A look At Team India's Form, Top Performances, Key Talking Points Ahead Of T20 WC
Despite the talks around strike rate and lack of great pace bowling options, Team India is heading into the ICC T20 World Cup starting from June 1 with the most series wins and fine performances under their belt.
India will start their T20 World Cup campaign on June 5 against Ireland at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Here is a look at Men in Blue's form and statistics, since their T20 WC semifinal loss to England by 10 wickets in November 2022, ahead of the campaign:
-India tour of New Zealand (2022)
India won the rain-effected three-match T20I series under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya by 1-0, with the highlight being a knock of 111* in 51 balls by Suryakumar Yadav in the second T20I and four-wicket hauls by Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj in the third rain-affected T20I.
-Sri Lanka tour of India (January 2023)
India won this three-match T20I series by 2-1 to kickstart the home season with a bang. The highlight of this series was once again, a knock of 112* in 51 balls by Suryakumar in the third T20I and some fine all-round performances by Axar Patel.
-New Zealand tour of India (January-February 2023)
Yet another fine series win for India by 2-1, coming back after being 1-0 down in the series. The highlight of this series was a fine 126* in 63 balls by Shubman Gill, the batters' first T20I century in the third T20I and a fine show by Indian pacers that skittled NZ out for just 66 in pursuit of 235 run target set after Gill's ton, including Hardik Pandya's four-wicket-haul.
-India tour of West Indies (July-August 2023)
This is the only blip in India's T20I resume after the T20 WC. After securing the Test and ODI series, India was expected to win the T20I series as well, with a young Team India around. However, West Indies players fought really well in what was a tight, back-and-forth series to win it 3-2, winning the fifth and decider T20I match.
A major taking point of this series was the emergence of Tilak Varma, who batted with maturity and elegance beyond his age, top scoring for India with 173 runs in five matches at an average of 57.67, with a half-century.
-India tour of Ireland (August 2023)
This series served as pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah's comeback to the national side after battling injuries and he was appointed as a captain of a young Indian side in the absence of Hardik Pandya. India won the series 2-0. This series saw the international debut of India's newest finisher and sensation, Rinku Singh.
-Asian Games Hangzhou (September 2023)
India secured a gold medal at the event, winning the gold on the basis of their seeding as their final with Afghanistan did not go further due to rain. A 49-ball century by Yashasvi Jaiswal was the big highlight from the competition.
-Australia tour of India (November-December 2023)
The series was conducted after India's loss to Australia in the World Cup finals, with both teams fielding a young side, with the main squads being rested after the tournament. India won the series 4-1, with some fine performances from youngsters like Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, skipper Suryakumar Yadav etc. Gaikwad was the top run-scorer for India, with 223 runs in five matches with a century and fifty. Spinners Ravi Bishnoi (9 wickets) and Axar Patel (6 wickets) also delivered some fine performances.
-India tour of South Africa (December 2023)
Team India travelled to South Africa under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav. The series ended with a 1-1 draw as one match could not be played due to rain. A fine 68 by Rinku Singh in the first T20I and a fourth T20I century by Surya in the second T20I along with a five-wicket haul from Kuldeep Yadav were major highlights, performance-wise.
-Afghanistan tour of India (January 2023)
Afghanistan's first international series against India marked the return of veterans Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma to the T20Is after the team's loss in the 2022 WC semis. India won the series 3-0. The highlights of the series were twin half-centuries from Shivam Dube, a scorching fifth T20I century by Rohit, a knock of 121* in 69 balls, with 11 fours and eight sixes in the final game, some stunning fielding by Virat and a cameo of 29 in 16 balls that displayed his new, attacking attitude.
Some talking points for India heading into the tournament:
-Red-hot form of Virat Kohli (741 runs in 15 games), Jasprit Bumrah (20 wickets in 13 matches) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the rise in former's strike rate and six-hitting being a big highlight.
-Poor form of all-rounder Hardik Pandya (216 runs and 11 wickets in 14 games) in the IPL and diminishing of his finishing/six-hitting abilities
-Skipper Rohit Sharma's (417 runs in 14 games) disappointing strike rate of just 127.84 against spin in IPL 2024 and six dismissals in the tournament. He also had a very inconsistent run in the tournament.
