I love how Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse said “Anyone can be Spider-Man”. I love how it inspired everyone to imagine their own Spider-People, saving the day in their own universes, with all kinds of cool, interesting personalities and aesthetics and mutations and life stories and relationships. We all put pieces of our soul into these homemade heroes. We had fun. We found community. And then Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse said, “Wow, great job! You’ve really taken our message to heart. Well, get ready for even more of everything you liked from the first movie and a new message to complement the first. Anyone can be Spider-Man… and anyone can be pulled into a cult.”

So now we all have to contemplate whether our lovingly crafted heroes would ever be on Team Mandatory Trauma Because Martyr Complex or not and why.

#i for one made a second spider-person (diving belle) right after watching atsv #who IS on team mandatory trauma for reasons that make sense given her moral code and its context #her world has eldritch horror elements that give some of her enemies a sharper edge #and she has had to use lethal force #in a ‘stays true to her strict morality based around compassion nonetheless’ way like wonder woman #she’s used to tough utilitarian decisions #she’s learned that no hero can save everyone from intensely traumatic brushes with mind-breaking corruptive power #so when miguel gave his big speech she was ‘yeah okay. i get it. sometimes shit just happens’#it was actually very enjoyable going through the character creation process #from the starting point of ‘WOULD chase miles and restrain him by force’#and then working toward ‘otherwise a genuinely good person and superhero who could be the star of her own series’#atsv #spider man across the spider verse #across the spiderverse #spider-verse #smatsv #sm: atsv #spiderverse #spidersona

Decided to watch a “found footage horror film” posted to youtube called Milk & Serial and i’m not even 3 minutes in and it’s so bad bro i actually burst out laughing at how bad it is i can’t wait to watch this

#sid rants #sid watches #gd i love bad found footage movies #they have all the elements of how to make a ff horror movie but they can’t actually grasp it #they don’t give any real justification for continuing to film #the camera angles act like they’re sloppy to seem like a person holding a camera but they’re too perfectly centered on the action-#-to be believable #the camera will also be right in someone’s face while the camera operator is trying to talk to them #like no one is going to take anyone seriously that is recording them that close #or when people pretend they can’t see a camera if/until the plot demands it when it should be in plain view #hell even the thing they’re recording on this movie is not warranting being recorded this extensively #also no excuse is given for the jump cuts bc it isn’t the camera switching on and off when the operator does #but also if it’s ’found footage’ why would it have been edited?#basically they thought making a ff movie would be easier so they did it #and it was not well executed

#kh #ok but genuinely i think about aquas role in bbs and 0.2 so so so so much #theres that one cutscene in the keyblade graveyard where ven gets frozen and terra gets hit with the old keyblades and aqua saves him #she is fucking POWERFUL #ventus getting his shit kicked in and thrown off a cliff and terra getting barraged #and AQUA SAVING THEM BOTH??? HER MAGIC IS SO POWERFUL IT LITERALLY STOPPED HOW MANY KEYBLADES THAT WERE GOING FULL FORCE #theres also a quote from the nort reports in bbs saying 'let his darkness strengthen the light and the light deepen the darkness' about ter #and i think CONSTANTLY about how easily that couldve been twisted to fit aqua; someone already blindly following eraqus's tutelage #to a fault. she also proved she was stronger than terra enough to become a master. all of this to say #I THINK ABOUT A BBS WHERE AQUA HAD A SIGNIFICANT ROLE AS A POTENTIAL VESSEL SINCE XEHANORT DID CONSIDER IT I BELIEVE IN ONE NORT REPORT #and even if she didnt get norted. 0.2 makes me LOSE IT i swear to god this is literally her in THE hell dimension and slowly losing herself #i know its a kids game but like. a 0.2 horror-esque game (moreso than some of the elements it already uses) wouldve been INCREDIBLE #and dont get me started on how i think 0.2 shouldve ended tragically and with aqua at least hinted to falling to darkness #and not in a single scene in kh3 that is literally not even about her. im so fucking mad about anti aqua in kh3 still #thank you for giving me an outlet to rant about aqua im. !!!!!!!!!!! i need to stop talking about five nights at freddys

#do i think the story is good? no #did i think the movie was good? also no #<- it was so fun though i just think if u took away the Five Freddy Nights on the big screen element it was kind of a mid tier horror film #which is fine i wasnt expecting it to blow my dick and balls off #idk why i keep talking about it ! i think its just second nature to me !#its not. a good game series. its interesting metatextually and theres some story beats that still make me go Okay that went hard as fuck #connection terminated u will ALWAYS be famous #theres good shit in there but to understand the good shit u have to watch 7 hours of lore videos and that is. not worth it for this one imo #also earlier my coworker was like dont watch the fnaf movie itll give u nightmares.#i was like One of my biggest criticisms is that there wasnt enough people getting murked by big robots #anyway tag ramble whoops. sorry everyone it will happen again #red.txt

