IT! The terror from beyond space (1958) Time for another fun classic, back in the 50s cinema was ruled supreme by the atomic age of science fiction Horror and adventure, exploring the depths of space and the villianess invaders that came with it. A rescue team is sent to Mars to bring back an astronaut Col Ed Currethers (Marshall Thompson) who is accused of murdering his crew members, however he claims that a Martian monster killed his team. disbelieved by the entire crew they begin return to Earth, however unknown to them at first crew members are being killed off, and it looks like Currethers is up to his old tricks, however it turns out he was telling the truth, and that there is a monster on board... And its hungry. IT! the terror from beyond space is a classic 50s film, incredibly nostalgic with a fun and thrilling pace of survival, the film creates tension towards the near indestructible martian. Nowadays with laughable effects especially with the creature itself, however with only a medium sized budget, the film makers took this into consideration, and throughout the entirity of the creatures scenes the sets are cast with low lighting, purpose to give the atmosphere more of a chilling aspect, but in practical terms to hid the noticeable costume flaws of the monster. Overall IT! is your fun 50s Sci fi horror, that doesn't really hold up to this day, however through its nostalgia it's still a joy to watch on repeat, and is certainly one of my favourite 50s films that I can smile throughout and remember fond memories. Also with a interesting note this plot style of an alien intruder, also gave inspiration to another classic horror film in Ridley Scott's Alien in 1979. Nostalgic fun through and through.