-Bowlers like Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh (19 wickets each), and Mohammed Siraj (15 wickets) are among the wickets in IPL 2024, delivering some fine performances but are prone to inconsistency and erratic line and lengths.
-Absence of a proper, consistent finisher in Rinku Singh in the squad of 15.
Top performers for India during this phase:
Suryakumar Yadav: 857 runs in 20 matches and 19 innings at an average of 53.56 and a strike rate of 161.39, with three centuries and five fifties, best score of 112*.
Yashasvi Jaiswal: In 17 T20Is for India, Jaiswal scored 502 runs in 16 innings at an average of 33.46 and a strike rate of 161.93, with a century and four half-centuries. His best score was 100.
Arshdeep Singh: Leading wicket-taker for India, with 33 wickets in 25 matches at an average of 23.09 and an economy rate of 9.10, with a best of 4/37.
Kuldeep Yadav: 15 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 14.33 and an economy rate of 13.50, with a best of 5/17.
Rinku Singh: 356 runs in 15 matches and 11 innings at an average of 89.00 and a strike rate of 176.24, with two half-centuries and best score of 69*.
India squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj
Reserves: Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan.

India wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan will miss the Test series against South Africa due to personal reasons. The BCCI didn't mention the exact reason for Ishan's release. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named KS Bharat as his replacement. Ishan hasn't featured for the Indian team since the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023, where India were beaten by Australia in the final.KS Bharat last featured for India in a Test back in June this year when the national team took on Australia in a Test series. Bharat had only made his Test debut for India in February this year, that too against Australia. Bharat wasn't the BCCI's plans for the Test assignment against South Africa but had to be brought in after Ishan's request. In a release, the BCCI said: "Mr Ishan Kishan has requested the BCCI to be released from the upcoming Test series against South Africa citing personal reasons. The wicket-keeper has subsequently been withdrawn from the Test squad. The Men's Selection Committee has named Mr KS Bharat as a replacement."Bharat might not be the first-choice wicket-keeper for India in the Test series against South Africa, with reports emerging that KL Rahul could be tried for the spot behind the stumps. Rahul has proved to be a handy option behind the stumps both in T20Is and ODIs.With Rishabh Pant still far from making a comeback, odds favour Rahul to be tried as a wicket-keeper across three formats. However, wicket-keeping in Tests remains a much difficult task, in comparison to ODIs and T20Is. It would be interesting to see how the BCCI decides to manage Rahul's workload if he is made a full-time wicket-keeper in all three formats.India's squad for Tests:Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Prasidh Krishna, KS Bharat (wk)Topics mentioned in this article

[ad_1] The West Indies tour has been a memorable for Ishan Kishan in the Test and ODI series but he seems to be unable to shake off his poor form in the T20Is. Kishan made his Test debut in the series and scored an unbeaten 52 off 34 balls in the second Test. In the ODI series that followed, Kishan scored half centuries in all three matches. Kishan got out to a single digit score in the first T20I and for 23 off 23 in the second(AFP) However, the 25-year-old got out to a single digit score in the first T20I and for 23 off 23 in the second before being replaced by Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order. In fact, while Kishan is known as one of the most impressive batters in the IPL, he hasn't quite had the same impact in T20 internationals. In 29 matches, Kishan has scored 686 runs at a middling strike rate of 121.63 and average of 24.50. In ODI cricket, on the other hand, Kishan has scored 694 runs in 17 matches at an average of 46.26 and strike rate of 107.34, which in the format is an astonishingly high number. Meanwhile, Kishan has scored 2324 runs in 91 matches at a strike rate of 134.26 in his IPL career. Former India opener Aakash Chopra has said that Kishan's struggles show just how different T20Is are from the IPL. "He has scored a double century in ODI cricket as an opener but he hasn't fired in T20Is. Let's not confuse T20Is with the IPL," he said on his Youtube channel. "In the IPL, you have a long season of 14 matches, if you bat at the top of the order and are an important player, like Ishan Kishan is for the Mumbai Indians, your place is secured and you keep on playing in one way. You know that there are a lot of matches. So you find your rhythm at some stage." "However, when you