i gotta say, 13 hours into omori, i don't get why people call it a horror game

#omori #like there's been occasional creepy scenes but they're usually quite short especially compared to the broader tone of the game #it does have a serious story. about like. trauma and failing friendships? that i'm really intrigued by as it slowly uncovers #like maybe it leans further into horror elements as the game goes on but i gotta say the elements that do exist aren't enough for me #to explicitly call it 'horror'#don't get me wrong i love this game and i love the spooky moments they're really fun!#i just went thru the train ride bit which was pretty fun i liked how the shadow at the end says the name of ur real-world character #even though ur playing as omori in the dream world #also no spoilers but it's unclear to me as of now if omori is just haunted by the memory of his sister's death #or if her spirit is Actually haunting him #also i had flowers and i thought maybe i cld put them on her grave but it didn't give me the option #also i loved the moment where kel talks about hero's depression and the way he himself was overlooked by h #their parents #man. i love all these characters so much #god the scene where aubrey fights you in the church and the whole time all the churchgoers are whispering about how terrible she is #i felt so bad for her man #also her design in the real world is cool as hell #also i actually lost to aubrey during the church scene but i didn't get a game over she just let me be and left #omori spoilers #i know the game is old-ish but my wording may have implied i wasn't going to spoil and i totally did #what i meant was don't tell me abt the future story of the game i'm only on 'three days left'

Unnamed Dolls (ep.2)

After deciding to rewatch the old series in retrospect I never really thought much on these two dolls used as an example in episode 2 of the 2004 Rozen Maiden anime to explain the Alice Game...Of course we know the anime didn’t follow the manga perfectly, but I really wished we could have seen more dolls! Apparently Peach Pit designed many more during the initial design period of the manga, but cut it down to just the seven we know in canon. There doesn't seem to be any actual concept art of these dolls from any of the art books, sadly. I’m glad we got to see an “8th doll” in Keikujaku for the Pullip design contest and a bit of the “step-sister” doll in Tefuko -- Maybe some day there’ll be hope for another contest or even a new generation/next line of dolls that have no relation to the Alice Game 😭 If not I guess I might have to design some myself 👀

#rozen maiden #I do be hyperfixating #the plot of the anime and the manga honestly left a lot to be desired but in my dreams theres more of a focus on the historical elements #and psychological implications of the dolls and their relationships with their mediums #I never actually cared much for the actual Alice game or the convoluted plot elements #I just want to see more kinds of mediums and dolls I think #just living a more mundane life and exploring interpersonal relationships in a historical setting #that's part of why I loved Yumiko Kawahara's Plant Dolls so much #give me Rozen Maiden as a psychological supernatural horror that still has CGDCT

+ Bonus initial sketches for Mer! I feel like I can be looser with pencil than in digital so a lot of my design work usually starts off on paper before i do a digital version. The main thing I wanted to get was the many eyes motif I see in a lot of the watcher!grian designs i was inspired by, and I landed on the notion that maybe the scales turn into eyes? Idk

#the ape man #1943 #american cinema #horror film #william beaudine #karl brown #barney a. sarecky #bela lugosi #louise currie #wallace ford #henry hall #minerva urecal #emil van horn #j. farrell macdonald #wheeler oakman #ralph littlefield #jack mulhall #charles jordan #ernest morrison #sam katzman #sought this out as my diet of video nasties and modern splatter films was starting to make my soul sickly and i wanted to rekindle my #love of universal style classic horrors (this isn't a universal film but features a lot of the same cast and crew that were working for #them). alas... it just isn't very good. the sight of Lugosi with a furry face and a bad case of 'kind of ape like' was presumably meant to #inspire terror in an audience but it just made me feel a little sorry for him (a decade earlier he'd been a legitimate sex symbol)#he's still giving his all‚ stooped over and muttering menacingly‚ but it's all a little too shabby and a little too silly to have any real #kind of impact. a truly bizarre element of the film is the inclusion of a sort of all knowing audience cypher who routinely pops up to #point the heroes in the right direction (and whose identity is a nutso twist i won't spoil) but that aside there's little fresh or #original going on here. there's also a gorilla‚ played by a man in a bad gorilla suit‚ but that's all so charmingly badly done that #i honestly don't mark the film down for it; it's a weirdly endearing bit of cinematic incompetence that actually adds to the film's #(very limited) appeal

omg hello fellow ardyn-lover!! <3 ahhhhh yeah ire is my oc 👉👈 she's my oc x canon for ardyn lol that's why you probably see them a lot together in my tags 🖤 SO cringe of me but tysm for humoring me 🖤🖤🖤 i guess to start, she's one of my angel ocs!! and she's my personal fave :) i've got this like. whole huge fic in the works about them i've been writing for years now that my friend @vince-prime REALLY helped me with including adding in his own ocs. we brainstorm together and i do the writing :) ardyn needs someone who would defy the gods for him, yenno? and ire is kinda like. the culmination of that i guess 🤍 and she's also the "he asked for no pickles" wife lol i love ire because she stops at nothing if it means he gets a chance at happiness, gods and devils be damned. she is a force of absolute nature and i find her fascinating because all the angels in my fic have slight human qualities about them, whether it's lust or cruel fascination or curiosity or even selfishness, and she's no different :) but her human characteristics culminate into... persistence and eternity. it's the vibe of like. she'd burn down heaven to keep him warm. and the way love can become a purely neutral force because you won't bend to the laws of fate and whatnot. yeah. idk, i think she's cool lol 🖤 i have an ire aesthetic/ardyn/ffxv blog if u wanna check it out @ire-in-reverence :) all things that remind me of her are under the 🤍 tag and all the ardyn things are under the ♥️ tag. and the "iredyn" tag stands for the ship name i gave them :)
