It sounds so good AND IT MAY BE A CUTSCENE kinda like Kazuha’s friend or Makoto’s in the Archon Quests! I’m really hoping we get more lore on our boo boo Dottore he’s just so interesting!!) I also just recently read a VERY lengthy character analysis on him and oh mygskkd. It really helped me get to understand Dottore as a character and how it disapproves of many misconceptions of himself. (Like being a sadist for ex.) if you ever want the link I can send it since it was on tt. And the day I’m writing this it’s Childe’s birthday, which ironically enough my mom also shared a birthday with him LMAO. (She’s only aware of this bc of how much I dawn over the chars 😭) and to answer your question from one of the recent brainrots I had made “who are you saving up for” I’m actually saving up for Zhongli cons! He’s at C0 rn but in hoping to at least get C2 or C3, but I also won’t be spending my almost 400 wishes on him since I really want a lot of the Fontaine characters, and I’m still hoping for Dottore to become playable soon 😭 (this is me trying to cope) but I hope you have a wonderful day and week!! 1: I graduated 'high school'/'upper secondary school' (it's not exactly the same here in Sweden, but... you know? ;)

2: I received an A on my C1 advanced test

3: I passed all tests, and finally got my driving/driver's license...

4: I got into UNI, wihooo :D

it's been a busy few months, to say the least :)

But I'm back! I wouldn't call this the best thing I've ever written, but I still feel like it's good enough to post. I'm also working on a few other projects, so keep an eye out for that ;)

It was raining. Again. But not just ‘raining’ - it was POURING DOWN - and despite the castle not being surrounded by dementors this year, everything still felt… dark? Cold? Something was changing, and though the ministry refused to listen, (Y/N) was sure that it was a direct consequence of Voldemort’s recent return. She hadn’t slept well the past few months due to nightmares intruding and disturbing her as soon as she started drifting off, thus explaining why she was still awake despite it being almost three AM.

She shifted slightly and used her right hand to push her (Y/H/L), (Y/H/C) hair out of her face. She didn’t find herbology particularly interesting but had decided to use the night to finish as much homework as possible. It’s not healthy, but if you’re unable to sleep, why not be productive instead? (Y/N) kept writing but was suddenly interrupted by a voice whispering her name.

“(Y/N)…?

She turned around, accidentally knocking her bottle of ink over in the process, muttered a quick ‘shit’, and spotted a certain redhead on the staircase leading to the boys’ dormitory.

“Oh, Hey, Ron…”, she mumbled as her close friend quietly made his way to the sofa and sat down next to her. “Why are you up? I didn’t wake you, right?”

“No..?”, he said while placing the now empty bottle on the table. (Y/N) waved her wand swiftly and watched the black-ish liquid disappear from the red carpet beneath them. “No, I woke because of the storm - listen, why're you still up?”

(Y/N) sighed deeply and leant her head backwards while rubbing her eyes tiredly. She could feel Ron staring at her, but opted for silently looking out the window instead of meeting her friend’s questioning gaze.

“(Y/N/N)? C’mon…”

“Can’t sleep… It’s really not more complicated than that. I know I won’t fall asleep, so why try?”

“Oh my-! (Y/N)!”. Ron grabbed (Y/N)’s left arm and turned her around so she was facing him. “Usually you’re better, but occasionally you’re just as hopeless as Harry. You can’t just… I don’t know - stay awake forever?! I… Have you at least talked to him about it?”

“Are you crazy!?”, she whispered angrily. “Ron, of course I haven’t. Do you honestly think that would help either of us?”

“Yes! Yes, I do! (Y/N), I want to help you, but I really don’t think I can. Now, I don’t know how many nights you have gone without sleep, but I do know that your brother has woken me up pretty much every night these past few weeks. Since the two of you are clearly having the same problem, maybe you sho-”

(Y/N) had closed her eyes and was leaning ever so slightly away from Ron whose voice had gotten louder and harsher. She wasn’t usually so… fragile? Sensitive? However, her abnormal childhood had left its mark on her, and it got especially bad when people she knew well were angry or frustrated. Ron knew this but realized his mistake too late.

“Hey, (Y/N/N).”, he mumbled, now much calmer. He slowly moved his hand towards her and placed it carefully on her shoulder once he was sure she didn’t flinch or recoil. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Listen, I just worry, okay? About both of you. Seriously (Y/N/N) - I’m aware that a lot is going on, but Harry wakes up in nightmares if not every, then every other night, and you’re not sleeping at all - it’s not healthy. It’s not always easy to ask for help, but maybe you don’t have to do everything alone all the time? You have friends, (Y/N/N)! We’ll always listen, but if you don’t think we’ll understand, Harry definitely will. Do me a favour, if you don’t wanna talk to me, talk to him, please?

(Y/N) took a shaky breath, moved closer to Ron and let her head rest on his shoulder. He put his arms around her and began gently playing with her hair.

“Thanks”

They sat for a moment, doing nothing but watching the moonlight shining through the window and enjoying each other's company. Ron was about to ask (Y/N) something when he noticed the girl slowly drifting off to sleep with her head on his shoulder. He pushed some of her hair behind her ear and listened to her steady breathing. It was calming somehow, and Ron would have fallen asleep himself if not for the sound of his name being called from behind.

“Ron?”

Turning around quickly, yet carefully, Ron’s eyes met his best friend’s.

“Harry.. Ehm.. Why'ru awake?”

“Nightmare…”, said Harry slowly, noticing his sister sleeping soundly on the sofa. “What’s your excuse?”

“Ehmm…”, mumbled Ron, shifting awkwardly. “I-She-I woke up and heard something, so I went down here and found her still doing homework. Has apparently been sleepin’ just about as good as you.”

Harry sighed and rubbed his face tiredly. “I asked her about that a few days ago… said she was fine. Why wouldn't she tell me?”

“My best guess? She probably didn’t wanna bother you. To be honest, mate, it’s not like it’s been an easy year or anythin’.”

“She could never bother me!”, exclaimed Harry, probably a bit too loud. “She knows that!?”

“Shhh…”, mumbled Ron uncomfortably. “We should probably let her sleep… Look, are you saying you talk to her every time you have a bad dream or… you know - feel down?”

“I guess not, but…”

“Then why are you expecting her to?”

Ron moved (Y/N) and put her head down on the armrest before standing up.

“Look, maybe if you tell her about your struggles she’ll tell you about hers? I don’t know, maybe I’m the wrong person to ask, but it sounds about right to me…?”

“Yeah…”, muttered Harry. “I guess b-”

He turned around quickly when he heard (Y/N) mumble something incoherent.

“Hey, (Y/N/N)?”. He walked closer to the sofa and squatted down by his sister, who was now sweating and whimpering softly - clearly suffering from a bad dream. Harry shook her gently, but she moved away from his touch as her breathing became rapid and shallow.

“(Y/N/N)...”, Harry sighed deeply before taking both of (Y/N)’s hands into his own. He hated the thought of his sister struggling so but knew from experience that it was inevitable. She suddenly inhaled sharply and sat up.

She looked around frantically, but Harry brought her into his arms and hugged her tightly.