play T20Is, one series comes in three months. If you don't start well in that series, suddenly you start thinking because the number of matches is limited and your place is not yet fully secured, someone or the other is waiting behind you," he said. Yashasvi Jaiswal competing for the same spotKishan was replaced as wicketkeeper by Sanju Samson while Jaiswal, who had also made his Test debut earlier in the tour and scored 171 runs in his first innings itself, replaced him at the top of the order. “So if someone is waiting and there is pressure on you, sometimes you tend to forget what your template was. If you see the current series, he played only two matches, he has more than 50% dot balls. Ishan Kishan didn't use to play so many dot balls.” Holding back Jaiswal from the opening slot in T20Is is no easy task. The Mumbai youngster showed why he is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket by taking the 2023 season of the IPL by storm. He scored 626 runs in 14 matches for the Rajasthan Royals at a strike rate of 163.61 and average of 48.08 with one century and five half centuries to his name. One of those half centuries was an unbeaten 47-ball 98 against KKR in which he reached fifty in just 13 balls, thus breaking the record for the fastest half century in the IPL. It was also the second fastest half century in T20 history, only behind Yuvraj Singh's whirlwind 12-ball half century against England in the 2007 World Cup which he got to after hitting six sixes in an over. "His Experiences In England...": How MS Dhoni Guided India Star Ahead Of WTC Final
Tumblr media
India wicketkeeper KS Bharat, likely to be the first-choice glovesman for the World Test Championship final against Australia, has said he has got a "lot of insights" about keeping in England from former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the recently-concluded IPL. Bharat explained how Dhoni sharing his valuable tips could help him if he gets the team management's nod for the big game at The Oval from Wednesday. "Recently during the IPL, I had a word with Mahendra," Bharat told ICC on Monday. "He (talked about) his experiences keeping in England as well as what would work the best for any wicket-keeper. It was a very good conversation and there were a lot of insights from that," added Bharat. He said Dhoni's situational awareness was simply unmatched. "It's the awareness -- the best example is MS Dhoni, the awareness he has in keeping is outstanding," Bharat added. The 29-year-old Gujarat Titans player also felt that his job requires a lot of "intent" and one needs to be really passionate to do the "thankless job". "You need intent and passion to be a keeper, because keeping is a thankless job." While the debate continues on who between Bharat and Ishan Kishan should be in the XI for the WTC final, the former is the frontrunner given his experience of playing four Tests. Bharat, who is in the squad as India's first-choice wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is recovering from a horrific car crash and his back-up KL Rahul is recuperating from a surgery on his right thigh, added that keeping brings "challenges" which have to be embraced. "You keep 90 overs in a Test day and you have to be concentrating ball by ball, so you have to accept the challenges and embrace it and be really passionate about contributing to the team," added Bharat. Ahead of the contest for Test supremacy, Bharat's place in the side is one big selection dilemma being faced by the Rohit Sharma-led India. He has played just four Tests -- all against Australia recently at home during the Border Gavaskar series. Though he has performed admirably behind the stumps, his showing with the bat has been dismal -- he had a top score of 44 in six innings. However, Bharat's domestic experience of 90 first-class games could tilt the scale in his favour. Kishan, on the other hand, is yet to make his Test debut and has 48 first-class appearances. However, the young wicketkeeper has accomplished more with the bat than Bharat, having scored an ODI double-century against Bangladesh in Chattogram late last year. To add to that, Kishan scored 454 runs for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023. The left-handed batter also brings variety in an otherwise right-hand dominant batting line-up. Kannaur Lokesh Rahul was born in a highly educated family. His father, KN Lokesh, is a professor in Civil Engineering Department of NIT (National Institute of Technology) Karnataka and his mother Rajeshwari was a professor at Mangalore University. In fact, he spent the majority of his childhood on the campus of NIT Karnataka and it was on the grassless grounds of the college campus that he used to play cricket as a young boy. His parents identified his potential and decided to give him formal cricket coaching. The rest, as they say, is history.
