plot - your muse and jackson are in a relationship. anyone who seemingly bothers your muse has been disappearing. local authorities claim there might be a killer on the loose.

with his arm curled protectively around them, he finally feels somewhat safe. the glow of the television illuminates them both in cool light as today's news is broadcasted to them. 5 dead. police still don't have any leads. mandatory curfew enforced after sundown.

a missing person's photo appears on the screen. oh, jackson remembers them. especially the agony glittering in their eyes as he slit their throat. although they couldn't see jackson behind his mask, he told them, maybe next time, when someone tells you they're taken, don't keep asking for their number. he watched as realization hit them, and then the slow hands of death tugged them beneath the surface.

"guess i'm staying the night, huh?" jackson muses, nodding his head to the window, where an inky night sky is framed. before the other can answer, his teasing smile falls. "you okay?" it must be terrifying. people you know, vanishing from the world without a trace. he wishes he could tell them that they'd be safe, but he couldn't burden them with the information that he was the reason for the killings.

He hated it all—the literal and figurative blood passed down, inheritance in veins and on hands. Hating the very flesh he lived in, ever now more as he begun to face the realities of his father. ( It wasn't time. The burning, the hollowed husk would come later. Now he was just a mediocre security guard in a ghost-filled restaurant. Freeing the souls came then. He was only learning about their existence now. )

Her response shut him up, mouth clamped and jaw tight. The light shining from his flashlight wobbling, then clattering to the tiled floor as glass shattered. Stumbling away several steps, hands instinctively grasping at ears. ( It would be years before he stopped flinching, before the only thing that struck fear into him was his father's shambling corpse. ) Now, he was scared. Petrified, trembling like a child.

He deserved it. The fear and the words directed his way. His own special dose of irony.

What clawed its way out of his mouth wasn't easily identifiable to him—desperation and rage and remorse and grief combining into a voice ragged, tired, and loud all at once. "I don't want redemption!" God, he meant it. And here he made the promise that would haunt him for decades upon decades, eternity hanging over his head without him knowing it: "I'll do anything to stop this." The murders, the hauntings, the trails of blood that led directly back to the Afton family. "He can't keep getting away with this."

He didn't know that he'd be heard out, but the words rang true enough to steady him a bit. Flashlight snatched back up, he took a long, shaky breath. "I don't expect you to believe me." Either of you—because he knew. Knew if there was another, it had to be his brother. But he couldn't ask, couldn't hear it confirmed. Couldn't know that he had inadvertently followed another one of his father's sins, beyond even murder.

Don’t mind me rotating how Jay realized his feelings for Cel only after they were nearly killed, made into a robot, and then dropped off with the note saying Zane was alive.

Legit the way I have his AU done up to start the ship off, he only realized his feelings for Celexa after their broken, mangled body had been dropped off with the note at the start of the Tournament of the Elements. Dude spent most of S4 working on repairing them, but never stated his feelings until about S6 (shortly after he managed to defeat Nadahkan, also very AU for the Jay x Cel/LED Storm ship)....

So I just keep thinking about him trying to repair Cel with his MacGyver ways between fights in the Tournament of The Elements, whispering to himself almost constantly, as if Cel’s still there and able to hear him while he slowly works on repairing their new body. Dude doesn’t even know if it’s Cel, but he feels it is- and it’s vindicated after he manages to boot them online for the first time, but man S4 for Jay in the LED Storm universe is just--- so much WORSE.