“Shhh… Shh, (Y/N/N), you’re fine. I’ve got you, I’ve got you…”

She was breathing even faster and struggled against him, but Harry simply tightened his hold.

“Hey, hey, (Y/N/N)? Shhh… Shhh… (Y/N)! Look at me, please?”

Their eyes met, and eventually, (Y/N) calmed down enough to breathe normally. She sighed deeply and leant her forehead against her older brother’s torso. The common room was completely silent until Ron decided to awkwardly clear his throat and mutter something about going back to bed.

Harry and (Y/N) remained quiet for a while, but eventually, (Y/N) decided to speak up.

“I’m sorry, Harry. I’m so sorry…”

“(Y/N/N), don’t apologize, please! You haven’t done anything wrong.”

“I know, bu-”

“No”, said Harry, to which (Y/N) sighed.

“But”, she continued. “I still feel silly every time it happens.”

“I get it, (Y/N/N), you know I do. And I know it’s hard to talk about, but… You help me all the time - would it kill you to let me do the same?”

“Philosopher much?”, said (Y/N) with a slight smile. “You’re right, though… I guess I should have told you, it’s just...“

“Again, (Y/N/N), I get it! Listen, why don’t we both try to get a couple of hours of sleep and then talk tomorrow? It sounds like we might both need it, okay?”

“Yeah”, yawned (Y/N), now realizing just how tired she actually was. The thought of going to sleep still frightened her, but knowing that her brother was close made her feel comfortable enough to give it a try. “Sounds good to me. G’night Haz.”

The highest con of bennett he had ever gotten is probably c1. One day the paimon's bargain shop offered bennett as their monthly character. Kyojuro had never been so excited over a game before. He usually perks up over academics and not this kind of thing. But it's bennett, the character he admires the most.

Unfortunately he couldnt get it due to low currency. He had never feel so sad in his life.

Type of player :

Carefully reads every stories and listens to their lines attentively. He finds it amazing how the company spent their everything on this game. It amazes him. From the stories, lores and lines, he truly appreciates it.

Balance his team pretty well. He mains bennett so he doesnt need that much of a healer in his team.

Enjoys bennett's hangout very much!! He tried to not get him killed by the dungeon's trap but ended up having to sacrifice him which ultimately ends the route. He had never felt so down and guilty before.

Not much of a damage dealer. He prefers to play it in normal mode and doesnt care that much about one shotting monster.

He feeds his character three meals a day!! If only there's a sleep option, he would be sending bennett to sleep first before the rest.

Everyone loves his teapot

Shinobu : found the game while she's scrolling through the app store out of boredom. Initially she played it on her phone but due to the fps and a really bad ping, so bad that douma wouldnt find her interesting anymore, she finally downloaded the game on her pc where things has starting to get real

My man cant dodge after he got zhongli. Its very painful because he used to studies the enemies movement in the early game so that he can utilizes it on the team but zhongli's shield is so tank he forgot that dodging exists

That one event where zhongli's shield plays an important role in the domain? Yeah, he felt like a god at that time. Even got his c2 on his rerun. Sanemi just really like zhongli because it kinda reminds him of himejima. Calm and wise and strong too. He looks up on that kind of person

Tengen : played since 1.0 this madlad has been staying loyal to the game ever since. Quite huge amount of money he spend on this game to be honest but he never gets broke by it. You can see his regular donation to the game by purchasing welkin and battle pass and some genesis crystal too. He's loaded with money, he didnt know what to do with it.

Uzui also plays honkai impact and guns girl Z so when he saw the unknown god at the intro , he was not surprised.

