Monday Motivation / April Anchor "your joy is your right" @iyanuadebiyi this is so deep. 😘😘 Some days I wake up and find it almost impossible to shake the feeling of melancholy off my back. Sad-for-nothing days take over until I lose my temper with the sadness and begin to drag my joy, force it with all my strength back into my bones. . I used to be that person who would not permit myself to be happy when good things were happening to me because I’d imagine that too many good things happening at once was a bad omen. I had this logic that if I wasn’t happy when the bad thing happened, the pain would be easier to bear. See how I ripped myself off for so many years? . Joy is good and more than good, it’s yours for the taking. It never really runs away, you just have to insist on the joy. You deserve to be happy. Trust me, you do. . How I insist on the joy? It’s pretty basic - I dance, i.e force my body to move. I listen to affirmations, I pray them, I tell myself nice things, cheer myself up and just generally encourage myself. Words are really key for me.