KL Rahul Cricket Career
Young KL Rahul
KL Rahul started from U-19 cricket and slowly made his way into Karnataka’s first-class cricket team, making his debut in 2010. After a slow start, Rahul finally got his breakthrough season in 2012 when he was the highest run-scorer. His exploits did not go unnoticed and he was signed by IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore the very next season.
In 2014, Rahul made his Test debut for India against Australia in the memorable MCG Test. The pressure of his debut was too much for young Rahul and he gave horrible performances in both the innings. India ended up losing the match and the series.
However, in the Sydney Test, Rahul was given his usual opening spot and he made a sensational comeback with a century in his very second Test Match in National Jersey. Since then, there was no looking back for him.

Rs. 34 Crore
KL Rahul’s Net Worth is a whopping $10.2 Million (Dollars) which, converted to Indian Rupees is roughly around 81 Crore Rupees. However, his net worth was understandably not this high even a few years ago. Currently, KL Rahul is in the prime of his career and it can be understood that as the days pass by, his earnings and net worth will only rise exponentially before it goes stagnant in the later years of his career.
In 2018, KL Rahul’s Net Worth was 34 Crores, in 2019, he saw a minor increase in it as it rose up to 41. The major hike in his Net Worth came only this year wherein his net worth rose all the way from 64 Crores in 2021 to 81 Crores in 2022. The massive number of Brand Deals that KL Rahul has been getting lately is one of the main reasons for this anomaly.
Let us Compare the Net Worth of KL Rahul with some other current Indian Cricketers:-
Rishabh Pant – 63 Crores
Shubman Gill – 18.50 Crores
Hardik Pandya – 77 Crores
Virat Kohli – 892 Crores
Rohit Sharma – 145 Crores
Shikhar Dhawan – 105 Crores
Ishan Kishan – 45 Crores
KL Rahul Income and Salary 2022
Let us now talk about the Income and Salary of KL Rahul. We know that a major part of the earnings of Athletes and Sportsmen come from Brand Deals but we are going to cover that in our next section. In this sub-part, we shall be discussing only about the Income that KL Rahul gets from his occupation as a cricketer.
As we all know, KL Rahul recently made a move from Punjab Kings to Lucknow Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Under his new contract as the captain and the Marquee player of Lucknow Super Giants, he gets an annual salary of Rupees 17 Crores. Furthermore, under his contract with the BCCI, KL Rahul gets Rs 7 Crores Annually for his services to the Indian National Team. This takes his total annual earning (as a cricketer) all the way up to a whopping 24 Crore Rupees.
Not many people know that apart from being one of the top cricketers for India, KL Rahul is also the Assistant Manager at the Reserve Bank of India. In 2018, he was appointed for the post upon the recommendation of the then governor. It is an honorary post but KL Rahul still gets his salary. The average salary of an RBI Assistant Manager is about 12,81,766 Rupees per year.
We should also note that over his 10 years span of playing in the Indian Premier League, he has accumulated a total wealth of around 65.10 Crores from all the franchises that he has played for.

2013 Royal Challengers Bangalore ₹ 10 Lakh
Total ₹ 65.10 Crore
KL Rahul Brand Endorsements
In the last section, we estimated the income of KL Rahul but it did not include his earnings from Brand Endorsements. Well, it is usually very hard to estimate exactly how much anyone earns from promoting or endorsing a brand unless he/she himself opens up about it as these contracts between the two parties are strictly confidential. Yet, rumour has it that KL Rahul earns about 1 Crore Rupees from a single Brand Endorsement. However, these numbers are more complex than they seem and thus we can not know an exact value for how much KL Rahul earns from these brand deals in Total. However, we do know the brands that he endorses and here is a list of them all and everything you need to know about them:-
Zenovit – Zenovit is a dietary supplement brand, somewhat like Revital and KL Rahul, who has recently signed a contract with the company is now the face of it. Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon formerly used to be one of the sponsors of Zenovit. KL has also shot TV commercials for some of the company’s top products and they will start to be telecasted soon. For now, the digital presence of the brand is very low.