Odulesi entertaining guests at a public function. How did you discover that this is what you want to do? I am very passionate about learning languages. So in 2006, someone wanted to wed, so they asked me to come and anchor it. I said no, I don’t know how to really anchor an event but they said no I must do it for them, anyhow I do it. So I went ahead with trepidation and I did it. Even though, I didn’t know the rules of anchoring, I just did whatever I taught I saw people do in wedding and I gave the language flair. That time I could speak Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, French and English, and in the hall, people began to clap and clap and that gave me a motivation. So I thought is like I can do this thing, it’s like people like this thing. Right from there people started to book me for events, but it was free and I was too glad too. That was how I started. Who is Adedeji Odulesi? Adedeji Odulesi is a hundred percent Yoruba man by birth, Ijebu to be precise, my dad is from Iperu in Ogun State while my mum is from Poka in Lagos State. Odulesi with the Minister of State, Niger Delta, Barrister Festus Keyamo at a public event. Can you take us through the journey of how you became a Polyglot? I was born in Warri, Delta State and I did my primary school there. Warri is a town where you have so many nationalities, you have Isoko, Itshekiri, Ijaw, Urobo. Then the variances of Ibo like Kwalian as other Nigerians that are all there. So what I could just pick there was Pidgin English but we have Ibo neighbours and they used to abuse me using their language like Onyeosi, Onyeara but I could not understand beyond that. So, there was that early childhood desire to know what other things they were saying about me. That was how I had desire to learn Igbo but I learnt Pidgin there, I learnt normal English and I learnt. My father was a civil servant in Warri, working as a teacher at Federal Government College, Warri. Eventually, he was transferred from there to Sokoto State. At Sokoto, I now made Hausa people my friends intentionally to learn the Hausa language and I enjoyed leaning the language. Actually, the Hausa language is a very simple language to learn and the people too would want to teach you the language, so I quickly learnt the language. I was in the North for ten years. All of my primary four to six and JSS1 to SS3 years were in the North. Then I came back to the North for my Youth Service in Kaduna. Nine years in Sokoto and one year in Kaduna. So I was able to, more or less, perfect the Hausa language. I went to Federal Government Sokoto for my Secondary school, while I was there, we did French in Junior class and in JSS3, I was like the best student in French but you know those childhood dreams of I want to be a doctor, I want to be engineer and so on, I went to Science class and I did Further Mathematics. So I couldn’t do French because there are some subjects you must combine together, so I had to drop French, it was painful. The pride of ‘I am a Further Mathematician’ robbed me of learning French in Secondary school. At that point, my parents had been transferred to the East, Owerri to be precise. So I joined them after finishing Secondary school in 1991. There, I started learning the Igbo language. I knew I had a short time because the plan was to study Agriculture in the West. So after Secondary school, I was thinking of becoming a medical doctor. So, I was taking JAMBs but could not meet up with cut off marks. Hence, I just aligned myself to my passion which is Agriculture. I like Agriculture, so I choose the course. While I was in the East, I stayed at home to learn and attend prep courses to prepare for JAMB. So, I didn’t really have the opportunity of mixing much with Igbo people but what I did was that, the church I attended they do interpretation there, so I when go to church, I go with an Igbo Bible and when they are reading in English, I am reading in Igbo even when I don’t understand, eventually when the interpreter reads, I would understand better. So I was doing that for about two to three years in the East. It was like I was in a language class and I also listen to radio a lot while I was in the East. There was Ibo Broadcasting Cooperation which had a lot of good music that I could flow with, so with that I was able to get the basics of Ibo language. From there I got admission into the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 1992. I have passion for Agriculture and that is why I went there. So while I was in university, I picked up the French again. I ran into a friend whose uncle came back from abroad and came with cassette and book in French and German. I heard the German was a difficult language, so I put it aside and faced French. The book is titled ‘French in Three Months’. I copied the cassette and book and I started to use it. It was a fantastic experience for me and the secret was to do thirty minutes every day. There were some foreign students I interacted with too and before I left the school, the school had recognized somebody who could speak French and started using me for school activities when they had international programs and things like that. So I graduated as the best graduating student in General Studies and you know GNS is Art. When I go to library to read, I read about different cultures in the world and I was very good and came out as the best student in General Studies with my passion for Agriculture and up till date I still practice my Agriculture but the language side has kept coming up. So, by 2006 people saw in me somebody with qualities of an MC but I never saw myself, and when I was invited for that wedding, it was fantastic. Thereafter, I started getting invitations which I was attending for free before people started giving me two thousand naira, and two thousand naira meant a lot to me then, later it was increased to five thousand naira. How many languages do you speak at the moment? Right now I speak the three major languages in Nigeria, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. Then I speak English naturally. If you count Pidgin, because it’s a language, at BBC, there is a station for Pidgin entirely. They pay people to broadcast in Pidgin. Then I do speak French, German and Spanish. That’s eight languages and of course I understand my local dialect too which is Ijebu. Adedeji Odulesi in BBC How did you later learn German and Spanish? For German, in 2016, an organization called me to come and anchor an event for them at Ilorin, so I went there and still did the language stuff and people were fascinated. Then, somebody walked up to me and spoke German to me and I didn’t understand anything but I felt that the language looks a bit like English so I told the person that the next time we meet I will be speaking the language. So that 2016, I met a corps member who was attending GOETHE institute. She told me about the institute and by September 2016, I started attending afternoon and evening classes for German. When we finished the first three months I was the best in my class and I was offered a scholarship to proceed to the next level. Those exams are A1 and A2 Beginner, B1 and B2 Intermediate and C1 and C2 Advanced. So I did A1 on scholarship and somebody else took A2 and I now did B1 which means my German is at Intermediate level. For Spanish, I didn’t really find any place to study. I study online and I have books. This one is called ‘Beginner Spanish’. I also learn by watching YouTube videos. Then, another secret of my learning is that I have a bible in every language that I speak. At any point in time I pick up any bible. So when I go to church, people are looking at me, you know at times, you look at the Bible in your friend’s hand and you don’t understand anything. So all those things helped me to improve on the languages. Have you looked beyond MC, like going into academics? Yes, it is really a futuristic plan because many people have approached me that I need to open an institution. I don’t really need to teach but I can get good hands and can easily monitor them because, I know what the language is all about. Do you have relationship with others in the industry? Sure, we must work hand in hand. If there is an evening program like a Gala Night, a comedian will be needed aside from the MC who will pilot the program to come and give five minutes jokes, we call them just like we will call cultural group to come and dance. So, there is a role for each person to play. What would you say is the best part about being a Polyglot? A Polyglot is someone who understands many languages, is that not so? So anywhere I go to, I find it easy to blend and to be spotted out because as I come across people, it may be by somebody’s intonation, I can easily tell, this person is an Ibo or this person is a Hausa. So the ability to interact is there, and then, it is very rewarding, people will want to relate with you because once you can speak someone’s language, the person will assume you are the same with him, so he accepts you. Hence, I have so many friends and have accessibility. I have eaten different kinds of foods and I have been to different places. You have 8 languages at your disposal that you speak, which other languages are you planning to learning? I am planning to learn Portuguese because it is very similar to Spanish, which means if a Portuguese is speaking I seem to get what they’re saying. It is just like someone speaking Egba and I am Ijebu, I seem to get what he’s saying. Then, I also want to learn Arabic and Swahili because they’re languages spoken in vast area in Africa. The whole of Eastern block of Africa speaks Swahili and the whole of the Northern block of Africa speaks Arabic, so those are the languages I want to learn and I like the way the languages sound too, It is not just that I want to learn them, there must be something that keys you to the language. A language might be spoken by the whole world and you don’t like the way it is spoken so you are not interested. Do you have any one you can refer to as key influence to your success? There is someone who has been very influential. Who has been like a mentor, a young man like me. Not that he makes me go to events, rather what he does is that anytime I have an event, I go to him that how do I anchor this kind of event and he says do it this way. So he’s been a generous mentor but a reserved person not wanting publicity. He is a senior colleague in the same industry. What are those challenges you have faced? You see, the languages themselves don’t come easy. Learning Hausa for instance, I found it so easy. Learning German for instance, I found it so difficult even though I was the best in the class and I got scholarship. I ran away from it at first but because of that challenge I got in 2016, I picked it up because I like challenges. Another challenge is Spanish. I hardly come across a Spanish speaker in Nigeria, unlike French. I meet French people all around, you even come across it being spoken on radio. And for German, you don’t too often meet German speakers, but at least, you know that GOETHE institute is here and when you go there you see people speaking German. But Spanish, though a simple language and easy to learn, you hardly come across people to speak it to in Nigeria. Then, another challenge is that people think those who speak many languages are 419. So you’re a corporate MC and passionate about Agriculture. What else do you do? Aside those two, I’m a minister, a pastor, a committed Christian and a gentleman (laugh). Do your wife and children speak more than one language as well? Interestingly, my wife is French teacher. We met basically via French learning. I went to a French speaking church. We had a French session, so I went there to improve my French and that’s where I met my wife. So we do French together. I also speak French and German with my two children, Chioma and Chinedu, at home, whether they understand or they don’t. Why Ibo names? Well, if you watch my video, I ended it by saying I am detribalized. It is another secret of learning languages. A real Polyglot is detribalized, he does not hate any tribe, and he does not claim any tribe. He relates freely with all cultures. He just happened to have been born in a particular culture. I could have even married an Ibo woman but I could not find but I married the one I saw that could also speak French. So I love the Ibos like I love the Hausas. So, my first child happens to be a girl and I named her Chioma Oluwademilade Odulesi and it’s in the birth certificate. She’s actually Jumaih in Hausa because she was born on Friday. She’s a complete Wazobia. My son is Adebola Chinedu Odulesi, the Chinedu is in the birth certificate too. What advice do you have for this generation or people who also want to learn more languages? Age is no barrier for learning a language, let that be gotten clear. It is how you plan your time and in fact as a mature adult, you have the ability to even learn better because there are gadgets all around you that you can use, YouTube, subtitle of movies. A child cannot do that. Why children learn fast is because they are unbiased and unashamed. Even the English they speak when they make mistake and you correct them they keep speaking it but we adults, we tend to be shy, if I make mistake people will laugh at me and you watch what you say. So age is not a barrier. There are many Apps you can download to learn the languages. What I will say to this generation is that, parents in particular, open your minds, do not say because the child is learning Yoruba, his English will be affected, no, if he is learning Yoruba at home, his English will be better because the brain now has capacity to accept more, the brain is like boxes. So parents should encourage their children. And when they travel for vacation, why do you keep going to English speaking countries? Go to France, Belgium or Spain for vacations. You can even go to Togo, Benin here or even the North if you can’t afford to travel abroad. So don’t be born in Oyo, primary school, Oyo, secondary school, Oyo, university, UI and get married there (laugh), they won’t even come to Lagos, everything about them is Oyo. So, broaden the mind, the mind has capacity to learn and then, it gives added advantage for employments.

