It’s a taxi with the number sign, operating on designated routes, essentially in service as public bus. You hop on it as you do on bus, tell the driver where you want to get off. You can pretty much travel to anywhere in the city for a fixed fare of 500 pesos which is less than a dollar. How great idea is this for a large city with small population!! This is one example of delight surprises I embrace while traveling. Whether it’s about transport or accommodation, some places have different systems so novel, that I question all status quo’s in my daily life. How traveling boosts creativity. A few other things to note about Chile. The county uses the Italian electric plug type with three round holes. Typical European plugs would work, but I mistakenly brought the Korean adaptor which tend to be a little thicker. So far, I’ve managed to squeeze them in, but no luck in Patagonia. Luckily both of the room I stayed in had old TV set with American plugs. Seems like the major 4 plug types cover all countries in the world. Quite often, the card machine gives an error message “Invalid parameter size” upon entering pin. I strongly suspect this is due to my PIN number starting with 0, the engineers who implemented the gateway didn’t see this as test case, so the reader treats the PIN number as 3 digits. Since many people seem to use birthdates as password, those are the ones likely to complain. I previously had a similar issue with cvv with leading 0 for online booking. Why testing is important for careless programmers😑 (at Magdalena Island, Magallanes Region)
