Day 10: Motorpool

This open space is where the expedition keeps their vehicles.

3x Theown Mk 5.5 Ultralight Scout Vehicles.  These lev-bikes are capable of flying half a kilometer above the ground.  They are all equipped with a heavy caster rifle capable of damaging light vehicles.  If needed, they can be removed from the bike and carried by an individual, though they need to be braced or mounted on a bipod to be fired effectively.

“Bucky”, an Inventory Motors K’buthan Sahir 6-wheeled truck used by the Sappers as a troop transport.  The model is named after a mythological bull that carries the entire cosmos on its back.  While reliable and dependable, it has very bad suspension despite all efforts to repair it, making for a very bumpy ride.  The Sappers are used to it for the most part, and can fight effectively from it when needed.

“Jagala”, a Dvaleng Gama 6-wheeled hinged cargo vehicle, built by Dvaleng Engine Manufacturing.  Named after a six-legged creature that can climb just about anywhere, it has excellent off-roading ability.  It’s covered in large patches of rust that defy all attempts at removing it.  Just when one patch of rust is removed, another one appears in a different spot.  The mechanics have the rust patches in places of minimal inconvenience for now and don’t want to mess with it any further.  Drivers are actually a bit scared to drive through liquids known for cleaning off rust, considering it bad luck if the rust patches move.

For four years I served the Empire. For four years I was deployed from system to system, doing my best to protect my brothers and the planets from insurrections. Watching everything crumble after Endor was hard, but Jagala was the hardest.

It was the longest campaign I was a part of. One of the longest outside of the Circarpous Campaign, actually. A full year spent fighting through the mud and flushing the insurgents out of the holes they hid in. But in the end, the Empire just packed up and left. The insurgents regained control of the planet in a matter of days after the last transport left. All of the ground we gained. All of the friends I lost. It was all for nothing.