When they left the Great Hall a few minutes later, Albus and Rose decided to go down to the lake to meet a few of their friends, so James returned to the common room alone. He knew that after spending hours on his broom tomorrow, the very last thing he would want to do was schoolwork, and he had a Herbology essay for Longbottom that he suspected would take hours to write.

He was right. Writing about the proper ways to care for, pick, and store fluxweed – and everything that could go wrong – was a lengthy and thoroughly tedious task.

People trickled downstairs throughout the morning. Most went outside to enjoy the nice weather, but many of his fellow seventh-years were also settled at tables or chairs around the room either completing their schoolwork or studying for N.E.W.T.s. When a group of fourth-years tried to start a game of exploding snap, they were shushed so vehemently that they left the common room altogether.

James found this atmosphere to be deeply depressing. He was tempted to set off a few firecrackers just to liven up the mood a little—his yearmates were taking N.E.W.T.s far too seriously, in his opinion.

Just as he was seriously contemplating going upstairs to get them, however, Roxanne slid into the seat across from him. “I wouldn’t, if I were you.”

He widened his eyes innocently. “What are you talking about?”

“I’m tempted, too,” she admitted quietly, tapping her fingers on the table. “It’s too quiet in here. But they won’t be any fun about it.”

“You’re probably right.” James threw down his quill in frustration.

“What were you thinking of doing, firecrackers?” she asked. He nodded, and she grinned. “I was, too. I made a joke about it to Caroline and Bethany, and they looked at me as though I’d suggested killing their very favorite pets.”

“Well, they need to loosen up.” He looked back at his essay in disgust. “I’m not even half-done. I can’t work in these conditions.”

Roxanne peered at his paper. “Have you been working on Longbottom’s essay since breakfast?” He nodded, and she sighed. “I thought it might take hours to write. I’d better start it.”

“Probably.”

She leaned down and pulled parchment, a quill, and ink out of her bag. “Cheer up. Hey, maybe we should turn Malfoy’s hair red again, that should be amusing. We haven’t done that in weeks.”

James considered that. Jinxing Scorpius Malfoy always did make his day a little more entertaining. “I think he’s getting tired of it,” he said after a moment. “Next time, he might turn my hair green or something.”

“Not likely.” Roxanne reached out and tapped the coin James had worn on a thick cord around his wrist since the autumn of their sixth year. Ironically, he’d originally gotten it because of Scorpius Malfoy, though at the time it had been Rose who really needed an unobtrusive shield charm - Scorpius had been looking for payback after the first jinx on his hair. These days, though, Rose didn’t really have to worry about Scorpius jinxing her.

He grinned. “I don’t see why he doesn’t get one, too. He’d never have to walk around looking ridiculous again.”

“He probably thinks that Fred would sell him a dud that wouldn’t shield him at all,” Roxanne said wisely. “Or worse.”

“Would he?” James asked curiously.

“Nah, Dad would kill him for selling faulty merchandise to a customer. Come on, we can turn it blue.”

He felt slightly cheered. “All right. Let’s finish Longbottom’s essay first, though. We still have Goldstein’s to do, too, and you know that we’re not going to want to do it tomorrow after we’ve been practicing all day.”

“You make too much sense,” she told him as she put her quill to the parchment.

“You’d be saying it if I wasn’t,” he pointed out.

“I make too much sense, too.”

An hour later, James was nearly finished, and Roxanne had made what she called “significant progress” despite looking out the window longingly every few minutes. He didn’t doubt her - Roxanne hid it well, but she was definitely one of the smartest and most productive people in his family. “Let’s take a break and get some lunch,” she suggested.

“Yeah, okay,” he said, putting his quill down and stretching his arms toward the ceiling. “Have I mentioned that I hate N.E.W.T.s?”

“No you don’t,” she said. “I do, though, I haven’t had time to go after anyone lately, and so many people have deserved it.”

“So Abigail Madley’s books kept disappearing last week for no reason?” he asked.

“Yes. Just like Sullivan Pickering just happened to wind up locked in a broom closet when he was patrolling the other night.”

“Oh, he deserved it, you know how he’s always going on and acting like a prefect badge makes him so much better than the rest of us,” James said dismissively. “He’s had it for almost a year, it was enough already.”

“Right. Just like Abigail Madley takes being Head Girl way too seriously. I miss Evy Greengrass, she had a sense of humour.”

James grinned as they exited the portrait hole. The last Head Girl had been a bit tense sometimes, but she’d also pointedly ignored some of their more flagrant rulebreaking. Albus had even let it slip at one point that she was quietly amused by her cousin’s ever-changing hair color. Either way, it had been preferable to Abigail’s lectures. “I’m starving,” he said as his stomach gave a loud rumble.

“So am I,” she said. “Hey, did you see that the Falcons hammered the Arrows?”

He groaned. “I really hate you.”

“Nah, you don’t. So, what color should we turn Malfoy’s hair?”

“I’m thinking red. It looks awful, he’s too pale to pull it off.”

“We could take pity on him and turn it green,” she said, considering.

James spotted his sister on the next flight of stairs. “Hey, Lily!” She looked up, and he asked, “Red or green?”

She grinned. “Sooner or later Al’s going to write home complaining and you’ll get another howler.”

He hadn’t considered that. “Excellent, I haven’t had one in over a month. People must think that I’m losing my touch. Red or green?”

“Red.” She continued on down the stairs. James probably <i>would</i> get a howler over this, but he didn’t especially care.

It wasn’t like he even disliked Scorpius Malfoy at this point. He had, of course; Scorpius had rubbed him the wrong way for years. Albus had been friends with him since starting at Hogwarts, but Al was friends with a lot of strange people James would never in a million years consider actually talking to. Or even acknowledging, really.

But things change.

Scorpius was far from James’s favorite person in the world, but he was all right, now that he wasn’t walking around accusing Gryffindors who weren’t Albus and a few of their yearmates of being arrogant and self-satisfied. Dating a Gryffindor seemed to have cured him of it.

That didn’t stop James from turning his hair amusing colors, of course.

Ten minutes later, Scorpius Malfoy was examining his distorted reflection in a suit of armor that stood outside the Great Hall. After a moment, he turned back to James. “You’re hilarious,” he said dryly. “Don’t you get tired of this?”

“Not particularly. It’s been weeks, you know, you should really be thanking me.”

Scorpius leaned against the wall next to the suit of armour and crossed his arms. “Why don’t you try it when I visit your brother this summer? Now, that would be funny.”

“Nah. Dad would kill me. That’s not funny at all.”

Roxanne appeared at his shoulder. “Oh, good, you found him.”

“Yes, he did.” Scorpius looked back at the suit of armor. “Why did you have to do <i>red?</i> It looks terrible, I hate it when you make it red.”

“Why haven’t you gotten a shield charm in Hogsmeade, then?” Roxanne asked.

“Your brother would probably just sell me a dud,” Scorpius said. “I don’t feel inclined to waste the money.”

