Gus and Mattholomule as a romantic pairing is some of the funniest shit to me because like. Gus is a very powerful illusionist to the point where he creates convincing illusions that others struggle to see through. He saw through the illusions of the Illusionist Coven Head AND beat him and took his amplifier. Not to mention he’s described as a Speed Demon by Willow and I believe introduced as skipping a grade? (Might be wrong about that but my point stands.)

And Mattholomule is his lameass boyfriend who Gus cringes at sometimes and who took up learning illusion magic himself because of Gus. And when I imagine them getting together, it’s Mattholomule asking in the most over the top way possible that uses wayyy too many tropes used in romance novels and movies, and Gus himself being baffled that it WORKS and he doesn’t know why.
