Got my sister hooked on espresso martinis last christmas and she asked for more espresso vodka this yeah lol. I've been brainstorming how to spice things up and have a few ideas but would love if you have any suggestions. She's way to lazy to use actual espresso so it's gotta be without that lol. A few of the things I've come across that might have some potential:
Rhodium Coffee & Black Walnut Flavored Vodka, mezcal, simple syrup from brown sugar that they use for bubble tea, flavored bitters (Xocolatl mole bitters? idk lol), and i saw something saying maybe you could use Green cardamom to spice it up.
okay so putting my rusty bartender skills to the test:
honestly in a really simple way, any syrup flavouring that you would use in an actual coffee would work well in an espresso martini - for the holidays specifically, gingerbread flavoured syrup would be insane. Off the top of my head you'd probably have to thin out the syrup if you were using actual coffee stuff but just drip in a bit of boiled water until the desired consistency is achieved and you'll be fine.
also never done it but you could potentially halve the vodka and top up with amaretto to bring out the nutty coffee flavour? never tried it but again, off the top of my head i don't think it would be a bad idea, and would sweeten it a lil bit more.
Honestly all the stuff you've listed already does sound really decent, esp the brown sugar (the concept of alcoholic bubble coffee sounds insane).
But that's my two cents

It's interesting, because at my last job my boss was good---very good---about creating and fostering relationships. At the time I was horrified, because why are you texting our general counsel? Why are you calling someone up and asking them to opine on something that's just showed up on your radar?? This is business, we need to do business-y things in a business way!!!
It took me a long time to recognize what this approach bought him. He was terrible at data entry, yes. I don't think he once ever approved my vacation time, just said "sure, put your out of office message on." (He hated approving vacation time, so he just....didn't.) But he was looped in, hooked in, always consulted. Everyone picked up his calls, because if he was calling it wasn't going to be a haranguing, he wanted to work with you to achieve both your goals, and honestly? you could call him out of the blue too. It worked both ways. He was crystal clear when things were handed down from the top (usually because we'd get a beer and he'd complain about it) and when requests were coming from him/our team. And he was always, always very clear that we were his people, and it was Us against The Company; he was consistently, unequivocally and completely on our side.
(........this did not stop The Company from pulling its shenanigans, but it always felt like he was siding with Us when it did.)
I know this, because now I'm in an organization where my boss isn't on our side, where things aren't explained---even when explanations would make the boss' requests more reasonable. I'm aware of other situations too, where members of the team have been what seems like deliberately insulted or attacked by our boss, which is frankly unnecessary.
I don't have a conclusion to draw from all of this, and god knows that bad bosses are ten a penny, each terrible in their own way. Still, I do think about it more and more, particularly as I stare down 1 year with the company.

No, see, now I'm thinking about Iris teaching Phoenix how to plait hair and getting emotional about it because like. The first person who ever plaited her hair was probably her mother, right? And I think Morgan's the kind of mum who's rather strict with hair, meaning that it'd be drawn very tight and be a rather painful affair. After they leave Kurain, I'm guessing that Iris still may not have known how to braid her hair but Dahlia did, and so Dahlia was the one who used to do it for her before eventually teaching Iris to do it herself; and, while I don't think Dahlia was as rough as Morgan was, she did learn how to plait from her, and she has nails, so it still hurt a little. But that's how Iris learns to plait her hair: with a touch of force and an emphasis on bridled control. It's necessary, when you're working up in the mountains since it keeps strands out of the way.
But then she goes to Ivy-U and meets the kindest, gentlest man she's ever known, and he gets curious as to how she does her hair, so she shows him. It's the first time anyone's ever touched her hair and truly cared about not hurting her -- he's hesitant to even comb his fingers through it because he's afraid of tugging on her scalp -- and she has to change the way she moves as they slowly, carefully work their way through the two braids together. Yes, it takes longer than it normally would, and the braids are looser than she would usually wear them, but they stay, and it's the first she's ever tried plaiting them in a way that's different from her mother and sister -- the first she's ever considered it, even -- and it shows her, irrevocably, that kindness and gentleness can be just as effective as the harsh strength her family has always prided and possessed. It's the first time that Iris has used her hands in a way that feels truly natural to her and not been ashamed for her own weakness.
And she carries that with her for the rest of her life; just as he carries what her hands showed him as he brushes his fingers through her younger sister's fairer brown locks, while she sits in jail and does the same to her own long, dark hair, now black as it should be instead of red.

Well y'all it's been fun but I'm going to take a break now. I won't be gone long, maybe a few days or a week, but I just need time away from here.
Not to sound like a pompous asshole, but since S4 I've been flooded with notifications and it's starting to bug me (as a person in general I don't like notifications and I'm not too sure why!) so I just need an escape from it for a little bit. At the same time I want to apologize to all the people who have reblogged or left replies on my posts with questions about S4 or wanting to start a discussion. I just don't have the mental capacity to try and talk to you all, and it's nothing against any of you!
My mental state has slowly deteriorated over the past month, especially with being so incredibly busy at school and then my last day before break was super shitty. This is my last week of break before I go back and I am so incredibly anxious about it and everything else I have to face in my life right now.
If you need me I'll be taking a mental vacation over on @spikes-got-anger-issues
