Kim’s Grand Slam Helps Twins Beat Lions!

Twins 7 Lions 3 W-Jin (1-1) L-Jang (0-1)

The LG Twins have been playing short-handed over the past few weeks. Roberto Ramos was out for a week and is back, but Yong-Taik Park is still out with a hamstring injury. The Twins entered today having lost four straight games and were on the outside of the playoff race. The Twins morale was low until the last few innings of the series finale against the Lions in Daegu. The Lions offense got the scoring started in the second inning. Jun-Seok Song lined a two-out double to right to bring up Min-Ho Kang, who drilled a Chan-Heon Jung fastball out to left for a two-run homer. The Lions had a two-run lead after two innings of play. Meanwhile, Chae-Heong Choi threw five shutout innings for Samsung. Pil-Joon Jang threw a perfect sixth, but things started to go south for the Lions in the seventh. Bon-Hyeok Koo drew a one-out walk to ignite a rally. Chun-Woong Lee drew another walk and Hyun-Soo Kim hit an RBI single to center. This cut the Lions lead in half and we headed into the eighth inning. Ji-Hoon Jang entered the game for Samsung and things did not go well at all. Roberto Ramos led-off the eighth and was hit in the foot by a pitch. Ji-Hwan Oh walked with one-out and Ho-Eun Kim lined a pinch-hit run-scoring single to right. This tied the game at two, but the Twins were far from done. Chang-Gi Hong walked and pinch-hitter Keun-Woo Jeong delivered an RBI groundout to short. LG had a 3-2 lead and kept the chain moving as Chun-Woong Lee walked to load up the bases. The next batter, Hyun-Soo Kim drilled a first-pitch fastball out to right for a grand slam. It was his eighth homer of the season and put the Twins up 7-2. The Lions would inch closer in the bottom of the eighth. Young-Jin Choi lined a double to left and Seung-Gyu Park hit an RBI double to left to pull the Lions within four runs. Woo-Young Jung came on to close out the game and had a scoreless ninth for the Twins, who snapped a four-game losing streak. The Twins are back in the fourth spot in the KBO with the victory. 

-Final Thoughts- Chae-Heung Choi was very good for the Lions. He threw five shutout innings and allowed two hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Chan-Heon Jung threw a solid game for the Twins as well. He went six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Sang-Su Kim led the game with four hits for Samsung. Hyun-Soo Kim was the leader for the Twins with two hits, a homer, and five RBI’s. Kang-Nam Yoo and Chang-Gi Hong added two hits each. We are now through nine weeks of KBO action in 2020. The next game will be the Twins and Bears on Tuesday. The pitching match-up should be Woo-Chan Cha against Young-Ha Lee as the two rivals square off.

I finally finished Hotel Del Luna starring IU (Lee Jieun) as Jang Man Weol and Yeo Jin Goo as Go Chan Seung. I think I could have finished earlier, but I kind of lost the motivation to keep watching the last few episodes.

I loved IU as Man Weol and had a girl-crush on her, but I think still prefer her character, Lee Ji An in My Mister because she’s more relatable. I like how cool her character is (most of the time) and the way she dresses and styles her hair really brings Man Weol to life. I’m kind of impartial to Go Chan Seung, not that Yeo Jin Goo didn’t do a good job, but his character didn’t really do much for me. I didn’t feel like there was much chemistry between the two main leads and there wasn’t too much romance either (compared to other dramas) so I didn’t have an emotional attachment to their relationship and wasn’t very sad when they had to separate.

I liked the supporting cast that made up the hotel workers, Shin Jung Keun as Kim Sun Bi, the bartender and Bae Hae Sun as Choi Seo Hee, the room manager. They were cute and interacted well with each other and others. P.O ( a member of Block B), who played Ji Hyun Joong, the bellboy, was quite awkward in some scenes and to be honest, I cringed a bit. I know he’s a rookie and maybe he’ll improve over time, so I’m not completely putting all my judgement onto him yet. This is also true for Kang Mina (Gugudan member) who plays Kim Yuna, an internist, who had some okay scenes, but can still learn more. One of my favourite characters was Sanchez (Cho Hyun Chul) because he was a good friend and was able to take everything thrown at him in stride. I also really enjoyed the multiple cameos that happened in each episode, especially Kim Soo Hyun at the end.

Story-wise, I really liked the beginning, but it got a little draggy for me near the middle and had an anti-climatic end. I feel like the episode with Chan Seong’s mom was a little out of place because they didn’t take it further and resolved it quickly. I was glad that they were able to conclude the the hotel workers’ stories though. I know people thought that the ending was sad, but I didn’t feel that way, and was instead confused when the leads met up again after she crossed the bridge. How did this meeting happen, were they both dead or was it a dream? The only scene that almost made me cry was when the manager before Go Chan Seung, Noh Joon Seok (played by Jeong Dong Hwan), was leaving and he was talking to Man Weol by the moon tree. I felt more melancholy when Man Weol was crying about Manager Noh and Choi Seo Hee leaving than when she and Chan Seung had to separate. In the back of my mind I think I knew they weren’t going to end up together unless some miracle occurred, which is always a possibility since it is a drama.

I give it 8.5/10.

Jang Man Wol was a wariar who faught for her people. But she committed maby sins by doing so. In order to pay for her sins she started to look for a guest house for ghosts, where they can rest. In the journey she became the owner of this guest house as her punishment. This guest house is know as Hotel Del Luna in the present. But as the new General Manager of the Hotel comes her life begin to change. It means her punishment will come to an end. The new General Manager Ku Chan Sung has to see her off to her afterlife. Will they be able to say good bye to each other?
