I know this poll has been done before but I want to start a discussion and have an excuse to yap about the Hamilton children.
Honestly I find them more interesting than the man Alexander Hamilton himself.
Alexander Hamilton Jr. "had a "large and varied correspondence" with other political contemporaries including his close friend Henry Clay, John C. Calhoun, Salmon P. Chase, and Presidents James Monroe and Zachary Taylor" 💀💀 and like many of the below children met Lincoln.
John Church lived in mf Long Branch, New Jersey, on mf Ocean Avenue. HISTORY IS TEASING ME TO BAD AUGHHHH (look at the photo. Apparently they knew each other. Of course, they literally lived on the same street, practically neighbors)
Tumblr media
John's children are super interesting too. Ahem...his son was enrolled at West Point overlapping with Grant by two years OF COUSE HE DID and bro interned for WILLIAM T SHERMAN AND EXCHANGED LETTERS WITH LINCOLN REGULARLY. and joHN'S DAUGHTER WAS MARRIED TO HENRY HALLECK WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT. This is driving me insane. Screaming crying throwing up.
William was in Galena and was friends with Elihu Washburne and probably met Lincoln ofc
Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton and Eliza Hamilton Holly literally met General Winfield Scott, Senator William H Seward, and President Millard Fillmore. This crossover is insane. Elizabeth Schyler Hamilton and William H Seward is a wild wild wild combination.
Phillip II prosecuted a Caribbean pirate who was hung in court dfusuidfhudi. He also was a stop on the Underground Railroad and an abolitionist.
John Church, William, and Philip II are my favorites :3333

Did the Hamilton family keep in touch with Fanny after she left?
Unfortunately, with how hard it is to get access to the Hamilton family correspondence, let alone transcribe a lot of it; the answer is not so entirely certain. Nothing I have ever found suggests so, but I also have not transcribed every - or even half - of the letters the family wrote. Not to mention, it is a fair possibility any correspondence with Frances or mentioning her could have easily been destroyed for privacy or just lost to time.
I find it hard to believe Elizabeth or any of the children would have completely cut ties with someone they had lived with for ten years and described as family, though. [x] The only thing that could possibly suggest so, is the fact that James knew a bit about Frances' life after she left, but he very well could have just heard it circling through the news (Bold text is mine);
She was educated and treated in all respects as his own daughter, and married Mr. Tappan, an eminent philanthropist of New York.
Hamilton, James Alexander. Reminiscences of James A. Hamilton: Or, Men and Events, at Home and Abroad, During Three Quarters of a Century. United States, C. Scribner & Company, 1869.
I have heard the misconception that James was one of the only kids to still cherish Frances because his own daughter would later be named Frances ‘Hamilton’ Bowdoin (1813-1887), but that is realistically not the case as James' wife, Mary ‘Morris’ Hamilton, had a mother named Frances ‘Ludlam’ Morris (1766-1852), and it was likely her namesake instead of Antill's.
I believe there was a historian who seriously suggested that Frances officially departed from the family to live with her sister, Mary Antill, due to the Reynolds controversy catching publicity because it was during the year of 1797. And while that might actually provide reason as to why it isn't known if Frances kept contact with the family or not, perhaps severing ties due to the public shame—I still wouldn't full-heartedly believe that with what lack of evidence remains.

James Alexander Hamilton to Walter Hamilton, New York, [April 14th 1828]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
New York April 14th 1828
Dear Sir,
It affords me much pleasure to recall to your recollection the memory of my late father Alexander Hamilton, by sending to you an original letter written to him by General George Washington. ___ The close connection between these illustrious men, and of both with the events which led to the emergence of our present government, will be developed by a history of the life of the former now in progress, from which his family on your side of the water, will be gratified to learn that he was the first man in this, and not surpassed by any other of his day, in any country. By a correspondence between your parent ___ and mine, shortly after the era of the revolution, the family of Scotland were informed of some of the events of my father's life. His sudden and premature death, however deprived his children of a support, but I am happy to say that nearly all of them, by their personal exertions have acquired a competence, and some of them what are considered ample fortunes in this country. Although they have not in any degree approached to the distinguished situation of their father, all his sons are of respectable standing. My widowed mother, now near 70 years of age, enjoys good health and the respect of her numerous friends. I have the honor to be with very great respect your friend and servant, James A. Hamilton
Walter Hamilton Esq.