James and Roxanne looked at each other. “Did you do Flint?” he asked.

She shook her head, looking perplexed.

James considered it for a moment longer before shrugging it off. “Bet it was your girlfriend.” The corners of Scorpius’s mouth twitched, and James added, “They all deserved it, anyway.”

Scorpius shrugged an acknowledgment. “Well, yeah,” he said. “Remember the time last year he tried to curse my nose off?”

“We helped you there,” James pointed out.

“Out of the goodness of our hearts,” Roxanne agreed, touching her hand to her chest.

“This really does look terrible,” Scorpius said, examining his hair again with a look of distaste. “Your heart’s on the other side,” he added distractedly to Roxanne.

“Not on me, it isn’t,” she told him, and he gave her a bemused look. After a moment, however, he seemed to decide not to comment; he and Roxanne had never quite gotten over their enmity in the same way that he and James had.

“At any rate, isn’t a nose worth the occasional week of strangely-colored hair?” James asked.

Scorpius shrugged. “Sure, if I thought I had to choose one or the other. As it happens, I don’t. How <i>do</i> you find the time? We’ve all been drowning under N.E.W.T. work.”

James shrugged, too. “I’m not worried about N.E.W.T.s,” he said casually. “I’ll do fine. Why should I waste time on studying? It would ruin all the fun in life.”

“Right.” Scorpius smoothed back his hair and glanced in the armour again. “This has been a great little chat. Thanks for the hair. I’m sure my girlfriend will really appreciate it.”

“She’ll just be amused,” James called after him. “She always is.”

Scorpius turned around and called back, “Sure, right, she loves it, because she’d prefer me to look more amusing than attractive. Just don’t be shocked if your brother isn’t the only one irritated at you - didn’t she yell at you last time you turned it red?”

James had somehow managed to forgot that. He glanced at Roxanne, who was staring after Scorpius with a sour expression on face. “Git.”

“Yeah, well. Do you really think Rose will be annoyed at us?”

“Nah. Come on, let’s go eat, I’m starving.”

Hey, three weeks ago, I got into a car accident and rear ended someone in the front with suv. Loupedeck for Adobe Lightroom 6 & CC

Loupedeck is awesome, Loupedeck is great, Loupedeck makes me a better retoucher simply because its rekindled my love of RAW processing and as sad as it sounds I do actually love what I do which is mostly retouching photos.

Now that's a pretty open and shut statement to start an article with but it's important to not waste your time thinking you're about to read (or not) anything other than a positive look at what I think is a positive step forward in the photo manipulation world.

Why Lightroom? (warning: sob story coming up)

Here's something that's important to understand about why I use Lightroom. I use Lightroom for retouching at speed! I've been a dedicated user since it was in beta, what must have been 10 years ago, which is about the same time I started shooting property and weddings. Disciplines which both require retouching a high volume of images in a very short time. 

Over the years after sitting up all night after a busy day shooting retouching hundreds of images into the early hours knowing I had to get them finished and send off before doing the same thing all over again in just a few hours I looked for ANY way to get through pictures quicker. I used actions, presets, tried other software, tried outsourcing, tried enlisting help from other photographers. My own wife (who's a doctor and nothing to do with photography) even at one point after seeing me constantly working and not sleeping more than a few hours every night asked if I could teach her how to retouch so she could help. So I come from a place of  "Please for the love of all that is good someone design something to make my life easier!"

AND SO ALONG COMES LOUPEDECK......

Loupedeck was orginally a 'indiegogo' project (and how I wish I'd known about it back then just look at the backer perks! I would've loved that trip to try it out with the hotel) 

I'd read about several other editing console products for Lightroom in the past and they all looked... ok. I think it was a facebook post featuring an article about Loupedeck's first finished units being shipped that caught my attention. I was getting very bored with Lightroom, sounds odd yes, but truly I was. Day in, day out, I would use the same trusty presets, do the same things, with the same sliders on my Wacom Tablet. I even took to using Apps like 'be focused pro' to try to challenge myself by improving my productivity. I had overlays for my keyboard from amazon, shortcuts assigned to the wacom tablet, but I still wondered if I could work faster - yet maintain the same quality. 

Whilst on holiday I started watching youtube videos of people using Loupedeck. They were all very simple reviews that didn't really show me the actual unit properly. I wanted to see all the knobs and know if it was possible to use two or more at once. I started writing to loupedeck and Felix a very kind and helpful rep started writing back. A week into my holiday I thought 'Ah to hell with it! I spent the money and ordered 'my' Loupedeck.

5 - 7 days later....

It's here! It came in two boxes. The first is white with Loupedeck printed on it and inside that a black embossed box again with the words Loupedeck. I'm not going to go into anymore details here, whilst like it's design it's a box... many others on youtube will do far better justice to it in unboxing sessions.

Straight away I download the firmware for my mac and plug the unit into a usb port. A light came on, I opened Lightroom to be greeted with a message

'Loupedeck thinks you look great today'   Well thank you Loupedeck that's very kind. A window pops up presenting me with options to customise Loupedeck. 

I assign the top P buttons to presets, C1 dial to perspective correction, C2 button to gradient, and C3 to Radial gradient. That should do me for the moment. That's about it from there you can leap straight into things.

One pretty cool function I didn't know it did - If you press any of the dial it resets that value, for example if I spin a colour wheel and don't like what I've done rather than spin it back again I just press down on it it makes a satisfying 'click' and the value returns to 0. 

All dials and wheels spin and turn 360 degrees which is good. Whilst I'm on this subject the turning mechanism and indeed dials are really well made. It doesn't feel loose or that they are going to come off anytime soon. Some of the buttons are a little stiff on rare occasions, my right arrow key for example tends to get slightly stuck but I think this is isolated to my unit and is the type of thing that would happen to any product you buy it's really not a big deal but it's the only negative I can find to the mechanical function of the unit. 

  The main unit is made of plastic, it's light and means when I'm working with the unit and my hands are resting on it it is not cold like aluminium might be. A few things at this point I would have liked. The first is a detachable USB cable like my wacom tablet, just incase the usb wire fails I would normally just replace it but when it's attached to the device I'd have to send it back to repairs. Better yet bluetooth.  My only other criticism of the construction is the groove with holds the wire might be better if it let the wire sit a little deeper, mine tends to pop out ever so slightly.

So down to it , I started retouching some images. Within ten minutes I work out this isn't something you can just start twiddling the knobs and dials of and expect it to make you infinitely quicker than you were before. You have to learn where everything on the device is just like typing on a keyboard, at first you have to keep looking down looking at the letters you're typing then back up at the screen to check you've put them in the right order, but the more you practice the more you learn where those letters are and before you know it you're just staring at the screen typing and moving your fingers by instinct. It took me just over a month to get to that place with Loupedeck but when I did... 'wow'.. yes I was able to work much quicker than before.

  I found I was working dials in groups of two, I'd be pulling the blacks down and the whites up simultaneously The same with the shadows and highlights, contrast and clarity, in fact at one point I realised I started using the edge of my palm pulling down the blacks whilst my little finger pulled up the shadows and my other hand the highlights! 

