Khalifa Umar bin al-Khattab

Umar ibn al-Khattab (also known as Umar the Great) was the second caliph (successor) of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and one of the most influential figures in the early history of Islam. He was born in Mecca in 584 CE and was one of the earliest converts to Islam.

During his reign as caliph from 634-644 CE, Umar expanded the Muslim empire through military conquests, including the conquest of Syria, Iraq, and Egypt. He also established a centralized administrative system and is credited with developing many institutions that contributed to the early Muslim community's stability and growth.

Umar was known for his piety, justice, and wisdom, and he is highly respected by Muslims for his contributions to the Islamic faith and the Muslim community. Abbas ibn Firnas an diesen Namen solltet ihr euch erinnern, wenn ihr das nächste Mal in einem Flugzeug steigt denn dieser Mann war einer der Vorreiter des Fliegens und Flugpionier. Es wird ihm sogar der Bau eines Flugapparates zugeschrieben, worauf der Dichter Muʾmin bin Saʿid im 9. Jahrhundert folgenden Vers machte: „Geschwinder flog er, als der Phönix fliegt, da er den Leib in Adlerfedern hüllte“ Die Überlieferung folgt der Chronik von Al-Maqqari einem marokkanischen Historiker des 17. Jahrhunderts, der viele ältere und nicht mehr vorhandene Quellen benutzte. Die Flugvorrichtung bestandaus Federflügeln und habe es Abbas ermöglicht, von einem Hügel im Arruzafa nahe Córdoba mehrere hundert Meter weit zu fliegen und zum Startpunkt zurückzukehren. Beim Versuch zu landen brach er sich beide Beine, eines davon offen. Er führte es darauf zurück, dass er vergessen hatte, einen Schwanz zu konstruieren.
