Prologue: Ursus Arctos Horribilis

"Do you ever get tired of watching me?"

The bear head stared Simon down from its place on the wall.

Skin, seen through cracks between sun-bleached fur, was old, leathery and brittle. The eyes were just two beady obsidian dots, watchful as they were unseeing, and its jaw was half open as if caught just before a roar could rumble out, sawdust trickling out between yellowed teeth. It collected in a pile on the floor.

Simon dropped his head down, rubbing at the sore tendons with a hiss. It was always too high up to comfortably look at, or perhaps, he was too low down.

There was a flash of movement just outside his peripheral, but when he looked up, the bear was exactly where he’d left it, jaw hanging down like a still pendulum.

"I'd get bored if I was you,” Simon said. “But then, I'm not a dead, 'eadless bear. Maybe people-watching is the best for entertainment you've got."

Silence.

"Person-watching. That's a bit more accurate, don't you think?"

Tucking his hands in his pocket, Simon turned away, facing the hall stretching before him. 

It was long and thin, narrowing down to a sharp point, the ceiling so far up it disappeared into the shadows. Floral sun-faded paper peeled off the walls in curled strips as the lights above omitted a dim, green-tinged light glow as if the bulbs were infested with algae. The floor below him was made of warped, holey planks.

It looked like a memory half-forgotten.

"I can't figure out whether it'd be better if you talked or not," Simon murmured. "Not, I suppose. Even if you talked, you'd probably only talk bear, and that wouldn't be much use, would it?"

Ever the conversationalist, it said nothing.

Simon sighed and started walking. What else was there to do?

He’d made thirty steps before the bear began to follow him. It moved along the wall in a steady line as if pulled by an invisible rope, leaving a long scratch in the wallpaper, tearing noisily.  

Regardless of how slow or fast Simon went, the head moved at one pace, and that pace was languid. Even that slowness was still too fast for comfort though, as it was a keen reminder that it was not, as it should be, still.

Forty steps, fifty steps, sixty steps, seventy steps, ninety-ninety steps.

The hallway came to a stop. 

Simon found himself in front of a Door. It was a perfectly normal size, not absurdly big or small, and when he knocked on the wood, it sounded like wood. If he’d licked it, which he hadn't, it would taste of wood and polish. The doorknob was a greenish-tarnished globe, and even from a distance, it smelt of copper. Normal, perfectly normal.

 But no matter how much The Door liked to pretend it was normal, Simon knew the truth.

The head halted, the heavy plague it was stuck to bumping against the doorframe with a solid thunk. 

Simon looked up at it, catching its dead-eyed gaze, and mustered up an expression that said, very plainly, please go away. He hoped it said that, at least. If not that, something a bit stronger. Piss off, perhaps. 

He opened The Door anyway.

There was nothing behind it, just a void so dark and endless it hurt his eyes too look at it, like a nightsky devoid of any stars, the moon engulfed and devoured. Simon sighed and closed The Door.  Then, he turned around and walked back the way he came.

It was going to be another long night.

I was reading “at your command” by neville goddard the other morning, and there was something he was talking about that I really loved. he reminds us that everything you desire, you desire because it’s meant to be yours. you wouldn’t desire something that u couldn’t or shouldn’t have, and when u desire something, it is the gift of god.

here is a part from "at your command" i really loved:

whenever you think throughout the day “ugh i want *my desire*” (or something of the sort), don’t get upset or anxious bc you’re in the state of lack or “u messed everything up” etc. the past few days since ive read this, any time I catch myself thinking from lack, I just go “omg thank uuuuu it’s mine yayyy”

like…you desire something bc it’s supposed to be YOURS. your godself is SHOWING YOU what can give you the feeling you desire. like when you desire the feeling of love, your godself will make you desire that specific person bc that’s what will give you the feeling you crave. we’ve been conditioned by the people who haven’t been awoken to the law that life isn’t fair and we don’t deserve anything in this world, but that’s simply not true. we deserve everything we want, bc the only reason we want it—once again—is bc it’s supposed to be ours.

the reason i love this idea of saying “thank u” any time u think of wanting something is bc 1) it shifts u to wish fulfillment (saying thank u= u accept it as yours) and 2) youre accepting the gift of god!

like, wanting something isn’t bad. it’s THE GIFT OF GOD! you desire a certain feeling, and you give yourself the solution immediately. u feel lonely and want to feel—for lack of a better word—unlonely? here u go, u want a friend! on top of that, you want a GOOD friend, so here u go! u naturally desire what you’d consider a perfect friend maybe they’re loyal, the same age as you, live in your town, etc. you naturally desire all of these things without even trying!

I love this sm bc it’s kinda like, manifestation is already halfway done IMMEDIATELY! manifestation is started and completed in the 4d. u want a feeling….u give yourself the feeling. all done! yes ofc, as a side effect, it reflects in your 3D as well. but manifestation is completed before your desire even reflects in your outer-world.

the second u give yourself the feeling (give yourself your desire in the 4d) u successfully manifested it.

so if the steps are 1) desire a feeling and then 2) give yourself the feeling…by desiring something, your godself is showing u how to give yourself the feeling. for example, you want the feeling of being loved. so u naturally begin to desire being with a certain person. this is a gift! and you’re god, so it’s a gift you are giving yourself!

this situation was horrible for you, you didn’t even know how to fix it, of course it was all a lie but would the internet believe you? deactivating all your socials could be seen as suspicious by fans. they hated you anyway so whatever excuse you’d come up with, they’d never believe you. would lando even believe you? that thought made you sob even more, you struggled to breath and fell on the ground, resting your head on your knees. you could hear your heart beats going way too fast and you prayed for someone to help you because you were going to die from that damn panic attack.

her opponents are scared

clarisse is happy bc you and the twins (danny and ivy)

are sitting right in the front row cheering her on

and she got a wonderful good luck kiss from you

so not only is she happy and thinking about that but also she’s convinced that she’ll win just bc she got a kiss from you

so the fight starts, ivy is genuinely SCREECHING at the top of her lungs she’s so me she can’t be normal about anything ever

and you and danny are just regularly cheering for her 😭

eventually someone behind you tells ivy to shut up

after this clarisse definitely sort of realizes a whole new side of your relationship. seeing you publicly defend her like that, publicly care about her, love her, omg she is going crazy for you!!!

after this incident she definitely stops calling you her gf.

gives you a really pretty ring she got one of the hephaestus kids to make, starts calling you her wife

and nobody better have a problem w that lol or else they got two ares killing machines, one feral attack dog, and a literal mother who is not afraid to drag you by your ear.