Puma – Puma is definitely one of the topmost brands that KL endorses. He being a sportsperson himself, Puma is a brand that fits with his personality and thus he is a perfect match for the brand. We have seen KL Rahul’s face in several advertisements of Puma and we can also see him in some of their marketing labels and posters.
Cure.fit – Cure.fit is a Bangalore-based health and fitness app and they have KL Rahul as their brand ambassador. Cornerstone Sport is said to have brokered the arrangement between the two parties and they have a deal in cash and equity. Cure.fit has recently started building several high-end fitness centres in cities all over India to broaden their company’s spectrum and as KL Rahul is an equity holder of Cure.fit, he will be a huge gainer if they do end up becoming a top Start-up.
Gully – Unlike the other brands on this list, Gully has been established personally by KL Rahul in association with Zeko Online Pvt. Ltd. It is a cult streetwear fashion company which aims to build a brand by selling on its own website and also on large third-party sites like Amazon, Myntra and Flipkart. Gully makes Joggers, T-Shirts, shorts and jeans as of now. KL Rahul himself endorses Gully’s products.
RBI – Ever since IPL 2018, we have been seeing several advertisements of RBI in between breaks that aim to promote financial literacy among Indian viewers. KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav Ishan Kishan are some of the well-known cricketers that can be seen in these advertisements. However, none of these cricketers received any fee for their appearance in these advertisements. As KL Rahul is an employee of RBI, it was easier to conduct the shoots.
NUMI – Foreign brands expanding to other nations is a common thing nowadays and recently, NUMI, a French luxury eyewear branded had expanded its business to India. They have appointed the gorgeous couple – KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty as the prime faces of the company in India.
KL Rahul Lifestyle
We All know that KL Rahul likes to give it his all on the field whenever he is playing a cricket match. But how is he like off-the field? Let us talk about his lifestyle to get an idea of that.
Apartment – KL Rahul owns a luxurious apartment in Bangalorw with his own Sun Deck which also acts as the space for his personal workouts. His sun pad, and in fact his entire house is designed with intricate furnishing and he has revealed his apartment in some of his own Instagram posts. According to rumours, KL Rahul’s apartment is Rupees 65 Lakhs. However, other rumours suggest that KL Rahul and girlfriend Athiya Shetty will soon move to a lavish Rs 10 lakhs per month 4BHK apartment in Bandra.

Watches – Just like his teammates Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul too is a big fan of expensive watches. Here is a list of some of the costliest watches that the cricketer owns:
Day-Date Rolex (Rs 27 lakhs)
Panerai (Rs 8 lakhs)
18K Rose Gold Sky Dweller Rolex (Rs 38 lakhs)
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (19 lakhs)
Vacation – KL Rahul loves London and Australia but his favourite places to relax are the ones that are away from crowds – prebferably having a lively coast.
Food – KL Rahul is a Non-Vegetarian and thus he prefers to eat healthy Non-Vegetarian food as he is also very health concious.
KL Rahul Pet Dog Simba
Pets – KL Rahul has a pet dog names Simba. However, he is no ordinary dog. Simba is a Chow-Chow Dog which is one of the most expensive dog breeds in the world. The Cost of a Chow-Chow Dog in India goes all the way up to 1 Lakhs. Chow-Chow Dogs are not very social dogs and they usually prefer to stay aloof from others. Although they can be aggressive towards other dogs, they are very devoted and protective of their family. They have an overweight tendency with too much rich food. KL Rahul once shared a pic of him with Simba on Instagram and it is one of his most like posts.
KL Rahul Girlfriends
KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty
We all know that KL Rahul is currently in a committed relationship with Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty who happens to be the daughter of Suniel Shetty. The two are also rumoured to tie knots soon and the actress also goes to most of KL Rahul’s matches.
About KL Rahul Relationships
However, Athiya Shetty was not the only star that KL Rahul was rumoured to be dating and before Athiya Shetty, there were also some other celebrities in his life. Let us see who they were:
Akansha Ranjan Kapoor – Akansha Ranjan Kapoor is best known for her works in Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Wedding Pulav. Rumours of KL Rahul dating her started a few years ago when the actress posted a picture of her with the cricketer on Social media with the caption “n I’m so good with that.” However, KL Rahul himself later debunked those rumours saying that all he wanted to do at that moment was to focus on his game.