Using the colour wheels is also incredibly quick! In my job at certain times of the year or after certain weather like rain the camera has a tendency to capture grass as a very bright yellow. When this happens I typically pull the luminance of the yellow down then the hue of the yellow up (to make it more green), then the saturation to the yellow down slightly to bring it back to the green colour that it should be, in the past that would involve a lot of clicking and sliding the panels with the graphics tablet, now i press the appropriate button to select 'lum', 'hue', or 'sat', and just to the right of them are all my colour wheels perfect! The led light to the side of lum, hue, and sat is incredibly useful. I do wish the colour wheels had some of these faint led's or something to illuminate them in the dark. I tend to dim all lights and cut out external light sources when retouching so that external light and colours don't influence the light and colours I'm seeing on the screen.

Now I know I said I can use the dials without looking, but that's also partly because they are well spread out. I love the set up of the colour wheels and I wouldn't want it changed but it is more difficult to know which wheel goes with which colour without looking. I have slight issues with the darker blue. I kept getting it mixed up with the colour to the right of it in dim lighting, I manipulate the colour blue a lot so in the end I put a tiny glow in the dark dot on my unit so a very quick glance down confirms where that colour is.

All the other buttons on the unit work really well. I particularly like the way you can swap between rating images by colour or numbers and by clicking between the two options you get an on screen message.

There are two Zoom buttons, I kind of wish one of these had been replaced with something else like 'select WB point' or even better another custom dial! The custom dial is a really strong point of the unit and by pressing the Fn key you can assign this custom dial another function which can be set up in the Loupedeck options menu.

Performance...

You can customise how fast Loupesdeck reacts based on how fast or slow you spin dials (I'm not sure what I've just typed makes sense??)  basically... you can change the settings so that a small turn makes a BIG change on the slider or the other way around - dial sensitivity.. I can't think of another way to describe it. I've not played around with it too much as I'm used to how the dials work by default. One thing I do find is the more confident I get the more I start trying to spin dials and wheels really fast. It backfires on me in that the particular dial or wheel will adjust the slider up and then it'll 'rubber band' back down again. That's my bad 'bull in a china shop' mentality. Whats better practice is to work quickly but to not go too nutts on the unit. 

Changes you make on Loupedeck adjust incredibly quickly on screen no real lag at all (unless its Lightroom lag which you'd get whether you were using the unit of not). One thing that does happen is as you make adjustments don't expect the visual sliders on the right to show up if they're not currently on your screen. So if my colour sliders menu is closed and I adjust the colour wheels on Loupedeck the panel doesn't open up on the screen, you'd have to actually click it open to see this (or press a key board short cut should one exist for that panel). If this happens and you're working quickly not wanting to click open panels you can't see then you can adjust be sight.

slightly off topic RANT WARNING!..

Any sort of performance issues I experienced are based more on Adobe's relationship with Apple which I think has plagued Lightroom for a good few years now. I remember back in 2014 when we bought new imacs with the new screens only to find Lightroom was';t compatible with the high resolution screens meaning we had to either reduce the resolution of the screen or make the windows substantially smaller to get a smooth Lightroom working environment. The same thing has happened again. I'm currently on a mid 2017 imac and as soon as Lightroom cc Classic dropped I noticed a huge increase in Lag I won't go into that now, only that the issue became so incredibly frustrating it actually made me revert back to Lightroom 6 as a stand alone copy and eventually move my RAW workflow mostly to Capture One Pro.

Rant over and back to Loupedeck.

There's a nifty little export button on the unit, all it does is open the export window, again I think it could've been used for something else, however as it's there I do use it, and I challenge anyone not to get the weirdest sense of joy pressing it when you're done, it's the strangest thing.

PRESETS

Loupedeck comes with some Lightroom presets, I've not used them. I tend to make my own presets rather than use other peoples, for no other reason than I just don't. So using them I've no idea if they're good or not since I've not any experience of using others in that regard it's wrong for me to judge them, but just to say they're there if you want to have a look once you buy the unit.  

BUYING AND PRICE

Several places sell Loupedeck now a google search would show you UK stockists. I got mine directly from the website and it arrived in a week, I'm sure I remember paying close to 329 euros but currently on their site it's 249 euros, so in my opinion that's really very good value.

Loupedeck with other RAW editing software.

So when I was completely fed up with Lightroom Classic cola CC or whatever they're calling it at the moment. I wrote to the guys and gals at Loupedeck to ask if they had any plans to expand to other software. I'll be honest my love of this unit is the only thing still keeping me hanging on to Adobe's raw processing software at this point. They wrote back to say they are currently in talks with some other companies.

Then last month a very clever person posted on a facebook group I'm a member of they had got Loupedeck working with Capture One. Incredibly excited I got all the info and gave it a go myself.

Now basically what this clever person did was to program Loupedeck as a midi device with some purchaseable software called 'Bome'. You then just reassign the dials and buttons to Capture one functions. And 'by golly gosh' it actually works!... Ok so the colour wheels don't actually do what they're meant to do but are just assignable as buttons, and YES I accept you could just get any midi device for far cheaper and do the same but I have Loupedeck so thought I'd try it, it's just a fun thing.

Something pretty cool I was able to do was to assign brush size adjusting to a dial, it's incredible smooth and easy to use. This made me think, if Loupedeck 2 should ever appear how about a brush size dial?!

Using Bome in no way gets rid of Loupedecks proper software you just need to remember to close bome before opening Lightroom. It's a bit of fun but no substitute for the real thing of using Loupedeck with it's proper dedicated software with Lightroom.

Loupedeck alternatives

Loupedeck is awesome why on earth would you want to use anything else?! :) Incase you do or like me you're slowly watching Adobe doing weird and wonderful things with Lightroom, and change your RAW editing software here are some others you can look at (sources and prices are correct as of December 2017) Please note: I've not used any of these I'm just putting them out there for anyone to research further should they desire, it's actually this research that lead to me end up buying Loupedeck.

I found out about these whilst researching control devices for Capture One, lots of variety. Prices range from £300 - a lot of money :)

 BEHRINGER MINI X-TOUCH (OR OTHER MIDI DEVICES)

The cheapest option but also the most manual set up needed, you basically plug these 'bad boys' in and assign controls from lightroom to the buttons and dials. I did order one in July from Amazon for £50 but after a month of waiting I gave up and bought Loupedeck instead. There are lots of guides about how to set these up on youtube, but obviously you run the risk of it stopping working after Lightroom updates. People seem to like the model to the left because like Loupedeck the dials are unobstructed.

 So there you have it

There are other options out there but despite this I'd still buy Loupedeck in a heartbeat. I think it's incredibly well priced, it just works (unlike apple and adobes relationship these days it seems) it is constantly being worked on with positive updates and it is most definitely becoming more and more popular, appearing in more shops and online outlets all the time. 

As I am quite passionate about this device I will keep my eyes peeled for any new developments in the Loupedeck camp with updates and new products so do check back here for any new news. Or lets be honest you could just check on their site.. Check here or there it makes no difference, they're worth your attention and keeping your photographic eyes on in the future.

GGS Spotlight: Jen De Mel

Name: Jen de Mel Age: 37 Location: London, UK

What does being a Girl Gone Strong mean to you? Being a Girl Gone Strong means feeling powerful instead of small. It means having confidence and being proud of what my body can do, and feeling good in my own skin.

