STORY TIME! 📖 The day after @jenn__dietz’s wedding, we only had a few hours in #JacksonholeWY before our PM flight. ⏰ Greg had been busy with #Bridesman wedding duties and hadn’t been able to go on a walk, hike, run, or anything in the beauty that Jackson Hole offers. 😱 So, after getting a maximum of 3 hours of sleep the night after Jenn’s wedding, I forced Greg to wake up at the crack of dawn to take advantage of the minimum time we had to go on a walk on a trail that had some gorg views. 🚶 I knew it was inconvenient and we were both exhausted, buuut I also knew that since we were in Jackson Hole, we had to seize the moment. “Góc cao bồi” miền Tây nước Mỹ Teton County đã và đang cuốn hút giới siêu giàu đổ tới, tạo nên hiện tượng lạ mang tên “vùng đất hoang dại tỷ phú” khuấy động dư luận.

Teton County là một quận thuộc TP nhỏ Jackson, bang Wyoming, nơi có khu trượt tuyết nổi tiếng Jackson Hole và Công viên Quốc gia Yellowstone lâu đời nhất nước Mỹ.

Với diện tích hơn 10 ngàn km vuông và dân số hơn 23 ngàn người, Teton County gây bất thần lớn với dư luận năm 2018 sau khi “lặng lẽ” trở thành khu vực giàu nhất nước Mỹ với mức thu nhập bình quân đầu người 251.728 USD, cao hơn tới 58 ngàn USD so với New York – nơi được xếp ở vị trí thứ 2.

Hiện tượng này còn tiếp tục lan toả sang phía bắc, tạo nên sự thay đổi tương tự ở quận kế bên Park County – quê nhà của cặp đôi showbiz nổi tiếng Kim Kardashian – Kanye West.

do thế Teton County được ví như phiên phiên bản đời thực của loạt phim truyền hình viễn tưởng lôi cuốn về miền Tây nước Mỹ “Westworld”. Phim vẫn ra mắt người theo dõi phần 3 hồi đầu tháng 3 năm nay trong khi nhiều phim điện ảnh bị huỷ lịch chiếu do Covid-19.

Gần 8 trong 10 USD thu nhập kiếm được ở Teton County, theo số liệu năm 2015, tới từ tiền lãi và cổ tức chứ không phải từ tiền lương thông thường. Nói cách khác là tiền kiếm được chủ yếu từ đầu tư, thay vì hùi hụi đi làm từ sáng tới tối.

Điều này không có gì là lạ do hồ hết bất động sản ở đó thuộc về những khuôn mặt thượng lưu như: Dick Cheney (Phó Tổng thống thứ 46 cũng từng là một hạ nghị viên của Wyoming); Harrison Ford (diễn viên Hollywood nổi tiếng), Christy Walton (quả phụ của một trong những đại trượng phu của người sáng lập Walmart, cũng là người thừa kế chính khối tài sản 18,2 tỷ USD)…

Nhưng Teton County cũng là nơi nhưng khoảng cách giàu – nghèo thể hiện rõ nhất nước Mỹ: chỉ 1% giới siêu giàu chiếm 1/2 tổng thu nhập, trong khi số đông người làm việc cho họ (chủ yếu là người Mexico nhập cư) sống chật vật bằng mức lương tối thiểu chỉ cách những bất động sản khổng lồ của các tỷ phú vài dặm.

Với giới siêu giàu, sức lôi cuốn chính của Teton County nói riêng và bang Wyoming nói chung xem ra là sự gợi lại cảm giác ngược dòng thời kì về thủa thơ dại, gắn với những trò chơi “cowboy” (cao bồi – người chăn gia súc ở miền Tây nước Mỹ) và lịch sử châu Âu thời kỳ đầu của nước Mỹ. nhường nhịn như có lực kéo vô hình xúc tiến họ thực hiện ý tưởng tới miền Tây để tìm lại “vong linh” của nước Mỹ.

Wyoming cho phép 1% số cư dân siêu giàu này nhập vai vào những gì tương tự một cuộc sống đơn giản hơn, như phiên phiên bản “Westworld” ngoài đời thực. Mặc dù siêu giàu nhưng nhiều người trong số họ có nhẽ còn thích Wyoming vì sống ở đây tiết kiệm được nhiều thứ như: không bị tiến công thuế thu nhập; thuế bất động sản thấp ở mức 4%; thuế bán hàng cũng thấp nhất cả nước…

Thêm vào đó thủ tục trú ngụ đơn giản và thuận tiện, giúp các nhà phú quý thể cắt giảm tới 6 con số trong các hoá đơn thuế của họ mỗi năm bằng cách “dời đô” ít nhất là bán thời kì tới Jackson Hole. Số tiền tiết kiệm này họ thường dành để làm từ thiện.

Tuy nhiên trong thời đại dịch, tình trạng giới siêu giàu đổ tới đây quá đông tránh Covid-19 dẫn tới nhiều hệ luỵ với môi trường và xã hội, khiến cư dân địa phương và những người làm thuê cho họ lo lắng và phàn nàn nhiều hơn.

Trong cuốn sách mới “Billionaire Wilderness” (vùng đất hoang dại tỷ phú) vừa xuất phiên bản ngày 3/3/2020, tác giả Justin Farrell – giáo sư đại học Yale và cũng là một cư dân Wyoming – đã mô tả khá cụ thể những mày mò thú vị về cách “góc cao bồi” này của nước Mỹ đã lặng lẽ trở thành khu vực phú quý nhất của nước Mỹ như thế nào.