Akansha Ranjan Kapoor
Nidhi Agerwal – When Nidhi Agerwal made her Bollywood debut back in 2017 with the movie Munna Michael, she was pretty much the talk of the nation. It was at that time that a picture of KL Rahul and Nidhi Agerwal at a Cafe went viral and the rumours started spreading. However, KL was very annoyed at these rumours. He said, “Can’t a guy and girl be friends, is it so hard?”. It later turned out that the two knew each other from their college days.
Nidhi Agerwal
Sonam Bajwa – Sonam Bajwa is a very famous and gorgeous Punjabi Actress and Model. It is said that KL Rahul used to have a huge crush on her and he even made some flirty comments on her Instagram posts back in the days. However none of the two celebrities made a public comment on the same and the story went down in vain.
Sonam Bajwa
Sonal Chauhan – Sonal Chauhan made her Bollywood debut with the insanely hit movie Jannat. She sadly did not get any major Bollywood project after that for some reason but she is one of the top models of India and is also pretty famous. Back in 2018 when India were on a tour to England, Sonal Chauhan delightfully tweeted to following on the return of KL Rahul to the Indian Team: “Feel sorry for @dineshkarthik who hasn’t yet got a game on this tour but how do you possibly leave out any of the current playing XI? Especially happy to see @klrahul11 playing. he’s too talented to ignore for long!.” This triggered dating rumours between the two but Sonal Chauhan herself later cleared out that they were not dating.

KL Rahul Biggest Controversy
KL Rahul might have a chocolate-boy image on and off the field but he has not been without controversies in his career so far. Let us look at some of the top controversies that he had put himself in:
During India’s tour of the West Indies in 2016, KL Rahul posted a picture of himself holding a beer bottle alongside Umesh Yadav and Stuart Binny in a selfie. The post went viral instantly but many of the BCCI officials did not like it. They were of the opinion that it sent a very wrong image about Indian cricketers to the fans. KL Rahul deleted the post later.
In 2017, KL Rahul got into a nasty fight with a fan on Twitter. On one fine day, Ravichandran Ashwin followed KL on Twitter and he could not hide his emotion. He humbly tweeted about how happy he was but a certain fan commented below the tweet: “ye sab chhodo…runs kaise bane usps dhyan de”. KL Rahul could not stop himself and he replied with a sarcastic tweet: “Plz Come and teach us bhai. Im sure apko pata hai kaise banate hai runs.”
Undoubtedly the biggest controversy in KL Rahul’s career started back in 2019 when he and Hardik Pandya were invited for an episode of Koffee with Karan. The two allegedly made sexist remarks in that episode and were banned for several days after that by BCCI.

Who will Open with Rohit Sharma in West Indies series
Team India is set to play west indies for limited over series from today onwards. Even before Indian Team could start preparing and practising for the tour. Indian Team was hit by Covid crisis. Many players from Indian Camp were detected covid positive and doubts where raised regarding the West Indies series.
Players like Ruturaj Gaikwad , Shikhar Dhawan , Yuzi Chahal were tested positive for covid. Total 11 members from Indian camp including few support and backroom staff members were hit by covid.
So now question for BCCI was whether and how smooth conduct the WI series. BCCI said there will be no change in scheduling of WI series and series will go ahead as planned. Players like Shahrukh Khan , Rishi Dhawan , Mayank Agarwal and Ishan Kishan were added to the squad.
 https://youtu.be/Kb-wky-wsbM
Another question which came was who would open with Rohit Sharma in 1st game as KL Rahul is unavailable due to personal reasons and next 2 openers in line Ruturaj and Shikhar Dhawan both are covid positive. Indian Captain Rohit Sharma came in press conference yesterday and confirmed that Ishan Kishan will open with him in this 1st ODI as Mayank Agarwal joined the Squad late so he is yet complete his quarantine and only option Team India has is Ishan Kishan.