When I think of GGS, I think about smart training and about having more meaningful training goals based on performance.

Being a GGS means influencing other women to accept and be proud of their bodies and not wanting to be a different body type that the one they have been blessed with.

How long have you been strength training, and how did you get started? I’ve been strength training since 2010, when I lost interest in doing things that made my body feel bad, such as partying too often and became more interested in doing things that made me feel good, such as training and being kind to myself.

What does your typical workout look like? Full-body workouts mainly strength with a cardio intervals finisher. For example…

Warm-up and mobility for the first 15 minutes:

Cat/Camel

Thoracic mobility, such as open book

Hip mobility, such as fire hydrants

Glute activation such as clamshells, hip bridge, x-band walks

Core activation such as bird dog, moving planks, dead bugs

Training session, 30 to 45 minutes. I prefer supersets because they feel more metabolic:

A1. Chin-Up 3xAMRAP A2. BB Split Squat 3×10

B1. Push-Up 3×10 B2. Romanian Deadlift 3×10

Finisher :30/:30 work/rest ratio

C1. Moving Plank C2. Kettlebell Swing C3. Ski Erg

By the way, the above is not an example of a typical pregnancy workout! Those are my typical go-to exercises if I’m not following a specific program. Pregnancy workouts have been shorter.

Warm-Up/Mobility:

A hip opener such as 90/90 split squat, pigeon stretch, and fire hydrant

Glute and core activation

Training session, 3-4 sets of 10 reps each:

A1. Seated Row A2. Goblet Squat or Romanian Deadlift A3. Alternating Leg Lowering or Band-Resisted Bird Dog A4. Hip Bridge variations

Finish with Intervals, 8-10 sets of :20/:40 work/rest ratio (usually ski erg and kettlebell swings), or with 30 minutes of steady-state cardio depending on time available.

Favorite Lift: Romanian Deadlift. What’s not to love? It’s a full-body, compound movement and teaches you a great movement pattern of the hip hinge while building great strength in the hamstrings, glutes, core, and lats.

Most memorable PR: In the gym: six weighted chin-ups with 10 kilos. Outside of the gym (water skiing): 5.5 bouys at 34 miles per hour on the slalom course.

Do you prefer to train alone or with others? Why? Both. I like training alone, but I get more motivated when I train with others. I enjoy mixing up my usual routine.

Most embarrassing gym moment: Almost falling off the treadmill because the endorphins and song I was listening to got me feeling so high that I closed my eyes momentarily and lost my balance.

Most memorable compliment you’ve received lately: Someone called me “superwoman” because I’m six months pregnant and still super active and hosting a large family gathering at the last minute while making it look easy (It wasn’t. My feet were throbbing and most of the dishes were overcooked!)

Most recent compliment you gave someone else: “You’re the best!” to my dog Tyson. That doesn’t count? OK, I told my sister that she is brilliant in times of crisis, and she has held our family together during a traumatic event.

Favorite meal: Fish (like seabass) and greens. Boring, I know, but I eat it every day and don’t get bored. I was gutted when I had such a strong aversion to it during my first trimester of pregnancy.

Favorite way to treat yourself: Pregnancy massages are my favorite way to relax these days.

What inspires and motivates you? People who are challenged physically and achieve more than most, such as Bethany Hamilton (a champion surfer who lost her arm to a shark and became a world champion surfer anyway). Overcoming that kind of adversity rather than letting fate deal you a cruel card is ridiculously inspiring and always makes get it together if I start to feel sorry for myself.

What do you do? I am a pre- and postnatal fitness coach, and a corporate ethics consultant. And

What else do you do? I am crazy about slalom water skiing. It’s the feeling of being on the water, the sunshine, spending the day hanging out at the lake with friends, the exhilaration, and adrenaline of the sport, competing against myself, trying to control the inner monkey who keeps trying to sabotage my best passes by telling me not to mess it up. Plus, I just think it’s the coolest sport in the world, and because it’s not that big or popular you can actually get quite close to the champions who inspire you!

Describe a typical day: I wake up at 6:30 and go to the gym. Then I take Tyson (our mini schnauzer) for a walk in the communal garden, where he plays with all the other dogs. Just watching him being so playful makes me feel happy, so it’s such a great way to start the day.

I pick up some coffee for Priyan (my husband) and me from Coffee Plant (best coffee on the famous Portobello Road in Notting Hill!) and go home to make us breakfast at around 9 a.m., before I wash and settle down for work and household chores, etc.

The rest of the day seems to slip by until it’s time for dinner at around 7 p.m. after Priyan has taken Tyson out for his second walk. Then we relax and watch some TV. Usually, Priyan is watching football, and I’ll be looking at social media our reading unless there’s a new season of House of Cards or Game of Thrones to watch!

Your next training goal: Being six months pregnant, my current training goal is learning and practicing body positivity — regardless of how many kilos I am gaining — and training for function rather than performance. But I’m dying to get super fit again next year and prepare for “Women’s Week” in Orlando, in September 2018 with the female world champion water-skier, Whitney McClintock. I want to smash my personal best on the slalom course and start shortening rope lengths.

For what are you most grateful? Good health for me, family, and friends.

Of what life accomplishment do you feel most proud? There was a time in my life when I was down in the dumps after suddenly losing my dad to cancer, and I was low on self-esteem, drinking too much, and not being good to myself. I decided I needed to get out of the rut and in the space of a few months turned my whole outlook on life around through exercise, holistic therapies, and nutrition. It helped me become happy, confident, and relaxed.

Which three words best describe you? My best friend and husband are hanging out next to me while I’m answering this, so I asked them to answer for me. They said “fun, loyal, and adventurous.”

What’s a risk you’ve taken recently, and how did it turn out? Having the courage to walk away from a well-compensated legal career at a company where I worked for 10 years to pursue my dreams of being a strength and conditioning coach.

How has lifting weights changed your life? Lifting weights has helped me make the shift from training solely for aesthetics and burning calories to training for function and performance, which is a far more consistent, satisfying, and empowering goal for me.

What’s the coolest “side effect” you’ve experienced from strength training? Feeling fearless and bad-ass!

What do you want to say to other women who might be nervous or hesitant about strength training? There’s absolutely nothing to lose by asking one of the trainers in the gym to show you how to perform a lift with proper form. If they’re not busy training clients, they will gladly help you out, that’s our job! It could transform the way you train. If you’ve never tried it before, you’ll love how much you will improve and get stronger and see your body (and your mind) transform quite quickly! Proper form is key, and there are always ways to improve. It’s 100 percent worth asking a trainer or investing in a few training sessions to learn the ropes.

G'night <3 - HarryxSister

Hi!!!! So... It's been what - like 250-something days since I last posted? What happened? Well

1: I graduated 'high school'/'upper secondary school' (it's not exactly the same here in Sweden, but... you know? ;)

2: I received an A on my C1 advanced test

3: I passed all tests, and finally got my driving/driver's license...

