or change outside of that, or even to how the characters textually do not fit into that box in the first place.
like, the most obvious example is the dedication to ‘uwu gentle soft boy’ deku, when midoriya canonically thinks all problems you can’t talk out can be solved if you punch it enough. he’s stubborn, reckless, and literally cannot mind his own business.
and then there’s they way people completely misinterpret his relationship with bakugo, even post-deku vs kacchan part 2. like, how many times can characters comment on them being two sides of the same coin, two halves of a whole, twin stars, before you realize that their relationship is an incredibly important part of the story? people like to trot out bakugo telling midoriya to jump off a roof and hope for a quirk in his next life as, like, the big gotcha but midoriya didn’t even react as strongly to that as his fans did. he literally told bakugo not to say things like that because bakugo could get in trouble.
i’m not even going to touch the other ways people misinterpret bakugo, because i feel like i’ve talked about that a lot, but the one thing that always comes to mind is that one person i saw who had a ‘do not interact/follow if you like bakugo’ note, but also said dabi was one of their favorite characters (i wonder how they’re doing after the latest chapters tbh)
and speaking of dabi, there are a lot of people who were mad about the latest chapters making the villain do villain things bc they were so attached to the fanon version of the character and didn’t like they way canon was (and always had tbh) contradicted that interpretation.
and, like, honestly.... i like endeavor. i like what horikoshi is attempting with him, even if i am a bit... unsure about some of the ways its been handled. do i think everyone has to like him? no, but i think some fans take their hate for him to the absolute extreme in ways that are completely unnecessary and, honestly, kind of gross sometimes?
and, like, all of this is coming from someone that was involved in bioware fandoms, but at least those character interpretations could be assumed to be based on the different ways people were playing the games/which characters they were gaining friendship with or w/e. when it comes to bnha i just sometimes feel like people are somehow watching/reading a completely different series than i am

What was the s3 theory on how COL was going to be beaten w/o Bell & w/ L as the hero? I only joined the fandom in the past 7 mo. so I haven't experienced all the past shipwar nonsense. I'm really curious to just how so many ppl misinterpreted the text so badly. Hell, where does C fit into this theory where L is the hero over her? Did she decide to just sit this one out? How does a side character have more license to save the day over main characters? Were BC never supposed to be reunited? How?
I don’t actually remember the actual theory, because so many were going around. But yeah. Not just CL but Bellarkers believed that L was the hero of they story now. HUGE respected meta writers said it was OBVIOUS that L was the hero. (still say it)
And I’m going, but, no she’s not, it’s CLARKE’S story, and L is keeping her from moving forward in her story, so even though she’s the love interest she is THE ANTAGONIST.
They looked at L as the HERO, Clarke as the girlfriend love interest, the grounders as the protagonists, the sky people as the antagonists and Bellamy, in specific as the villain.
And it wasn’t just the CLs that adopted that concept. Bellarkers ALSO said that the writers were villainizing Bellamy. And I’m like, but no, he’s being torn between Pike and Kane, he will choose to do the right thing (and he did.)
You can still see people sticking to the same theory today, but now they say it was bad writing that made things UNCLEAR about Bellamy’s motivation (it wasn’t,) and turned Clarke into a passive follower for the heroic L (it’s called dysfunction, ptsd, trauma, and was part of her journey.)
In the theory where L was the hero, they basically had L as the main hero, so taking Clarke’s place, and Clarke as the love interest-secondary hero, so taking Bellamy’s place. They saved the world together. I wish I could remember if they got it right except for who’s story it was, but when she refused to address such a major part of the story, I stopped paying attention to her meta, because HUGE blind spot.
They did NOT think BC was important. Not even as a platonic best friend at this point, although now, that’s the story. He was A VILLAIN. They were okay with him in Mount Weather where he did his mission, but nope. Not partners. They did NOT think getting Bellarke back together was important. They did NOT think Clarke should return to her people. Her people were THE OBSTACLE. They called them “sky rats.” They thought Clarke was HAPPY in Polis, not in hiding or separated from herself or traumatized. They did not recognize that L had done ANYTHING wrong to Clarke or the skypeople, but everything she did was good because she said it was.
L was their focus and that’s who they cared about. Some viewers only came in to the show because they heard of CL, and they didn’t watch any episodes before L arrived. Some just ignored everything that didn’t lead to their ship and fave and that meant they were ignoring, at that point 75% of the show.
They just. Ignored. It. And they filled in the blanks with heroic Lxa fanon, and created a mythology around CL that had NOTHING to do with The 100 and everything to do with the kind of wlw stories they needed, and weren’t getting. This was so close to being their lesbian warrior queen romantic fantasy, so they just ignored everything that didn’t fit that interpretation. And then they attacked anyone who pointed out the CANON story that had Clarke as hero, Bellamy as second hero, the delinquents as protagonists and L herself as an antagonist/love interest. Making it so no one could interpret it in ANY other way, because they came after you en masse, as a holy war. Lxa was their goddess.
It was the worst.