Also there reports that Deepak Hoda is all set for his Indian Team debut. Many others might to get their debuts or starts. It would be interesting to see what would be Team India Line-up for 1st Odi.

"Honoured to receive a bat from my role model"- Chamika Karunaratne thanks Hardik Pandya for the gesture
Tumblr media
Chamika Karunaratne made his T20I debut for Sri Lanka during the first T20I fixture against India. The pacer was presented with a bat before the match by his idol Hardik Pandya.Following the conclusion of the match, which saw India take a 1-0 lead courtesy of a 38-run win, Karunaratne thanked the all-rounder for his gesture on social media."Honoured to receive a bat from my role model @hardikpandya93 thank you so much for giving me your bat, you are an amazing human being and I will never forget this day. May God bless you always. 🙏🏻"During the pre-match warm-up Pandya was seen asking for a bat from the dressing room. The all-rounder received the bat from Ishan Kishan, which he proceeded to hand over to Chamika Karunaratne. The player tested out the new bat with a stance and thanked Pandya for the same before parting ways with a fist bump.
Chamika Karunaratne endured a bleak debut
Chamika Karunaratne had a solid outing in the ODI series, especially with the bat where he contributed vital runs down the order. The 25-year-old was handed the new ball alongside Dushmanta Chameera in the first T20I after the hosts had won the toss. While Chameera found some swing up front, Karunaratne couldn't get the ball to move around much and was given only a one-over spell in the Powerplay. He later returned back into the attack and got his maiden wicket by dismissing the settled Shikhar Dhawan. Karunaratne ended up with figures of 1-34 following a splendid final over that yielded no boundaries.Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, had a game to forget. The swasbuckling all-rounder could only muster 10 runs off 12 deliveries with the bat. He also dropped a sitter inside the circle while fielding and was hit for a maximum off his very first delivery while bowling. Pandya finished with a wicket in the end by removing the struggling Ashen Bandara.Sri Lanka have now lost 10 out of their last 11 T20Is and will have to come up with an exceptional performance to topple this spiritied India side. The second T20I is scheduled for June 26 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Edited by Anantaajith Ra Login to reply Read the full article

[ad_1] Team India, who find themselves in a do-or-die situation, made two changes in the playing XI for the third T20I against West Indies at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who stormed into the international stage with a commanding performance in the Tests, is all set to make his debut in the Blue jersey. He replaces Ishan Kishan in the playing XI. (Follow: India vs West Indies 3rd T20I Live Cricket Score) Yashasvi Jaiswal makes T20I debut Jaiswal has enjoyed a terrific season and will hope to carry forward the show with the series at stake. Jaiswal produced a superb show in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), amassing 625 runs from 14 matches. It also featured 13-ball 50 against Kolkata Knight Riders, the quickest in the history of IPL. In total he scored a ton and five half-centuries, and backed his show with an autorotative 171 in his Test debut. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav also returned to the XI after missing out on the second encounter due to a sore left thumb. He comes in place of Ravi Bishnoi, who finished wicketless and conceded 31 runs in his four overs. West Indies, on the other hand, were forced to tweak their winning combination Jason Holder sits out due to a niggle in his knee. Roston Chase replaces the tall all-rounder in the West Indies playing XI. Meanwhile, speaking at the toss, which West Indies won and opted to bat, their skipper Rovman Powell said that the guys are excited as they are brink to create history. The hosts have a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. "Guys are excited, we are on the doorstep on history. They (India) have such quality players, have to keep them on their toes. If you become predictable, they will destroy you," said Powell. If there is anyone who has hurt India the most in the series, it is Nicholas Pooran and the gloveman will look to continue his exploits. Pooran scored 41 off 34 balls in the series opener and followed it up with an explosive 40-ball 67 in the second encounter. When asked to Hardik Pandya if he has deviced any specific plans for the power-hitter, the Indian captain said: “Pooran has been batting very well. Would like to keep things simple to him, rather than trying a lot of things.” ABOUT THE AUTHOR At HT Sports Desk, passionate reporters work round the clock to provide detailed updates from the world of sports.