4: I got into UNI, wihooo :D

it's been a busy few months, to say the least :)

But I'm back! I wouldn't call this the best thing I've ever written, but I still feel like it's good enough to post. I'm also working on a few other projects, so keep an eye out for that ;)

Note: I will probably have to reread this one more time and check for potential errors, but it's late, so I'm just going to trust Grammarly and post it for now! Enjoy

It was raining. Again. But not just ‘raining’ - it was POURING DOWN - and despite the castle not being surrounded by dementors this year, everything still felt… dark? Cold? Something was changing, and though the ministry refused to listen, Lucy was sure that it was a direct consequence of Voldemort’s recent return. She hadn’t slept well the past few months due to nightmares intruding and disturbing her as soon as she started drifting off, thus explaining why she was still awake despite it being almost three AM.

She shifted slightly and used her right hand to push her long, red hair out of her face. She didn’t find herbology particularly interesting but had decided to use the night to finish as much homework as possible. It’s not healthy, but if you’re unable to sleep, why not be productive instead? Lucy kept writing but was suddenly interrupted by a voice whispering her name.

“Lucy…?

She turned around, accidentally knocking her bottle of ink over in the process, muttered a quick ‘shit’, and spotted a certain redhead on the staircase leading to the boys’ dormitory.

“Oh, Hey, Ron…”, she mumbled as her close friend quietly made his way to the sofa and sat down next to her. “Why are you up? I didn’t wake you, right?”

“No..?”, he said while placing the now empty bottle on the table. Lucy waved her wand swiftly and watched the black-ish liquid disappear from the red carpet beneath them. “No, I woke because of the storm - listen, why're you still up?”

Lucy sighed deeply and leant her head backwards while rubbing her eyes tiredly. She could feel Ron staring at her, but opted for silently looking out the window instead of meeting her friend’s questioning gaze.

“Luce? C’mon…”

“Can’t sleep… It’s really not more complicated than that. I know I won’t fall asleep, so why try?”

“Oh my-! Lucy!”. Ron grabbed Lucy’s left arm and turned her around so she was facing him. “Usually you’re better, but occasionally you’re just as hopeless as Harry. You can’t just… I don’t know - stay awake forever?! I… Have you at least talked to him about it?”

“Are you crazy!?”, she whispered angrily. “Ron, of course I haven’t. Do you honestly think that would help either of us?”

“Yes! Yes, I do! Lucy, I want to help you, but I really don’t think I can. Now, I don’t know how many nights you have gone without sleep, but I do know that your brother has woken me up pretty much every night these past few weeks. Since the two of you are clearly having the same problem, maybe you sho-”

Lucy had closed her eyes and was leaning ever so slightly away from Ron whose voice had gotten louder and harsher. She wasn’t usually so… fragile? Sensitive? However, her abnormal childhood had left its mark on her, and it got especially bad when people she knew well were angry or frustrated. Ron knew this but realized his mistake too late.

“Hey, Luce.”, he mumbled, now much calmer. He slowly moved his hand towards her and placed it carefully on her shoulder once he was sure she didn’t flinch or recoil. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Listen, I just worry, okay? About both of you. Seriously Lou - I’m aware that a lot is going on, but Harry wakes up in nightmares if not every, then every other night, and you’re not sleeping at all - it’s not healthy. It’s not always easy to ask for help, but maybe you don’t have to do everything alone all the time? You have friends, Lou! We’ll always listen, but if you don’t think we’ll understand, Harry definitely will. Do me a favour, if you don’t wanna talk to me, talk to him, please?

Lucy took a shaky breath, moved closer to Ron and let her head rest on his shoulder. He put his arms around her and began gently playing with her hair.

“Thanks”

They sat for a moment, doing nothing but watching the moonlight shining through the window and enjoying each other's company. Ron was about to ask Lucy something when he noticed the girl slowly drifting off to sleep with her head on his shoulder. He pushed some of her hair behind her ear and listened to her steady breathing. It was calming somehow, and Ron would have fallen asleep himself if not for the sound of his name being called from behind.

“Ron?”

Turning around quickly, yet carefully, Ron’s eyes met his best friend’s.

“Harry.. Ehm.. Why’ru awake?”

“Nightmare…”, said Harry slowly, noticing his sister sleeping soundly on the sofa. “What’s your excuse?”

“Ehmm…”, mumbled Ron, shifting awkwardly. “I-She-I woke up and heard something, so I went down here and found her still doing homework. Has apparently been sleepin’ just about as good as you.”

Harry sighed and rubbed his face tiredly. “I asked her about that a few days ago… said she was fine. Why wouldn’t she tell me?”

“My best guess? She probably didn’t wanna bother you. To be honest, mate, it’s not like it’s been an easy year or anythin’.”

“She could never bother me!”, exclaimed Harry, probably a bit too loud. “She knows that!?”

“Shhh…”, mumbled Ron uncomfortably. “We should probably let her sleep… Look, are you saying you talk to her every time you have a bad dream or… you know - feel down?”

“I guess not, but…”

“Then why are you expecting her to?”

Ron moved Lucy and put her head down on the armrest before standing up.

“Look, maybe if you tell her about your struggles she’ll tell you about hers? I don’t know, maybe I’m the wrong person to ask, but it sounds about right to me…?”

“Yeah…”, muttered Harry. “I guess b-”

He turned around quickly when he heard Lucy mumble something incoherent.

“Hey, Luce?”. He walked closer to the sofa and squatted down by his sister, who was now sweating and whimpering softly - clearly suffering from a bad dream. Harry shook her gently, but she moved away from his touch as her breathing became rapid and shallow.

“Lu...”, Harry sighed deeply before taking both of Lucy’s hands into his own. He hated the thought of his sister struggling so but knew from experience that it was inevitable. She suddenly inhaled sharply and sat up.

She looked around frantically, but Harry brought her into his arms and hugged her tightly.

“Shhh… Shh, Lou, you’re fine. I’ve got you, I’ve got you…”

She was breathing even faster and struggled against him, but Harry simply tightened his hold.

“Hey, hey, Lu? Shhh… Shhh… Lucy! Look at me, please?”

Their eyes met, and eventually, Lucy calmed down enough to breathe normally. She sighed deeply and leant her forehead against her older brother’s torso. The common room was completely silent until Ron decided to awkwardly clear his throat and mutter something about going back to bed.

Harry and Lucy remained quiet for a while, but eventually, Lucy decided to speak up.

“I’m sorry, Harry. I’m so sorry…”

“Lu, don’t apologize, please! You haven’t done anything wrong.”

“I know, bu-”

“No”, said Harry, to which Lucy sighed.

“But”, she continued. “I still feel silly every time it happens.”

“I get it, Lu, you know I do. And I know it’s hard to talk about, but… You help me all the time - would it kill you to let me do the same?”

“Philosopher much?”, said Lucy with a slight smile. “You’re right, though… I guess I should have told you, it’s just...“

“Again, Luce, I get it! Listen, why don’t we both try to get a couple of hours of sleep and then talk tomorrow? It sounds like we might both need it, okay?”

“Yeah”, yawned Lucy, now realizing just how tired she actually was. The thought of going to sleep still frightened her, but knowing that her brother was close made her feel comfortable enough to give it a try.“Sounds good to me. G’night Haz.”

“Night, Lu. Love you”
