Also, “Dylan originally fantasized about constructing some kind of doomsday with their mutual friend, Zach” I have looked up and down Dylan’s journal, and I remember the everlasting contrast blog saying that so many times, I have no idea what she’s talking about, do you have any references or the exact quote?

Ahh, I feel a bit embarrassed by my words being quoted ... I indeed wrote that! Anyway, I'll admit that I made a little oopsie and misremembered that passage in Dylan's journal where he briefly mentions the idea of either committing or going NBK with his Halcyon Girl as him referring to Zach instead ... I am stupid! You can be mad at me, I don't blame you ... I admit I was full of it now instead of being stubborn over it. T.T

But! Because what I remembered was incorrect, like you, I started to wonder what The Everlasting Contrast was referencing in particular as well! So, we are now in this together, anonymous ... !!

Now, and I didn't even notice this until looking more closely, but that second post I linked from TEC starts with "I think," meaning it's not based on any actual "proof", but rather conclusions based on her own personal research surrounding DK & ZH's friendship. Which is ... I don't even know. Picture me grimacing at how disappointed I am in myself & my blunder.

Moving on, the accounts we have from Zach and his father fail to detail the exact bond they had prior to a week before the massacre. What we do know is that they started forming a bond together in Freshman year ( 1995, at the latest. ), and going off what Dylan implied in his writing, they both had a connection strung through vulnerability.

We can assume Zach and Dylan spent a LOT of time together before the former got a girlfriend. Dylan states that they were each other's firsts in a lot of different circumstances. Even after they started drifting apart, and when DK was in the middle of his plans for NBK with Eric, Zach implied they still had a routine of playing games together while on the phone starting around 10:30 until the middle of the night.

Without a doubt, before 1997, they confided in each other about mutual suicidal ideation from how Dylan was upset over the fact Zach could find a girl who could listen to him on such a personal level & he couldn't ( Or, because Zach could admit something so private to someone other than him ... either way, he still knew Zach's business. ).

Taking into account that they could talk openly to each other about wanting to bring harm to themselves, it wouldn't be much of a boundary to cross when mentioning the idea of inciting harm to others. I believe that's where TEC got the idea of, in a way, Dylan's first mental "drafts" / fantasies of what NBK would evolve into were rooted in, at least the concept of not doing something big like that alone. I do not think one bit that he actually wanted to sit down and take the time to pursue damnation with Zach, but I don't think the idea of him daydreaming about that concept was out of the question either.

The same applies to Halcyon Girl, although he was a bit ( <- /s ) more intense about his reveries relating to her than what we can potentially assume with ZH. Hence why I don't think the vague concept started with Halcyon Girl. Obviously, he ripped the concept from the movie NBK, but from how dead-set he had spoken on it, it's clear that it was something that had been brewing inside him longer than he let on. That's just my take though! Not any kind of solid statement ... none of this has been. Tears streaming down my face over the curse of infinite possibility.

Now, I think it's very important to keep in mind that it would be nearly impossible even if it were a frequent occurrence between ZH and DK to discuss homicidal thoughts, to find Zach admitting to that ... because it could've gotten him into some serious trouble at the time considering his friend did ... well, that. They were mentally ill teenage boys, I don't blame TEC for coming to the conclusion she did one bit, I honestly respect her thoughts because I do see where a lot of truth can be found in them because it's one of those things, due to how sensitive the subject matter is and our main confirmation being dead, we'll never get a true, final answer on.

Lastly, I want to focus on the wording of Dylan's statement here where he patently admits, even accepts ( ? ), the idea of following through with NBK by Eric's side.

First of all, it was so foul of him to say "gawd" in parathesis like that … 😭 I jest. Second, the fact he did that in general, followed up with "I hate this," shows this was not the way he idealized things to be. Whether it be with his life, Halcyon Girl, NBK, or as a whole … we don't know, but what we do is that it clearly wasn't with Eric in mind. But, that's the worst-case scenario. There was a clear dissatisfaction in his tone despite any possibility we can think of, and that doesn't automatically mean it was directed toward Eric. It's about the implication that this isn't what he wanted at the end of the day.

More so silly, but the way TEC parodied his statement here made me giggle. Normalize saying a quick GAWD over major inconveniences!

That's all I can think to write ... I'm sorry that I couldn't provide you with a direct source saying DK originally wanted to do some variant of NBK with ZH. I think it just comes down to teenage boy behavior, and believe me when I say I'm just as frustrated with myself over it ... at least we both came out of it with the answer that there is no answer. Not really a new occurrence on this side of Tumblr though, huh? ... This has all been kind of lame, but I still hope I didn't waste your time with this read. I, at least, wanted to make up for my mistake. >.<;;

just the other day i was thinking about an orpheus!revali x eurydice!link au because i was listening to 'wait for me' from the musical 'hadestown'. what about a percy jackson au with revali as a son of apollo who resents link because he gets claimed by a powerful god that no one would have ever guessed would have children. i have part of a scene drafted in my informal-concepting style of a fucking writer!link x editor!revali au. i cannot stress to you enough how insane and Not Normal i am about these two, i will stretch so far to make every connection to revalink i can, i might just get a little taller!

BUT TEEHEE i'm hoping i can get That™ Revalink fic out on time for revalink week 🥺 i stopped writing it for a bit because i got some writer's block and i felt like i was putting too much Plot for a oneshot, but we'll see how it goes! i planned some other stuff based on the prompts, but with the way this semester is going, i doubt i'll be able to write full-fledged oneshots on time for each of them so i may end up just uploading them later on after the semester is over (late may, june, etc)

LOL to that last bit, idk....... i've spent so much time on stan twitter and the internet in general i've developed a very particular way of talking. i'm someone who, if you say a certain word or phrase around me enough, i'll start adding it to my vocabulary without really thinking. like the reason why i type 'not' and 'sorry' as 'nawt' and 'sawry' sometimes? my stan twitter bestie lele (i'm not gonna tag her but she's on here as well i know ur seeing this bff i love u sm). how sometimes my emoji usages are random? also partly lele and other stan twitter mutuals who liked to use random emojis that had nothing to do with the topic because it was funny. i feel like the way i type things online expresses exactly the tone and flow i would use irl too 🤞😽
