There may be some MTMTE fans on here who (wisely) avoid Twitter etc and so may not know about the MTMTE Notebooks and Scriptbooks that I make available once a year

These exclusive behind-the-scenes books are essentially creator journals chronicling the evolution of the series, containing pitches, concepts, character thumbnails etc that I worked on ahead of and during the comic’s run

Sometimes I wonder if the people at Hasbro/the people who sit down to make the official transformers stuff are aware of the affect it has on the community

Like do they do something in a show and sigh to themselves like "sigh, the ship wars are NOT going to survive this"

On the contrary do they make it more zesty on purpose? Idw mtmte absolutely had to, i refuse to believe it was accidental

At long last I've finished. This is from an upcoming scene in my fic Glass Mirrors (Rung x Fort Max) on AO3. I haven't draw mechs in years and haven't really ever rendered something so nicely. I'm actually really proud of this one. I missed this fandom a lot.

Lots of banger ideas from the MTMTE Notebooks vol 2 that didn't make it into the series (some for obvious reasons, such as Rung being a King Scraplet made out of 1000 smaller scraplets, and some for other reasons).

This particular idea is intriguing and begging for fanfic. And honestly, it makes a lot of sense - if there is a Primus outside of the planet Cybertron in the form of Rung, then doesn't it also follow that Unicron would be the same thing?

Just finished MTMTE and LL……here’s what I have to say: (screaming warning)

JAMES ROBERTS WHEN I FUCKING CATCH YOU!!! JAMES ROBERTS I WISH YOU A VERY HOT PILLOW FOR THE EMOTIONAL DAMAGE I HAVE SUFFERED AND THEN TO SLEEP PEACEFULLY LIKE A BABY WITH YOUR DIABOLICAL MIND WORKING AT CAPACITY TO WRITE THESE INCREDIBLE STORIES!!!!

How dare you make me feel this things! How dare you write so well I open new doors into my own psyche to pull up my own sadness! How dare you make me love these silly little gay robot aliens only to make them suffer! How dare you make me explore loss and love so intimately! How dare you make me think about my own relationships with the people around me! How dare!

How dare you write one of the best pieces of media I have read in a while! How dare every artist, editor, and person who worked on this comic make it such a masterpiece!

I need to reread it and drip feed it to myself so I can take in every issue and just how incredible it is. How every detail is important and relevant. How I literally fell into the story like nothing else. Oh to have been able to read this as it came out and go absolutely insane with every cliffhanger.

Words cannot express it. I tried to live text my friend my reactions but that didn’t even do it justice. It’s a masterpiece that I think everyone should read if they can if they like stories about love, grief, how to live, and how to keep going when hope is lost. Also I’d you like a crew of little guys!

I kind of find it funny that it seems like the IDW Transformers fandom latched onto "Rung is Primus" while treating it as if Rung is literally a god instead of the way James Roberts intended it. Which is that Rung and rest of the Guiding Hand are not gods, they're just the first Transformers that got mythologized. I feel like it kind of tells you something about how alone he is in wanting to get rid of the mystical elements of the franchise lmao.

There's a reason Roberts hasn't seem to have done much of anything since IDW1 ended. He seems to be persona non grata at Hasbro these days, not without cause mind you. It's blatantly clear that he was trying to canonize stuff from his weird tryhard fan novel Eugenesis, where the Cybertronians are explicitly machines built and their religion is a complete lie.

The problem is that Rung as a character is kind of poison now. While official sources are trying to split the difference, especially as Hasbro embraces the 13 Primes and the Primus/Unicron origin as the definitive Transformers origin, Rung is still associated with Roberts' backend attempt to make his...dare I say "Reddit atheist" approach to the Transformers and trying to eliminate anything that he personally found objectionable. In turn that made the series seem a lot more small-scale and boring.

I don't see Rung appearing in much else in the future, except maybe as cameos or the like. If Kirkman and Johnson know of him, which isn't a guarantee, he would make an ideal redshirt bot to kill.
