① The Creative Communities
Who are the local and global creatives, designers, illustrators, photographers that you want to connect with?
Nick Knight, Petra Collins, Milk Studios, Pentagram, Phoebe Philo, Jack Bridgland, Michael Bierut
What are the influences on them and what engages you in their work?
Half of the creatives I'm interested in are inspired by vintage and things in the past. They take inspiration from old techniques such as film photography and old colour grading to bring the past into the present.
The other half of the creatives I'm interested in are very minimalist, and will often strip an idea bare to its core concept. I think when minimalism is done well, it is the best way to communicate ideas to others.
In what (if any) ways are they collaborating and engaging in communities?
For the photographers, they are constantly referencing pop culture in their work. Their work is a depiction of the time we live in, the trends and society.
For the design agencies, they often collaborate with global or local businesses to produce campaigns or branding material and these outputs are seem by the wider community.
What impacts, concepts, thematics, and organising principles are at play in the creative practice?
Most creatives will go through phases of research, planning, and iterations.

Written Analysis
My aim for this project was to manipulate multiple images and create a short series to express photographically a story to tell. I see my manipulated images in a cinematic type context. Where my manipulated images can be used for cinematic ads and film posters. Initially inspired by editorial photography with a fantasy theme, appropriate for cinematic collaterals. I looked for examples and my favourite editorial/ storytelling photographers such as Petra Collins and Jack Bridgland. I was inspired by their works, they mostly do staged and studio photography with a little manipulation in the process, but I wanted to take inspiration from their editorial style and do it with my own approach using pure photo manipulation method. The story behind my photo series is inspired by the themes of dreams, fantasy and astral projection. As a person who has an introverted side of my personality, I like to imagine a lot of escapes, especially dreamscapes. I wanted to portray this personal idea through photography and manipulation. Traveling through dreams, and astral projection is the idea that is being conveyed within my series of photos. I want to show the vibrant, bold and foreign feeling within these photos. The feeling of afloat, foreign space, and entering windows of the unknown. Bringing in the dreamscapes to life and painting beyond the possibilities of how our brains work. Dreaming and traveling through your imagination is closest to our desires and is a portal to show the possibilities that can be reached. Throughout the process of this project, I took pictures of nature, my friends as models, architectural spaces, product photography, reflection, and playing with coloured lights. My plan was to capture elements that I could build later on to create my own photographic dreamscapes. The first landscape photo is a close up shot of eyes. I manipulated this image using layering and layer modes to blend colors and vibrancy. Focusing on the eyes, I blended the bold colors of my crystals and applied them to the eyes for the fantasy approach. The second photo is a simple yet bold piece. Using water and sky as negative spaces, but their natural textures is what adds depth into the photo. The last photo is more of a piece that expresses natural space along with fantasy flares to display a sense of light human presence. The challenges behind this project was maybe shifting and changing my plans. It was difficult to decide on what story I wanted to portray, Though i found my way through by simply not overthinking. I took this feeling as an opportunity to express the opposite of this feeling. Instead I decided to story tell the feeling of dreams and lightness of possibilities. I learnt a lot from this project, I learnt that planning is necessary in order to build and compose photographic pieces especially when manipulating. I also learnt that the most helpful thing to gain more photos is to always have my camera with me because everywhere is an opportunity for ideas and I figured it is better to collect and archive photos throughout time. Overall I enjoyed this project because it was an imaginative project and gave me the opportunity to play and blend my photos together to my own desires and will. This has actually inspired me to extend this type of practice in the future

Plan
Fashion photography is something I have always loved, from buying fashion magazines such as vouge, GQ and Elle. Photography has always been something I have loved, and I take my camera everywhere I go, taking photos of anything I find aesthetically pleasing.   I have always wanted to learn more about photography and experience working in a studio setting to reach my goal of getting into fashion photography as a career therefore I applied for this HND course.
My goal for my personal project is to create a strong fashion editorial of 10 images that I am proud of, as well as gaining new skills and confidence in the studio and strengthening my skills in photoshop when optimizing my images. I really like the way Jack bridgland works as he gets his inspiration by taking scenes from the cartoon The Looney Tunes and colours from sweety wrappers to create his inspiring editorial images, however I will be taking a slightly different approach as each image will be inspired by snippets out of 10 different cartoons (Barbie, Tom& Jerry, The Flintstones, Micky mouse, Loony Tunes, Betty Boop, SpongeBob, Scooby doo, Fairy Odd Parents, Garfield). Lara likes the collaborative aspect of her job as it takes more than one creative mind to create these amazing images, I also like the team behind creating fashion images such as hairstylist, makeup artists, set designers and many more, this helps build up your contacts for future shoots. I will be working with a hairstylist and makeup artists to complete my personal project. Nick Knights approach to fashion photography is more fine art than most other fashion photographers, I like this aspect as it shows fashion as an art rather than a product. I plan to optimise my images that look more structured as I am trying to create a character rather than promoting a specific product like Nick Night.
I feel my target market for these images would be best in a fashion magazine or online publication as they will strongly apply to the fashion industry and could potentially be Commercial images for fashion brands. In order to work for a fashion magazine company, you must have a strong portfolio of work that relates to their style.

It takes a man comfortable in his own skin, to wear pink. And if that man has a freshly peroxide hair do, he means business.
So when singer Paul Klein came to Loft Studios for his cover shoot for Wonderland magazine, he bared his soul about his high profile heartbreak from Dua Lipa, and how that inspired him to write the synth pop love songs on his latest release Malibu Nights.
